[0:00] Coin TV 6, your official air show
[0:02] television station.
[0:05] Now on Hard Copy, you already know
[0:08] Pamela Anderson reduced her breast size,
[0:11] but is her belly about to get bigger. We
[0:15] rocked the cradle to get to the bottom
[0:17] of Pam's family plan.
[0:21] >> It's very easy to die in situations like
[0:24] that, especially if they don't know what
[0:26] they're doing. These institutions are
[0:28] supposed to help out of control kids,
[0:30] but some say their techniques nearly
[0:32] killed them.
[0:32] >> He broke my nose and fractured my jaw. I
[0:35] was choking on my blood.
[0:36] >> Caught on tape, the school of hard
[0:39] knocks.
[0:41] North Las Vegas cops come under fire
[0:43] from fellow officers claiming crime and
[0:45] corruption within the department.
[0:47] >> I'm exposing corruption and I'm exposing
[0:50] money laundering and racketeering.
[0:51] >> We investigate this Sim City scandal.
[0:56] Plus, MMA mia. Meet the sexy American
[1:00] actresses who have Italians tuning in
[1:02] and turning on.
[1:04] And is Julia Roberts dashing TV
[1:07] detective leaving his pretty woman for
[1:10] the material girl? The truth squad
[1:12] investigates.
[1:17] This is hard copy for Monday, May 3rd.
[1:21] Hi there and welcome. I'm Kyle Kra.
[1:23] Pamela Anderson's fans freaked when the
[1:25] blonde beauty reduced her bra size and
[1:27] went back to bad boy husband Tommy Lee.
[1:30] Well, wait, do they hear one possible
[1:32] reason for all the changes in Pam's
[1:34] life? Hollywood's a buzz with VIP baby
[1:37] talk. Hard Copy first brought you the
[1:39] shocking news Pamela and Tommy Lee had
[1:41] reconciled. Now we may know why.
[1:44] >> The big hot rumor in Hollywood is that
[1:47] Pamela Lee is uh is pregnant. Adding
[1:50] fuel to the family fire rumor, Pam and
[1:52] Tommy have taken the for sale sign down
[1:54] on the Malibu Love Nest,
[1:57] Tommy's decided to quit his band. And
[2:00] even Pam's PR folks are saying, quote,
[2:03] "The two plan on moving slowly to create
[2:05] a new safe platform for their family."
[2:08] End quote. Now that family may have a
[2:10] new addition, and that's no surprise to
[2:13] Megan Lieberman, whose magazine recently
[2:15] interviewed the VIP star. Pamela told us
[2:18] that she really puts her role as a mom
[2:21] first. It's the most important thing to
[2:22] her and she really wants them to have a
[2:24] father around.
[2:25] >> And listen to what a very repentant
[2:27] Tommy said on LA's K-Rock radio about
[2:30] missing his kids in jail.
[2:32] >> I spent pretty much every night there
[2:34] crying about it, you know, trying to
[2:36] deal as best I could with not seeing
[2:39] them.
[2:39] >> Some believe Pam, seen here in this
[2:41] exclusive hard copy video, had her
[2:43] breast reduced because she planned to
[2:45] become pregnant. And then there's the
[2:47] really bizarre twist. The man who played
[2:49] Matchmaker, another star who's been
[2:52] jailed for abusing women.
[2:54] >> Mike Tyson pleaded with her to return to
[2:58] to Tommy. Well, considering Mike Tyson's
[3:01] background, of course, he would be in uh
[3:04] in Tommy Lee's corner.
[3:06] >> But the big question is, can the guy who
[3:08] served time for slapping the sexy star
[3:10] while holding one of their kids become a
[3:13] loving father all over again? If they
[3:16] see him hit her again, I think that
[3:17] would be the end of the relationship.
[3:19] What you want for the kids is not
[3:21] someone who will hurt your mom. That you
[3:24] can't live with.
[3:25] >> Tommy told Krock, "Everything's changed.
[3:28] >> Mama and the kids are back and it's like
[3:31] I don't know that we went through a
[3:33] really crappy year and um
[3:37] >> I don't know. It just uh it's amazing."
[3:39] Pregnant or not, it seems the sexual
[3:40] magnetism is just too strong to keep Pam
[3:43] and Tommy Lee apart.
[3:45] >> It's just fatal attractions. They just
[3:47] can't shake each other.
[3:50] >> And now that his anger management
[3:52] classes are behind him, look for Tommy
[3:53] Lee to work himself into a lather of a
[3:55] very different kind. We're told he and
[3:57] Pam will appear together in a bubble
[3:59] bath skit at the upcoming World Music
[4:02] Awards in Monaco.
[4:04] Now to Sin City where two cops are
[4:06] pointing the finger of blame at their
[4:07] own police department. But as Ed Miller
[4:10] reports, they say their efforts to make
[4:11] the city a safer place has put them in
[4:14] danger.
[4:16] >> Beyond the forbidden neon delights and
[4:18] decadence of Las Vegas, there lies
[4:20] another town with the same name and its
[4:23] own kind of sin.
[4:24] >> They don't want people to know all the
[4:26] things that are going on in the city of
[4:28] North Las Vegas and its police
[4:29] department. And maybe that's because the
[4:32] local police and city officials are
[4:33] starring in their own real life version
[4:35] of a sorted show you might call North
[4:38] Las Vegas Vice. I uncovered some things
[4:41] that the administration of the police
[4:42] department uh was involved in.
[4:45] >> Cops Mike Thomas and John Armstrong say
[4:47] they actually became victims of their
[4:49] own justice system when they blew the
[4:51] whistle on official corruption. I was
[4:54] getting phone calls about six calls a
[4:55] day from police officers, fellow police
[4:58] officers telling me, "Mike, you better
[5:00] watch your back."
[5:02] >> Thomas says the trouble erupted when he
[5:04] exposed an alleged money skimming scam.
[5:07] >> The union gets $330
[5:11] per person from the city for health
[5:13] insurance. Yet, they only turn around
[5:15] and pay about $140 for health insurance.
[5:18] So, where's the extra money? Thomas
[5:20] reported it to city officials only to be
[5:23] fired over what he says was a trivial
[5:25] and bogus charge.
[5:27] >> I was fired essentially because I didn't
[5:29] fuel a patrol car. We've gone from our
[5:32] vehicles being keyed in the police
[5:34] parking lot to union officials uh
[5:37] throwing elbows uh onto us walking down
[5:40] the hallway to him getting beat by a
[5:42] detective.
[5:42] >> The city attorney, on the other hand,
[5:44] claims these cops are involved in their
[5:46] own internal wrongdoings. Charges
[5:49] against Mr. Thomas arose out of an
[5:51] incident that occurred during the actual
[5:53] investigation of his complaint.
[5:55] >> But this North Las Vegas police officer
[5:58] who asked that we not reveal his
[6:00] identity says he knows what can happen
[6:02] to a cop who breaks the blue code of
[6:04] silence.
[6:05] >> I don't think it's a code of silence to
[6:08] protect each other. I think it's a code
[6:09] of silence to protect the institution.
[6:12] >> In fact, Thomas says someone actually
[6:14] tried to kill him. I do believe officer
[6:17] Thomas when he tells me that somebody
[6:20] tried to run him over in the parking
[6:21] lot. They've been hurt professionally
[6:24] and they're trying to survive and the
[6:27] only way they can do it is to fight back
[6:28] and go public.
[6:29] >> Even the mayor, Mike Montandon, feels
[6:31] these officers should be heard.
[6:33] >> They came to me to to air out their
[6:36] views. If someone's actually threatening
[6:38] someone's life or attempting to run them
[6:40] over, that's a serious issue. serious
[6:43] enough for the mayor to join Thomas and
[6:45] Armstrong when they took their claims to
[6:47] the FBI.
[6:48] >> I think the police department needs to
[6:50] be cleaned up. If it takes federal
[6:51] intervention, that's what it takes. So
[6:53] now all Thomas and Armstrong can do is
[6:56] wait and hope for justice fed style.
[7:00] >> The FBI told Hard Copy that they met
[7:02] with the two cops, but wouldn't say
[7:04] whether there will be an investigation.
[7:06] Now, while cops in Colorado continue
[7:08] their investigation into the Littleton
[7:10] massacre, Steve Langford reports that
[7:12] Hollywood is doing some serious
[7:13] soulsearching, wondering if movies or
[7:16] television might somehow be responsible.
[7:19] Guns and Hollywood, the double barreled,
[7:22] double bill of American culture is
[7:25] suddenly under fire as some wonder, can
[7:28] shooting a movie be as destructive as
[7:30] shooting a gun? Well, maybe it's the
[7:32] movies, maybe it's the books, maybe it's
[7:34] the bullets, maybe it's the real crooks,
[7:36] maybe it's the drugs, maybe.
[7:37] >> At an anti-gun rally on the steps of the
[7:39] Colorado state capital, grief and rage
[7:42] over the Coline massacre have many
[7:45] suggesting that Hollywood's dream
[7:46] machines should now be blamed for
[7:49] creating nightmares, too.
[7:51] >> And we, as parents, have got to do
[7:54] something about that.
[7:56] Our elected leaders have to do
[7:57] something. The entertainment industry
[7:59] has to do something.
[8:01] Tom Mouser's son, Daniel, was shot and
[8:03] killed in the Colorado high school
[8:05] rampage. Mouser's heartbreaking
[8:07] appearance here takes anguished aim at
[8:10] the violence in our culture.
[8:12] >> A Tech 9 semi-automatic
[8:15] 30 bullet weapon like that that killed
[8:17] my son
[8:19] is not used to kill deer. It has no
[8:23] useful purpose.
[8:25] It is time to address this problem.
[8:29] Video games like Doom that the two
[8:31] student killers apparently love to play
[8:34] have everyone from average parents to
[8:36] media experts asking, "Are we what we
[8:39] watch?" If you watch TV, if you watch
[8:41] the film, you watch the video game. It's
[8:43] a big joy to kill somebody, to hurt
[8:46] somebody, to maim them, to dismember
[8:48] them. That's sick. One Coline Jr., a
[8:51] young woman, told the New York Times she
[8:53] played the Doom video game, too. She
[8:55] said she'd get quote royally pissed off
[8:57] at people at school, then go home and
[8:59] play doom for hours to get rid of her
[9:02] stress. Trench coat terror, brutal box
[9:05] office killers like Matrix and
[9:07] basketball diaries have some screaming,
[9:11] stop the media madness.
[9:12] >> I'm concerned about Hollywood, but I'm
[9:14] also concerned about the First
[9:15] Amendment. I know Hollywood uh wouldn't
[9:17] make them if people didn't come. Bitter
[9:20] arguments about the Second Amendment are
[9:22] now being compounded by angry attacks
[9:24] against First Amendment rights, too.
[9:26] >> But I know one thing, if it were up to
[9:29] me, I'd take away the gun.
[9:35] >> Tomorrow on Hard Copy, Marilyn Manson's
[9:37] the headbanger with the wildest
[9:39] reputation in the business.
[9:41] >> Marilyn Manson is a spokesperson for the
[9:45] misfits. But after the Littleton
[9:47] massacre, the Gothic rocker is
[9:49] cancelling concerts right and left.
[9:51] >> Well, you definitely can't blame Marilyn
[9:52] Manson for something such as the Coline
[9:54] shootings. People are like getting to
[9:56] the point where they want to kill him.
[9:58] Like, how messed up is that?
[10:00] >> It's Manson madness tomorrow.
[10:04] Up next,
[10:06] >> the shocking treatment some children
[10:08] receive by so-called child care
[10:10] professionals.
[10:11] >> I want this to stop because more
[10:13] children are going to die. My own child
[10:15] could have died from this.
[10:16] >> Plus, the all American girls who found
[10:18] fame in a far away land and a foreign
[10:21] language.
[10:21] >> A movie career would be fabulous.
[10:23] >> And did a hockey puck send Tom cruising
[10:25] for a bruising?
[10:27] >> The truth squad gets the slapshot story
[10:30] straight. Coming up
[10:34] >> today, we're going to discuss
[10:37] mers.
[10:39] >> Tooth care has never been this exciting
[10:41] until now. New Trident Advantage.
[10:43] Clinically proven to help whiten teeth
[10:44] and reduce unsightly plaque. New Trident
[10:47] Advantage.
[10:49] >> The Bori self-heating mask deep cleans
[10:51] your face with a gentle heat. Only Bori
[10:54] heats up instantly to liquefy oily
[10:56] residue and rinse it away clean in just
[10:58] 60 seconds. Amazing what a little heat
[11:00] can do. Bor. Clean. Honest.
[11:04] >> Welcome to Taco night at the Andersons.
[11:07] >> Hey, it's a steep marshmallow.
[11:12] Taco night is also movie night at the
[11:14] Anderson.
[11:15] >> Bring home the new grande meals and make
[11:16] tonight taco night. Choose any 10 tacos
[11:18] or bean burritos, plus a nachos bell
[11:20] grande plus a Mexican pizza. All for
[11:21] just $9.99 and get a coupon for a free
[11:23] blockbuster movie rental.
[11:25] >> Awesome.
[11:29] >> Wow. Let's make s'mores.
[11:32] >> Until next time.
[11:39] >> Do you know how to drive? How to say,
[11:41] "Hey, that's a foul in Japanese." Do you
[11:44] know where in the heavens to find a
[11:45] human voice?
[11:48] Where in your soul to find character?
[11:54] >> Do you know the shortest distance to a
[11:56] college degree is a straight line called
[11:58] discipline? Do you know how to walk it?
[12:02] Be all you can be.
[12:07] >> We've got Levis's.
[12:09] They've got Levis's. We've got them at a
[12:12] good price.
[12:14] They've got them at a good price.
[12:17] We have a program called Always Dream,
[12:19] where a portion of every purchase you
[12:21] make adds up to a million dollars a week
[12:24] that we give back to local communities.
[12:27] If you're going to buy them anyway, why
[12:29] not buy them at Bourbon, California?
[12:37] >> Attention inventors. Do you have a new
[12:39] idea? Call the inventor's helpline for
[12:40] your free inventor's kit today. 1800

[12:53] installed. Call 1800 GO Brakes.
[12:57] Now the videotapes every parent should
[12:59] see but few will want to watch. They
[13:01] show a controversial grip that some
[13:03] group homes use to control troubled
[13:05] children. As our Ed Miller reports,
[13:07] these chanty choke holds can be more
[13:09] than dangerous. They can be downright
[13:11] deadly.
[13:12] 16-year-old Mark Sorz checked into a
[13:15] group home for troubled teens, but never
[13:17] checked out. He died after two staff
[13:19] counselors restrained him with some sort
[13:22] of headlock hold. A state inquest said
[13:24] it was an accidental death, but Mark's
[13:27] aunt is still demanding some sort of
[13:29] explanation.
[13:30] >> Mark did nothing to deserve to die.
[13:34] There's no justification for his death.
[13:37] >> Hillary Knight says she was almost
[13:39] killed while being restrained in a
[13:40] different group home. The hold, she
[13:43] says, is similar to what wrestlers use.
[13:45] >> And it ended up that he broke my nose
[13:47] and fractured my jaw and I had blood all
[13:50] over my face, blood all over me. I was
[13:51] choking on my blood. It's very easy to
[13:54] die in situations like that when you are
[13:56] being physically restrained by people,
[13:58] especially if they don't know what
[13:59] they're doing. During the past several
[14:01] years, more than 100 children across the
[14:03] country have died at the hands of
[14:05] someone who was trying to restrain them.
[14:07] These kind of potentially deadly
[14:09] restraints are commonly used in
[14:11] psychiatric hospitals, detention
[14:13] centers, group homes, some nursing
[14:15] homes, and some special education
[14:17] classes.
[14:19] What you're about to see is disturbing.
[14:21] Watch as 11-year-old Matthew, who is
[14:23] autistic, is pushed face down to the
[14:26] ground with his hands pinned up against
[14:28] his back. It's very much like using a
[14:30] straight jacket, only worse because
[14:32] you're not pulling on a piece of cloth,
[14:34] you're pulling on the child's arms.
[14:36] >> Matthew was not violent or out of
[14:39] control. Instead, the teacher says he
[14:41] was being restrained for throwing a
[14:43] piece of paper on the floor.
[14:45] >> To me, this is no different than when
[14:47] people used to tie handicapped people to
[14:50] beds up in an attic um and keep them out
[14:53] of sight. Melanie Lion is especially
[14:56] upset because on the videotape you can
[14:58] hear her son begging for a second
[15:00] chance. Yet the teacher continues to
[15:02] hold you down.
[15:03] >> He's screaming because it's painful to
[15:06] have your both of your arms pulled
[15:07] behind your back with your chest down on
[15:09] a carpet and a teacher sitting on top of
[15:12] you. Abby is another autistic child from
[15:15] the same Cape Cod Public School
[15:17] District. She weighs just 64 pounds and
[15:19] has the mind of a three-year-old, but
[15:22] she is slammed to the ground repeatedly.
[15:24] >> They treated her like a criminal, like a
[15:26] drug dealer. It's a way of controlling
[15:28] the child,
[15:30] >> and it's wrong. I wouldn't do that to my
[15:33] child in my home. What makes them think
[15:35] they can do it in a school?
[15:36] >> On the tape, Abby is restrained 14 times
[15:39] in one day. Sometimes for not sitting in
[15:41] her chair, at one point for not blowing
[15:43] her nose. When her mother saw it on
[15:45] tape, she went to the police, accusing
[15:47] the teacher of assault and battery.
[15:50] >> They could have killed my 10-year-old
[15:52] child using these techniques on her over
[15:56] and over again.
[15:57] >> The Cape Cod school system refused to
[15:59] comment on the restraints, but the
[16:01] videotape evidence has turned both
[16:03] mothers into crusaders. They want these
[16:05] wrestling type restraints outlawed.
[16:07] >> They are supposed to be there to protect
[16:10] these children, not to abuse them. I
[16:13] want this to stop because more children
[16:15] are going to die. My own child could
[16:17] have died from this.
[16:18] >> I can't think of any reason that would
[16:20] justify that kind of violent treatment
[16:22] of any child, particularly a handicapped
[16:25] child who cannot speak for himself.
[16:29] >> Because of the deaths, legislation is
[16:31] now in the works to restrict restraint
[16:33] holds.
[16:34] >> Tomorrow on our copy, the stock market's
[16:37] stuffed shirts are being replaced by
[16:39] these unconventional investors.
[16:42] more than doubled my money. With school,
[16:44] sometimes I end up getting on the
[16:45] internet, checking to see what my stocks
[16:46] are doing.
[16:47] >> It's Wall Street versus the information
[16:50] superighway. It's probably the most
[16:52] profound change in investor behavior in
[16:55] the last 10 or 15 years.
[16:56] >> Caught online bucking the system
[16:59] tomorrow.
[17:01] Now, some big-time TV stars you've
[17:03] probably never heard of. That's because
[17:05] these American actresses do their jobs
[17:07] on Italian television. Jerry Penoli has
[17:10] more on the lovely ladies who decided it
[17:12] was time to say ciao Hollywood bonjouro
[17:15] Italy.
[17:21] >> What's a nice all American girl like
[17:24] Justine Mater doing in the middle of an
[17:26] Italian television show
[17:28] >> in Honda on the air.
[17:31] >> She's on the air and on Cloud9 as a
[17:34] major television star in Italy.
[17:36] >> Somehow I end up working in television
[17:38] one day. I always had kind of like that
[17:39] dream, but you know, I wasn't exactly
[17:42] sure how I was going to make it there.
[17:44] >> Justine with her Marilyn Monroe makeup
[17:46] and hairdo is just one of many American
[17:48] women who are being embraced as
[17:50] celebrities in Italy. There's also Randy
[17:52] Ingramman, who's become a TV star by
[17:54] learning just enough Italian to get by.
[18:02] And in the case of California girl Wendy
[18:04] Windham, her language barrier actually
[18:06] became one of her assets. And on the
[18:08] comedy show she does, the others
[18:10] playfully make fun of her.
[18:16] >> Wendy
[18:17] >> Italians seem to like the seemingly
[18:19] perfect American girl who has some
[18:21] flaws.
[18:21] >> I did a lot of dances in the first the
[18:24] second year that I was on the show that
[18:26] where my skirt would like, you know, fly
[18:28] open. I transfire
[18:30] >> talent does win out for American Heather
[18:32] Paresi who has danced her way to stardom
[18:34] on Italian television for the last 20
[18:36] years and all of these Americans like
[18:39] Justine are household names in Italy.
[18:42] >> They're always fascinated a little bit
[18:43] by the American culture by by the accent
[18:46] by the way you talk Italian. They they
[18:48] find it very uh
[18:50] seems fast. You go
[18:52] >> I'm on the bed completely new with a
[18:53] bunch of pillows.
[18:55] Supermodel Carol Al has paved the way
[18:57] for this new breed of American beauties
[18:59] becoming stars overseas, parlayed an
[19:02] American modeling career and has been a
[19:04] huge star in Italian movies and TV shows
[19:06] for years now.
[19:07] >> A lot of the girls who are models are
[19:10] getting offered parts as actresses and
[19:12] that that the movie industry doesn't
[19:15] care whether they were models first.
[19:16] >> So, how did Justine do it without any
[19:18] show biz experience? She was discovered
[19:21] quite by accident in an Italian disco
[19:23] one night by a photographer who was
[19:25] intrigued with her Marilynesque
[19:26] qualities. But Justine takes all of her
[19:29] success in stride.
[19:30] >> Being uh dressed up as Marilyn and
[19:33] having the the my hair like this and
[19:35] everything, I you can't really take
[19:37] yourself very seriously.
[19:39] >> Once a California college student, now a
[19:41] major European TV star. Talk about a
[19:44] Roman holiday paying off.
[19:47] Laevita. All right. And now from the
[19:49] airwaves of Italy to the mansions of
[19:51] Malibu, California, when we heard
[19:53] Richard Gear was giving up his seaside
[19:54] home for the sake of the Daly Lama, we
[19:57] hit the beach with the truth squad.
[20:02] >> True or false? Is Richard Gear selling
[20:04] his house to raise funds for the Tibetan
[20:06] Preservation Fund? Probably. I don't see
[20:08] why not. Cuz he could, you know, write
[20:09] it up for taxes or something.
[20:11] >> Cynic. Anyway, Gear has three passions
[20:13] in life. Acting, beautiful women, and
[20:16] Buddhist causes. But when we called his
[20:18] people, they told us this story is
[20:20] false. Gear's $6 million beachfront home
[20:23] is up for sale, but Gear will keep the
[20:25] profits. True or false? Did Tom Cruz
[20:28] risk his movie star looks by catching a
[20:30] hockey puck in midair at a game?
[20:33] >> I don't see him just grabbing a ball
[20:34] like that. I don't know.
[20:37] >> Hey, Tom seems kind of athletic, but
[20:39] when we called his people, they said,
[20:40] "Sorry, this one's false." Tom did get a
[20:43] puck at a game, but it landed right in
[20:45] front of him. By the way, did the lady
[20:46] we spoke to look familiar to any of you?
[20:48] She tells us she's a huge pop star in
[20:51] South America. Okay, here's her 5second
[20:54] Truth Squad audition.
[21:02] >> True or false? Is Julia Roberts
[21:04] boyfriend Benjamin Brat going to star in
[21:06] a movie with Madonna?
[21:07] >> He's not very high profile compared to
[21:10] her, but in terms of looks, they look
[21:12] really good together.
[21:13] >> They would make a hot couple. Hope Julia
[21:15] is not the jealous type because this
[21:16] one's true. The movie is called The Next
[21:19] Best Thing.
[21:20] >> And speaking of movies, was Star Wars
[21:22] actor Mark Hamill originally cast as a
[21:24] regular on a popular small screen
[21:26] series? Find out tomorrow in a special
[21:28] intergalactic edition of The Truth
[21:30] Squad.

[21:44] Ouch.
[21:45] >> You stop brushing with Sensidine every

[22:25] can do.
[22:27] >> Before you dress, Caress.
[22:30] >> Not all drain cleaners are the same.
[22:32] Liquid Plumber can only clean part of
[22:33] your drain. Draano Fulmer fills the
[22:36] entire pipe and scrubs it clean so
[22:38] drains stay clear longer.
[22:41] Dano Fulmer keeps drains clear longer
[22:43] than liquid plumber.
[22:45] >> I had a nice time tonight.
[22:46] >> Yeah, me too.
