[0:00] Chief, good night.
[0:02] >> The rush is on to get the last hold outs
[0:04] out of New Orleans and away from the
[0:06] bacteriainfested floodwaters as the
[0:10] first disease related deaths are
[0:12] reported in the hurricane zone. And the
[0:15] government warns the disaster will have
[0:17] a significant impact on the US economy
[0:20] and your heating bill. Good evening, I'm
[0:23] Bob Schaefer. John Roberts in New
[0:25] Orleans is again heading up our coverage
[0:28] of the devastation on the Gulf Coast.
[0:31] Tonight, police are going to every house
[0:33] here and telling people they have to
[0:35] leave. Evacuees are trying to adjust to
[0:38] a very different world, very far from
[0:41] home. And hurricane victims are finding
[0:43] new ways to reach out and find lost
[0:46] relatives.
[0:51] This is the CBS Evening News with Bob
[0:55] Schaefer.

[1:04] Disease Control, told them today they
[1:06] must get out. She spoke after the first
[1:09] government test confirmed that flood
[1:11] water bacteria from sewage are now 10
[1:15] times higher than acceptable safety
[1:17] levels. Four people in the disaster zone
[1:20] are now believed dead because of
[1:22] bacteria in the water. And the danger
[1:25] now is from E. coli germs, certain
[1:27] viruses, and chalera-like bacteria
[1:30] common in warm Gulf Coast waters. Again,
[1:33] tonight we have CBS News correspondents,
[1:36] producers, and photographers spread
[1:38] across the region and at evacuee centers
[1:41] across the country. We start in New
[1:43] Orleans with John Robbins. John,
[1:46] >> good evening. Bob, officials here are
[1:49] very ser
