[0:22] Heat. Heat.

[0:37] Who's that?

[1:16] All right.

[1:39] My left

[1:44] side left.

[2:05] Oh, word.

[2:24] Heat. Heat.

[2:33] Heat up

[2:57] here.

[3:18] Heat. Heat.

[3:35] Heat. Heat.

[4:08] Four time

[4:14] center face.

[4:20] Oh,

[4:25] two more left.

[4:56] Basket down.

[5:12] There's

[5:13] Well,

[5:33] I'll

[7:16] to my left. Face

[7:20] more.

[7:23] Ready.

[7:31] One.

[7:42] Ready. Two.

[7:48] Ready.

[7:53] Breathe.

[8:08] Ready. Four.

[8:15] Colors. Colors. Turns. All right.

[9:42] The Lord our God is in our midst.

[9:46] And as we were in the procession, I

[9:48] couldn't help but think of the love and

[9:49] the outpouring that has begun in the

[9:51] nation

[9:53] for a great president,

[9:55] great world leader,

[9:58] and a faithful servant of almighty God.

[10:02] And so we come to hear the words of

[10:04] love. Jesus said, "Heaven and earth

[10:06] shall pass away, but my words shall

[10:09] never pass away." Listen to hear the

[10:12] word of God.

[10:14] God is our refuge and strength, the very

[10:16] present help in trouble. Therefore, we

[10:19] will not fear. Though the mountains

[10:22] shake in the heart of the sea, though

[10:24] its waters roar and foam, and though the

[10:27] mountains tremble with its tumult,

[10:30] be still and know that I am God. I am

[10:34] exalted among the nations. I am exalted

[10:37] in the earth. The Lord of hosts is with

[10:40] us. The God of Jacob is our refuge.

[10:46] And answer, you will remember that one

[10:47] time when we visited, we shared the 23rd

[10:50] Psalm. So, let me read it again. The

[10:52] Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

[10:55] He maketh me to lie down in green

[10:57] pastures. He leadth me beside the still

[11:00] waters. He restoth my soul. He leadth me

[11:04] in the paths of righteousness for his

[11:06] name's sake. Yay, though I walk through

[11:09] the valley of the shadow of death, I

[11:11] will fear no evil, for thou art with me.

[11:15] Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.

[11:18] Thou preparest a table before me in the

[11:20] presence of mine enemies. Thou anointest

[11:23] my head with oil. My cup runth over.

[11:27] Surely goodness and mercy shall follow

[11:30] me all the days of my life, and I will

[11:33] dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

[11:37] The Lord Jesus Christ said, "I am the

[11:39] resurrection and the life. He that

[11:42] believeth on me, though he were dead,

[11:43] yet shall he live. And whosoever lives

[11:47] and believes in me shall never die, but

[11:50] has passed from death unto life."

[11:55] And as I was looking, as you were

[11:57] looking at all the outpouring of love, I

[12:00] just felt this wonderful verse that we

[12:02] needed to share.

[12:05] What shall separate us from the love of

[12:07] Christ? Shall tribulation or nakedness

[12:11] or distress or persecution or famine or

[12:15] sword? Know in all these things we are

[12:18] more than conquerors through him who

[12:21] loved us. For I am persuaded that

[12:24] neither death nor life, nor angels, nor

[12:27] principalities, nor powers, nor things

[12:30] present, nor things to come, nor height,

[12:32] nor depth shall be able to separate us

[12:35] from the love of God, which is in Christ

[12:37] Jesus our Lord.

[12:40] And finally, just a few verses from the

[12:43] last book of the Bible where the Apostle

[12:46] John has been condemned to the island of

[12:49] Patmos and he has a vision of the new

[12:52] heaven and the new earth. And he writes

[12:55] these words which I share with you for

[12:57] your comfort as you begin this journey

[13:00] of remembrance.

[13:02] Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth.

[13:05] For the first heaven and the first earth

[13:07] had passed away, and the sea was no

[13:09] more. And I saw the holy city, the new

[13:12] Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven

[13:14] from God, prepared as a bride adorned

[13:17] for her husband. And I heard a great

[13:19] voice from the throne, saying, "See, the

[13:22] dwelling of God is with people. He will

[13:24] dwell with them, and God himself will be

[13:28] with them. He will wipe away every tear

[13:32] from their eyes.

[13:33] Death shall be no more. Neither shall

[13:37] there be mourning nor crying, nor pain

[13:40] anymore, for the former things have

[13:44] passed away. And may God bless his rich

[13:47] word to your hearts this day and every

[13:50] day. Please join with me in prayer.

[13:55] Eternal and Almighty God,

[14:00] as we have begun this day to honor the

[14:04] life of your servant Ronald Reagan,

[14:07] I would pray especially for his dear

[14:10] family.

[14:11] I pray, oh Lord God, that you would give

[14:13] them an extra strength,

[14:16] a sense of your peace and your comfort

[14:20] through the many greetings and the many

[14:22] miles which they must travel from. from

[14:24] one coast to our nation's capital.

[14:28] I pray, oh Lord God, that you would

[14:30] grant them sleep at night, a refreshing

[14:34] of tired bodies and weary spirits. May

[14:38] they be rejuvenated each day and greet

[14:41] it knowing that you are their strength,

[14:44] their Lord and their righteousness.

[14:47] Grant, oh Lord God, that our hearts will

[14:50] be deeply moved and touched by the

[14:53] wonderful memories of this very special

[14:56] human being.

[14:58] Thank you for the partnership that he

[15:00] and Nancy have shared together, for the

[15:03] wonderful example that they have been to

[15:04] us all and to the nation. Grant, O Lord

[15:08] God, that you would be with their

[15:09] family. Be we pray with Patty and with

[15:13] Michael and Ron and their loved ones. Be

[15:16] with us as a nation, O Lord God. For

[15:19] truly your word tells us that if one

[15:22] suffers, we all suffer together. And we

[15:25] have come this day to begin the

[15:26] preparation of our final respects.

[15:29] We thank you that this world is a better

[15:32] place because he was here. And we thank

[15:36] you for the pride that he instilled, for

[15:39] reminding us of the great nation that

[15:41] under your guidance we are. And may your

[15:44] peace go with us from this place,

[15:48] touching every heart. For we ask these

[15:50] things as we pray the prayer that you

[15:52] have taught us to pray, saying, "Our

[15:55] Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be

[15:58] thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be

[16:02] done as on earth as it is in heaven.

[16:05] Give us this day our daily bread. And

[16:08] forgive us our debts as we forgive our

[16:10] debtors. And lead us not into

[16:13] temptation, but deliver us from evil.

[16:16] For thine is the kingdom and the power

[16:18] and the glory forever. Amen.

[16:26] >> Thank you.

[16:37] God,

[16:39] God.

[18:49] There we go.

[19:12] Don't you

[19:44] There we go.

[20:15] Lots of time.

[20:19] Tomorrow should be easier.

[21:24] Nancy Reagan leading the family out into

[21:27] the sunlight

[21:30] in about a half hour.

[21:34] The library will be open to the public

[21:37] on a day and night, 24-hour basis

[21:41] for the public to view the coffin of

[21:43] Ronald Reagan.

[21:46] This ceremony at the President Ronald

[21:49] Reagan Library in Semi Valley

[21:53] began with military military personnel

[21:56] from each branch of the armed forces

[21:58] guarding the body of the former

[22:00] commander-in-chief and taking it out of

[22:01] the hearse.

[22:03] Then the playing of ruffles and

[22:04] flourishes by the president's own United

[22:06] States Marine Corps band

[22:10] and then hail to the chief which was

[22:13] followed in turn

[22:15] by what President Reagan himself had

[22:17] selected

[22:19] to have been played at that moment as he

[22:22] was escorted his body was escorted into

[22:24] the library. My country tis of thee.

[22:29] My country tis of thee.

[22:32] Sweet land of liberty.

[22:37] Of thee I sing.

[22:48] Land of the pilgrim's pride.

[22:51] Land where our fathers died.

[22:54] From every mountain side,

[22:59] let freedom ring

[23:05] under the strains of that

[23:08] secular hymn

[23:11] taken from the British God Save the

[23:14] Queen.

[23:19] Ronald Reagan's coffin was taken inside

[23:22] the library named after him.

[23:24] And now Mrs. Reagan and

[23:27] members of the family

[23:30] will leave the premises for at least the

[23:32] time being.

[23:36] Writing about her husband a few years

[23:37] ago, Nancy Reagan, who we can just

[23:40] barely see in her understandable

[23:44] fragility of the moment in the back of

[23:45] that car, wrote of her husband,

[23:48] "Ronnie is not a complicated man. He is

[23:51] a private man. even deep down a shy man,

[23:55] I think, but not a complicated one.

[24:03] As we see Mrs. Reagan pull away. We're

[24:06] reminded that she added, and I quote,

[24:08] "In the climate of today, I think it

[24:10] would be good for all of us to focus on

[24:12] the positive, the true, the things that

[24:14] really last, on character, humor,

[24:18] commitment, and love, and on the happy

[24:21] memories of a wonderful man in his

[24:23] life."

[24:25] Unquote. Nancy Reagan, the former first

[24:27] lady.

[24:44] The minister,

[24:46] the military pastor, Reverend Michael

[24:48] Benning,

[24:51] called this the beginning

[24:55] of a journey of remembrance.

[24:58] And so it shall be for most of the rest

[25:00] of this week

[25:02] at the Reagan Library the rest of this

[25:05] day and through the night and tomorrow

[25:07] Wednesday

[25:09] when the president's remains will be

[25:12] flown to Washington DC

[25:17] where his coffin will be placed in the

[25:20] great batunda the capital and then on

[25:22] Friday

[25:24] with a national memorial service

[25:29] at Washington Cathedral and then to be

[25:31] flown back

[25:33] to this library

[25:35] where internment will be on the grounds

[25:39] at a place selected by Ronald Reagan

[25:42] overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

[25:46] This is part of our continuing CBS News

[25:48] coverage of what the minister today

[25:50] called this journey of remembrance.

[25:54] We'll be back on the air as warranted

[25:56] during the afternoon and we'll of course

[25:58] have a complete wrap-up on tonight's CBS

[26:00] Evening News.

[26:02] Dan Rather reporting from CBS News World

[26:04] Headquarters in New York. We'll see you

[26:07] again soon.

[26:19] Actually, no. Katie didn't say anything

[26:21] at all. funny you should drag her into

[26:23] this.

[26:24] >> Not so funny. Not after all the crazy

[26:27] accusations she's made. And you know

[26:29] that's another thing. Katie seemed about

[26:31] as sane as I have ever seen her, which

[26:33] makes me rethink all the things that she

[26:34] accused you of before her little

[26:36] breakdown.

[26:36] >> Oh, Katie might be better because Simon

[26:38] back, but that doesn't change what

[26:39] happened before we got here.

[26:40] >> Mhm. Don't leave town.

[26:44] I
