[0:00] for like a you know restaurant.
[0:01] >> These Americans beat Saddam Hussein in
[0:04] court but can't collect. Wait till you
[0:07] hear who's stopping them. And thieves
[0:11] who specialize. They don't want the
[0:13] whole car, just one valuable part.
[0:23] This is the CBS Evening News with Dan
[0:26] Rather reporting from CBS News
[0:28] headquarters in New York. Good evening.
[0:31] It's been 2 weeks now, two weeks since
[0:33] the serial sniper began a murderous
[0:36] spree that has terrorized the Washington
[0:38] DC area. 11 people shot, nine of them

[1:16] witnesses have been able to give them.
[1:18] It is helping them to narrow the search
[1:20] for the suspect's vehicle, but other
[1:23] tips have proven to be less helpful.
[1:26] The witnesses gave investigators a lot
[1:28] of information, but not all of it will
[1:30] be of much use. For example, someone saw
[1:33] the gunman lean on a van to take aim at
[1:35] his victim and fire from no more than 60
[1:38] ft away. That witness says the van left
[1:40] the lot at a normal pace. No hurry. But
[1:43] he can't say
