[0:07] we're in revelation chapter 14 verses 14

[0:10] through 20. and so we'd like for you to

[0:13] grab your bible if you would please and

[0:15] join with us as we dive into revelation

[0:18] revealed here in revelation chapter 14.

[0:22] the bible says this and i looked and

[0:25] behold

[0:26] a white cloud and upon the cloud one sat

[0:29] like unto the son of man

[0:32] having on his head a golden crown and in

[0:34] his hand a sharp sickle

[0:36] and another angel came out of the temple

[0:38] crying with a loud voice to him that sat

[0:41] on the cloud

[0:42] thrust in thy sickle and reap for the

[0:44] time has come for thee to reap

[0:47] for the harvest of the earth is ripe and

[0:50] he that sat on the cloud

[0:51] thrust in his sickle on the earth and

[0:54] the earth was wreaked

[0:55] and another angel came out of the temple

[0:58] which is in heaven

[0:59] he also having a sharp sickle another

[1:02] angel came out from the altar

[1:04] which had the power over fire and cried

[1:07] with a loud voice to him that had the

[1:09] sharp sickles

[1:10] saying thrust in thy sharp sickle and

[1:12] gather the clusters of the vine of the

[1:14] earth

[1:15] for her grapes are fully ripe the angel

[1:18] thrusted his sickle into the earth

[1:20] and gathered the vine of the earth and

[1:22] cast it into the great winepress of the

[1:24] wrath of god and the wine press was

[1:27] trodden without the city

[1:28] and the blood came out of the winepress

[1:31] even under the horse's bridles

[1:33] by the space of a thousand and six

[1:35] hundred

[1:36] furlongs so back in verse 14

[1:39] it says i looked and behold a white

[1:42] cloud

[1:43] and upon the cloud one set like unto the

[1:46] son of man

[1:47] now we know that the son of man is a

[1:49] reference to jesus christ

[1:52] in fact jesus called himself the son of

[1:54] man more often than any other person did

[1:57] the son of man here is jesus christ and

[2:00] having on his head he's got a golden

[2:02] crown

[2:03] he's got that diadem crown he's the

[2:05] ruler and in his hand a

[2:07] sharp sickle so again this

[2:10] revelation 14 is in a future

[2:13] reference this is not in chronological

[2:16] display

[2:17] here in the chapter this is talking

[2:19] about future events

[2:21] that are going to happen in chapter 16

[2:23] and in chapter number 19.

[2:26] so here the son of man jesus sitting on

[2:28] the cloud having a golden crown and in

[2:30] his hand a sharp sickle

[2:32] now here's where some people have some

[2:33] difficulty in verse 15.

[2:35] it says another angel came out of the

[2:37] temple crying with a loud voice to him

[2:39] that sat on the cloud well why would an

[2:41] angel come

[2:42] and give the son of man instructions why

[2:45] would that happen

[2:46] well look where he came from he came

[2:49] from the temple

[2:50] and who's in the temple god the father's

[2:52] presence is in the temple

[2:54] so god the father gives the instructions

[2:58] to the angel to go and to tell the lord

[3:01] jesus christ to bring out his sharp

[3:04] sickle

[3:04] and to attack and to bring about the

[3:07] judgment the wine of the

[3:09] wrath of god's wine press and so that's

[3:12] a mouthful by the way

[3:13] the wrath of the winepress of god it

[3:15] should put it that way

[3:17] so here we're seeing about the judgment

[3:20] of god

[3:21] and god is coming jesus christ is coming

[3:24] to judge so when would this be

[3:26] this would be at the end of the

[3:28] tribulation period

[3:29] this year is previewing the battle of

[3:32] armageddon

[3:33] and it is that's described later in

[3:35] revelation 16 verses 15 through 21

[3:38] and also in chapter 19 verses 17 through

[3:41] 21

[3:43] you'll notice that it says that he's

[3:44] going to thrust in his sickle

[3:46] and reap for the time has come for thee

[3:48] to reap for the harvest of the earth is

[3:51] ripe

[3:52] now what's interesting is that the

[3:53] harvest of the earth is ripe the greek

[3:55] word there is

[3:56] zerano which means to shrivel or to

[3:59] wither away

[4:00] meaning that the vine here the ripeness

[4:04] of the vine is that it is rotten

[4:07] it is not that it's pure it's not that

[4:09] it's

[4:10] up for harvest because it's fully

[4:12] developed

[4:13] it's rotten now i remember growing up as

[4:15] a kid my mom planted tomatoes

[4:18] and there were times if you didn't get

[4:20] the tomatoes off the vine at the right

[4:22] time

[4:22] you'd come out and you'd find a nice red

[4:25] ripe tomato

[4:27] but as you'd would reach your hand in to

[4:29] grab it all of a sudden your fingers

[4:31] would stick into the

[4:32] back of the tomato because it was watch

[4:35] this overly

[4:36] ripe it had a rotten spot on it it had

[4:39] developed and matured and then

[4:41] ripened to a point that it was overly

[4:43] ripe and you and i both know this world

[4:45] is filled with wickedness

[4:47] and during the time of the tribulation

[4:48] period the world is going to be

[4:50] overly ripe with wickedness the

[4:53] antichrist is going to be having his

[4:55] power on display

[4:56] the antichrist he's the false vine jesus

[5:00] said that he's the true

[5:01] vine but here we find the antichrist

[5:03] vine the earth is

[5:04] ripe and so the sickle of god's judgment

[5:08] is going to fall and that's at the

[5:09] battle of armageddon

[5:11] you'll notice that the sickle is sharp

[5:13] which means that it will not fail to do

[5:15] its work

[5:15] thoroughly nothing will escape the

[5:18] judgment of god

[5:20] those upon the earth so we could also go

[5:22] to matthew 13

[5:24] and talk about the parables that are

[5:25] there that teach us this principle

[5:27] the parable of the tares and the wheat

[5:30] they grow up together but they first

[5:32] have to remove the tares

[5:34] and then the wheat is taken and put into

[5:37] the harvest

[5:38] barn and so that's going to happen

[5:39] during the millennial kingdom

[5:41] and so the tribulation period ends with

[5:44] the battle of armageddon

[5:45] the sharp sickle of god's judgment

[5:47] falling upon the earth for all those

[5:50] who have turned their back on god all

[5:52] those who have taken the mark of the

[5:54] beast in their hand or in their forehead

[5:56] all those who have followed after the

[5:58] antichrist will face

[6:00] the judgment of god i want you to notice

[6:03] here the two angels

[6:04] the two angels in verses 17 through 19.

[6:08] says another angel came out of the

[6:10] temple which is in heaven he

[6:11] also having a sharp sickle and another

[6:14] angel came out from the altar

[6:16] which had power over fire so these two

[6:19] angels come out

[6:20] one comes from the temple in heaven and

[6:22] has a sharp sickle to cut vines

[6:24] the other comes from the altar and it

[6:26] has to the power over fire which fuels

[6:29] god's wrath the second angel who seems

[6:32] to be

[6:33] in charge of this mission orders the

[6:35] angel with the sharp sickle

[6:37] to cast his sickle into the earth and

[6:39] cast the right clusters of grapes

[6:42] the peoples of the earth into the great

[6:45] winepress

[6:46] of god there they will be crushed to

[6:48] death

[6:49] under the fury of god's wrath now we've

[6:51] got multiple

[6:52] scripture references that talk about

[6:54] that joel chapter 3

[6:56] verses 11 through 16 revelation chapter

[6:59] 19 verses 11 through 21

[7:01] and ezekiel chapter 39 verses 8 through

[7:03] 16.

[7:05] jesus said in john 15 verse 1 i am the

[7:08] true

[7:08] vine which indicates the antichrist is

[7:11] the false

[7:12] vine those who serve the beast will

[7:14] suffer the winepress

[7:16] of god's wrath it's not without meaning

[7:18] that the fire angel comes out

[7:21] comes from out of the altar remember it

[7:24] was the altar

[7:25] in revelation 6 10 where those that were

[7:27] martyrs during the tribulation period

[7:29] cried out

[7:30] how long o lord holy and true dost thou

[7:34] not judge and avenge our blood of them

[7:36] that dwell upon the earth

[7:38] it is clear that this is the time that

[7:40] it will happen

[7:41] is the final destruction so

[7:44] the angel with the sickle the judgment

[7:47] of god

[7:48] the angel from the altar they're all

[7:50] bringing about this terrible

[7:53] wrath of god the battle of armageddon

[7:56] describes it here this terrible

[7:58] aftermath is found in verse number 20.

[8:02] this will be the worst slaughter of

[8:03] human life look at verse 20

[8:05] and the wine press was trotted without

[8:07] the city and blood came out of the wine

[8:09] press

[8:10] even under the horse's bridle by the

[8:12] space

[8:13] of a thousand and six furlongs now the

[8:16] average horse's bridle where you'd find

[8:18] the bridle is four

[8:19] to four and a half to five feet so

[8:22] that's pretty

[8:23] deep four and a half to five feet but

[8:26] the furlongs here will mention those in

[8:28] just a moment

[8:29] so the furlongs one furlong is equal to

[8:33] 729.6

[8:34] feet so if you add that all together you

[8:37] find it's 221

[8:39] miles 221 miles

[8:42] four and a half to five feet deep of

[8:44] blood

[8:46] in fact ezekiel describes this scene by

[8:49] relating that it'll take

[8:50] seven years to rid the earth of the

[8:52] weapons of the warfare that will be

[8:54] amassed by the nations

[8:55] and that seven months to bury the dead

[8:59] takes seven months to bury all those

[9:01] that die

[9:02] ezekiel 39 verses 8 through 16.

[9:06] so great this slaughter will be as i

[9:07] mentioned that for 221 miles

[9:10] five four and a half to five foot deep

[9:12] the blood will run

[9:14] this is the site of the bloody end of

[9:16] the nations will be at the valley of

[9:18] jehoshaphat

[9:19] in joel chapter 3 and zechariah 14 it

[9:21] tells us that

[9:23] all the great battles of the con of

[9:25] conquest will

[9:26] fade into insignificance when the

[9:29] conflict of the ages is fought

[9:31] at the battle of armageddon the sp they

[9:34] spurn the blood of jesus without

[9:36] the city and now in god's vengeance

[9:38] their blood will be spilled

[9:40] without the city it's amazing the

[9:43] judgment

[9:44] of god the wine press imagine the

[9:47] terminology used here was to help

[9:49] john to have a clear picture of how

[9:51] terrible it was

[9:52] john knowing that the wine presses

[9:54] they'd take the grapes they dump them in

[9:56] and people would stomp on the grapes

[9:59] and press out the grape juice and they

[10:01] would find that the

[10:03] splatter from the grape juice would get

[10:05] up onto their

[10:06] their robes that they were wearing up

[10:08] around their knees and their

[10:10] garments would be spotted by that

[10:12] eventually the wine press would happen

[10:14] to a point that the wine would be three

[10:17] to four

[10:18] four foot deep and then they'd drain it

[10:21] out and the

[10:22] juice would leave and the pulp would

[10:24] remain john uses the picture of the wine

[10:27] press of the wrath of god

[10:28] it's going to be awful for those during

[10:30] the battle of armageddon who've rejected

[10:32] god

[10:33] who's taken the mark of the beast but my

[10:35] friend you and i

[10:36] should be motivated to make sure that

[10:38] none of our family members none of our

[10:40] friends are there on that day

[10:42] now the only way that we can have an

[10:44] influence for them there

[10:45] not to be there that day is to share the

[10:47] gospel with them it ought to

[10:49] motivate you and i to plant the seed of

[10:52] the gospel in people's heart

[10:53] so that they might be saved and come

[10:55] into the knowledge of the truth so that

[10:57] they'll be harvested with us at the

[10:59] rapture time before the tribulation

[11:01] begins

[11:01] and not have to face the winepress of

[11:04] the wrath of god

[11:06] here in revelation 14 it's futuristic

[11:09] it's pointing to it gives us some

[11:12] powerful word pictures to describe

[11:15] the wrath of god and the battle of

[11:17] armageddon

[11:18] now we'll talk about it more in chapter

[11:20] 16 and chapter 19 when we get there

[11:23] but my friend if you've got an unsaved

[11:25] family member or an unsaved friend you

[11:28] ought to share the gospel with them

[11:30] you ought to invite them to church this

[11:31] coming sunday and see if they'll

[11:33] be at church with you on sunday where

[11:35] they can hear the gospel

[11:36] and be saved and come into the knowledge

[11:38] of the truth we would love for you and i

[11:41] to have no family members no family

[11:44] members that have to go through the

[11:45] tribulation period

[11:47] may all of our family members hear the

[11:49] gospel and be saved

[11:50] and not have to face the winepress of

[11:53] god's wrath

[11:54] my friend i hope today as we look at

[11:57] this passage that it reveals to you the

[11:59] importance

[12:00] of sharing the gospel i hope it reveals

[12:03] to you that god's judgment

[12:04] is coming that the world is getting

[12:07] overly riped with wickedness the

[12:10] tribulation

[12:11] could happen any moment after the

[12:14] rapture

[12:15] the next event on god's prophetic

[12:17] calendar is the rapture of the church

[12:19] and it could happen at any moment are

[12:22] you prepared

[12:23] to meet your lord if not you ought to

[12:26] get ready to do that
