[0:00] not our role um at the moment to be
[0:03] putting any kind of pressure on the
[0:06] Allied High Command uh which is trying
[0:09] to won a war to run a war that began 27
[0:12] hours ago. But Bob Zach, are you there
[0:14] at the Pentagon at the moment?
[0:15] >> Yes, I am here.
[0:16] >> Um
[0:17] we were told before this campaign began
[0:19] that we were going to get a couple
[0:20] briefings a day. I I don't want to harp
[0:22] on the fact that we didn't get the
[0:24] second briefing today, but I wonder
[0:25] whether or not your sources at the
[0:27] Pentagon think that they are not in some
[0:29] respect contributing to the frustration
[0:30] and the speculation by not having a
[0:32] second briefing. And can you tell us why
[0:34] they didn't?
[0:35] >> Peter, uh I I I the best explanation
[0:39] that they offered was simply that there
[0:41] hadn't been enough to merit the uh
[0:44] second briefing and that those who would
[0:46] normally brief were occupied with other
[0:48] other matters. uh they tried to do as
[0:51] best they could by updating uh the news
[0:55] on on a background basis. Uh we went
[0:57] over that. Um I I think that tomorrow's
[1:01] schedule only calls for a single
[1:03] briefing at this end, although there
[1:05] will be one uh uh in Riad as well by the
[1:08] uh senior military command. So we should
[1:11] have uh one about 7:00 a.m. Eastern time
[1:13] in Riad and another about 3:30 p.m. uh
[1:17] here at the Pentagon. Uh the frustration
[1:20] is very great indeed because even as
[1:22] this evening has progressed. Uh there
[1:24] are background briefings conducted by
[1:27] Pentagon officials off camera and on a
[1:30] background basis at the same time other
[1:32] sources are giving other kinds of
[1:34] information.
