[0:00] He's must make dramatic gestures if
[0:02] they're to win MFN before the June 3rd
[0:05] deadline. Deborah Wang, ABC News,
[0:08] Beijing.
[0:10] >> 500 people, twice as many as expected,
[0:13] attended a conference in Miami today
[0:15] organized by exiled Haitian president
[0:17] Jean-Bertrand Aristide.
[0:20] The purpose of the conference to discuss

[1:15] The Clinton administration set today as
[1:18] the new deadline for Haiti's military
[1:20] leaders to step down. The US and other
[1:23] allies will meet this week to consider
[1:25] asking the United Nations to tighten
[1:27] sanctions on Haiti, but the
[1:29] administration has avoided any threats
[1:31] of force.
[1:32] >> We have never talked about military
[1:33] intervention. We've talked about
[1:35] pressure from the international
[1:37] community to bring about a negotiated
[1:39] settlement, yeah, and that's all the
