[0:02] The mystery grows in the investigation
[0:04] of the murder of Michael Jordan's
[0:06] father. And the Pope is set to speak out
[0:09] on the issue of sexual abuse in the
[0:11] church.
[0:13] This is the CBS Evening News
[0:21] and this is Bob Schiffer reporting. Good
[0:22] evening. The FBI said tonight that the
[0:25] investigation into the death of Michael
[0:27] Jordan's father is centering on the
[0:28] Elder Jordan's finances and his business
[0:31] interests in South Carolina. The FBI has
[0:34] entered the case they entered last night
[0:36] after state authorities admitted they
[0:38] had no leads and no suspects in the
[0:40] case. The Elder Jordan's body was found
[0:42] floating in a South Carolina creek, a
[0:44] gunshot wound in the chest two weeks
[0:46] ago, but it was not identified until
[0:48] this week. Authorities seem to be
[0:50] working on the assumption that Jordan
[0:52] was killed after being abducted. Leed
[0:54] Galen has our report.
[0:57] >> It appears likely now that James Jordan
[0:59] was kidnapped and murdered, apparently
[1:02] by someone familiar with the remote
[1:03] creek where his body was found and the
[1:06] place about 75 miles away where Jordan's
[1:08] car was abandoned. A 16-year-old boy has
[1:11] been charged with vandalizing Jordan's
[1:13] Lexus, but is not suspected of being
[1:15] involved in the murder. You know, I do
[1:16] know that they didn't do the killing,
[1:20] but they are being very helpful to the
[1:22] cops.
[1:22] >> The mysterious circumstances behind
[1:24] James Jordan's death has provoked
[1:26] speculation it could be anything from a
[1:28] random violent crime.
[1:30] >> More than likely, it's going to be a
[1:32] carjacking robbery type deal
[1:34] >> to a complicated plot related to
