[10:52] little Motors that would push the cars

[10:54] faster but then they'd Collide and crash

[10:56] and you'd have all that fun stuff to do

[10:58] then you'd have boys that intentionally

[11:00] were trying to crash other people it was

[11:02] great but I was thinking about that race

[11:04] car track today and it just running

[11:07] around and running around and then when

[11:09] it got off track the race was

[11:11] over until you picked it back up you put

[11:15] it back on track you start again now my

[11:18] brother and I we would had one of those

[11:20] and we were racing around with it and it

[11:22] came off track and Jacob decided he's

[11:25] gonna get his track his car back on

[11:26] track so he's not falling behind in the

[11:28] race and so

[11:30] he leaned over the

[11:32] racetrack and

[11:34] then collapsed the track and fell on it

[11:37] and all that fun stuff it just ruined

[11:39] all of our

[11:40] fun the bent pieces and now when we

[11:44] pulled the trigger we had Sparks that

[11:45] flew which was kind of fun but it didn't

[11:48] have the right connectivity

[11:50] anymore I was reading in the Book of

[11:51] Psalms this week about a man who got off

[11:56] track so if you have your Bibles go to

[11:59] PSM 77 tonight Psalm 77 we're going to

[12:03] read the first three verses together and

[12:06] you'll be seated and we're going to

[12:07] cover more of the chapter but I just

[12:08] want to read the first three with you

[12:10] today and the man's name is

[12:12] Asaf Asaf has ATT tributed at least 12

[12:16] Psalms that we know of that he wrote and

[12:19] pinned and he's mentioned another

[12:20] portion of scripture and we'll reference

[12:22] that here in a minute but Psalm 77 if

[12:23] you're able would you please stand in

[12:25] reference to the word of God we're going

[12:27] to read the first three verses of Psalm

[12:30] 77

[12:34] tonight the writer writes I Cried unto

[12:37] God with my voice even unto God with my

[12:41] voice and he gave ear unto me in the day

[12:46] of my trouble I sought the Lord my SAR

[12:50] ran in the night and ceased not my soul

[12:55] refused to be comforted I remember

[12:59] God and was

[13:02] troubled I

[13:04] complained and my spirit was

[13:08] overwhelmed

[14:11] Psalm and he's crying unto God with his

[14:15] voice and he gave ear to him and he

[14:18] complains he's overwhelmed verse four he

[14:21] says Thou holdest mine eyes

[14:23] waking I am so troubled that I cannot

[14:27] speak I have considered the days of old

[14:31] the years of ancient

[14:33] times I call to remembrance my song in

[14:37] the night I commune with my own heart

[14:42] and my spirit made diligent

[14:44] search will the Lord cast off

[14:48] forever and will he be favorable no

[14:52] more is his Mercy cling Gone

[14:56] Forever does his promise fail forever

[15:00] more hath God forgotten to be gracious

[15:04] hath he in Anger shut up his Tender

[15:08] Mercies

[15:13] now asap's a troubled man in Psalm

[15:19] 77 how do he get

[15:22] there how do he get off the

[15:26] rails how do he find himself here in

[15:29] Psalm 77 and some of you may be saying

[15:31] well who's Asaf in the first place well

[15:32] I'm glad you brought it up go to 1

[15:34] coronal chapter

[15:36] 16 1 chonicles chapter 16 we're going to

[15:39] do some

[15:40] groundwork and then we're going to come

[15:42] back to Psalm

[15:43] 77 first chronicles

[15:52] 16 1 chronicles 16 and verse number

[15:56] four and he appointed certain of the

[15:59] Levites to minister before the Ark of

[16:03] the Lord and to record and to thank and

[16:08] praise the Lord God of

[16:11] Israel and then there's three

[16:14] words

[16:16] Asaf the

[16:18] chief Asaf served during the time of

[16:22] David as a chief minister of Music he

[16:26] led three different choirs in worship to

[16:30] God and ASA had a Ministry of praise and

[16:34] worship now it continues on in verse

[16:36] five it has some more names for us and

[16:39] in verse six it tells us bah also in

[16:41] jesiel preached with trumpets

[16:44] continually before the Ark of the

[16:46] Covenant of

[16:47] God and so on this

[16:50] day

[16:52] David writes a

[16:55] song so let's look at it verse seven

[16:58] this on that day David delivered first

[17:01] this Psalm to thank the Lord into the

[17:05] hand of who Asaf and his Brethren so

[17:08] this is what

[17:10] Asaf led the Brethren to sing and he

[17:14] himself sang Let's look at verse eight

[17:17] give thanks unto the Lord call upon his

[17:20] name make known his deeds among the

[17:23] People Sing unto him sing Psalms unto

[17:26] him talk ye of all his one ous Works

[17:30] Glory ye in His holy name let the heart

[17:33] of them Rejoice that seek the Lord seek

[17:36] the Lord and his strength seek his face

[17:39] continually remember His Marvelous works

[17:43] that he' done his wonders and judgments

[17:46] of his mouth and we're not going to read

[17:48] the rest of it but he gets it with

[17:51] it and he's leading worship praise to to

[17:56] God and he's in a place of singing

[17:58] praise to God and throughout asaf's

[18:02] Ministry is worshiping the Lord and he's

[18:06] leading people to worship God and he's

[18:08] leading a choir of people to sing praise

[18:11] to

[18:13] God but then we get to Psalm

[18:16] 77 I don't know about you but the tone

[18:19] of the song sounded real

[18:22] different the tone of the song found in

[18:24] psalm 16 that David wrote in or 1

[18:26] chronicles 16 that David wrote In asaf's

[18:29] leading doesn't sound like what he's

[18:31] praying and saying in chapter 77 of the

[18:34] book of

[18:35] Psalms how does the guy get to that

[18:38] point well there's another Psalm we need

[18:41] to look at Psalm

[18:43] 73 go to Psalm

[18:54] 73 Psalm 73

[18:58] another Psalm that's contributed to

[19:02] ASAP this is what he sings truly God is

[19:06] good to Israel even to such as are of a

[19:09] clean heart and we'd all would say amen

[19:12] God is good amen God is

[19:15] good all right that's a little weak come

[19:20] good verse two but as for

[19:23] me my feet were almost gone my steps had

[19:27] well nigh slipped for I was envious at

[19:30] the foolish when I saw the prosperity of

[19:32] the wicked for there are no bands in

[19:35] their death but their strength is firm

[19:38] they are not in trouble as other men

[19:41] neither are they plagued like other men

[19:44] therefore Pride compasseth them about as

[19:46] a chain violence

[19:50] coverthe with fatness they have more

[19:52] than their heart could wish they are

[19:55] corrupt and speak wickedly concerning

[19:57] oppression they speak

[19:59] loftily they set their mouth against the

[20:02] heavens and their tongue walketh through

[20:11] doth God know and is there knowledge in

[20:16] ungodly who prosper in the world they

[20:19] increase in riches verily I have

[20:21] cleansed my heart in vain and wash my

[20:25] hands in iny for all the day long have I

[20:28] been plagued and chastened every morning

[20:31] if I say I will speak thus behold I

[20:34] shall offend against the generation of

[20:36] thy children when I thought to know this

[20:38] it was too painful for me till I went

[20:42] into the sanctuary of

[20:44] God then understood

[20:50] therein first part of Psalm 73 reveals

[20:53] to us what asaf's problem was and how he

[20:56] got off track and off the rails he got

[21:00] his eyes off the Lord and on the wicked

[21:05] and on other people when he got his eyes

[21:08] off of other people he

[21:10] began to have some thoughts that are

[21:14] revealed in Psalm

[21:15] 77 that I think we ought to pay

[21:17] attention to

[21:19] tonight so Asaf gets his eyes they're

[21:22] not getting judged like I think they

[21:23] should be judged they're get they're

[21:25] getting away with it it's not fair it's

[21:28] not Jud it's not right and he gets his

[21:31] eyes off of the lord I want you to

[21:34] remember that when we get back to verse

[21:37] 17 later on let's go back to Psalm

[21:41] 77 now that we've laid a little

[21:44] groundwork let's hear what ASAP says he

[21:46] said I Cried unto God with my voice even

[21:49] unto God with my voice and he gave ear

[21:51] unto me a troubled man number one

[21:54] tonight a troubled man pleads with God

[21:57] when your heart is troubled you need to

[21:58] go to God need to plead with God a

[22:01] troubled man pleads with God so I want

[22:05] you to notice some things about Asaf In

[22:07] this passage even though his heart is

[22:09] not fully right he knows who he should

[22:12] go to he knows who he should call out to

[22:16] he cries out to God with his

[22:19] voice so he's a troubl man who pleads

[22:23] and he prays with God and he cries out

[22:26] loud

[22:28] I don't know about you but there's been

[22:29] something in my prayer life when I just

[22:31] pray it in my head or I pray it in my

[22:36] heart it's different when I pray it out

[22:41] loud it

[22:44] is now working with young people for a

[22:47] long time we would always tell teachers

[22:49] the more senses you can engage in a

[22:51] student in learning the more they will

[22:54] remember what they've been

[22:56] taught so that's why we don't just speak

[22:59] the lesson to children we use

[23:02] illustrations or pictures we use tone

[23:05] inflection we go up and we down we

[23:08] emphasize it we talk about different

[23:10] things we use illustrations and we use

[23:13] ears and sometimes you even take the kid

[23:16] that causes problems all the time in

[23:17] class and you bring them into the

[23:21] illustration now you have to be careful

[23:23] because sometimes you want to put them

[23:24] in special

[23:26] illustrations like all right we're going

[24:36] comforted his sword it references uh the

[24:39] Hebrew word there it talks about his arm

[24:41] he's he's reaching out he's searching

[24:44] he's calling out he's seeking out and

[24:47] it's ran in night so long he didn't just

[24:51] pray a flare

[24:53] prayer he was praying for a

[24:57] while sought the Lord soore ran in the

[25:00] night he ceased not he didn't stop

[25:03] praying he said but my soul refused to

[25:05] be

[25:09] comforted I remembered

[25:14] God and was

[25:18] troubled does that make a lot of sense

[25:24] God and was troubled

[25:30] why would that trouble

[25:34] you thinking about God thinking about

[25:37] your relationship with God why would

[25:39] that trouble

[25:52] be and that's why it's troubling to him

[25:55] it's convicting to him he remembered

[25:58] remember how he used to walk into the

[26:00] sanctuary and sing

[26:02] praise he remembered how

[26:05] he I don't have time

[26:09] tonight but if he's the song leader if

[26:13] he's a choir

[26:15] director a lot of the book of

[26:18] Psalms he either sang out loud or he led

[26:22] other people to

[26:25] sing oh give thanks unto the Lord for

[26:28] for he is good his Mercy end my lord is

[26:34] psalms of praise that we could go

[26:36] through tonight and we could look at

[26:38] Asaf as a musician many of them were

[26:40] sung and worshiped to God he led the

[26:43] congregational

[26:48] song I wonder if he ever let

[26:51] it when his heart was

[26:55] overwhelmed you ever gone through the

[26:58] motion

[26:59] when your heart is

[27:03] overwhelmed he remembers God and it

[27:04] troubles him it's because his

[27:06] relationship with God's not

[27:09] right he continues on in verse three I

[27:14] complained and my spirit was

[27:17] overwhelmed he's not praying he's

[27:23] complaining have you ever complained

[27:25] pray

[27:28] come on be

[27:30] honest you really weren't asking God to

[27:33] do something you were just getting it

[27:35] off your chest you're pouring out your

[27:38] complaint before God you weren't asking

[27:41] God to answer you weren't asking God to

[27:43] help you're asking God you wanted God to

[27:45] know how bad you

[27:47] felt you ever been

[27:50] there ASAP was

[27:53] there we we talked about in 73rd Psalm

[27:56] when he said I have cleansed in vain

[27:58] in order to enter into the sanctuary the

[28:01] Tabernacle to worship he had to go

[28:02] through the ceremonial cleansing as a

[28:05] levite he had to be right with God when

[28:09] he went

[28:10] in now we find him he said I cleansed my

[28:14] self in

[28:16] vain everything I've been do it's not

[28:18] worth

[28:19] it until he entered into the sanctuary

[28:21] and then God spoke to his heart and

[28:24] changed his

[28:25] life so his life's off the rails right

[28:29] now I mean if we just stopped at verse

[28:31] three we'd say

[28:34] wow that guy needs to be fired from

[28:37] worship

[28:39] leader his heart's not in

[28:41] it his heart's he's complaining he's

[28:45] overwhelmed he's in

[28:48] trouble verse four let's look at

[31:07] ASA because he got his eyes off the Lord

[31:09] he got his eyes on people he has slid

[31:13] back he's not where God wants him to be

[31:16] in his relationship with

[31:18] God his life is off the rails hey he's

[31:23] and spun out now he's disconnected

[31:28] he knows he should be on the track but

[31:30] he's off the

[31:31] track so he remembers in his mind a

[31:34] Psalm that he once

[32:52] 77 once we get to verse 10

[32:59] and I said this is my

[33:01] infirmity but I will remember the years

[33:04] of the right hand of the most high I

[33:06] will remember the works of the Lord

[33:08] surely I will remember thy wonders of

[33:10] old I will meditate also of all thy Work

[33:13] and talk of all thy doings thy way oh

[33:15] God is in the sanctuary who is so great

[33:18] a God as our God Thou Art the god that

[33:21] doest Wonders that H has declared thy

[33:23] strength among the people thou Hast

[33:26] thine arm redeemed thy people the sons

[34:14] easy to go through the

[34:17] motions and

[34:19] spiritually be off

[34:23] tra it's easy to show up to a church

[34:26] service to sing God be the glory great

[34:29] things he hath done and in our heart you

[34:31] were just complaining about what God

[34:33] hasn't done for you it's very easy to

[34:36] get off track and say oh to God be the

[34:39] glory great things he hath done but he

[34:41] hadn't done it for me lately so he's not

[34:43] so good anymore it's easy to get off

[34:46] track in our spiritual life and get

[34:49] distracted when we get our eyes off of

[34:51] him is very very dangerous when our eyes

[34:54] leave him and get on other things and

[34:58] other people and our feelings and

[35:00] thoughts about how God deals with other

[36:03] to focus on keeping my car in track I

[36:05] couldn't watch where his car was at had

[36:07] to focus on keeping my car in track so I

[36:10] find Psalm 91 very helpful tonight for

[36:22] dwelleth in the secret place of the most

[36:26] high shall abide abide under the shadow

[36:33] almighty he that

[36:47] allmighty you and I must

[36:51] dwell with

[36:53] God we must dwell in his presence we

[36:57] must must be abiding with

[37:03] him we sing the song

[37:06] constantly

[37:10] abiding Jesus is

[37:13] mine you got to dwell in the secret

[37:16] place if you're dwelling you're under

[37:19] the

[37:20] shadow of the

[37:22] almighty listen to be under the shadow

[37:25] you got to be close

[37:32] few months ago we had a men's cookout

[37:36] here at the church we were grilling some

[37:39] food and put a little canopy tent

[37:43] up and about halfway through grillin we

[37:46] had to move the canopy

[37:49] tent the reason why is the shadow wasn't

[37:54] Fallen under some of the men who need

[37:57] the shadow to fall on

[37:58] them they were sitting in such a way the

[38:01] sun had moved and now they were under

[38:03] the sun and not in the shadow of the

[38:05] shade where it was about 10 degrees

[38:08] cooler than it was out in the sun so we

[38:11] adjusted the

[38:12] tent and now they were in the

[38:16] shade we can't move

[38:19] God we're the ones who have to move he's

[38:23] not a t well let me just move God to

[38:25] where I want him to be he's not a gen in

[38:27] a

[38:28] bottle he's not your wishes my command

[38:31] God he's the almighty God and we're to

[38:35] dwell with

[38:38] him be under the shadow of the

[38:41] almighty so have you ever gotten off

[38:45] track have you been like Asaf and got

[38:49] your

[38:50] eyes on others and off of

[38:55] him you know what it'll do

[38:58] it'll make it really hard to read his

[39:01] word when you're constantly

[39:04] thinking about other

[39:09] things it gets real hard to read the

[39:14] distracted by other

[39:18] things it's hard to hear from God when

[39:22] there's iniquity in your heart

[39:27] Asaf illustrates for us you can be in a

[39:31] position of leading others to God

[39:34] because that's what a worship leader

[39:36] does he leads other people to worship

[39:38] God in

[39:40] song and in your own

[39:43] heart not be right with

[39:48] god well who could that happen to any

[39:52] Christian that's

[39:55] alive any Christian that's alive

[39:58] could go through the

[40:01] motions and their heart be troubled

[40:05] their prayer life be complaining their

[40:09] eyes be out instead of up any Christian

[40:13] who's breathing can do that so how do

[40:17] you get back on track you dwell under

[40:20] the shadow of the most high you come

[40:23] back to God and let God get you back on

[40:27] track

[44:02] the message on secret

[44:04] sins I've preached it I think twice

[44:07] since I've been

[44:08] here I preached a message on secret sins

[44:11] out of first Samuel or second Samuel

[44:15] with

[44:17] David toward the end of the message I'll

[44:19] take off my suit jacket and underneath

[44:21] is a shirt that says secret sins all

[44:24] over it

[44:27] and you didn't know it was there till I

[44:29] took the jacket off and when I took the

[44:32] jacket off you saw oh there's secret

[44:34] sins

[44:35] there and it became obvious and then

[44:38] when I put the jacket back on guess what

[44:40] you knew I had secret sins written under

[44:43] my suit

[44:44] jacket and David he tried to keep his

[44:47] sin secret and God revealed

[44:53] it don't

[44:55] pretend don't don't pretend that you are

[44:58] perfect and upright and everything is

[45:01] right between you and God when you know

[45:05] you got sins written all

[45:08] over don't

[45:11] pretend recognize the sin repent of the

[45:16] sin and grow in the grace of

[45:21] God so in that message I end the

[45:25] message by saying

[45:27] I sang the congregational songs with

[45:31] secret sins under my

[45:34] jacket I led the choir that

[45:37] morning with secret sins under my

[45:42] jacket I preached three4 of a message

[45:46] with secret sins under my

[45:50] jacket and nobody

[45:54] knew but God knew

[45:57] and you know what happens

[46:00] today you came into this Auditorium

[46:03] tonight and maybe this week you're off

[46:08] track you've spun

[46:11] out you need God to get you back on

[46:14] track to place you back where you need

[46:16] to be under the shadow of the

[46:19] almighty or maybe tonight you walked in

[46:22] and you got secret sins written all over

[46:25] you you got two choices with secret sins

[46:28] number one is God will deal with it like

[46:32] he did with David

[46:35] publicly or you can pour it out to God

[46:40] privately and he'll cleanse you of it so

[46:44] you can keep hiding it but the Bible

[46:46] does say be sure your sin will find

[46:52] you or you can keep covering it

[46:55] up it'll come out

[46:59] or you can pour it out before God and he

[47:02] can do what he says he'll do in first

[47:04] John 1:9 if we confess our sins he is

[47:06] faithful and just to forgive us our sins

[47:08] and to cleanse us from all

[47:14] unrighteousness so tonight are you off

[47:17] track Asaf illustrates for us spiritual

[47:21] people involved in leading others to

[47:23] worship God can very easily get off

[47:26] track

[47:28] but thanks be unto God he can get you

[47:40] couldn't get back on track by

[47:43] itself it had no

[47:55] connection to the the power

[47:58] source in our spiritual life you know to

[48:00] get you off track you don't have proper

[48:02] connection to your

[48:07] God you'll struggle in your walk with

[48:09] God you'll find yourself off track off

[48:12] the rails and you need God to put you

[48:14] back

[48:16] on now if you're on track and

[48:19] everything's going right with God stay

[48:20] on track it's a daily

[48:23] Choice it's a daily choice to walk with

[54:35] Ministry it is very needful Ministry and

[54:38] right now we are in a season of babies

[54:40] in our church and little ones that's a

[54:43] blessing but that also means we need

[54:45] more helpers in the nursery right now a

[54:48] lot of the ladies are serving pretty

[54:50] much every other Sunday and so we could

[54:52] use some more helpers in the work of the

[54:55] nursery to be a blessing to that and so

[54:57] if you're interested in doing that you

[54:59] see myself or my wife we can get you

[55:02] information on that get you scheduled

[55:03] and helping out that would be a blessing

[55:06] uh I'm thankful for the ladies that

[55:08] serve in there um they do a great job

[55:11] when they're in there and it does help

[55:18] in a service and not have to be a parent

[55:31] Ministry and we are excited about growth

[55:34] it's exciting when you go to the nursery

[55:36] and there's a bunch of them in there now

[55:39] you may say that's not so exciting for

[55:41] me but well it is it's exciting because

[55:43] little ones in the nursery means you

[55:44] have a lively

[55:47] congregation and so they're Lively

[55:49] they're exciting so you pray for the

[55:50] nursery Ministry pray for those that

[55:52] work there and then also for the young

[55:54] people that are participa that so pray

[55:56] for the nursery Ministry this week and

[55:59] if God puts it on your heart to serve in

[56:01] the nursery Ministry we could use more

[56:03] workers we really could it's a good

[56:05] problem to have uh when I first came we

[56:08] would have one person in the nursery we

[56:10] may have had one or two I think Sunday I

[56:13] saw there was 10 in there Sunday morning

[56:16] and so that's a great problem to have

[56:18] and so now we have to schedule three

[56:20] workers for all the services so three

[56:22] workers for every service that means

[56:24] that on a typical suay there's nine

[56:27] ladies serving in the nursery throughout

[56:29] the day so nine ladies on those days and

[56:32] I think we have two on Wednesdays

[56:34] usually and so there's 11 so every week

[56:37] 11 ladies are serving in the nursery

[56:39] Ministry and so we have

[56:46] 22 you understand every other week we we

[56:48] need more workers it help alleviate some

[56:51] of the ones working over and over and

[56:54] over again now you may be hearing your

[56:56] you're a one time a month Nursery worker

[56:58] well maybe God will convict you to

[56:59] become a two-time all right for nursery

[57:02] work two times in the nursery work all

[57:04] right or three or four a month whatever

[57:07] the Lord leads you to do but we'd like

[57:08] for you to help out if you could uh it's

[57:11] seasonal all of them that are babies

[57:13] right now they're not going to be babies

[57:14] forever they're going to grow up and so

[57:16] we want to encourage you to help out if

[57:18] you can in that M hopefully they grow up

[57:20] right and so uh but be in prayer for one

[57:22] another uh be in prayer for the teachers

[57:26] prayed for them the last week the school

[57:27] teachers pray also for our Bible college

[57:30] students they start tomorrow Classes our

[57:32] first thing in the morning you guys all

[57:34] have 7:30 class in the morning Wy

[57:36] doesn't uh so Kon and Jos 7:30 you have

[57:39] a any class what time is your class

[57:40] tomorrow 9:30 he gets to sleep in a

[57:43] little bit unless his parents drop him

[58:22] neurologist assistant tomorrow and so I

[58:25] went today and got my steps in uh went

[58:28] to the OU Physicians building to get

[58:31] X-rays done today parked in the parking

[58:33] garage went on the elevator got up to

[58:35] the next floor walked down and that

[58:37] doesn't connect to the building so we

[58:39] had to go back down walk around walk to

[58:41] the other floor and then into the

[58:43] building walk back in the hallways all

[58:44] that fun stuff so I got my steps in

[58:46] today and by 10:30 I had reached my step

[58:49] goal for the day and so uh my phone

[58:51] dinged at 10:30 said you have

[58:53] accomplished your step goal within a

[58:55] marvelous morning I didn't know that

[58:57] iPhone used the word marvelous but that

[58:59] I'll take it so didn't feel marvelous at

[59:02] the moment but so but be in prayer for

[59:05] that appointment tomorrow they'll be

[59:06] making plans on what's next or they may

[59:10] just say you're doing well we'll see you
