[22:40] honor the word of God as we read from

[22:42] Acts chapter 8 going to begin reading in

[22:44] verse number 26 and read down through

[22:47] verse number 40 of Acts chapter number

[22:52] 8 the angel of the Lord spake unto

[22:54] Philip saying arise and go toward the

[22:57] South unto the way that goeth down from

[22:59] Jerusalem unto Gaza which is Desert he

[23:02] arose and went and behold a man of

[23:04] Ethiopia and unic of great Authority

[23:08] Under Candice Queen of the Ethiopians

[23:10] who had the charge of all her treasure

[23:12] had come to Jerusalem for to worship was

[23:16] returning and sitting in his Chariot

[23:17] read Isaias the prophet then the spirit

[26:01] Phillip is serving the lord and that's a

[26:05] great thing to do serve the Lord

[26:08] Philip's not an apostle Philip was one

[26:11] of the

[26:12] deacons he's he's also known as Philip

[26:14] the Evangelist because he traveled

[26:16] around and

[26:17] preached so Philip is preaching and he's

[26:20] being used by God and he's gone to

[26:23] different areas and he's enjoying a

[26:25] great time in Samaria people are getting

[26:27] sick sa D people's lives are getting

[26:31] changed and when everything's going

[26:34] wonderful God told him get up and go to

[26:36] a

[26:38] desert

[26:40] what why that's not recorded in

[26:43] Scripture that Philip ever asked that

[26:45] question Phillip gets up the angel of

[26:48] the Lord spake unto Phillip saying arise

[26:52] and go toward the South unto the way

[26:54] that goeth down from Jerusalem un Gaza

[26:56] which is Desert here's the region here's

[26:59] what's going

[27:01] on arise and go so we could say it this

[27:06] morning the spirit

[27:09] directed and Phillip

[27:12] obeyed the spirit of the Lord told him

[27:14] go to this

[27:17] place now I want you to notice verse

[27:23] South and the way that go down to

[27:24] Jerusalem on Gaza which is Desert and he

[27:27] arose and went and behold a man of

[27:31] Ethiopia do you think that was a

[27:35] coincidence or do you think God knew

[27:39] that the unic was going to be in that

[27:41] desert at that time reading that

[27:47] passage so the spirit directed and

[27:50] Philip obeyed he he directed him not to

[27:54] a place but to a

[27:57] person he directed him to a place that

[28:00] had a

[28:01] person God directs him to go to the

[28:03] desert knowing that the person's in the

[28:04] desert it's kind of like when God calls

[28:06] people to the mission field God didn't

[28:08] call them to the country God called them

[28:10] to the people of the

[28:11] country that's what they're there for

[28:13] they're in the ministry of people and

[28:15] that's what we're in we're in the

[28:16] ministry of people and so God directs

[28:19] them and the spirit directs him he goes

[28:21] to a place that has a person and as he

[28:24] gets there he finds the unic a a man of

[28:26] great Authority and he's come from

[28:29] Jerusalem so he's a seeking man he's a

[28:32] man who's been seeking he went to

[28:33] Jerusalem for to worship and he saw the

[28:35] religious practices of the day which if

[28:38] you've studied your Bible wasn't very

[28:39] good at this

[28:41] time it wasn't Christ

[28:45] centered and now he's returning verse 28

[28:48] and sitting in his Chariot he read

[28:50] Isaiah the prophet so the seeking man

[28:52] now I don't know how but he had a

[28:55] portion of scripture

[28:58] had Isaiah the book of

[29:00] Isaiah particularly chapter

[29:02] 53 he's got Isaiah with

[29:06] him I don't know how but he picked it up

[29:10] now some of us understand well I got a

[29:11] Bible preacher well that wasn't the case

[29:13] then but he's got a portion of

[29:16] scripture he's got the book of Isaiah

[29:18] and he's reading it by the way a portion

[29:20] of scripture can change the life for

[29:23] eternity a portion of scripture can

[29:26] change a life for

[29:29] eternity so the spirit directed Philip

[29:31] he's at the place with the person and

[29:33] God knew that he was seeking that the

[29:35] Ethiopian unic was seeking and that he

[29:37] had a portion of scripture now we find

[29:38] ourselves in verse 29 then the spirit

[29:41] said unto Phillip go near and join

[29:44] thyself to this

[29:47] Chariot and Phillip what's the next

[29:50] word he ran now here here's the

[29:54] interesting thing the spirit directed

[29:56] but also number two this morning this

[29:58] Spirit knew the

[29:59] timing the spirit of God knew the

[30:03] timing and when he told Philip to go

[30:05] join th to The Chariot evidently Phillip

[30:09] understood that meant

[30:12] now and with some

[30:14] haste and he took off and the Bible says

[30:17] he ran he didn't just walk over to the

[30:20] Chariot so more than likely it does

[30:22] appear through the reading of the word

[30:24] that the chariot's moving

[30:28] and Philip

[30:30] ran he takes off and he goes with

[30:33] haste and he gets to The Chariot and he

[30:37] hears him reading out

[30:43] loud look what it

[30:45] says and Philip ran thither to him and

[30:49] heard him read the prophet

[30:54] Isaiah he's not just silently reading it

[30:57] to him himself he's out loud reading

[31:01] it what a coincidence

[31:05] right now God knew exactly when he'd be

[31:07] reading it out loud God we can put it it

[31:10] God knew the

[31:11] verse that Philip needed to arrive on

[31:14] the

[31:15] scene God's timing is so amazing here

[31:19] when the spirit says go you need to go

[31:21] and sometimes haste is needed and spir

[31:23] Philip was spirit-led he'd been led by

[31:26] the spirit from Samaria to the desert

[31:28] he'd been led by the spirit to the man

[31:30] and he's right there at the moment when

[31:33] he's reading Isaiah 53: 7 and

[31:38] 8 right on time Phillip runs up and he

[31:43] says understandest Thou what thou

[31:46] readest and the man's response who's

[31:50] under Authority who is traveled from

[31:52] Ethiopia to Jerusalem to worship who

[31:55] could have said I don't need your help

[31:58] and who are you

[32:00] anyway says how can I except some man

[32:04] show

[32:04] me get up here that's pieron paraphrase

[32:08] but get up here get in the Chariot and

[32:10] he gets there and he begins to

[32:12] read so the spirit directs him there and

[32:15] they read Isaiah 537 and 8 now here's

[32:18] the amazing

[32:20] thing the Ethiopian

[32:22] unic ask a

[32:25] question but in studying the passage I

[32:28] could say it this way number three this

[32:29] morning the spirit influenced the

[32:34] question the holy spirit of God

[32:37] influenced the question that said to the

[32:38] Ethiopian unic said uh who's this man

[32:41] talking about is he talking about

[32:42] himself or someone

[32:44] else and that's all the doorway the

[32:47] Philip the Evangelist

[32:49] needed he said let me tell you it's in

[32:53] there I'm sure it

[32:55] is but he opens up right there and

[32:59] begins to preach to him

[33:02] Jesus he opens up the word of God so the

[33:04] Philip answered and he preached

[33:08] Jesus after he's preached Jesus for some

[33:10] time they arrive at a body of

[33:15] water and he said here's water so

[33:17] evidently in the sermon Philip explained

[33:21] to him that he needed to believe in

[33:24] Jesus and that in believing in Jesus he

[33:27] needed to make that profession public by

[33:30] being baptized which is what they were

[33:32] teaching at that time after you got

[33:34] saved you needed to publicly profess

[33:36] that through

[33:37] baptism which we still practice

[33:41] today so he got saved and Philip says he

[33:45] says to Philip what does hinder me

[33:47] there's only one thing that can hinder a

[33:49] person from being

[33:51] baptized if they're saved or

[33:54] not you don't get baptized to be saved

[33:56] you're saved before you get

[33:59] baptized and he asked the question and

[34:02] Philip's response says found in

[34:04] scripture right here he says Philip said

[34:05] if thou believest with all thine heart

[34:12] God and Phillips commands The Chariot to

[34:39] belief then Phillip verse 40 is gone

[34:44] 3940 came up by the water the spirit of

[34:46] the lord caught away

[34:49] Phillip Spirit took Phillip

[34:52] G and the Ethiopian Unix rejoicing we

[34:56] put it this way number four the spirit

[34:58] had more work for Phillip to

[35:01] do the spirit had more work for Phillip

[35:04] to do and he went off to aotus and he's

[35:06] found preaching into the cities till he

[35:08] came to Cesar so everywhere Philip's on

[35:10] his way he's preaching preaching

[35:12] preaching and he's preaching

[35:14] Jesus now chapter eight chapter nine and

[35:16] chapter 10 of Acts are conversions of

[35:20] Salvation we have the Ethiopian unic we

[35:23] have Saul who becomes Paul and we have

[35:25] the household of Cornelius

[35:28] here's the amazing thing by the way acts

[35:31] is a book of History it's a historical

[35:34] book it tells us what's happened in the

[35:36] life of the

[35:37] church chapter eight chapter nine

[35:40] 10 people from different

[35:42] backgrounds people from different

[35:45] countries people of different

[35:49] races when Christ and the church get

[35:53] involved there's only one need salvation

[35:58] amen doesn't matter their race doesn't

[36:01] matter their background doesn't matter

[36:02] any of that stuff when the church in

[36:04] Christ is involved he's got one Focus

[36:07] all men are to be saved and come into

[36:08] the knowledge of the truth that's his

[36:10] heart and his

[36:13] desire now if you were hoping that after

[36:16] 13 minutes and me going completely

[36:18] through all four points that we were

[36:19] done no we're

[36:23] not now we're going to make application

[36:26] we see the spirit of God working here in

[36:29] the text we see philli and we see the

[36:31] Ethiopian unic

[38:00] Lord God's called us and he's directing

[38:05] people we call it having Divine

[38:12] now some of us get

[38:14] nervous when God tells us to go to

[38:17] people because people are

[38:20] peopley and people make us

[38:23] nervous but I want to remind you of

[38:25] something

[38:27] if God sent you to

[38:29] people he's already

[38:33] there and if he's already there he's

[38:35] already

[38:37] working and if he's already working

[38:39] we're just reaping the

[38:42] benefits that's all we're

[38:44] doing we're just

[38:47] obeying God said I want you to go to

[38:49] talk to that

[38:51] person I don't want to talk to that

[38:53] person remind yourself every time that

[38:55] fear comes in remind yourself the faith

[38:58] that I can do all things through Christ

[39:00] which strengthen me and if he's called

[39:02] me that person listen listen listen

[39:04] here's something to remember the Holy

[39:05] Spirit draws people to

[39:10] Salvation so he's already

[39:13] working on them before he told you to

[39:18] speak to

[39:21] them say what about the people that I

[39:24] spoke to that didn't get saved one of

[39:26] two things one you went without the Holy

[39:28] Spirit directing you

[39:29] to or two you're just the

[39:33] planter some plant some water but

[39:35] ultimately God bringeth forth the

[39:38] increase so sometimes it may not be you

[39:41] who gets to reap the Harvest you just

[39:43] may be seed planting or pouring a little

[39:46] water on it pouring a little water on it

[39:48] pouring a little water on it the water

[39:50] of the word Chang in people's

[39:52] lives so if God directed you to a person

[40:03] it a revival time people are getting

[41:22] you may be uncomfortable talking with

[41:25] someone but there's a whole track rack

[41:26] out there that has portions of scripture

[41:29] on it that you just handed to somebody

[41:31] and they have in their possession a

[41:33] portion of scripture who could change

[41:36] their life for

[41:39] eternity would you do

[41:42] it you ever been there when God said

[41:44] give a track to that person I don't I

[41:52] peoply I don't want to talk to them God

[43:19] crayons there's tissues there's cough

[43:20] drops there's all sorts of stuff and 27

[43:24] different ink pins but none of them

[43:26] worked

[43:31] so I got a prayer request for you pray

[43:32] for your preacher this afternoon that I

[43:34] get to come back tonight no just

[43:38] teasing so what I did is we got some

[43:41] track holders and so she's got one of

[43:43] those in her purse so she just has to

[43:45] look for that and she gets one of those

[43:47] now other things we found in there were

[43:49] toys that she didn't put in there but

[43:52] kids put in

[43:54] there and certain snacks that certain

[43:56] Sons like and they put them in there she

[43:59] didn't put them in there they put them

[44:00] in there so they'd have them when they

[44:01] wanted them mom hold this for me you

[44:04] know some of the moms can relate to

[44:07] that but have those gospel tracks with

[44:13] you because we don't

[44:15] know how the holy spirit's already been

[44:20] working the Bible does say we're we're

[44:22] to be ready at any time to give an

[44:23] answer to any man for the Hope which

[44:24] lith within us

[44:29] sometimes that's audibly sometimes it'll

[44:31] be through a gospel

[44:34] track or a portion of the word of

[44:37] God I have a great opportunity September

[44:40] the 1st is our first Sunday in September

[44:42] it's best missions

[44:44] Sunday it's where we work with best

[44:47] missions on getting the

[44:48] Bibles and they take them into Thailand

[44:51] and then they have distribution centers

[44:53] that get them into countries that won't

[44:54] allow the Bible

[44:56] in but by God's grace and mercy they're

[44:58] able to get them

[45:00] in they just finished after 10 years of

[45:03] work the L Bible and they're raising

[45:06] money to send a container of L Bibles to

[45:09] L we're thankful for the work of God in

[45:12] that

[45:13] Ministry but we get to be a part of that

[45:15] as a church we have the change the

[45:17] change life offering that offering b i

[45:19] we do this change and September the 1st

[45:21] we're going to take up a special

[45:22] offering that day to help

[45:29] so because you you may give to a project

[45:32] it may be a portion of scripture that

[45:34] lands in a family that changes a family

[45:36] for

[45:40] eternity and because of your desire to

[45:44] get the word of God into the hands of

[45:46] people it could change a life for

[45:51] eternity brother Hall's got it now that

[45:54] it's cheaper to print a Bible

[45:57] and those languages and deliver it than

[46:00] it is to get a medium coffee or a venty

[46:03] coffee from

[46:07] Starbucks so the next time you pull in

[46:09] Starbucks Bible or

[46:13] coffee coffee will change your life for

[46:16] a little

[46:19] bit but a Bible could change someone's

[46:21] life for

[46:22] eternity just just think about it

[46:28] I believe it's about 25 cents and to 40

[46:33] cents right now with the cost I think

[46:34] it's gone up between about 45 to 50

[46:36] cents and they can print a new testament

[46:38] John and Romans there John and Romans

[46:41] for 50 cents and put in the hands of

[46:43] people portion of the word of God that

[46:44] can change their life for

[46:47] eternity so the word of God in people's

[46:49] hands just a portion of scripture can

[46:50] change somebody's

[46:52] life we're getting ready to go into

[46:55] September September Is Us us our

[46:57] missions month we're not able to do our

[46:58] conference this year because the

[46:59] missionary is not able to come and in

[47:01] fact in your bulletin we have a

[47:03] missionary supposed to be here next week

[47:04] he contacted me yesterday afternoon and

[47:06] situation happened he's not able to come

[47:07] brother John Proctor won't be here next

[47:09] Sunday he apologizes for that but

[47:11] situation happened he's not able to be

[47:13] here the ministry there getting into the

[47:16] prisons and uh is still happening and

[47:19] he's going to get to do that he's just

[47:46] church now L's on the border of South

[47:49] Dakota so it's over 30 mile drive I

[47:53] believe to the church that he was

[47:55] attending but by God's grace they're

[47:57] going to plant and start an independent

[47:59] fundamental Baptist Church in L

[48:01] Minnesota you're going to meet him and

[48:02] his wife

[48:05] tonight so God works on our

[48:09] hearts just like he does a church

[48:11] planner's heart just like he does in

[48:12] missionary's heart September 15th we'll

[48:15] have one of our missionaries in I'm not

[48:16] going to reveal his name at this time

[48:18] I'm waiting to hear back from him if we

[48:20] can even live stream that Sunday that

[48:22] he's here he's in a field that we are

[48:24] not allowed to talk about on the

[48:27] and God's doing a great

[48:29] work doing some marvelous

[48:36] people are just Spirit

[48:39] Le spirit-led people have Divine

[48:47] God so with Philip's case the spirit

[48:50] knew exactly where he was reading knew

[48:52] exactly the question that he was had and

[48:54] the Spirit Led Philip right there the

[48:56] Holy Spirit begins to prepare people's

[48:58] hearts to receive the

[49:00] word and all we're to do is to give it

[49:03] out just to give out the

[49:08] word we're we're to be ready to give an

[49:12] if somebody had a question for you would

[49:13] you have an

[49:16] answer or would you know where to point

[49:18] them to to find the

[49:23] answer lastly

[49:43] baptism belief proceeded

[50:09] basing your salvation on something

[50:17] truth is that Jesus Christ died and was

[50:24] what we believe that he died for us and

[50:26] he can save us and we know it to be

[50:29] personally true and the confession that

[50:32] make is that we have already believed in

[50:35] our

[50:38] heart what do I mean by that don't go

[50:40] around and say hey you want to go to

[50:41] heaven yeah I want to go to heaven pray

[50:43] this prayer amen

[50:48] no praying a prayer only will not get

[50:58] belief the Romans tells us for with the

[51:00] heart man believeth under righteousness

[51:04] and with the mouth confession is made

[51:06] unto salvation the belief starts the

[51:09] process if I didn't believe that Jesus

[51:12] could save me why would I pray and ask

[51:14] him to save

[51:18] me but if I just want to pray a prayer

[51:20] you want to go to heaven yeah that's why

[51:22] as long as I'm Pastor there will never

[51:24] be as far as I am I PL on and the Lord's

[51:27] worked in my heart there's never going

[56:19] direction of the still small voice of

[56:21] God When sin is screaming loudly in your

[56:27] years you got sin in your life yesterday

[56:30] was the day to get right with God the

[56:32] next best time is here in the invitation

[56:39] moment God said speak would you

[56:41] speak God said hand a track to somebody

[56:44] do you have one you can hand to

[56:48] them we've got them

[56:50] available every track in your hand is

[56:53] potential for God to change a life

[56:58] it's potential for people to be saved

[57:00] every track in your hand has the

[57:01] potential for somebody to be

[57:04] saved but if it stays in the hand of a

[57:08] saved person the potential for others to

[57:12] be saved will be

[57:17] wasted oh it's still the potential but

[57:20] if it never gets out of your possession

[57:23] and into somebody else's

[57:29] their life will never be

[57:33] changed the word of God doesn't get into

[57:35] the hands of people the word of God

[57:38] can't change their

[57:39] life we've got to get it to the

[57:43] people one of the sad things about

[57:45] missionaries it takes them so long to

[57:47] get to the

[57:52] field is it that God doesn't have

[57:55] Mission dollar to get them there he

[57:58] does the problem is it doesn't always

[58:01] get placed into a local Church's hand to

[58:06] help a missionary get there

[58:12] quicker God's vehicle for evangelization

[58:16] of the world is through the local

[58:20] church that's not the building it's

[58:24] us it's us

[58:27] they can be hard people are

[58:31] peopley but be

[58:34] spirit-led you never know what God might

[58:38] do how he might use you to change your

[58:45] life I

[58:47] have names in my

[58:49] head of people that I don't

[58:53] know if they are saved or not

[59:00] that I lost

[59:03] opportunity to share the gospel with

[59:12] them I have another

[59:14] name in my

[59:17] heart and whenever I get

[59:20] discouraged and I slack

[59:22] off my witnessing

[59:27] I remember John

[59:31] gr I

[59:33] remember the service in the nursing

[59:38] home on a Saturday

[59:41] morning after a Friday afternoon car

[59:45] accident when I woke up Saturday and I

[59:47] didn't feel like going and

[59:51] preaching CU I was

[59:53] sore I felt like I'd been hit by a car

[59:57] the officer told me if it had been about

[59:59] 6 Ines farther back into the door of the

[60:01] driver's side door I wouldn't be

[60:04] alive by God's grace and mercy just had

[60:07] some scrapes and some

[60:09] soreness I almost called

[60:12] in I almost called the activity director

[60:15] of the nursing home and said I can't

[60:17] come today been in a car accident I had

[60:19] to borrow my sister's little bitty car

[60:23] it's not made for tall people to sit in

[60:27] and I drove the 40 minutes up there to

[60:30] the nursing

[60:31] home John and Dorothy gr husband and

[60:34] wife sat right there in the front and I

[60:37] preached that

[60:39] message and John

[60:42] said can I talk to you in my room I said

[60:46] sure John and I went to his room

[60:48] and John said close the door John and

[60:52] Dorothy sat there and John looked at me

[60:54] and said preacher is that that's what he

[60:56] called me

[60:58] preacher I can't do it said what do you

[61:01] mean John what what can't you do he

[61:04] looked at Dorothy and he said Dorothy

[61:05] I'm

[61:06] sorry said what are you sorry about John

[61:09] he goes 60 years ago when we were in

[61:12] that little

[61:13] church and you went down during the

[61:15] invitation

[61:16] time and I heard you I came down to and

[61:20] knelt beside you and I heard you pray

[61:23] and ask Jesus to be your savior

[61:28] and he said and you looked at me and

[61:29] said John did you get saved too and I

[61:31] said yes he said I really

[61:34] didn't he said for over 60 years I've

[61:37] been I've been lying to you

[61:40] Dorothy and that moment I got to lead

[61:42] John to

[61:47] Christ the next morning getting ready to

[61:51] get on the bus to go pick up kids on the

[61:52] bus route I got a call from the nursing

[61:55] home

[61:57] that night John

[62:02] died he's in heaven

[62:06] today but I'm reminded

[62:09] constantly of what

[62:12] if what if I'd have stayed

[62:16] home what if IID have not

[62:21] gone would have he gotten saved

[62:26] would he

[62:29] not I don't want any more what

[62:33] if

[62:35] stories in my Christian

[62:38] Life what if I

[62:41] had gone would they have gotten saved

[62:43] what if I what if I let's not have any

[62:46] what is Let's Be spirit-led and when the

[62:49] spirit says go and the spirit says talk

[62:53] delay sometimes it requires haste

[62:57] sometimes you just got a moment and God
