[0:18] You're watching CBS News continuing
[0:20] coverage of Showdown in the Gulf. From
[0:23] CBS News headquarters in New York, here
[0:25] are
[0:27] Carrie Smith and Paula Zon.
[0:31] >> And good morning everybody. I guess it's
[0:32] hard to figure out who's going to be on
[0:34] the shift because we're changing
[0:35] throughout the night. Welcome back to
[0:36] our special coverage of Operation Desert
[0:39] Storm. I'm Paul
[0:40] >> and I'm Harry Smith. And here are the
[0:41] Persian Gulf headlines this morning. Two
[0:44] more American planes down. Israel looks
[0:46] for an answer to an Iraqi missile
[0:48] attack. Moscow denounces the attack as a
[0:51] dangerous turn and Allied ground forces
[0:54] are on the move in Saudi Arabia. There
[0:57] are two more American planes down in the
[0:59] Gulf War. One is identified as an Air
[1:01] Force F15E Strike Eagle carrying two
[1:05] crewmen. The other is a Navy attack
[1:07] plane and A6 Intruder, also a twoman
[1:10] aircraft. Both crews are listed as
[1:13] missing. In Israel, the cabinet has
[1:15] ended an emergency session this morning
[1:17] in Jerusalem. They met to decide on a
[1:20] response to an Iraqi Scud missile
[1:22] attack. At least eight missiles hit
[1:24] Hifa, Tel Aviv, and other coastal areas.
[1:27] They did not carry chemical weapons, but
[1:30] their conventional warheads did
[1:31] considerable damage. 10 people were
[1:34] hurt, none killed. American officials
[1:36] are urging a cautious response from
[1:39] Israel, but the Soviet Union has
[1:41] denounced the Iraqi attack as a
[1:43] dangerous turn in the Gulf War. Allied
[1:46] planes continue their roundthe-clock
[1:48] attacks on targets in Iraq and Kuwait.
[1:51] But planes are not the only weapons in
[1:53] the air war. T
