[0:40] >> From ABC News headquarters, this is ABC

[0:44] World News with Diane Sawyer. Good

[0:47] evening. It was a history-making day for

[0:49] this nation, a nation still at war in

[0:51] Iraq and Afghanistan. The US has now

[0:54] joined a third battle front, firing

[0:56] missiles into another Muslim nation,

[0:58] Libya. A coalition of 21 countries

[1:02] trying to stop Moar Gaddafi from waging

[1:04] war on his own people. Before the

[1:06] attack, there were dramatic images of a

[1:08] Libyan military plane brought down. Not

[1:11] clear how as Gaddafi forces continued to

[1:14] descend on the rebel strongholds. But

[1:16] what is at risk for the United States

[1:19] tonight and what happens next? Our team

[1:21] has been reporting on these big events

[1:23] all day and we'll begin with Martha

[1:25] Ratitz in Washington. Martha Diane, the

[1:27] US and its allies said they would

[1:29] protect the people of Libya and that's

[1:31] what they're trying to do tonight. But

[1:33] there is no question we are at war once

[1:36] again. And the US for now is in the

[1:39] lead. The first volley of missiles, a

[1:41] withering attack on Gaddafi's air

[1:43] defenses. More than 110 Tomahawk
