[0:02] down there safan and then we've heard
[0:04] recently in the last few hours we've
[0:06] taken control of the city of Basra and
[0:09] the third infantry division made that
[0:11] dash through the desert moved up to an
[0:13] Nasaria crossing the Euphrates River
[0:16] there capturing those bridges intact and
[0:18] that set up the situation for the move
[0:20] on Baghdad further north we've actually
[0:22] even heard some reports that there are
[0:25] troops and maybe some fighting going on
[0:27] up here in Nha and so that's a situation

[0:55] city. Uh there were two Iraqi brigades
[0:57] that had surrendered yesterday outside
[0:59] of the city. There was the third Iraqi
[1:01] brigade or what was left of it inside.
[1:04] And General Tommy Franks at his briefing
[1:05] today suggested that coalition forces
[1:07] were simply going to sit outside of the
[1:09] city and wait and see what could
[1:10] develop. And so most of the most of the
[1:12] American Marine contingent left behind
[1:15] was uh was the British First Armor
[1:17] Division. But they have apparently in
[1:19] their talks with the with the Basra
[1:21] officials but also wit
