[0:03] Reports Mornings on Channel 2 News

[0:10] on World News Tonight this

[0:13] Sunday. Remembering a

[0:16] [Music]

[0:18] disaster, a day of mourning for the

[0:21] victims of Austria's avalanches.

[0:24] raising the stakes in the Middle East.

[0:26] Israeli forces retaliate after a deadly

[0:29] bomb attack in

[0:31] Lebanon. And will politicians be muscled

[0:34] out of politics? More wrestlers are

[0:37] saying, "If Jesse can do it, so can I."

[0:46] From

[0:47] ABC, this is World News Tonight, Sunday.

[0:52] Good evening. I'm Carol Simpson. Black

[0:54] flags contrasted with the White

[0:57] Mountains in Austria today. It was an

[0:59] official day of mourning for the 38

[1:01] people killed by two avalanches in the

[1:04] Austrian Alps this past week. The last

[1:06] victim was dug from the snow only

[1:09] yesterday. The rescuers joined with the

[1:12] rescued today to remember those who

[1:14] died. ABC's Jim Wooten was there.

[1:21] In the villages and valleys across these

[1:23] mighty Alps, the steeple bells of

[1:25] Austria echoed each other today, ringing

[1:28] their reququum for those who

[1:32] [Music]

[1:37] died. In this old church in Insbrook

[1:40] here at the foot of the mountains, a

[1:42] thousand solemn mourers remembered them

[1:44] as

[1:45] [Music]

[1:50] well. Relatives of the victims, friends

[1:53] and survivors, and government officials

[1:55] now being asked if somehow these lives

[1:58] might not have been lost, whether

[2:00] somehow these 38 coffins might not have

[2:03] been needed at all. There were other

[2:05] questions this afternoon traditional in

[2:08] tragedy like this. Where for example,

[2:11] where is God? Who is God? And why has he

[2:16] forsaken us? Mine God. Mine God.
