[0:14] down at the Justice Center in downtown
[0:16] Portland all day. He joins us now with
[0:18] the very latest on these first two
[0:20] arrests in the Nancy Carrian affair.

[0:22] >> Well, Kim and Pat, for those who've
[0:23] covered this city and this state for
[0:24] some time, today is definitely going to
[0:26] go down on record as one of the wildest
[0:28] ever. First tonight, news reports of
[0:31] arrests in this rapidly changing story
[0:34] started surfacing early yesterday, and
[0:36] those reports continued all day today.
[0:40] But until just a couple of hours ago,
[0:42] there was no one in police custody. Late
[0:44] this evening, all that changed.
[0:47] 26-year-old Shawn Echart was hurried
[0:49] into police headquarters in downtown
[0:51] Portland about 7:30 tonight. Now, Echart
[0:54] is accused of plotting the January 6th
[0:57] assault on Tanya Harding's top skating
[1:00] rival, Nancy Carrian. Echart did not
[1:02] speak to reporters as he was led
[1:04] handcuffed into the Justice Center Jail.
[1:07] >> Sean Eart, he's in for conspiracy to
[1:09] commit assault too, which carries what
[1:11] kind of penalty?
[1:13] >> Well, it's $20,000 bail at this time.
[1:15] was class B felony.
[1:17] >> Once Echart was in the hands of Multma
[1:20] County jail officials, federal officials
[1:22] brought this man to jail. He is
[1:24] identified as 29year-old Derek Brian
[1:27] Smith. Like Echart, Smith is charged
[1:30] with conspiracy to commit assault.
[1:32] That's a state charge. Authorities
[1:34] believe Smith may have driven the
