[0:34] From ABC News World Headquarters in New
[0:37] York, Monday, [music] January 19th,
[0:42] this is World News Tonight with Peter
[0:44] Jennings.
[0:44] >> Good evening. We're going to begin

[1:15] Washington.
[1:18] This small college tried to carry on
[1:20] with life as usual today, but the
[1:22] professor who took the students to
[1:23] Guatemala and ended up at gunpoint while
[1:26] some of them were raped found himself on
[1:28] the defensive.
[1:29] >> We knew that there was uh criminal
[1:31] activity certainly uh to be considered
[1:34] and we we thought we were taking the
[1:37] necessary precautions to to ensure the
[1:40] safety of the group. In fact, the State
[1:42] Department routinely warns travelers to
[1:44] Guatem
