[13:08] people the sad thing is is that many

[13:12] times prayers become

[13:15] selfish because prayers come from a

[13:18] place of us and not a place of flowing

[13:21] from the will of God in us and so we

[13:24] have to be careful in our prayer life

[13:27] and sometimes if we are praying selfish

[13:33] prayers it may be silent in

[13:38] return because he knows your

[13:41] heart and he knows his will for your

[13:45] life and so tonight there's some things

[13:48] in verses 14 and 15 that we're going to

[13:51] consider tonight so we're going to begin

[13:53] in verse

[13:54] 14 and this is the

[13:57] confidence that we have

[14:00] in him now I want you to always remember

[14:02] when it comes to your prayer

[14:04] life you shouldn't pray confident

[14:06] prayers in

[14:08] yourself your prayers ought to be

[14:10] confident in him and who he is I

[14:14] remember being in Bible College the

[14:16] first Bible College that I attended I

[14:18] remember being there and there was a man

[14:21] who came to speak I was going to say

[14:24] preached but he didn't he came to

[14:27] speak and made this statement and the

[14:31] you know sometimes people make

[14:32] statements the hair on the back of your

[14:34] neck stands

[14:36] up the man said if you want your prayers

[14:41] answered let me pray them for

[14:46] you did you you get that feeling

[14:53] thought maybe he said it wrong I mean I

[14:54] did have a 7:30 class that morning so

[14:57] you know I thought actually no that was

[14:59] was a Tuesday uh I had 7:15 Greek class

[15:02] I don't know why our Bible college did

[15:04] that to us but 7:15 in the morning

[15:06] having Greek class that that's

[15:07] definitely not something God would want

[15:09] us to

[15:10] do had a hard enough time with English

[15:12] at 7:30 in the morning let alone Greek

[15:16] 7:15 but I remember him

[15:18] saying if you want your prayers answered

[15:22] have you pray and the sad part was right

[15:25] after Chapel

[15:27] ended there was a flock of students that

[15:29] flock to

[15:31] him say hey can you pray for this for me

[15:35] hey can you pray for this for

[15:37] me can you pray for this for

[15:40] me the sad reality is they thought he

[15:43] had a special connection to

[15:47] God now our confidence in our prayer

[15:50] life is found in him so number one

[15:55] tonight if you're going to pray in the

[15:56] will of God confidence to ask

[15:59] according to his will you cannot have

[16:04] confidence in your prayer life if you're

[16:07] not praying in his

[16:09] will your asking has to come according

[16:12] to his will even Jesus Christ himself

[16:15] showed us this when he was in The Garden

[16:18] of Gethsemane and he prayed father not

[16:21] my will but thine be

[16:25] done in that moment in the darkest

[16:28] moment before the cross of Calvary he

[16:30] was praying for the father's will over

[16:34] his

[16:35] will and in our lives we need to have

[16:37] the confidence to pray we're praying to

[16:40] God God hears prayers God answers

[16:43] prayers one writer said prayer moves the

[16:45] hand of God confidence to ask according

[16:48] to his will in verse 14 this is the

[16:51] confidence that we have in him that if

[16:53] we ask anything according to his will he

[16:56] heareth us and that's

[16:59] true if you're asking according to his

[17:06] will well how will you know what his

[17:09] will is for you to pray well since you

[17:11] brought it up walk in the will of God

[17:16] today and ask according to his will if

[17:21] you're not walking in the will of God

[17:23] today you won't know how to pray in the

[17:24] will of

[17:27] God we'll rewind that if you're not

[17:29] walking in the will of God

[17:31] today then you won't know how to pray in

[17:35] the will of

[17:36] God if I am praying to God and expecting

[17:40] God to answer my prayer but I'm not

[17:43] living in the will of

[17:46] God my prayers are not coming from a

[17:50] holy spirit

[17:51] Direction it's coming from a me

[17:55] direction and God will not

[17:59] have

[18:00] to desire

[18:04] to answer

[18:06] those sometimes he's does because he's

[18:10] merciful but many

[18:13] times God does

[18:15] not because we ask one writer the word

[18:18] that says a

[18:21] Miss if you want to pray in the will of

[18:24] God you want to have confidence that we

[18:26] have in God that when we pray we ask

[18:29] anything according to his will he

[18:31] heareth us but if you're not walking in

[18:34] the will of God you're not going to pray

[18:35] in the will of

[18:39] God his will for you is to

[18:46] pray God's will for you and me is to

[18:53] pray some people have struggled with

[18:56] this they say preacher if if God already

[18:58] know knows what's on my heart why do I

[19:00] have to say it and pray

[19:02] it because he said

[19:06] so but if he already knows why do I have

[19:08] to do because he said

[19:10] so it's kind of like us with our little

[19:14] kids I don't want to well do it anyway

[19:23] so and and sometimes there's that

[19:25] struggle that power struggle that

[19:26] happens and listen God's will for us is

[19:28] to to

[19:29] pray in his

[19:33] will Oswell Chambers made this statement

[19:39] pray no one has time to pray we have to

[19:45] take excuse me we have to take time from

[19:49] other things to understand how necessary

[19:53] prayer

[20:05] how necessary is prayer in your

[20:08] life what have you taken time from in

[20:12] order to go to God In Prayer have you

[20:19] entertainment have you taken time from

[20:21] other things to say no way wait wait

[20:23] praying to the Lord is more important

[20:31] we've said it before if you don't make

[20:33] time to pray you will run out of

[20:38] time the amazing thing about pray we

[20:40] have confidence to ask according to his

[20:42] will when you can go to God and you can

[20:44] pray

[20:45] Lord I desire

[20:48] this if it Be Your

[20:52] Will that's a hard thing

[20:55] sometimes it's a hard thing to say God I

[20:57] want your will

[20:59] because sometimes we pray God heal this

[21:02] person from this

[21:05] disease but we also need to pray If It

[21:08] Be Your

[21:11] Will

[21:13] why because I want God's will to be done

[21:17] not my own

[21:20] desires I want God's will to be done not

[21:23] my own

[21:25] desires but if you don't have time to

[21:28] pray it's probably because you haven't

[21:30] made it a

[21:33] priority now prayer does not equip us

[21:38] for some Greater

[21:40] Works prayer is the greater

[21:44] work prayer does not equip us for some

[21:47] Greater Works prayer is the greater

[21:50] work if you're going to do what God

[21:53] wants you to do you got to

[21:55] pray you got to pray it's got to be part

[21:59] of your life prayer is the second

[22:02] conduit through which the Holy

[22:06] Spirit power is transmitted into our

[22:09] lives prayer is the second conduit

[22:12] through which the holy spirit's power is

[22:14] transmitted into our lives it's from the

[22:16] word of God In Prayer that it pours into

[22:19] us and God can do a work through us we

[22:23] are just the vessel but the power of the

[22:26] word of God and the power of Prayer PR

[22:28] flowing through us and Le living in the

[22:31] will of God could accomplish great

[22:33] things for

[22:37] God so if I'm going to have confidence

[22:39] to ask according to his

[22:41] will there's got to be some number two

[22:44] tonight

[22:46] correction to my

[22:48] requesting confidence to ask according

[22:51] to his will number two tonight

[22:53] correction to my requesting look at

[22:56] verse 14 this a confence so we have in

[22:59] him that if we ask anything according to

[23:00] his will he heareth us

[23:03] and and so it the thought

[23:07] continues and if we know that he hear us

[23:13] whatsoever we ask we know that we have

[23:18] the petitions that we desired of him

[23:22] well how does that play out how does it

[23:25] correct if I'm living in his

[23:29] will my petitions are desired of

[23:33] him if I'm out of his will I ask a

[23:38] Miss if I am in his will my petitions

[23:42] are desired of him notice he said in

[23:44] verse 15 we know we know that we have

[23:48] the petitions that we desired of him now

[23:51] what has happened if I'm in the will of

[23:52] God the things that I'm Desiring are

[23:54] coming from him and they're of him

[23:57] therefore I'm praying for for them from

[24:01] him if I'm living in the will of God my

[24:04] petitions are understanding God is

[24:06] putting upon my heart the holy spirit is

[24:09] leading me to pray in such a way that my

[24:12] petitions are desired of

[24:16] him because I'm desirous of

[24:20] him because I'm walking in his will but

[24:24] if I'm not walking in his will I won't

[24:26] pray in his will

[24:29] so what's God's will for your

[24:32] life and so throughout scripture he

[24:35] talks about different ways of explaining

[24:37] the will of God and God's plan for our

[24:40] lives and we don't have time to chase

[24:42] all of those passages

[24:44] tonight but in his will my petitions are

[24:48] desired of him so I got to correct my

[24:51] requesting my requests need to come from

[24:55] God through me back to him

[25:00] should think about it it's God's will

[25:02] through me back to him so what does that

[25:05] mean well he's teaching

[25:07] me he's teaching me how to pray he's

[25:10] teaching me why to pray he's teaching me

[25:12] the style of praying he's teaching me

[25:15] all of those

[25:17] things have you ever tried to pray out

[25:20] of the will of

[25:21] God it's very

[25:24] difficult it's very

[25:27] difficult sometimes you feel like it's

[25:29] just bouncing off the ceiling and coming

[25:30] back

[25:31] down it's empty why there's no

[25:37] power one writer described it this way

[25:40] prayer is like you took an electrical

[25:43] cable electrical wire and you attached

[25:46] it to the lightning bolt of God's

[25:49] power you took the electrical wire of

[25:51] your prayer and attached it to the

[25:53] lightning bolt of God's power now

[25:56] electricians in the room know this to be

[25:58] be true it doesn't complete the circuit

[26:00] unless it's grounded to

[26:03] something so what would that mean well

[26:05] if I'm grounded in the

[26:08] Lord then my prayer life has

[26:12] power but if I'm not grounded in the

[26:14] Lord my prayer life has the potential

[26:19] for

[26:20] power the potential for

[26:24] power there's a lot of power in God he's

[26:27] Almighty he's all powerful there's a lot

[26:30] of power in God and we get the

[26:31] opportunity to pray to God and we had

[26:34] the opportunity for almighty God who who

[26:36] spoke this world into existence who

[26:38] formed Man Out of the Dust of the ground

[26:41] who hung all the stars in place who put

[26:43] the Sun the direct distance it needed to

[26:46] be from the planet Earth and he did it

[26:49] all in such a way and he designed

[26:51] Mankind and he formed everything every

[26:53] molecule the way that he did and he put

[26:56] it all together in such an creative

[26:58] design that's the god that you and I get

[27:01] to pray

[27:05] to but if I'm not praying in the will of

[27:10] God my

[27:12] petitions have the potential for

[27:16] power but if I'm grounded in

[27:20] him then I can have the power of prayer

[27:24] flow through me

[27:29] but I got to correct my

[27:32] requesting my petitions are God we've

[27:35] given you the formula for prayer in

[27:37] previous messages we'll give it again

[28:32] men's prayer breakfast this past

[28:40] minutes you ever prayed for five

[28:46] minutes have

[28:47] you you haven't prayed for 10 minutes

[28:53] straight we told the men that one of the

[28:55] excuses men use for their lack of of a

[28:58] prayer life is they don't have enough

[29:00] words because we all know that some men

[29:03] don't have a whole lot of

[29:05] words their wives will attest they make

[29:08] Grunts and other noises now you'll

[29:09] notice I said some men not all men's

[29:13] there are some that they just keep going

[29:15] and going and going and going like the

[29:24] preaching I didn't get any amen so we're

[29:31] that excuse that people have sometimes

[29:35] when we go to

[29:36] pray we got to the four minute Mark and

[29:39] we didn't have anything else to

[29:43] pray I encouraged our men to make a

[29:45] prayer

[29:48] list to make a prayer

[29:50] list what's on your prayer list some of

[29:52] you I hope you have

[29:54] one I hope you pray it daily

[30:00] we ought to

[30:01] pray we use the text out of Luke men

[30:03] ought to pray always to pray and not to

[30:07] faint we ought to pray always and not

[30:10] faint not cowered away from it stay

[30:12] faithful to pray first Lord says to pray

[30:17] ceasing that means I'm always in an

[30:19] attitude and a relationship and I'm in

[30:21] the will of God that I could pray at any

[30:23] moment at any time

[30:29] that somebody called you on the

[30:31] phone said hey I need you to pray for me

[30:37] now would you have the ability to have

[30:41] direct access to God in that moment or

[30:43] would there be something between you and

[30:45] God that would hinder your prayer

[30:48] life unconfessed sin hinders your prayer

[30:53] life a wrong relationship with your

[30:55] spouse hinders your prayer life

[31:00] so there's a challenge number three

[31:02] tonight there's a challenge to walk in

[31:04] his will

[31:08] daily challenge to walk in God's will

[31:10] daily so we've got confidence to ask

[31:12] according to his will we've got a

[31:14] correction to my requesting we got a

[31:16] challenge to walk in his will

[31:20] daily can you get out of God's will in a

[31:25] day can you you you got to correct your

[31:29] course now hang

[31:32] on did my

[31:34] reaction to circumstances

[31:38] yesterday help or hinder my prayer

[31:44] life ask yourself that question did my

[31:48] reactions to circumstances yesterday

[31:52] help or hinder my prayer life

[31:59] circumstances

[32:01] happen how you respond to them can help

[32:06] or hinder your prayer

[32:11] life so we're on Wednesday we've had

[32:13] Monday and

[32:14] Tuesday since

[32:16] Sunday your reactions so far this week

[32:20] have they helped or hindered your prayer

[32:24] life if your reactions LED you to sin

[32:28] and you have not confessed it it's

[32:31] hindering your prayer

[32:32] life if anger has taken root in your

[32:36] heart and you've not got it right and

[32:39] you disobeyed scripture when it said let

[32:43] not the sun go down upon your wrath and

[32:46] you went to bed angry and you woke up

[32:49] bitter did it help or did it hinder your

[32:52] prayer

[32:53] life well we know it didn't help it

[32:58] bitterness affects your prayer

[33:01] life your your dealings with your spouse

[33:05] this week their reaction to them did it

[33:07] help or hinder your prayer

[33:10] life how about

[33:13] it I believe it's God's will for us all

[33:16] to walk in the spirit and you shall not

[33:18] fulfill the lust thereof we're to walk

[33:21] in the spirit of God every single day

[33:23] let God's will will for us is to walk in

[33:26] his spirit

[33:28] but when we

[33:30] don't the

[33:32] reactions can hinder or

[33:35] help and if we're not walking in the

[33:38] spirit they're

[33:39] hindering they're hindering you ever

[33:41] feel like you have an ineffective prayer

[33:46] life that God's not responding you read

[33:49] verses like verse 14 if we ask we have

[33:52] confidence that we have in him that if

[33:54] we ask anything according to his will he

[33:56] Hearth us and you read that kind of

[33:58] verse you get kind of frustrated because

[34:00] I prayed and prayed and prayed and God

[34:01] still hasn't given it to me what are you

[34:04] praying according to his will or are

[34:06] there things that are hindering your

[34:09] prayer

[34:10] life your reaction to circumstances

[34:14] today did it hinder or help your prayer

[34:19] life because if we believe that prayer

[34:22] does not just does not equip us for some

[34:25] Greater Works but it is the Greater

[34:27] Works if we believe that prayer is the

[34:30] second conduit through which the holy

[34:31] spirit's power is transmitted into our

[34:34] lives and we believe in the power of

[34:54] have they helped you to pray more or

[35:01] life unconfessed sin is a

[35:06] hindrance wrong relationship with your

[35:08] spouse is a

[35:11] hindrance not being submissive to the

[35:15] authority in your life young people is a

[35:18] hindrance you can't be right with God

[35:22] and wrong with your Authority doesn't

[35:25] work

[35:28] it hinders your prayer

[35:32] life you're trying to pray and ask God

[35:34] to do something in your life young

[35:36] person but yet you're angry at your

[35:37] parents guess what tindering your prayer

[35:40] life need to get it

[35:42] right they'll hinder

[35:45] it so we must pray in the will of God if

[35:49] Jesus did it we ought to pray like

[35:54] Jesus so there's a challenge if I want

[35:57] to pray like Jesus I got to be like

[35:59] Jesus and I got to walk in the will of

[36:02] God

[36:03] today I got to walk in the will of God

[36:10] today so let me ask you is there

[36:13] anything hindering your prayer life

[36:16] tonight is there anything that's

[36:19] hindering

[36:20] it examine your

[36:23] heart

[36:25] secondly are there some helps in your

[36:28] prayer

[36:30] life are there some things that you

[36:32] intentionally do to help you in your

[36:36] prayer

[36:38] life there ought to

[36:40] be there ought to be some things that

[36:43] you intentionally do to help and one of

[36:46] those is making sure your account is

[36:49] clear there's no sin between you and God

[36:53] that your heart is right and your spirit

[36:55] is

[36:56] right I've used the illustration

[36:58] multiple times in the eight years I've

[37:00] been here as pastor but I like it so

[37:02] much I'm going to use it again if God's

[37:04] trying to speak to you but you got

[37:07] unconfessed sin in your life this is

[37:10] many times how it

[37:17] sounds and I wonder sometimes if there's

[37:21] unconfessed sin in our life how our

[37:23] prayers sound to him

[37:27] how does it

[37:31] sound you grow weary as a parent when

[37:34] your kids only talk to you when they

[37:37] want something from

[37:39] you you get weary of that

[37:43] parents wonder how God

[37:46] feels when his kids only talk to him

[37:48] when they want something from

[37:52] them we ought to desire God's

[37:56] will if we do desire it we can have

[38:00] confidence in

[38:03] him because then we know I'm not praying

[38:05] for me I am praying through the will of

[38:09] God my heart's desire now here's the

[38:12] amazing thing the amazing thing about

[38:14] our God if we're desire him he cares

[38:18] about

[38:19] us and so he will lead us to pray in

[38:23] such a way that the blessings and the

[38:25] benefits come to us

[38:27] but it's not because of how good we are

[38:30] it's all about how good he

[38:32] is and he overwhelms

[38:36] us every good gift and every perfect

[38:38] gift Cometh From

[38:41] Above it's all from him all the

[38:44] blessings but if all the blessings are

[38:46] from him that means all the praise

[38:48] belongs to

[38:51] him we ought not ever be in a place if

[38:53] you want your prayers answered let me

[38:55] pray for you we ought never be in that

[38:59] place but we ought to be willing to say

[39:01] I'll go to God on your

[39:04] behalf later on in this text in fact

[39:06] we'll go ahead and read it verse 16 If

[39:09] any man see his brother sin a sin which

[39:10] is not unto death he shall ask he shall

[39:13] give him life for them that they sin not

[39:15] unto death there is a sin unto death I

[39:17] do not say that he shall pray for it all

[40:40] them sometimes God uses a 2x4 and smacks

[40:45] them upside the head to get their

[40:48] attention there's a man in the Bible

[40:51] ASA or no yeah and he is King

[41:02] away and he's against

[41:04] God actually it would be Manasseh

[41:07] manasse runs away from God and God

[41:09] brings him into

[41:10] captivity and when he's in captivity

[41:13] when he's taken away from his homeand

[41:14] and brought into captivity he gets

[41:17] right he cries unto the

[41:20] Lord he has a moment where his heart

[41:24] changes in other words God sent a

[41:27] Affliction to get his

[41:30] attention let the still small voice of

[41:33] God keep your attention not that God has

[41:41] attention well how will I know stay

[41:44] close to the word stay close in prayer

[41:48] and pray in the will of
