[1:10] Now live, this is a Hurricane Francis

[1:13] update.

[1:14] >> And good evening once again. and Brian

[1:15] Norcross here in weather control

[1:17] bringing you up to date on Hurricane

[1:19] Francis as it continues its march here

[1:22] north of Puerto Rico. And you can see

[1:24] the development of this storm during the

[1:26] day today. It is a classic looking

[1:28] hurricane. Look how round the purple

[1:31] areas are there. Now it was 140 mph at

[1:35] 5:00. And it certainly does not look to

[1:37] us like it's gotten any weaker. And it

[1:39] might even have gotten stronger. It's on

[1:41] this westn northwest track that's going

[1:43] to take it tomorrow very close if not

[1:46] over the Turks and Caos and the southern

[1:49] Bahamas. And then what's going to happen

[1:51] after that is the big question. Here are

[1:53] the numbers as of 5:00. 20.5 and 65.9.

[1:57] There are the winds 140 mph moving west

[2:00] at 17. Now if you do the calculation

[2:03] from South Florida to the hurricane and

[2:06] you measure the 17 miles an hour, that

[2:08] would put it here Friday morning. if it

[2:10] were to come directly here, which is

[2:13] only one of many, many, many

[2:15] possibilities and not even necessarily

[2:17] the most likely possibility, but

[2:19] certainly we can't discount that

[2:21] possibility. Pressure measured at 5:00

[2:24] was 939. It's actually up a little bit

[2:26] in the last measurement, but still very,

[2:28] very strong hurricane at 5 800 miles

[2:31] east of Nassau in the Bahamas. Now, here

[2:34] is the future track. storm moves by to

[2:36] the north of Hispanola and then

[2:39] Wednesday, southern Bahamas. That's

[2:41] tomorrow. Thursday, central Bahamas. But

[2:44] if we're all having good luck here, it's

[2:46] going to be off to the east and uh

[2:50] avoiding all of us. But that is at all

[2:52] not at all guaranteed. And actually some

[2:55] late information coming in makes us

[2:57] think that's at least going to come very

[2:59] close to the central Bahamas on

[3:00] Thursday. And then Friday afternoon,

[3:04] here is the circle somewhere in that

[3:06] circle. Now, with this high forward

[3:08] speed, the uh thinking is that it's

[3:10] probably going to get here into the

[3:12] northern Bahamas somewhere in here or

[3:14] maybe it's over here. If we're all

[3:16] lucky, if we are certainly unlucky, it's

[3:18] going to be down here because the

[3:21] obviously the further to the left it is,

[3:23] the worse for us somewhere in this

[3:25] general vicinity on Friday afternoon.

[3:28] Now, the question is how fast is it

[3:30] moving? And some indications are that it

[3:32] might slow down in this area some. So

[3:35] that would give us more time. In fact,

[3:37] some indications it'll just slow down in

[3:38] general as it's uh approaching and

[3:40] making its turn here if it makes that

[3:43] turn. So all those things are unknown at

[3:46] this point. We uh we are just in a wait

[3:48] and watch and see mode.

[3:52] Excuse me. A lot of Francis talk here,

[3:56] but the bottom line is that we're gonna

[3:58] watch this thing here for the next few

[4:00] days. All right, before I lose my voice

[4:02] completely, let's send it out to Maggie

[4:04] and Rob with election news tonight.

[4:06] >> All right, we'll pick it up here. Thank

[4:07] you, Brian. We're following campaign

[4:08] 2004 tonight and the state's primary

[4:10] election.

[4:11] >> It is now, as you know, past 7:00. The

[4:13] polls have just closed in Miami Date and

[4:15] Broward counties. A live picture from

[4:17] Miami date election headquarters where

[4:18] the votes are being in the process of uh

[4:21] counting. CBS4 News is in Broward as

[4:25] well.

[4:25] >> Sorry about that, Matt. They're being

[4:27] counted now.

[4:28] >> There are no major reports of any

[4:30] problems in either county. We will be

[4:32] here monitoring results all night long

[4:34] for you. Look for updates every hour

[4:36] throughout the evening, plus results and

[4:38] reaction on our sister station UPN 33 at

[4:41] 10:00 and right here on CBS4 News at 11.

[4:44] >> Now, we'll go back to your regular

[4:45] programming. See you in 1 hour.

[4:48] >> Well, this is even more interesting than

[4:50] I thought. At 29, Angelina has a long

[4:53] wish list of things to do.
