[0:00] Very special Lou Dobs tonight. Lou,
[0:04] >> well, thank you. Tonight, there are two
[0:06] storms raging in this country. Hurricane
[0:09] Ike, a storm like we've not seen since
[0:11] Katrina 3 years ago, perhaps more
[0:14] powerful, and a political storm like
[0:16] we've never seen in presidential
[0:17] politics. Tonight, Hurricane Ike is
[0:20] charging toward the Texas and Louisiana
[0:22] coastline. It's expected to make
[0:24] landfall within hours. Our
[0:26] meteorologists say the storm will bring
[0:29] certain death to people who have refused
[0:31] to evacuate from Galveastston Island and
[0:33] a political storm on the campaign trail
[0:36] as Senator Obama has launched aggressive
[0:38] new attack ads against Senator McCain.
[0:40] Will Senator Obama's aggression lift his
[0:42] sagging poll numbers or will it alienate
[0:45] independent voters? Three of the best
[0:47] political analysts in this country join
[0:49] me to give us their assessment. And our
[0:51] public education system is in crisis. In
[0:54] fact, it's failed an entire generation
[0:56] of our students. But neither
[0:58] presidential candidate has offered a
[1:00] clear plan, a clear, urgent plan to
[1:03] address what is nothing less than a
[1:05] national crisis. Tonight, we talk with
[1:07] some of the most respected and
[1:08] innovative thinkers on public education.
[1:11] From a school that proves success is
[1:13] possible if we hold elected officials,
[1:15] administrators, and teachers
[1:17] accountable. All of that, all the
[1:19] today's news and much more from our
[1:22] independent convention with our
[1:24] independent perspective straight ahead
[1:26] here tonight.
[1:30] >> This is a special edition the Lou Dos
[1:32] Independent Convention. News,
