[2:30] Among Us father we ask that the holy

[2:31] spirit will overwhelm us with your

[23:39] morning going to begin reading in verse

[23:41] 19 and read down through verse number 31

[23:44] of entitled the message this morning a

[23:46] missions minded man in Hell missions

[23:49] minded man in Hell Luke 16 verse number

[23:53] 19 there was a certain rich man which

[23:55] was clothed in purple and fine linen and

[23:57] fared sumptuously every day there was a

[24:00] certain beggar named Lazarus which was

[24:01] laid at his gate full of sores Desiring

[24:04] to be fed with the crumbs which fell

[24:06] from the rich man's table moreover the

[24:07] dogs came and licked his sores it came

[24:10] to pass that the beggar died was carried

[24:13] by Abraham carried by the Angels into

[24:15] Abraham's bosom the rich man also died

[24:19] and was buried and in hell he lifted up

[24:22] his eyes being in torments and seeth

[24:23] Abraham AAR off and Lazarus in his bosom

[24:26] he cried and said Father Abraham have

[24:28] mercy on me and send Lazarus that he may

[24:31] dip the tip of his finger in water and

[26:15] Lord that you'd stop the distractions

[26:17] that would distract those today Lord if

[26:20] there's someone here today that does not

[26:21] know you as Savior May today be their

[26:24] day of salvation in your name I pray

[26:33] seated in Luke 16 earlier in the

[26:36] chapter the Lord uses a

[26:39] parable a parable is a Earthly story

[26:42] with a Heavenly meaning or a Heavenly

[26:44] application and he uses this Parable in

[26:47] the beginning part of the

[26:49] chapter I want you to notice something

[26:51] though about Luke

[26:52] 16 verse number

[26:55] 20 I want you to read it out loud with

[26:58] me 16:20 ready and there was a certain

[27:03] beggar named Lazarus which was laid at

[27:07] his gate full of

[27:09] sores

[27:12] pause Jesus gave a

[27:15] name question if this is a

[27:19] parable and Jesus gave a name if it was

[27:21] a make believe story and Jesus gave a

[27:25] name Jesus would be

[27:27] lying so this isn't a

[27:30] parable there really was a beggar named

[27:33] Lazarus who died don't ever let someone

[27:36] tell you that Luke 16:1 1931 is just an

[27:40] allegorical story it's just a make

[27:42] belief story that Jesus us no it's

[27:44] there's a real person there's a real

[27:47] rich man who had a beggar named Lazarus

[27:49] at his gate so this these are real

[27:53] people real people not make

[27:59] Believe real people not make

[28:03] belief why is that so important cuz it's

[28:06] easy when you see a missionary's video

[28:09] when you hear about a mission field to

[28:11] pretend or to think it's make Bel it's

[28:15] over there yeah they're real people but

[28:17] we don't have the same feeling brother

[28:19] Charlie spent time in the Philippines

[28:20] there're probably faces in the

[28:22] Philippines that if we saw him on the

[28:24] screen wouldn't have any effect on us

[28:26] but when him and Miss K and miss re see

[28:28] them they got names they got faces they

[28:30] know people guess what it's real to them

[28:34] and missions ought to be real to every

[28:37] one of us because it involves real

[28:39] people real people my friend are dying

[28:42] and going to hell all across the world

[28:45] and it ought to do something to you and

[28:47] I it ought to affect us in such a way

[28:50] that real people real people are dying

[28:54] every day every second every minute just

[28:58] gone into eternity gone into

[29:04] eternity it's real

[29:07] people so he talks about it in the

[29:10] text a certain rich man a certain one

[29:14] not just anyone there's a certain one

[29:17] it's a real person I don't know why the

[29:21] Lord didn't give us the rich man's

[29:23] name but maybe he didn't do it because

[29:27] there were some of his friends

[29:30] present maybe he didn't do

[29:32] it because he didn't want to give honor

[29:35] to the unsaved

[29:37] man we don't know why but he did I have

[29:42] a personal opinion I'll tell you later

[29:43] about why I think he did it that way

[29:45] there's a certain rich man was clothed

[29:46] in purple and fine linen fared

[29:48] sumptuously every day you can have

[29:50] everything you want in this earth if you

[29:52] don't have Jesus you're not going to go

[29:53] to heaven you can have the nicest house

[29:56] you can have the nicest stuff if you

[29:58] don't have Jesus Christ in your heart

[29:59] you're not going to heaven you don't

[30:01] have an eternal home in heaven because

[30:04] of sin and all have sinned and come

[30:06] short to God you're Destin spend

[30:07] eternity in

[30:08] hell you already got a ticket for

[30:13] hell so he's got everything that he

[30:17] could desire on

[30:20] Earth but he doesn't have a reservation

[30:22] for

[30:23] heaven continues on there's a certain

[30:27] beggar we mentioned him he's laid at his

[30:29] gate and he's full of

[30:31] sores Desiring to be fed with the crumbs

[30:33] which fell from the rich man's table

[30:34] moreover the dogs came and licked sword

[30:36] by the way Lazarus didn't get into

[30:38] heaven because he had swords and because

[30:40] he was

[30:42] poor that's not what got him to

[30:44] Abraham's bosom which eventually led him

[30:46] to Heen that's not what got him there

[30:48] it's not because of his social status it

[30:50] was not because of his sickness it was

[30:53] not for any of those reasons he got to

[30:55] Heaven because he had faith

[30:59] he had faith in what God had said he

[31:01] believed in his heart and so this

[31:03] morning we look at this situation there

[31:04] are real people real people all across

[31:08] this world dying and going to

[31:10] hell my heart is broken about what's

[31:13] happening in North Carolina South

[31:14] Carolina Tennessee Georgia the sadness

[31:17] that is

[31:18] there and you see the devastation you

[31:21] see the overwhelming flooding you see

[31:23] the problems that are

[31:26] there but it ought not just to affect

[31:29] your mind in such a way that you are sad

[31:32] it ought to get down to the very grip of

[31:34] your soul and that realize just last

[31:36] week there were people who were going

[31:38] about their lives had no idea what was

[31:40] going to happen to them and they went

[31:42] out into eternity and many of them may

[31:44] have ended up in the place called hell

[31:46] last week ought to affect your

[31:49] soul ought to do something to you Hey

[31:52] listen if you can think about hell and

[31:54] you can preach about hell and you can

[31:56] talk about hell and it not bring it here

[31:58] to your eye there's something wrong with

[31:59] your

[32:00] heart real people die let me give you a

[32:04] statistic 10 out of 10 people

[32:09] died the only ones who will break that

[32:12] statistic is when the Rapture

[32:15] happens up until now that statistic has

[32:18] proven

[32:20] 100% except for one man in the Old

[32:23] Testament named Enoch and another man

[32:26] named Elijah

[32:28] but God had a special plan for

[32:31] them other than

[32:33] that 10 out of 10 people

[32:36] die Bible tells in Hebrews it's appoint

[32:38] unto man once to die then after that the

[32:42] Judgment there's one appointment

[32:45] everybody's got an appointment with

[32:47] death 10 out of 10 people die real

[32:51] people die last week there was an

[32:53] abundance of people who died in North

[32:54] Carolina South Carolina Georgia

[32:55] Tennessee because of a hurricane

[32:58] it ought to affect your heart there are

[33:01] people all across this world that are

[33:03] dying and going out into

[33:05] eternity we heard about a couple weeks

[33:07] ago the 1040

[33:08] window 1040 window of the world the

[33:11] latitude longitude area there that's

[33:12] where most of the world's population

[33:14] lives it's got the least amount of

[33:16] missionaries in

[33:19] it lots of souls going out into eternity

[33:23] to

[33:24] Eternity we saw Rockets fired on Israel

[33:27] this past

[33:30] week God do something to your soul to

[33:33] recognize real people are

[33:36] dying sometimes we can look in the paper

[33:39] some of you have a practice you still

[33:42] get a newspaper some of the young people

[33:44] like what's a newspaper it's a thing

[33:46] that gets mailed to you all right some

[33:48] of you it's digitally you watch it but

[33:50] the rest of you just get a paper and

[33:52] what do you do you open up to the

[33:54] obituary section for two reasons number

[33:56] one to make sure you're not in it

[34:00] and number two to see if you know

[34:01] someone that

[34:03] isn't it's very easy watch this to open

[34:06] up a paper to see 15 people in the

[34:08] obituary section and not have any

[34:10] emotional attachment to any of them and

[34:12] not bother you but if someone's in the

[34:15] obituary Callum that you know it becomes

[34:17] more

[34:22] real there's a beggar named Lazarus he's

[34:24] a real person who died there was a rich

[34:26] man who died there are people when you

[34:28] open up the obituary call them you ought

[34:29] to recognize there are people

[34:31] dying in our

[34:34] town that may not know the Lord Jesus

[34:37] Christ as their savior ought to do

[34:39] something to

[34:41] you why when Jesus saw the multitudes

[34:45] when he saw the people he was moved with

[34:49] compassion it's real people missions

[34:51] minded man in Hell real people make not

[34:54] make Bel so let's talk about it's real

[34:57] people but

[34:58] secondly let's talk about what happened

[35:00] verse 22 it came to pass that the beggar

[35:04] died like everybody dies was carried by

[35:07] the Angels into Abraham's bosom the rich

[35:09] man also died and was buried notice the

[35:12] punctuation their thought continues and

[35:13] in hell he lifted up his eyes being in

[35:15] torments seeth Abraham a far off in

[35:17] Lazarus in his bosom now I want to do

[35:19] some theological work here very quickly

[35:21] in Luke 16 this is before Jesus death

[35:25] and Resurrection

[35:27] that moment in time hell and what we

[35:30] call Paradise or Abraham's bosom was in

[35:32] the heart of the

[35:33] earth side by side there was a gulf

[35:36] fixed between them on one side were

[35:38] those who believed God on the other side

[35:40] are those that were

[35:43] lost the side that was Paradise was

[35:46] wonderful the side that was hell was

[35:51] awful the Bible tells us that When Jesus

[35:54] ascended after his resurrection he took

[35:57] captivity ity captive those that were in

[35:58] Abraham's wasn't we took them to heaven

[36:01] and then the Bible says Hell hath

[36:03] enlarged itself so it took up the space

[36:07] that Abraham's wisdom now that doesn't

[36:09] mean that some people got to move into

[36:11] the nicer side of town no hell enlarged

[36:15] itself so the fire the burning all the

[36:18] torments we'll talk about here in a

[36:19] moment it's in the heart of the

[36:21] Earth right now in the heart of the

[36:23] earth there's a place

[36:25] burning and Fire

[36:29] torment

[36:30] Agony and real people are

[36:35] there number two this morning it's a

[36:38] real place called hell it's not make

[36:43] believe hell is real it's a real place

[36:48] where real people go now look what it

[36:50] tells us the richmen also died and was

[36:54] buried and in Hell immediately medely

[36:58] following his death he was in

[37:02] Hell absent from the body for the

[37:04] believer is present with the Lord absent

[37:35] hell he lifted up his eyes being in

[37:50] plural in Hell there's torments

[37:55] plural another passage of scripture this

[37:57] describe some of the agonies that people

[37:59] will feel there'll be weeping they'll be

[38:00] wailing they'll be nashing a teeth

[38:02] there's torments there not only is there

[38:05] torments in Hell the Bible talks about

[38:06] in The Book of Revelation there are

[38:07] things held captive in hell right now

[38:10] that are tormenting the people that are

[38:11] in Hell they'll be loose from Hell

[38:14] during the tribulation period but right

[38:16] now there's things there that are

[38:17] tormenting them so there's torments

[39:03] pressure of the world is upon them the

[39:06] fire is all around

[39:08] them torments plural real fire that's

[39:12] where real people are dying every day

[39:14] and spending

[39:17] eternity and don't just read the

[39:19] missionary letter on the board and say

[39:23] look look hey hey it's sad it takes the

[39:26] modern Miss most of them two to three

[39:28] years to get to the

[39:32] field want you to think about that two

[39:34] to three years how many Souls on their

[39:36] field are

[39:39] dying why does that happen well God's

[39:43] mission's money hasn't gotten into the

[39:46] mission Fund in a local church to help

[39:48] them get

[39:50] there let me rephrase it in case you

[39:53] missed it God's missions money hasn't

[39:57] gotten into the mission fund of a local

[39:59] church in order to help them get there

[40:02] why because God's Mission money is still

[40:04] in the pocket of

[40:07] Believers instead of where God wanted it

[40:10] to be in the mission field say well how

[40:13] do you know if that's me preacher we you

[40:14] need to talk to God about

[40:17] it God wants you and I to be involved in

[40:22] missions

[40:24] giving you know what else that involves

[40:28] local church

[40:33] missions

[41:06] to help with what the ministry of the

[41:08] local church of reaching the lost of

[41:12] keeping the buses rolling of helping

[41:15] take care of the facilities so that

[41:17] people have a place to come

[41:22] to taking care of the local facility so

[41:25] people have a place to come to and

[41:26] Worship the Lord

[41:27] and people you say we could do it

[41:29] outside well we could if we had to and

[41:30] if we had to we

[41:34] would amen but but God's money hasn't

[41:38] made it into the offering plate that God

[41:40] wants it in to be in the hands of the

[41:42] local church to do the work of the

[41:45] ministry God's plan is to use the local

[41:49] church to reach the

[41:51] world and so the offering money and the

[41:54] missions money that comes in to reach

[41:56] the world is used for that purpose to

[41:58] reach the world that's what it's there

[42:02] for it's not a get-rich scheme it's not

[42:05] a pyramid scheme it's being faithful to

[42:08] do what God wants you to do and give how

[42:09] God tells you to give and God desires

[42:12] watch this and giving he desires

[42:14] faithfulness he doesn't desire a

[42:17] specific dollar amount that everybody's

[42:19] got to give the same dollar amount he

[42:22] desires faithfulness in your giving to

[42:24] the Lord that's what he desires why for

[42:27] the ministry of reaching people with the

[42:31] gospel that's what God's plan is for the

[42:34] money now where's God's money is in your

[42:36] pocket say no my money is in my pocket

[42:39] oh no my friend it's God's money it's he

[42:43] is say well I worked for it but he gave

[42:45] you the breath he gave you the air he

[42:48] gave you the strength he gave you the do

[42:50] the knowledge he gave you that you say

[42:54] investing and the returns that I got on

[42:56] my Smart in investing that's how no no

[42:58] no my friend God gave you the knowledge

[43:34] hell one of the worst things in my

[43:35] opinion about hell is found in the next

[43:45] remember that thou in thy lifetime

[45:35] saved I can see that teenage boy's face

[45:42] name and I wonder if I'd have prayed

[46:17] gospel and spend eternity in Hell

[47:09] mind to share the gospel with

[48:59] Hell than there are in some local

[49:02] churches let it not be your story and

[49:05] let it not be our church story

[50:08] microphone down into hell to have a man

[50:20] a passion for Souls that you'd have a

[50:22] passion to give to missions you'd have a

[50:25] passion to go on missions trips that you

[50:28] God's been calling you to full-time

[50:30] missions and you say no I don't want to

[50:33] no it's not part of my plan God says

[50:35] that's the point it's part of my plan

[50:37] let go of your plans and let my plan

[50:45] response he says they have Moses and the

[50:48] prophets that' be the portion of the

[50:50] word of God they had at that time Moses

[55:27] that are not taking buses to go pick up

[55:30] boys and girls and people who can't have

[55:32] a ride to church and offer them free

[55:34] transportation to church why not so we

[55:36] can say oh we had more people in church

[55:38] no every one of those people are souls

[55:39] that need to be saved this hell is real

[55:43] and real people go

[55:45] there it ought to do something to your

[55:48] heart

[55:49] listen the rich man in Hell

[55:52] unfortunately cared more about missions

[55:57] than some church members

[56:07] asked for Abraham to let Lazarus

[56:10] resurrect from the dead to go tell his

[56:14] family he asked for a miracle to happen

[56:21] family but we won't spend an extra $20

[56:26] month to help a missionary get to the

[56:29] mission

[56:30] field we won't come out on

[56:34] visitation or go out and share the

[56:36] gospel with people we won't pray for

[56:38] those while they're out on

[56:42] visitation and God's plan for you to be

[56:45] missions minded is not just in your

[56:49] wallet it's in your

[56:51] heart

[56:53] speaking giving

[56:56] and maybe even

[57:01] going but the man in

[57:04] hell sometimes can seem more

[57:07] concerned than you and

[57:10] I why is

[57:14] that I think one of the

[57:16] reasons is that it's people on a

[57:20] screen is people on on a piece of paper

[57:25] it's a photo and it's not

[57:29] personal to

[57:31] you every believer needs to have a

[57:35] personal connection with

[57:40] missions every believer ought to have a

[57:43] personal connection to

[57:49] missions Lord's impressed upon my wife's

[57:51] heart a dollar amount to give every week

[57:53] to missions

[57:58] and it's by faith that we give

[58:02] that because honestly transparently it

[58:06] doesn't fit my

[58:10] budget but that's my budget not God's

[58:13] budget so I had to change it to God's

[58:16] budget and then everything else

[58:22] after in our lives the work listen if

[58:26] you're hanging on to what God gave you

[58:28] instead of being faithful to give it to

[58:32] God do you think God might have some

[58:35] consequences for

[58:38] that you think God is

[58:41] pleased when he gave his money to his

[58:45] people to use to reach the lost

[58:48] world and it doesn't make it where God

[58:51] intended for it to

[58:53] go I wonder how God feels

[58:59] because God could look down from heaven

[59:01] and

[59:02] say you don't understand if you put that

[59:04] in

[59:06] there than those missionary letters and

[59:10] phone calls your pastors been getting

[59:12] about missionaries who need support to

[59:14] get to field missionaries who need

[59:15] support to get to field missionaries who

[59:16] need the support to get to the field

[59:18] they could come and share the burden of

[59:20] missions with you and you could see the

[59:22] need there and you could get involved in

[59:24] helping them get the gospel to those

[59:28] places why does pastor bring in

[59:30] missionaries so you can see the

[59:33] need you see the burden and I'm thankful

[59:36] for what God did earlier this

[59:39] year in the increase in our missions

[59:46] giving but I think God wants to do it

[59:48] again you say preacher and this and this

[59:51] economy and this listen God's money

[59:57] ought to be managed the way God wants it

[60:03] today does your eye as Lamentations say

[60:06] affect your

[60:08] heart I hope it does would you

[60:13] stand would you close your eyes for just

[68:50] home still we're having a class on

[68:53] Wednesday nights and so we will meet

[68:55] with all those on Wednesday nights that

[68:56] are in the parenting class in the

[68:57] fellowship hall I know some of you like

[68:59] well I got little kids well I got good

[69:01] news for you we got a little kids

[69:02] program and a kids program is going to

[69:05] run on Wednesday night during that time

[69:08] so you can take your kids to the class

[69:10] and then come to our class you say well

[69:11] I'm I don't have kids anymore that are

[69:13] at home I'm not going to be in the

[69:15] parenting class I got good news we got

[69:17] men that are going to be preaching in

[69:18] the auditorium or having services in the

[69:20] auditorium too and so whether you're in

[69:22] the auditorium or whether you're in the

[69:25] Young parents class or parenting class

[69:27] or you're involved in the Ministries

[69:28] with the other kids just a great

[69:30] opportunity on a Wednesday nights and so

[69:32] we really had a desire been praying

[69:34] about it for months on how to reach and

[69:36] help young adults parents and with young

[69:39] families and so this is what the Lord

[69:41] placed on our heart to do so starting

[69:42] October 30th on Wednesday nights uh

[69:45] we're going to start down here be in the

[69:47] fellowship hall with the young adult

[69:48] parents and all of that stuff or medium

[69:51] adult

[69:52] parents old adult parents you feel

[70:14] any of that stuff we're not breaking off

[70:15] into small groups for be like we're GNA

[70:18] go to everybody's house no we're still

[70:19] going to have church and still going to

[70:21] do things right so the October 3 brother

[70:23] GS is going to be preaching in the

[70:24] auditorium and so looking forward to

[70:26] that got a couple other guys preaching

[70:27] throughout the month of November so be a

[70:29] great time so I encourage you parents

[70:31] parents please make plans to be here on

[70:34] Wednesday night it'll be a blessing to

[70:35] you it be a help to you be encouragement

[70:38] because you realize I'm not the only one

[70:41] that struggles with raising my

[70:43] kids amen it'll be a help to you and so

[70:47] it helps you so I encourage you to come

[70:49] make plans to come starting in October
