[0:07] you know why it's exciting it's friday

[0:09] because it's two days till sunday that's

[0:10] right two days till sunday when we can

[0:13] gather together again and worship the

[0:15] lord looking forward to this sunday is

[0:17] drive-in sunday again

[0:19] looking forward to sunday morning for

[0:21] mother's day service out in the parking

[0:24] lot so looking forward to that encourage

[0:25] you to come 11 o'clock be here a little

[0:28] bit early so our parking attendants can

[0:29] get you in the right spot

[0:31] but we're looking forward to having you

[0:32] here for

[0:34] sunday morning drive-in services for

[0:36] mother's day also want to encourage you

[0:38] sunday night six o'clock in the building

[0:40] yes in the building hallelujah and

[0:43] wednesday night at seven o'clock in the

[0:45] building so so excited for the

[0:46] opportunity to gather together with

[0:48] god's people

[0:49] sunday night was our first one wednesday

[0:52] night back in the building had a great

[0:53] service wednesday night and as we're

[0:56] leaving we've made adjustments so that

[0:58] it makes it safer for people as they

[1:00] leave to keep the germs down and

[1:02] everything else and we had propped open

[1:04] the front door to make it easy no one

[1:06] had to touch the door they could just

[1:07] walk right out and go head out to the

[1:09] parking lot there

[1:11] but as they were leaving we had that

[1:13] door open i said goodbye to everyone and

[1:15] uh gentlemen i were talking in the

[1:17] entryways here

[1:18] and uh sat down on that bench that's

[1:20] right there as we were talking to him

[1:22] and just uh fellowshipping together and

[1:25] then i had stretched out my leg and

[1:27] moved my foot and when i did lo and

[1:29] behold one of my greatest fears happened

[1:33] there was a snake under my foot

[1:36] i hate snakes have i told you that i

[1:38] hate snakes i hate snakes and this snake

[1:41] had crawled in i don't know how long it

[1:43] had been under my foot but it had

[1:45] crawled in while the door was open

[1:48] gotten under my foot and thankfully when

[1:51] i moved my foot just right i crushed the

[1:54] snake's head and it was dead but that

[1:57] was a hallelujah moment that it was dead

[1:59] because if it had been alive still we

[2:02] may have had a different response

[2:04] but we had a snake literally just crawl

[2:06] in

[2:07] and i was sitting there thinking about

[2:08] it and had been thinking about it last

[2:10] couple days and it reminded me of a

[2:11] verse in ephesians chapter 4 verse

[2:14] number 27 where the bible says neither

[2:17] give place

[2:18] to the devil

[2:20] all that snake was looking for was an

[2:22] opportunity to get in the building

[2:24] and the door was left open and because

[2:27] the door was open it had easy access to

[2:30] slither in to the building

[2:33] and as i was thinking about that in our

[2:35] spiritual life

[2:36] that's what we need to be on guard

[2:37] against ephesians 4 27 tells us neither

[2:41] give place to the devil if you and i are

[2:43] not careful we will leave the door open

[2:47] for that serpent the devil to sneak in

[2:50] to our life

[2:52] even this week there have been people

[2:54] talking with me and working with me and

[2:56] we've been discussing things and trying

[2:58] to help people in their lives and one

[3:00] person in particular messaged me and the

[3:02] snake the devil had snuck in into their

[3:05] family into their child's life

[3:07] through different things on the computer

[3:09] and they were so frustrated and so

[3:11] overwhelmed and as i shared with them

[3:13] some

[3:14] encouraging things and some things to

[3:16] help them it reminded me of this portion

[3:19] of scripture that we've got to be on

[3:21] guard we can't crack the door open

[3:24] and let the snake the serpent the devil

[3:26] have his entrance into our life

[3:29] but not only that sometimes it's maybe

[3:31] not through the computer gate for some

[3:33] people maybe it's through the thought

[3:34] gate and if we leave it cracked open

[3:38] the serpent will slither right in

[3:41] and then we'll start thinking things

[3:42] we're not supposed to think we'll come

[3:44] to judgments that we ought not to come

[3:46] to all because we left the door open

[3:50] how important it is to guard the mind

[3:52] and the bible tells us to keep our heart

[3:55] with all diligence for out of it are the

[3:57] issues of life and book of proverbs

[3:59] we've got to be careful because the

[4:01] snake though the serpent the devil he's

[4:04] just looking for a way to slither in to

[4:07] your life

[4:08] and so i want to challenge you this

[4:10] morning don't give him a place

[4:13] don't leave the door cracked

[4:15] just a few years ago about three years

[4:17] ago i prepared a message for a wednesday

[4:20] night i went home that wednesday been

[4:23] finishing up the outline went home for

[4:25] lunch

[4:26] as i arrived home for lunch i'm greeted

[4:28] by my wife who is a little upset

[4:31] because hanging off our front porch

[4:33] crawling out of the rafter there

[4:36] was a snake

[4:37] did i mention i hate snakes it was

[4:39] crawling out of the rafters there and so

[4:42] my wife says honey

[4:44] big husband

[4:46] kill the snake oh i hated it

[4:49] so i'm trying to get this snake and as

[4:51] i'm dealing with the snake it's trying

[4:52] to get back up into the roof and finally

[4:54] we got it down and got it out and oh i

[4:56] was so frustrated so i sat down and had

[4:59] lunch with my family and i told my wife

[5:01] i said it's funny that this snake was

[5:03] here today because i'm preaching out of

[5:05] the book of numbers when there's sin in

[5:06] the camp and god sent fiery serpents to

[5:10] correct the sin problem there

[5:12] and so we had a good laugh

[5:15] i came back to the church a few hours

[5:17] later

[5:18] getting ready for wednesday night

[5:19] service and i was greeted at the door

[5:22] by a three-foot rat snake

[5:25] yes at the front door of the church and

[5:27] unfortunately i'd only been here just

[5:29] just about eight or seven or eight

[5:30] months and i didn't know

[5:33] what kind of snakes were here in

[5:34] oklahoma at the time i hadn't read up on

[5:37] all the snakes

[5:38] horticulture just to know what snakes

[5:40] they were and so as i'm looking at it

[5:42] i'm wondering what kind of snake is it

[5:44] and i begin to saw it as it slithered up

[5:46] the glass and i noticed on the front

[5:49] doors

[5:50] where the doors locked there's a gap a

[5:52] small gap

[5:54] and i thought to myself oh no

[5:56] that snake's trying to slither up to

[5:58] that gap

[5:59] and get inside the building

[6:01] and i thought oh no what am i going to

[6:03] do

[6:04] so since i didn't know what kind of

[6:06] snake it was

[6:08] i called one of the men in our church

[6:09] who came over but in the process i

[6:12] distracted the snake and it came off the

[6:14] glass and it slithered down the side of

[6:16] the building

[6:17] have you been to bible baptist church

[6:19] you know that we've got a flower bed

[6:20] there right next to the building and

[6:22] then there's windows along the way and

[6:24] it got to one of the windows slithered

[6:26] up and coiled up in this windowsill

[6:30] the windows still it coiled up in is my

[6:33] office's window

[6:35] so as i looked out my window there the

[6:37] snake was

[6:39] how ironic it was but it was a reminder

[6:42] to me again

[6:44] did i mention i hate snakes

[6:46] it was a reminder of me in the book of

[6:48] genesis how the serpent was used by the

[6:51] devil

[6:53] to distract

[6:55] and deter

[6:56] and to get people away from the things

[6:58] of god

[6:59] you know here in our lives today the

[7:02] devil's looking for any opportunity

[7:04] any crack

[7:06] any weak spot that he can slither in

[7:09] into your life

[7:10] my friend the bible says neither give

[7:13] place don't give him a place don't leave

[7:16] a crack so parents be on guard in your

[7:18] children's lives

[7:20] be on guard

[7:22] put protections there

[7:24] if your struggle with your thought life

[7:27] put protections there

[7:29] guard your heart guard your mind

[7:32] every issue of life is an issue of the

[7:34] heart so guard your heart don't let the

[7:36] devil have a way to sneak into your life

[7:39] today

[7:40] so here's the word of encouragement

[7:43] there are snakes

[7:45] but thankfully

[7:46] through the power of god

[7:48] we can crush

[7:50] its head

[7:51] we can bruise its head

[7:53] and have victory over it today

[7:56] not because of me not because of you

[7:59] the bible says greater is he that is in

[8:02] you

[8:03] than he that is in the world
