[0:45] as we take our bibles and turn to mark

[0:52] the bible says this and the same day

[0:55] when even was come he said unto them let

[1:03] sent away the multitude they took

[1:05] him even as he was in the ship they were

[4:02] around you and there's some uncertainty

[4:06] around you fear creeps

[4:09] in does that sound like today

[4:13] the uncertainty around you the

[4:16] unknown has caused fear to crept into

[4:20] the hearts of many a people

[4:22] it's crept into their hearts and they

[4:24] are fearful and afraid

[4:25] they're fearful and afraid because they

[4:27] don't know they're down to four rolls

[4:31] that's all they got left in the house

[4:33] and they don't know when they're going

[4:35] to get another package

[4:37] they're down to the last three pumps of

[4:40] hand sanitizer

[4:42] they tried to order some on amazon but

[4:44] it said it's coming in june

[4:48] and so fear has crept in now

[4:51] as i mentioned to you the last few weeks

[4:53] fear is an emotional response to the

[4:55] information that you have

[4:57] but as christians we have something that

[4:59] combats fear

[5:01] and its faith but it collides together

[5:04] does it not

[5:05] here are the disciples jesus said unto

[5:07] them we're going

[5:09] to the other side if jesus said they

[5:12] were going to the other side what do you

[5:14] think jesus meant by that

[5:16] they were going to the other side

[5:19] but yet in the midst of a storm

[5:23] they got scared lightning

[5:27] waves wind

[5:30] i wonder if one of them said another

[5:32] i've never seen it this bad before

[5:34] this is the worst storm i've ever been

[5:36] in in my life

[5:38] i don't know what's going to happen i

[5:40] don't know if we're going to make it

[5:43] you say a preacher are you exaggerating

[5:44] no he they asked the lord do you not

[5:46] care that we're about to die that we're

[5:47] going to perish

[5:49] they thought their lives were over

[5:53] kind of sounds like today doesn't it

[5:56] it's the end of the world

[5:59] but god is still god god is still god

[6:03] and as a christian we have a hope

[6:07] we have two hopes that i'd like to share

[6:09] with you real quickly number one

[6:11] the next thing on god's prophetic

[6:12] calendar is the rapture of the church

[6:15] that could happen at any moment at a

[6:17] moment in a twinkling of an eye

[6:19] dead in christ shall rise first said we

[6:21] which are alive and remain shall be

[6:22] caught up together with them in the

[6:24] clouds to meet the lord

[6:25] in the air and so shall we ever be with

[6:28] the lord

[6:30] the other promise is this to be absent

[6:33] from the body

[6:34] is to be present with the lord

[6:37] no matter what we face in our life

[6:40] heaven awaits us

[6:42] amen heaven awaits us

[6:45] but here we find that these disciples

[6:49] they're fearful and the bible says they

[6:53] had

[6:54] no faith now these are men that have

[6:57] walking with jesus these are men that

[7:00] have heard the teachings of jesus

[7:02] these are men that have seen the

[7:03] miracles that he's performed

[7:05] are you with me but yet they're still

[7:08] fearful and afraid because you can read

[7:11] your bible

[7:12] every day and still have to fight fear

[7:16] you can fill your spirit every day with

[7:18] the things of god and still

[7:20] have to fight fear

[7:23] because it's a response to the

[7:25] surroundings

[7:26] around you but you'll notice the

[7:29] disciples here

[7:31] he had sent them away they took him as

[7:34] he was in the ship

[7:36] in verse 36 it says this they were also

[7:38] with him

[7:40] other little ships

[7:44] so there were other people watching

[7:48] how the disciples were handling their

[7:51] storm

[7:52] are you listening there were other

[7:54] people watching

[7:55] how the disciples were handling the

[7:58] storm that they were in

[8:00] now the other little ships didn't have

[8:02] jesus in the boat

[8:05] the other little ships are on the sea

[8:08] jesus is not in the boat with them there

[8:10] are all alone in their ship

[8:14] but while they're in their ship they can

[8:16] see them in the other ship

[8:18] and seeing how they respond to the storm

[8:22] it's kind of like today we live in a

[8:25] world

[8:26] that is watching to see how christian

[8:29] people respond

[8:31] to this storm one of the things that's

[8:34] important to remember is that

[8:36] god is to be honored but we are to be

[8:38] good citizens

[8:40] you notice that verse in second timothy

[8:42] 1 7 for god has not given us the spirit

[8:44] of fear

[8:45] but of power and of love and of a

[8:48] sound mind so in other words god gave us

[8:52] a brain

[8:54] and he wants us to use it he gave us a

[8:57] brain to make godly

[8:58] decisions so that means in order to make

[9:02] god he says you've got to pray about it

[9:04] you got to talk to the lord about it and

[9:07] the multitude of counselors there is

[9:09] safety you got to seek the lord in his

[9:11] direction

[9:13] which as a church we have done in

[9:15] regards to this situation

[9:18] i've talked to the mayor at times and

[9:21] spoken with him a couple times during

[9:23] this situation and

[9:25] received counsel and talking to him

[9:28] but there are other people watching you

[9:31] as a christian are going to respond

[9:34] now they may notice that you are social

[9:37] distancing which i think is a good

[9:38] practice to be in

[9:40] they may notice that you too are being

[9:42] careful of those things you come in

[9:44] contact with they're noticing as the

[9:45] bible says that we're washing our hands

[9:47] you sinners

[9:50] and we're taking care of those things

[9:53] they're also noticing that we're here

[9:56] talking about the lord

[9:58] i placed an order this week there's a

[10:00] man who wrote a new track

[10:02] what to do during covet 19 they're on

[10:04] their way

[10:05] we delivered our church here in a couple

[10:07] weeks 500 of them given

[10:09] to us for free that we can take and hand

[10:12] out to people

[10:14] and encourage them from the word of god

[10:16] on how to handle this situation

[10:19] because god wants us to share the gospel

[10:21] with people

[10:23] if we share the gospel with people as

[10:25] much as we share information about the

[10:27] coronavirus there'd be a lot of people

[10:28] being saved

[10:30] amen so other people are watching how

[10:33] you and i handle this situation

[10:36] the bible says in verse 37 and there

[10:38] arose a great storm of wind and the

[10:40] waves beat into the ship

[10:42] so that it was now full

[10:45] and jesus didn't know it was coming is

[10:47] that what it says

[10:49] it's not what it says is it no it says

[10:52] that

[10:52] jesus was asleep

[10:56] because he already promised they were

[10:57] going to the other side

[10:59] he knew how strong the winds were going

[11:01] to be he knew how strong the waves were

[11:03] going to be

[11:04] he knew how much the lightning was going

[11:05] to flash he knew how much the thunder

[11:07] was going to roll

[11:08] in fact we could put it to this way if

[11:10] we fast forward to 2020

[11:12] god knew about the virus before it got

[11:14] here god knew about how many souls would

[11:16] be lost god knew about the sicknesses

[11:19] god knew about the situation of how

[11:21] churches would respond

[11:40] and the hinder part of the ship now i'm

[11:47] but i have heard that a lot of ships

[11:51] have rudders not in the front of the

[11:54] ship

[11:56] but in the back of the ship in the

[11:59] hinder part of the ship the motor

[12:03] pushes the ship it steers the ship by

[12:07] the rudder

[12:08] it's in the back of the boat where jesus

[12:11] was

[12:13] he was in the hinder part he was in the

[12:16] back

[12:17] i don't know but in my glorified

[12:20] imagination i almost pictured jesus

[12:23] asleep on the pillow with one hand on

[12:25] the rudder

[12:27] now it's not in scripture but that's

[12:29] just my interpretation of the passage

[12:32] that's how i look at it he knew where

[12:34] they were going he said they're going to

[12:35] other side he knew how to navigate the

[12:37] store man

[12:38] he could do it in his quote-unquote

[12:39] sleep if he needed to

[12:43] but we find he's in the hinder part of

[12:44] the ship

[12:46] and he's guiding and directing them

[13:03] but he knew he would get them through

[13:06] a lot of people today think that god

[13:08] does not care

[13:10] but he does care and he knows he will

[13:14] through this storm of life

[13:18] he knows what's ahead he cares about

[13:21] every single person

[13:25] here watching online

[13:28] and those who stayed at home today

[13:31] and are not participating in church

[13:33] services

[13:34] but he said unto them when he caused the

[13:37] winds to cease

[13:38] and the great calm he said to them why

[13:41] are you so fearful

[13:43] how is it that you have no

[13:46] faith god wants us to have faith

[13:51] in him god wants us to trust him

[13:55] in the storm now we've never seen days

[13:59] like this now some of you

[14:00] you may be at an age in your life you

[14:01] say well i lived through the great

[14:02] depression this is nothing

[14:05] that may be true for some of you some of

[14:08] you have gone through difficult storms

[14:10] in your life

[14:10] and you're thinking this is just another

[14:12] one i had someone today say to me

[14:14] pastor i'm going to reveal my age but

[14:16] i've been through the

[14:17] smallpox i've been through the

[14:19] chickenpox and i survived

[14:23] they made it through those things some

[14:26] of you have been

[14:26] in difficult situations

[14:29] some of you have been in the storms of

[14:31] war

[14:34] where those around you were falling left

[14:36] and right and somehow god protected you

[14:40] some of you have testimony that you

[14:42] weren't even saved yet and god still

[14:43] protected you

[14:45] and brought you through that you see

[14:48] today my friend we must remember

[14:50] god wants to say peace in your storm

[14:55] no matter what you and i are facing

[14:57] today he wants to bring peace

[15:00] to your storm so this morning when you

[15:03] woke up and you had the courage to come

[15:06] to church today praise the lord for that

[15:10] but you're going to have to deal with

[15:11] monday when you're looking and you go

[15:14] i gotta go to walmart today

[15:21] so you're gonna put on your gloves and

[15:23] put on your mask and you're gonna go

[15:27] why you say well it's not that i'm

[15:29] fearful

[15:30] it's that i don't trust other people i

[15:33] don't trust that other people are

[15:34] washing their hands preacher

[15:36] i don't blame you but it's the fear of

[15:40] others

[15:41] the fear of the unknown and they're

[15:43] fearful of i know what i'm doing but i

[15:45] don't know what they're doing and i

[15:46] understand that fear

[15:50] i have a wife and children i understand

[15:53] that fear

[15:56] but i also know the god

[16:00] of the storm and he's bigger

[16:04] than the storm but sometimes

[16:08] we feel in the dark

[16:11] of the midnight we're hiding our faces

[16:15] we're fearful and afraid because we

[16:18] don't know

[16:20] if we're going to make it through this

[16:25] can i take a time out and tell you if

[16:30] your destination as a christian is

[16:32] heaven

[16:34] now you probably don't want to go on

[18:48] god can get us through whether he says

[20:31] why because fear will drain

[20:35] you and you need to refill the faith

[20:51] not to seek the lord but you need him

[20:56] you need to fill the faith tank every

[21:12] but you figured it out i got

[21:15] 65 miles before i'm actually empty

[21:19] i got 60 miles before i have to actually

[21:24] and some of you are part of a generation

[21:26] it gets below a half a tank you fill it

[21:28] up immediately

[21:31] but in our life if you're going from

[21:34] sunday to sunday

[21:37] you're going to come to saturday and

[21:40] got an empty tank

[21:45] but really the truth is this

[21:48] you'll get halfway through monday ding

[21:52] empty tank a week won't make it

[21:56] you gotta fill up every single

[22:03] lower than they've been in a long time

[22:12] filling up because it's so cheap

[23:21] to this storm-filled world

[23:24] because he is in the boat

[23:27] and we can face the storm because he

[23:32] we'll make it to the other side
