[8:59] travels think about 15 hours something

[18:16] and his wife they've been gracious hosts

[18:18] this week and I appreciate that so much

[18:21] and we've had good fellowship and and uh

[18:25] been blessed by that Fellowship looking

[18:27] forward to what God is going to continue

[18:29] doing here in the church as you grow and

[18:32] and as you uh take your commitments on

[18:35] Sunday I'm praying that you know God

[18:37] will help you to know what to do and

[18:40] that uh you'll be able to do more for

[18:42] Missions than you've ever done before

[18:45] and while I'm talking about that let me

[18:47] say thank you because you support our

[18:50] ministry and we don't have a lot of uh

[18:53] monthly support but what we do have

[18:56] really helps and uh kind of give you an

[18:59] idea uh November December bad months for

[19:04] Revival meetings so those are usually

[19:07] down months then uh again uh in the

[19:11] summertime July August are slow months

[19:15] but we've been able to uh uh get into

[19:18] some little churches that can't have

[19:20] Pastors in they just don't have the

[19:21] funds to have folks in and and last year

[19:25] uh I was preaching up in

[19:27] Washington I don't call anybody and ask

[19:29] for meetings I don't send notes and say

[19:32] hey would you please have me uh if I get

[19:35] a call I go and so I'm Here There and

[19:37] Everywhere I don't have I don't travel

[19:40] in a line and I was up in Washington and

[19:44] because it was a long trip I had an

[19:45] extra Sunday there somebody called me

[19:48] and said listen there's a little church

[19:50] over in Idaho that needs to have a guest

[19:53] speaker they they're a new church

[19:55] haven't been able to have anybody and I

[19:58] was was able uh to go over and preach

[20:00] for them and uh and not make any charge

[20:04] of ministry by the way the preacher will

[20:06] tell you uh two things that I do not do

[20:10] number one I never

[20:12] discuss when I make a uh an appointment

[20:15] to come and preach I never talk to the

[20:17] pastor about finances never uh we're not

[20:21] going to ever place a price on our

[20:23] ministry I don't believe that's right

[20:26] and we don't do it and the second thing

[20:29] is that we never discuss well our church

[20:31] needs to hear this and it needs to hear

[20:34] that uh I pray and I decide what God

[20:37] wants me to preach and I preach it and

[20:39] uh that way I can say hey if the shoe

[20:42] fits just wear it amen just wear it uh

[20:45] because I I don't get any hints from

[20:47] anybody about what I ought to be

[20:50] preaching in the pulpit and I don't want

[20:51] to ever go there uh because uh that's uh

[20:56] that's not the kind of preaching that

[20:57] really helps any anybody anyhow so thank

[21:00] you for your support thank you for being

[21:02] faithful this week uh Brother Sam you've

[21:05] had to kind of make things work this

[21:08] week thank you for making it work last

[21:10] night the sound system failed a little

[21:12] bit there and he just went right on

[21:14] through and and I I appreciate that the

[21:17] Loyalty there making that all work thank

[21:19] you for filling in tonight on the piano

[21:22] I appreciate that just making it work

[21:24] amen and that's what church is all about

[21:32] to the book of Titus uh chapter number

[21:37] two and if you're physically able to

[21:39] stand for the reading of the scripture

[21:41] I'd invite you to stand while you're

[21:43] doing that may I ask you to pray uh for

[21:46] me tomorrow uh uh I've been driving more

[21:50] lately because uh the flights have been

[21:54] really really really

[21:56] expensive and in addition to that uh it

[22:00] seems like you can't get a direct flight

[22:02] anymore and and most of them are 12

[22:05] hours and so I can drive it sometimes

[22:09] quicker than I can fly it anymore but

[22:13] it's uh it's a real struggle I've had

[22:16] five back

[22:17] surgeries and uh I'm struggling with a

[22:21] right hip issue right now uh it's it's

[22:24] an artificial HP but something isn't

[22:26] working right and so uh I I've got to be

[22:29] in the harness 15 hours tomorrow I'm

[22:32] going to leave sometime between 3:00 and

[22:34] 4 4: in the morning and uh just stay at

[22:37] it till I get where I got to get so if

[22:39] you just pray for me along the way pray

[22:42] that the good Lord will keep me awake as

[22:45] I drive and and uh that I can be safe I

[22:48] want to be safe for others as well amen

[22:51] and so I appreciate your prayers uh my

[22:54] grandson's a student at Pensacola

[22:57] Christian College in the art department

[23:00] and he graduates in May and um so in

[23:05] order to graduate from that department

[23:08] they have to do a an exhibition so all

[23:10] the art students have a big exhibition

[23:12] Hall and he'll be displaying all of his

[23:15] artwork and so I'm I'm pushing to get

[23:18] there so I can be there for that event

[23:20] for him uh to just kind of encourage him

[23:23] a little bit so that's why the push and

[23:26] if you'd pray for me I'd appreciate it

[23:27] Titus Chapter 2 and I want to begin

[23:30] reading there tonight in verse number

[23:34] 11 Titus Chapter 2 and verse number 11

[23:39] for the grace of God that bringeth

[23:42] salvation hath appeared to all men

[23:47] teaching us that denying

[23:50] ungodliness and worldly lust we should

[23:54] live

[23:56] soberly righteously

[23:58] and godly in this present world looking

[24:03] for that blessed hope and glorious

[24:07] appearing of the great God and our

[24:10] Savior Jesus Christ who gave himself for

[24:14] us that he might redeem us from all

[24:18] iniquity and purify unto himself a

[24:22] peculiar people zealous of good works

[24:27] these things

[24:29] speak and

[24:31] exhort and rebuke with all authority let

[24:36] no man despise thee let's pray together

[24:40] father we ask you tonight on this final

[24:42] night of the mission conference that you

[24:44] might meet with us that you might give

[24:48] anointing for the preaching of the word

[24:51] I'm thankful for those who have been so

[24:53] faithful this week uh to the meeting and

[24:56] uh father I know there's and some who

[24:58] are sick and some who come from

[25:01] distances far and all of that we're so

[25:03] glad uh for them being here tonight we

[25:06] pray heavenly father that you might meet

[25:08] with us in a special way on this final

[25:11] night and Lord that you would encourage

[25:14] our hearts about the task that you have

[25:17] assigned us to and that is to go into

[25:20] all the world and preach the gospel to

[25:22] Every Creature now father I ask again

[25:26] for the anointing of thy Spirit now to

[25:28] deliver deliver the word may each heart

[25:30] be open and receptive to the word of God

[25:33] tonight may we leave here uh not only

[25:35] having been hearers of the word but

[25:38] doers also and we'll thank you and

[25:40] praise you for what's accomplished in

[25:42] Christ's name amen thank you you may uh

[25:46] be seated uh Paul uh is addressing uh a

[25:50] young son in the Faith by the name of

[25:53] Titus here in this epistle named after

[25:56] him the book of Titus and uh Titus is

[26:00] referred to as his son in the faith for

[26:05] those that are Avid notet takers 1

[26:07] Corinthians chapter 4 and verse 15

[26:11] identifies Paul as the spiritual father

[26:14] of Titus it says for though ye have

[26:17] 10,000 instructors in Christ yet have ye

[26:21] not many fathers for in Christ I have

[26:25] begotten you through the gospel so Paul

[26:27] said listen you're my son in the faith

[26:30] because of the preaching of the Gospel

[26:33] of the Lord uh Jesus Christ and so in

[26:37] chapter one he's talking to uh Paul is

[26:41] to Titus about uh personal Holiness and

[26:44] sound Doctrine and by the way listen

[26:47] listen to me tonight it is not enough it

[26:51] is not enough to be sound in Doctrine it

[26:55] is not enough to believe right we we

[26:58] must live right we must take what we

[27:01] know and what we believe and put it in

[27:05] the shoe leather and that's what Paul is

[27:07] saying uh to Titus and then in chapter

[27:10] two Paul encourages the Believers to

[27:13] live holy and then let it affect the way

[27:17] uh they speak uh look here uh in our

[27:21] text

[27:22] again and he says uh verse 12 uh

[27:26] teaching us that dying ungodliness and

[27:29] worldly lust we should live soberly

[27:32] righteously and godly uh in this present

[27:35] world so he's saying I I want you to

[27:39] think right I want you to believe right

[27:41] I want you to speak right and and in

[27:44] doing so I want you to have your mind

[27:48] keyed in on living Godly lives holy

[27:51] lives lives that are pleasing to the

[27:55] Lord why why because because verse 13

[27:59] says this that we are to be looking for

[28:03] that blessed hope and that glorious

[28:06] appearing of the great God and our

[28:09] Savior Jesus Christ so I want to preach

[28:12] to you tonight on this subject the

[28:15] Glorious appearing the Glorious

[28:18] appearing I'd like to share four

[28:20] Thoughts with you tonight out of this

[28:23] passage of scripture that I just gave

[28:24] you all uh right here in the text uh

[28:27] first first of all uh concerning the the

[28:31] coming of the Lord I want to ask you

[28:33] these four questions are you aware of

[28:36] the second coming are you aware of it do

[28:39] you understand about it do you know what

[28:42] it's all about are you aware and then

[28:45] number two are you looking are you

[28:48] looking for that blessed hope and that

[28:51] glorious appearing of the great God and

[28:54] our Savior Jesus Christ and then thirdly

[28:58] I want to ask you this question are you

[29:00] ready are you ready should the Lord come

[29:04] tonight are you ready and as you'll see

[29:07] when we get there it's not just enough

[29:09] to be saved that's not enough to be

[29:12] ready there's more to it we'll see that

[29:15] as we get there and then fourthly are

[29:17] you sharing about the second coming are

[29:21] you sharing about the second coming the

[29:24] first question I want to look at tonight

[29:26] is Are you a aware of the second coming

[29:30] and uh you know you say oh preacher I've

[29:33] heard since I was a little child about

[29:36] the second coming but you know for some

[29:39] the whole concept of the second coming

[29:41] because uh it doesn't uh for many of us

[29:45] seem right away or imminent uh it it's

[29:49] more of a concept in our mind that it is

[29:52] a reality in our heart and uh and so my

[29:56] question is are you aware

[29:58] that Jesus Christ is going to come again

[30:03] that that there is going to be a a

[30:06] coming in the sky that is referred to uh

[30:10] in theological terms as the Rapture I'll

[30:13] mention more about that in a moment a

[30:15] and then the resurrection where the dead

[30:18] in Christ are going to be brought up out

[30:20] of the Grave they're literally going to

[30:22] be resurrected and get new bodies and

[30:25] and be uh forever uh with the Lord now I

[30:29] I want to say this because boy oh boy

[30:32] are we living in a critical day

[30:34] everybody wants to criticize everything

[30:36] so let me get this off my chest tonight

[30:38] the word rapture is not a biblical term

[30:41] it is a theological term used to refer

[30:45] to the second coming of the Lord and

[30:48] when we talk about the second coming

[30:50] look up here every but I want you to see

[30:51] this there are two phases to the second

[30:54] coming there is what is referred to

[30:57] theological Ally as the Rapture or the

[31:00] snatching away I'll say more about that

[31:03] in a moment and there there is then also

[31:06] that part uh which is the second coming

[31:10] in the first one the Lord himself comes

[31:13] for his Saints and he comes that at that

[31:18] time as a thief in the night only those

[31:21] who know him will recognize him amen

[31:25] that's the Rapture or the first part

[31:27] part of the second coming and then there

[31:29] is the second coming where he comes the

[31:33] Bible says that Jesus comes back in

[31:36] power and great Glory uh the Saints have

[31:40] been with him for seven years at the be

[31:43] of judgment where our works are being

[31:47] judged and then we come back with him

[31:50] and uh we come in power and great Glory

[31:54] so the first part he comes for his

[31:56] Saints the second part he comes with his

[32:00] saints that is the second coming or the

[32:04] Revelation now when we talk about this

[32:07] word rapture or uh the second coming I

[32:12] think there are two better terms found

[32:14] in scripture I'm not going to preach on

[32:16] them the terms so much tonight but in

[32:19] Romans 8:19 uh Paul mentions it this

[32:23] coming as the earnest

[32:26] expectation and other words he's saying

[32:29] for those of us that are saved are

[32:31] youall with me here tonight for those of

[32:33] us that are saved it ought to be an

[32:35] Earnest expectation that Jesus could

[32:39] come at any moment amen it is our daily

[32:42] expectation I I believe that Jesus will

[32:45] come today if he doesn't come today I

[32:47] know he'll come tomorrow I mean that's

[32:50] an Earnest

[32:51] expectation and then there's a second

[32:54] term that better describes that coming

[32:56] than the word rapture

[32:58] and that is found right here in our text

[33:00] and he says in verse number 13 uh he

[33:03] says looking for that what that blessed

[33:06] hope and that glorious appearing of the

[33:11] great God and our savior uh Jesus Christ

[33:15] so I ask you tonight are you aware of

[33:19] the second coming of the Lord you say

[33:22] preacher uh is it really real well

[33:25] here's what John said about it John said

[33:28] let not your heart be troubled you

[33:30] believe in God believe also in me in my

[33:34] father's house or many manions if it

[33:36] were not so I would have told you I go

[33:40] and prepare a place for you and if I go

[33:43] and prepare a place for you I will come

[33:47] again that where I am there ye may be

[33:51] also take your Bibles and go back please

[33:54] uh to the book of uh 1 Thessalonians

[33:57] chapter four and when you found it give

[34:00] me an amen or two so I know you're all

[34:04] there all right good verse 13 1

[34:07] Thessalonians chapter 4 and verse

[34:11] 13 but I would not have you to be

[34:15] ignorant Brethren one preacher who

[34:17] couldn't read very well read it like

[34:19] this but I would not have you ignorant

[34:22] Brethren well that's not the case he

[34:25] would not have us to be ignorant

[34:27] Brethren concerning them which are

[34:30] asleep that you sorrow not even as

[34:33] others which have no hope look up here a

[34:35] minute how many of you have someone

[34:37] who's already in the grave but you know

[34:39] they were saved and you're thankful

[34:41] you're going to see them again amen so

[34:43] the Lord says look look don't you sorrow

[34:46] like other people here and worry about

[34:49] them because verse 14 for if we believe

[34:53] that Jesus died and rose again e even so

[34:58] them also which sleep in Jesus will God

[35:01] bring with him for this we say unto you

[35:04] by the word of the Lord that we which

[35:06] are alive and remain under the coming of

[35:09] the Lord shall not prevent them which

[35:11] are asleep for the Lord himself shall

[35:15] descend from heaven with a shout with

[35:18] the voice of the Archangel and with the

[35:21] Trump of God and the dead in Christ

[35:23] shall rise first then we which are alive

[35:27] and remain shall be caught up together

[35:29] with them in the clouds to meet the Lord

[35:32] in the air and so shall we ever be with

[35:36] the Lord and then he says do this

[35:39] Comfort one another with these words

[35:41] amen are you aware of the second coming

[35:44] I want to ask you this are you aware

[35:46] that it can be uh that it's going to be

[35:49] imminent now you say preacher what do

[35:51] you mean by imminent go back to 1

[35:53] Corinthians chapter 15 would

[35:56] you first 1 Corinthians chapter number

[36:01] 15 1 Corinthians 15 and verse number

[36:06] 52 actually let's go back to verse 51

[36:09] just to set the stage a little bit he

[36:12] said behold I show you a mystery we

[36:15] shall not all sleep but we shall all be

[36:18] changed that was the motto in our

[36:20] Nursery at our church our last church

[36:23] that was on the wall we're not all sleep

[36:25] but we'll all be changed right

[36:28] behold verse 51 or ver verse 52 in a

[36:32] moment in a twinkling of an eye at the

[36:35] last Trump for the trumpet shall sound

[36:38] and the dead shall be raised

[36:41] Incorruptible and we shall be changed I

[36:46] want you to know that it could be at any

[36:49] moment Matthew 24:44 says this be ye

[36:52] therefore also ready for in such an hour

[36:56] as you think not the son of man cometh

[37:00] it's an imminent coming not only is it

[37:02] imminent but if you're aware of the

[37:05] second coming you also know that it's

[37:08] pre-tribulational you say preacher why

[37:10] do you mention that tonight well let me

[37:12] tell you why because I believe that we

[37:15] are in the last

[37:16] days I actually believe that we're in

[37:20] the very last days of the last days I

[37:23] believe our Lord indeed could come at

[37:25] any moment and I believe the world stage

[37:28] is set for the coming of our Lord and

[37:31] here's what I want you to know people

[37:33] ask me all the time brother Turner uh

[37:36] there's argument about whether we go

[37:38] through the tribulation or not whether

[37:41] Jesus comes for us before the

[37:44] tribulation period I want to make it so

[37:46] clear to you tonight if you go just

[37:49] write these things down and I'll I'll

[37:51] I'll give you the dialogue about them in

[37:53] Revelation chap 1 2 and 3 uh we see

[37:58] the the church being set up for the

[38:01] Glorious appearing of the Lord a and

[38:05] then in chapter 4 we see the trumpet

[38:08] sound and the Lord comes for his church

[38:12] now I I challenge you go back after

[38:16] chapter 4 and start reading and guess

[38:19] what you will find you will find that

[38:22] the culture of the book changes from the

[38:26] church it changes to

[38:29] Israel it changes to Israel and takes us

[38:33] through the period uh of the tribulation

[38:36] and through the Millennium and then in

[38:40] uh to Eternity uh also right down Daniel

[38:44] 9 Daniel

[38:46] 9:24 through 27 which talks about those

[38:49] final seven years of uh tribulation and

[38:54] I I'll just tell you D when you go home

[38:56] read this check me in out read it for

[38:58] yourself you don't have to take my word

[39:00] for it read it for yourself and you will

[39:03] find that the Bible clearly says that

[39:06] those days of Jacob's sorrow Jacob rep

[39:10] representing Israel that these days are

[39:15] DET determined upon thy People Israel

[39:19] they are not determined upon uh the

[39:22] people of God the the return of the Lord

[39:27] is a

[39:29] pre-tribulational return I want you to

[39:31] go to chapter 5 would

[39:34] you of first Thessalonians 1

[39:37] Thessalonians chapter

[39:39] 5 and when you get there give me another

[39:43] amen first Thessalonians chapter number

[39:50] eight but let us who are of the day be

[39:55] sober putting on the breastplate of

[39:58] faith and love and for in helmet the

[40:01] hope of salvation for God ha not

[40:06] appointed us to wrath but to obtain

[40:11] salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ verse

[40:15] 11 wherefore Comfort yourselves together

[40:19] and edify one another even also as you

[40:23] do look up here just a minute he's

[40:25] saying listen you need to have good

[40:28] heart about this uh that you're not

[40:31] going through the tribulation God didn't

[40:33] appoint you to wrath now let me just

[40:35] talk to you a minute here's why that's

[40:37] so important because when Jesus died on

[40:40] the cross he bore your sins and he took

[40:45] your wrath and he paid for it on the

[40:48] cross and it's sacrilegious to believe

[40:51] that he's got to run us through the

[40:53] tribulation to clean us up let me tell

[40:55] you when he saved you Christ in me is

[40:58] the hope of glory I've been justified by

[41:02] faith just as if I had never sinned you

[41:05] said yeah but you are a sinner yes but

[41:08] my sins in the eyes of God are gone

[41:10] buried in the deepest sea and never to

[41:13] be remembered again as far as the East

[41:15] is from the west and God is not going to

[41:18] run me through the tribulation to clean

[41:21] me up I am clean by his Precious Blood

[41:25] so I don't need the tri ation period uh

[41:28] to do that are you aware are you aware

[41:32] of the second coming the second question

[41:34] I have for you tonight is are you

[41:37] looking notice in verse 13 uh of our

[41:40] text again tonight in verse 13 He said

[41:43] looking for that blessed hope and that

[41:48] glorious appearing uh of the great God

[41:51] and our Savior Jesus Christ are you

[41:55] looking now now listen to me just a

[41:58] moment here would you

[42:00] tonight this concept of looking for the

[42:03] second

[42:04] coming th this doesn't paint a picture

[42:08] of uh standing

[42:10] outside with a a pair of

[42:13] binoculars and looking across the sky to

[42:16] see if you can find Jesus I was riding

[42:20] on a plane maybe four or five years ago

[42:23] and we got up in these puffy clouds that

[42:26] look like you can jump out the plane and

[42:28] bounce on them you know and uh the

[42:30] little there was a little boy maybe 3

[42:32] four years old behind me uh with his

[42:35] mother and he said mama mama is that

[42:40] where Jesus is

[42:42] hiding and for some that's kind of the

[42:45] concept we have of Jesus right he's up

[42:47] there in the heavens and he's hiding and

[42:50] but he says he's going to come back so

[42:53] all of us are going to get outside and

[42:55] get our binoculars and we're going to

[42:57] we're going to just sit there 24 hours a

[42:59] day 7 days a week until Jesus comes back

[43:02] looking no that's not what this is

[43:04] saying this is saying that we ought to

[43:06] live in

[43:08] expectation in expectation every day we

[43:11] ought to expect that he is coming

[43:14] remember I mentioned that that

[43:16] expectation of Romans 8:19 that there

[43:19] ought to be this desire uh to watch and

[43:23] wait and look for the coming uh of our

[43:27] Lord Jesus Christ I've already given you

[43:30] some verses but be you therefore also

[43:33] ready for in such an hour as you think

[43:35] not the son of man cometh go to First

[43:37] Peter chapter 4 first Peter almost to

[43:40] the end of your Bibles there 1 Peter

[43:42] chapter number four and give me another

[43:45] shout out would

[43:47] you 1 Peter chapter 4 verse number

[43:53] seven wait a minute here

[43:57] first Peter uh no wonder I'm in chapter

[44:00] three I knew it didn't look

[44:01] right 1 Peter chapter 4 verse number

[44:07] now but the end of all things is at hand

[44:11] be you therefore sober that's sound mind

[44:17] really believe Jesus is

[44:22] us ought to take a good look at our

[44:25] heart tonight at in ation

[44:28] time and if there's nonsense in our

[44:31] heart if there's sin in our life if

[44:33] there's something that's keeping us from

[44:35] being right with God we ought to get at

[44:37] this altar because he could come tonight

[44:40] amen so he says in verse number seven

[44:43] the thing end of all things is at hand

[44:46] be sober watch watch under prayer Watch

[44:49] under prayer and then he says listen

[44:51] while you're watching for Jesus above

[44:54] all things have fervent charity among

[44:57] yourselves another love one another

[44:59] while you're listen what hypocrisy to

[45:02] wait for Jesus and hate each

[45:06] other said have charity among yourselves

[45:10] and charity shall cover a multitude of

[45:13] sins you know when you love somebody the

[45:16] the Bible tells us that we put up with

[45:18] each other you know we put up with each

[45:20] other you verse 9 use Hospitality one to

[45:23] another without grudging we need to be

[45:26] watching in for the coming of the Lord

[45:28] in other words the Bible's teaching us

[45:31] that there ought to be a daily

[45:34] expectation

[45:36] so I've used my wife a lot as an

[45:39] illustration this week somebody said to

[45:41] me the other day on Sunday said if she's

[45:44] here you wouldn't have been talking like

[45:46] that I would

[45:49] have and and she knows she knows I I

[45:52] tease about her all the

[45:54] time but I've got one of those wives

[45:58] everything has to be perfect around the

[46:01] house and then and then we might be

[46:03] sitting there okay so once in a while I

[46:06] get to go

[46:07] home uh the 22nd or 3rd I think we head

[46:12] home so 24th I ought to be home and I

[46:16] might be sitting there in my big chair

[46:19] and all of a sudden I

[46:22] hear the phone ring and somebody says

[46:26] brother Turner heard you're back in town

[46:29] we thought we'd drop by and say

[46:32] hello it doesn't matter how

[46:34] clean our house is my wife goes into

[46:39] overdrive any other ladies like that

[46:42] around here yeah I can see the ladies

[46:43] got the ladies have this picture every

[46:46] lady in here smiling it's like but and I

[46:49] say honey it's fine everything is fine I

[46:51] don't want it to be just fine I I get

[46:55] make sure you're make sure your chair is

[47:00] straight I've got this little pouch that

[47:03] sits on the edge of the

[47:05] couch pouch it's not for tobacco no I

[47:08] don't use tobacco that's not a good word

[47:11] not pouch it's it's a little container I

[47:13] have ink pins and stuff she'll say make

[47:16] sure all that's cleaned up you got any

[47:18] books over there on the floor get the

[47:20] books up take them to take him to the

[47:24] office expectation yes makes you do

[47:28] things for

[47:31] Preparation when you have expectation

[47:33] that the Lord might come and you know

[47:36] you got dirty laundry down deep in your

[47:38] soul you want to get to the Altar and

[47:40] get it fixed right you say preacher but

[47:43] I everything's good with me is

[47:47] it if it is I say praise the Lord

[47:50] hallelujah but I'm going to tell you

[47:52] every time I sit and hear the preaching

[47:54] God speaks to my heart and and there's

[47:57] usually something I need to get right

[47:59] that's why I set up here tonight from

[48:01] about uh 5:45 till service time praying

[48:05] for my own self praying that my own

[48:07] heart would be pure and clean and that

[48:10] my mind would be pure and clean and that

[48:12] if there was any sin at all the Lord

[48:14] would reveal it to my heart and I'd get

[48:16] it right before I got up to preach here

[48:18] tonight because I live in that constant

[48:21] expectation that any moment he could

[48:24] come in a twinkling of an I he could

[48:27] come and I want to say to you therefore

[48:31] we must be ready therefore we must be

[48:35] ready are you looking tonight and then

[48:38] thirdly I want to ask you this question

[48:40] are you

[48:42] ready are you ready you say oh preacher

[48:45] I I'm ready I'm I'm saved I I want to I

[48:49] want to give you three thoughts about

[48:50] being ready first are you ready in

[48:55] Salvation I was preaching in Washington

[49:00] state for a dear friend this probably

[49:04] been 8 10 years

[49:07] ago at the end of the service on Sunday

[49:14] morning the youth pastor walked forward

[49:17] with one of he and his wife walked

[49:19] forward with one of the young ladies out

[49:21] of the youth

[49:23] group and uh they said pastor and Pastor

[49:27] stepped down and then Pastor got back in

[49:30] the pull pit and said this young lady

[49:32] wants to give her

[49:34] testimony and she began to tell the

[49:36] story that she'd been raised in that

[49:38] church since she was

[49:41] born she'd ridden on the bus as a bus

[49:44] worker she had done all the things that

[49:47] you do at church she'd sung in the choir

[49:49] you know she participated in the youth

[49:52] group she did all that she went to Youth

[49:54] Camp in the summer but that morning as I

[49:57] preached and asked the question H are

[50:01] you really saved do you know for sure

[50:03] that you've been born again she realized

[50:06] that for her she had never made that

[50:08] decision her parents had made it for her

[50:11] they told her we remember when you were

[50:12] like four years old and you walk forward

[50:15] but she didn't remember it and had no

[50:17] concept of what she had done and that

[50:19] day she came and got gloriously saved

[50:22] and she was shouting Hallelujah at the

[50:24] altar

[50:27] after the service was over I half of my

[50:31] life is waiting on the

[50:33] preacher preachers have things to do

[50:36] after church it's just the way it is and

[50:40] so I just went down sat down on the

[50:42] front row and minded my own business and

[50:45] a lady about in her 50s came and sat by

[50:49] me and she said may I speak to you and I

[50:52] said sure she

[50:55] said I I said that young girl kind of

[50:59] Flushed me out this

[51:01] morning she said I've been on the rolls

[51:04] here for 30

[51:05] years she said you know when I listened

[51:09] to her testimony I began to

[51:11] think and I realized that I went forward

[51:15] at Youth Camp and there was a big crowd

[51:17] at the altar no one dealt with me I

[51:19] don't even know what I did I just stood

[51:22] there and they just said all these young

[51:23] people came to get saved tonight and she

[51:26] said I honestly went through all of the

[51:29] procedures but I I did not know in my

[51:32] heart she said I've never had peace

[51:35] every time I hear about the Lord coming

[51:37] back it scares me to death because I'm

[51:39] really not sure uh that that I've been

[51:42] born again I don't have the peace that I

[51:44] have been and she said what should I do

[51:47] and I looked at her I said

[51:51] duh I said let me get pastor

[51:56] pastor had the privilege to lead that

[51:58] lady in her 50s who' been a member of

[52:00] the church 30 some years leader to

[52:03] Christ I want to say to you we need to

[52:05] be sure are you ready ready in Salvation

[52:09] do you know for sure you're born again

[52:11] I'm not asking you did Mom and Dad tell

[52:13] you yeah when you were three or four you

[52:15] went forward I'm not asking you I said

[52:17] do you know there was a time and a place

[52:19] when you understood the gospel that

[52:22] Jesus died and was buried and

[52:25] resurrected and you understood you could

[52:27] not be born into the family of God

[52:29] without that I'm not asking you if

[52:31] you're a church member I'm not asking

[52:32] you how long you've tied here I'm not

[52:35] asking you that I'm asking you do you

[52:37] know that Jesus Christ is your savior

[52:40] tonight by faith and faith

[52:43] alone are you ready in Salvation number

[52:45] two are you ready in

[52:48] sanctification you say preacher where's

[52:51] that in the text well it's right here

[52:53] look at verse 12 teaching us that

[52:57] denying

[52:58] ungodliness and worldly

[53:01] lust we should live

[53:04] soberly

[53:06] righteously and godly in this present

[53:11] world that's sanctification of our life

[53:14] amen you see when God saved us he

[53:17] Sanctified us he set us apart from the

[53:20] world called us out of the world but he

[53:23] expects for us to continue sanctified

[53:26] ing ourselves until one day we are

[53:29] totally Sanctified because we have a new

[53:32] body in the presence of the Lord amen

[53:35] let me ask you how you living your

[53:40] life I want to be careful

[53:44] here but I fear that our

[53:48] churches are full of people who are

[53:52] professing

[53:54] Christians and do not necessarily ly

[53:57] possess

[54:01] Christ have gone through the

[54:03] motions and because of that they are not

[54:06] living a Sanctified life because if you

[54:09] really do not know Christ as your savior

[54:11] I got news for you tonight friend you

[54:13] cannot live to God's standards it is

[54:17] impossible to live soberly and

[54:19] righteously and godly that only comes

[54:22] from the new man that is in you if any

[54:25] man being in chist he is a new creature

[54:28] old things are passed away and behold

[54:31] all things are become New 2 Corinthians

[54:38] 57 almost every meeting I

[54:42] have and have had around this country

[54:45] over the

[54:47] last 58 almost 59 years of

[54:53] ministry people come to me and say

[54:55] brother Turner

[54:58] The church here would think I'm a pretty

[55:01] good Christian but there's some struggle

[55:03] going on in my heart that nobody knows

[55:14] about I want tell you God

[55:20] knows you know our churches are full of

[55:23] people that are caught up in pornography

[55:28] our churches are caught up with

[55:31] people whose

[55:33] mouths are being used to spread gossip

[55:36] and railing against one

[55:39] another our churches are full of people

[55:43] who have bitterness and they can't serve

[55:45] God because they're bitter in their

[55:48] heart our churches are full of

[55:51] people who come to church on Sunday and

[55:54] all they do is look at the ones around

[55:56] them and criticize and I'm going to tell

[55:58] you my friend if you come to that place

[56:00] when you sit and you just criticize what

[56:02] everybody else is doing it is you my

[56:05] friend who needs to be at the

[56:09] altar sanctification

[56:13] soberly that means I'm I'm watching

[56:16] about my own life I'm I'm I'm being

[56:19] careful there were things in my Ministry

[56:22] I did to make sure that I didn't mess up

[56:25] for instance I I pastored 44 years I

[56:27] never counseled a young lady in my

[56:30] office or an old lady for that matter in

[56:33] my office without my wife present there

[56:35] not not because I felt I was going to do

[56:38] something wrong but because I didn't

[56:40] want any accusations against

[56:47] me that's why when I go to a hotel room

[56:51] are y'all with me here when I go to a

[56:53] hotel

[56:54] room I know ahead of time what channels

[56:59] that I will punch

[57:02] in and I do not

[57:05] surf because as you surf Satan will surf

[57:09] with

[57:11] you and he will present things to your

[57:14] eyes and I'm going to tell you all have

[57:17] sinned and come short of the glory of

[57:20] God I'm saying we need to be sober in

[57:23] how we behave and righteous right means

[57:26] we ought to do right and listen to me I

[57:29] don't care what anyone else does it is

[57:32] never right to do wrong because someone

[57:35] else is doing something you think is

[57:38] wrong

[57:42] never are you ready in

[57:45] Salvation are you ready in

[57:47] sanctification and thirdly are you ready

[57:50] in

[57:51] service you say where's that at verse

[57:54] 14 who gave him himself for

[57:58] us that he might redeem us from all

[58:01] iniquity and purify unto himself a

[58:05] peculiar people read the last part with

[58:07] me together here we go zealous of Good

[58:11] Works let's do it together zealous of

[58:14] Good Works God said listen you ought to

[58:17] be ready and serving amen what are you

[58:19] doing for the

[58:23] Lord can I can I say that again what are

[58:26] you doing for the

[58:29] Lord in order to please

[58:36] him are you

[58:40] ready and then lastly

[58:44] tonight are you

[58:46] sharing about the second coming you say

[58:49] preacher surely that's not there yes it

[58:51] is look at verse

[58:54] 15 he just gave us all this advice and

[58:58] in verse 15 what does he say these

[59:02] things

[59:04] speak what are we to be speaking about

[59:07] well we're to be speaking about the

[59:09] grace of God that has been revealed in

[59:11] verse 11 we're to be speaking about uh

[59:14] in verse number 12 uh uh the godliness

[59:18] that God wants us to live in and then

[59:21] we're to be speaking about the Glorious

[59:24] appearing in verse 13 so what we're to

[59:26] be doing is winning people to Christ

[59:29] teaching them how to live for Christ and

[59:32] teaching them how to look for the coming

[59:35] of the Lord Jesus Christ as I close

[59:38] tonight I want to ask you these

[59:40] questions one more

[59:44] time are you aware of his

[59:50] coming I I I I don't mean is it just a

[59:53] concept in your head but are you aware

[59:54] that it's real

[59:59] are are you

[60:01] looking are you looking for his

[60:05] coming are you anticipating every single

[60:09] day that today could be the

[60:14] day are you ready are you ready in

[60:17] Salvation do you know for sure that if

[60:20] you died tonight and they took you over

[60:22] to the funeral home and prepared your

[60:24] body for the grave are you one 100% sure

[60:27] that you'd be absent from your body and

[60:29] present with

[60:35] God are you ready in

[60:39] sanctification is there something in

[60:40] your heart tonight you know is not

[60:44] right you say well you know there's

[60:46] other people around this church that

[60:48] aren't right yeah yeah I know I have to

[60:51] tell you I I remember one time a

[60:54] preacher preaching I had no respect for

[60:58] I sat down in the back and I said to my

[60:59] wife oh look who's

[61:02] preaching soon as I said oh look who's

[61:04] preaching God said you just shut your

[61:07] mouth because my word will not return

[61:10] void it's not a matter who's preaching

[61:12] it it's a matter of my

[61:14] word and the message he preached was

[61:17] right down the alley into my

[61:19] heart and as much as I hated walking

[61:22] forward and kneeling in front of him I

[61:23] did because God told me to

[61:27] the reality is we need to sanctify Our

[61:29] Lives be sure for sin that we're willing

[61:33] to confess our sin here's the good news

[61:35] if we do he is faithful and just to

[61:38] forgive us our sins and cleanse us from

[61:41] all and

[61:45] righteousness are you ready in

[61:48] service you're not serving him why not

[61:51] get on

[61:51] board find a place to serve in the in

[61:54] the local church

[61:56] be pleasing to the Lord and then lastly

[61:59] are you sharing this world needs to hear

[62:01] about Jesus amen can I just say this and

[62:04] I'll be done the Great Commission is to

[62:07] go into all the world and preach the

[62:09] gospel to every creature and may I say

[62:11] to you

[62:12] tonight that that is not a Divine

[62:17] suggestion it is a

[62:20] command

[62:21] go go where into all the world and to

[62:25] whom to every

[62:27] creature and preach the gospel to

[62:31] them every day I live in the excitement

[62:34] that Jesus could come

[62:36] today it will be a glorious

[62:39] appearing of our great God and our

[62:43] Savior Jesus Christ are you aware

[62:47] tonight let's stand to our feet

[62:50] please our heads are bowed our eyes are

[62:53] closed

[63:04] just a moment we'll have a couple of

[63:54] trying to live a life that is pure and

[63:57] clean you got your eyes on somebody else

[64:00] get them off somebody else get them on

[64:09] gospel when's the last time you took a

[64:11] Bible and shared Christ with somebody

[64:14] when's the last time you took a track

[64:16] and handed it out to somebody when's the

[64:17] last time you brought somebody to the

[64:20] house of God to hear the

[64:23] preaching if Jesus came tonight there's

[64:25] no doubt that some of our friends would

[64:28] perish eternally in the Lake of Fire

[64:31] some of our family maybe would perish

[64:33] eternally in the Lake of Fire what are

[64:35] you doing about that are you

[64:38] sharing piano's going to begin to play

[64:40] I'm going to pray I'm going to ask you

[64:41] tonight if God spoke in your heart would

[64:43] you join these that have already come to

[64:45] the altar tonight Heavenly Father we ask
