[0:00] Please pardon me. We're going back to
[0:02] Baghdad. There's activity in Baghdad.
[0:04] Let's watch and listen.
[0:06] [Music]
[0:09] That's the sound of anti-aircraft fire.
[0:12] Not incoming.
[0:23] What that sound was, no one can say for
[0:26] sure. This is the way things started
[0:29] last night. First air raid sirens, then
[0:33] anti-aircraft fires.
[0:37] Whether that was a boom from incoming or
[0:40] not, there's simply no way to tell.
[0:44] Certainly, the Iraqis believe that
[0:46] they're aircraft andor missiles
[0:50] either incoming or about to come in.
[0:54] What they try to do is put up a curtain
[0:56] of fire.
[1:01] Still some pops in the distance. General
[1:04] Buck Kernan, who's with me here. Uh,
[1:07] General, no way to tell whether this is

[1:25] high. They're probably as tight as a
[1:26] banjo string right now. So, anything
[1:28] that goes bump in a night, they're
[1:29] liable to respond to.
[1:32] One thing to keep in mind that
[1:42] Well, there's a pause. There were air
[1:44] raid sirens. Then, uh the anti-aircraft
[1:48] fire. if there were any big hits of
[1:50] weaponry incoming. We're unaware of it.
[1:53] General Cernandanda, we're going to hold
[1:55] on to this picture for a bit to see. Uh
[1:58] what should we expect in in the very
[2:01] first of the major aerial bombardment of
[2:04] Iraq? Well, I think the thing you're
[2:06] going to see is a totally integrated
[2:09] fight. uh the ground, air and and and
[2:13] sea systems all coming to b
