[0:01] Ronald Reagan, 76.
[0:09] Tonight,
[0:10] the fourth session of the Republican
[0:13] National Convention from the Kemper
[0:15] Arena in Kansas City.
[0:17] This portion is sponsored by the people
[0:18] of Ford Motor Company on behalf of Ford
[0:21] and Lincoln Mercury dealers. Ford wants
[0:23] to be your car company. And now, here is
[0:27] Walter Cronkite.
[0:29] Good evening. Well, this is the night
[0:31] for which most of these 4,500 Republican
[0:34] delegates and alternates came here to
[0:36] Kansas City. Tonight, they nominate the
[0:39] man to carry their banner into the fall

[1:16] aides said, "It's going to take pulling
[1:20] of a rabbit out of a hat to do the job."
[1:22] And he said, "I don't see many rabbit
[1:24] hutches around Kansas City."
[1:26] If it still matters, our CBS delegate
[1:28] poll shows that this hour, for President
[1:31] Ford, 1,175
[1:33] votes when that balloting comes tonight.
[1:35] That's 45 more than he needs. Ronald
[1:38] Reagan, 1,067.
[1:41] And still, for some reason undetermined
[1:43] at this late hour, 17 of these
[1:46] delegates, according to our poll. Of
[1:48] course, in the Rea
