[0:01] good morning it's Friday and we're

[0:05] excited about today and looking forward

[0:07] to a exciting time coming Sunday as we

[0:10] celebrate Resurrection Sunday and

[0:13] looking forward to that but I want to

[0:16] encourage you this morning to consider

[0:18] him we preach Wednesday night about that

[0:21] subject considering Christ and hopefully

[0:24] you've been doing that over the last few

[0:25] days I want us to go back in time I want

[0:28] us to think about that last week of

[0:30] Jesus's life it's Friday and those of

[0:35] you that listen to the message on a

[0:37] Wednesday know that Christ died on

[0:40] Wednesday he's in the tube and for those

[0:43] that were his followers

[0:44] everything's been turned upside down in

[0:47] Luke 23 verses 55 and 56 the Bible says

[0:51] and the women also which came with him

[0:53] from Galilee followed after Joseph of

[0:55] Arimathea they're following him and

[0:57] beheld the sepulchre and how his body

[1:00] was laid and they returned and prepared

[1:02] spices and ointments and rested the

[1:04] Sabbath day according to the commandment

[1:06] so these women who were there at the

[1:09] cross are now sitting at at home

[1:12] preparing these spices and ointments to

[1:15] go anoint the body of Jesus the world's

[1:18] been turned upside down death is present

[1:23] it's amazing to stop and consider they

[1:25] followed him to the cross they heard the

[1:28] sayings of him they'd heard the

[1:29] teachings how he had said he would be

[1:32] rise again but yet here they are focused

[1:36] on the death and not fully looking

[1:40] forward to the resurrection the

[1:42] disciples they've gathered together in

[1:44] the upper room they're fearful afraid

[1:47] afraid because the chief priests and the

[1:51] scribes afraid because of Jesus has died

[1:55] that the fear is overwhelming fit the

[1:59] chief priests and scribes they remember

[2:02] Matthew tells us that they remembered

[2:04] that Jesus said he would arise and

[2:06] they've asked Pilate for guards to guard

[2:09] - so we've got people who don't believe

[2:13] in him as the Messiah guarding the tomb

[2:16] we have his earthly disciples that were

[2:20] so close to him hiding and trembling in

[2:23] a room we've got the women who followed

[2:26] him to the cross they're preparing

[2:28] spices to anoint the dead body of Jesus

[2:31] and Satan and all of his cohorts are

[2:36] celebrating because Jesus is dead and if

[2:45] the story ended there you and I would be

[2:49] discouraged you and I would be fearful

[2:52] and afraid but it's only Friday because

[2:57] you see my friend the story does not end

[2:59] there it's not the end of the story I

[3:02] love this time of year I love reading

[3:05] through the Gospel accounts and placing

[3:08] myself in the situation but can you

[3:10] imagine what's gonna happen to these

[3:13] folks

[3:14] can you imagine as the women leave and

[3:19] come very early in the morning on the

[3:21] first day of the week they've spent the

[3:23] last days preparing these things they've

[3:26] got their spices in ointments in tow

[3:28] they're coming to anoint the body of

[3:31] Jesus and on their journey they begin to

[3:34] talk amongst themselves who will roll

[3:36] away the stone and then when they arrive

[3:40] we know the rest of the story the tomb

[3:43] is empty praise be to God but right now

[3:47] in their hearts can you imagine those

[3:51] ladies putting the ointments mixing the

[3:56] spices getting them prepared to anoint

[4:01] the dead body of Jesus I'm wondering as

[4:04] they mix a little this with a little bit

[4:07] of that if maybe tears didn't run down

[4:09] their face because they're thinking he's

[4:13] dead he's dead

[4:16] I wonder as the disciples sit in the

[4:19] upper room if Thomas and the others are

[4:22] talking and they're fearful and afraid

[4:23] and wondering what's gonna happen next

[4:26] if there's some worry and anxiety

[4:30] they're telling it to calm down calm

[4:33] down

[4:33] I hear so noise I hear some noises is

[4:36] that the guard are they at the door

[4:39] fearful and afraid overwhelmed because

[4:44] it's Friday and Jesus is dead the

[4:50] scribes the Pharisees they've put

[4:52] together this guard to guard the tomb

[4:56] because they said they didn't want his

[4:59] disciples to come and steal the body and

[5:02] as Matthew says that this would be worse

[5:06] than the first all of these different

[5:12] roles playing out the believers in

[5:16] discouragement the believers frustrated

[5:21] the believers thinking is over but my

[5:27] friend you and I on the other side of

[5:28] Calvary and we've read the rest of the

[5:31] story we know the tomb is empty so don't

[5:34] mean discourage this Friday don't be

[5:37] overwhelmed don't be fearful and afraid

[5:41] Jesus is alive that should be an

[5:46] encouragement to your heart see today

[5:50] he's alive and very soon he will be

[5:55] returning to take his bride home with

[5:58] him this morning let me be an

[6:01] encouragement to you jesus is alive

[6:06] and he will bring victory into your life

[6:11] it reminds me of that great hymn that we

[6:16] love to sing I heard an old old story

[6:20] how a savior came from glory how he gave

[6:25] His life on Calvary to save a wretch

[6:29] like me I heard about his groaning and

[6:33] his precious Bloods atoning then I

[6:37] repented of my sin and won the victory

[6:41] and you know the chorus you know how it

[6:45] goes so wherever you're at right now

[6:48] watching this video let's sing it

[6:51] together because of what he's done for

[6:54] you and for me let's sing it together

[6:57] are you ready

[6:59] I'll help you hold victory Jesus my

[7:06] Savior forever he saw me and he born me

[7:14] with his redeeming blood he loved me ere

[7:20] I knew him and all my love was due him

[7:27] he plunged me to victory

[7:33] beneath that cleansing flood I hope and

[7:39] pray today as you go throughout your day

[7:41] you'll hum it you'll sing it you'll

[7:45] remember victory and Jesus because jesus

[7:49] is alive thanks for tuning in today we
