[0:44] kurick good evening everyone it's the
[0:47] last thing anyone would expect this time
[0:49] of year in the last place in the middle
[0:51] of this holiday season a gunman opened
[0:53] fire on shoppers at a mall in Omaha
[0:56] Nebraska police say he killed at least
[0:58] eight people and wounded several others
[1:00] before taking his own life Michelle band
[1:03] of our CBS Omaha affiliate KMTV has the
[1:07] very latest on this developing
[1:09] story at first people at the busy Omaha
[1:12] Mall couldn't believe what they heard I
[1:15] heard something I had no idea that it
[1:18] was gunshots so many shots so fast that
[1:21] by the time police arrived only 6
[1:23] minutes after the call it was too late
[1:26] we have confirmed nine people that have
[1:29] been
[1:30] uh that are have died from their
[1:32] injuries at least five others were
[1:34] wounded two critically early reports
[1:37] focused on the Von M Department Store
[1:39] where the majority of the victims
[1:40] including the gunman dead from an
[1:42] apparent self-inflicted wound were found
[1:45] frightened Shoppers and employees
[1:47] huddled wherever they could searching
[1:49] for safe shelter while SWAT team
