[1:01] revelation chapter 13 but some other

[1:04] scriptures

[1:05] as well to help us understand what's

[1:08] going on

[1:53] the bible says and i this is talking

[1:55] about john

[1:57] stood upon the sand of the sea and saw a

[2:00] beast

[2:01] rise up out of the sea having seven

[2:04] heads

[2:05] and ten horns upon his horns

[2:08] ten crowns and upon his heads the name

[2:11] of blasphemy and the beast which i saw

[2:14] was likened to a leopard and his feet

[2:17] were

[2:18] as the feet of a bear and his mouth as

[2:21] the mouth of a lion

[2:23] and the dragon gave him his power and

[2:25] his seat

[2:26] and great authority now

[2:30] you may be reading those verses and

[2:32] going what was that

[2:34] can you read that again and we're going

[2:36] to dissect this

[2:38] portion of scripture here because there

[2:41] is this

[2:41] word phrase that we need to remember

[2:43] it's called a

[2:44] metaphor and a metaphor or a simile

[2:48] uses the words like or as so here in our

[2:52] text

[2:53] there are some metaphors that are

[2:56] important for us to

[2:57] understand to know what the bible's

[3:00] saying

[3:01] and so here it says in verse number one

[3:04] that john is standing upon the sand of

[3:06] the sea

[3:07] now some do believe that john may have

[3:10] perhaps been standing on

[3:11] the shore of the mediterranean sea

[3:14] dealing with scripture references

[3:16] because remember

[3:17] chapter 13 is all centered around the

[3:19] nation of israel

[3:21] this is not from the church's

[3:23] perspective

[3:24] this is from israel's perspective and so

[3:27] the sand of the sea

[3:28] now we don't know that for certain that

[3:31] he's standing on the sand of the

[3:33] mediterranean sea

[3:34] but we do know the description

[3:37] is describing someone coming out

[3:41] of the sea now the person who's coming

[3:43] out of the sea

[3:45] is the antichrist but i believe that we

[3:48] can see here and also all throughout

[3:51] scripture

[3:52] the sand of the sea references in

[3:54] scripture

[3:55] refer to humanity and

[3:59] a large group of people and so the sand

[4:02] of the sea

[4:03] we would say this way is the sea of

[4:05] humanity

[4:06] the beast but also we know him as the

[4:09] antichrist

[4:10] will rise up out of the population of

[4:13] the world

[4:14] that's important to understand that

[4:16] means he has not

[4:18] risen to power yet the precursor

[4:22] that happens before the antichrist is

[4:25] revealed

[4:26] is the rapture of the church so here at

[4:30] bible baptist

[4:31] because the bible teaches it we believe

[4:34] in a pre-tribulational

[4:36] rapture that means we'll be raptured out

[4:39] as believers

[4:41] after that time shortly after that time

[4:43] the antichrist will be revealed

[4:46] now the antichrist revelation of chapter

[4:49] 13

[4:51] is not how he's first going to come on

[4:53] the scene

[4:54] the chapter 13 reveals the wickedness

[4:57] the sight of him that's being influenced

[4:59] by satan

[5:01] but the first re revelation of the

[5:03] antichrist is

[5:04] peace and safety and is a

[5:07] figure that people will be drawn to but

[5:10] here at the midpoint of the tribulation

[5:13] period

[5:14] you're going to discover his true

[5:17] characteristics

[5:18] and that's going to be described for us

[5:20] in the following verses

[5:22] now the seven hedge ten horns ten crowns

[5:25] in the name of blasphemy

[5:27] we're gonna come back to that because i

[5:29] feel it's important to go to verse two

[5:32] to lay some groundwork so we can

[5:34] understand this

[5:35] latter part of verse 1. so in verse 2 it

[5:39] says

[5:39] and the beast which i saw was likened to

[5:42] a leopard

[5:44] and his feet were as the feet of a bear

[5:46] and his mouth as the mouth of a lion

[5:49] now those are metaphors that are

[5:52] symbolic

[5:52] pictures of characteristics

[5:56] and of kingdom characteristics now

[6:00] the beast that's rising out of the sea

[6:02] is a man

[6:04] but he's also a ruler and he's going to

[6:06] be a king

[6:07] and so that means that in order to have

[6:10] a king

[6:11] he has a kingdom so the beast

[6:14] has a human characteristic

[6:17] of a leader but also has a rulership

[6:21] a kingdom that he's ruling so we find

[6:25] here

[6:25] the leopard the bear and the lion now

[6:28] they have been found in scripture before

[6:31] you have heard me say this before the

[6:33] greatest commentary

[6:35] on scripture is scripture so daniel

[6:38] chapter number seven

[6:40] verses number one through eight daniel 7

[6:43] 1-8 the bible says in the first year of

[6:46] belshazzar king of babylon

[6:48] daniel had a dream and visions of his

[6:50] head upon

[6:52] his bed then he wrote the dream and told

[6:54] the sum of the matters

[6:56] daniel spake and said i saw in my vision

[6:58] by night

[6:59] and behold the four winds of heaven

[7:01] strove upon the great sea

[7:03] and four beasts came up out of the sea

[7:06] up from the sea diverse from one another

[7:09] the first was like a lion and had

[7:11] eagle's wings

[7:13] and i beheld still the wings thereof

[7:15] were plucked

[7:16] and was lifted up from the earth and

[7:18] made stand upon the feet

[7:20] as man and a man's heart was given to

[7:23] him

[7:24] and so that's the first part there the

[7:27] first beast

[7:28] was like a lion and in

[7:31] history we know that there's a

[7:34] kingdom that is referenced now

[7:38] in daniel chapter number two

[7:41] there is nebuchadnezzar's dream

[7:44] nebuchadnezzar has a dream and his dream

[7:48] he sees

[7:49] this statue and has a head of gold

[7:53] it has a body of

[7:56] silver it has hips

[7:59] likened to brass and the first part of

[8:01] legs like into brass

[8:03] and the last part of it is iron and then

[8:06] the

[8:06] has toes that are iron and clay

[8:09] mingled together and that's found in

[8:12] daniel chapter 2.

[8:14] and in daniel's dream or excuse me

[8:17] nebuchadnezzar's dream daniel interprets

[8:19] it

[8:20] in daniel chapter number 2 verses 36

[8:24] through 44. and in daniel 2 verse 36

[8:28] through 44

[8:29] he talks about the dream but in verse 38

[8:32] he says and wheresoever the children of

[8:34] men dwell

[8:35] the beast of the field and the thousand

[8:37] of heaven hath he given unto thine hand

[8:39] and hath made thee ruler over them all

[8:43] thou art this head of gold he's talking

[8:45] to nebuchadnezzar

[8:46] nebuchadnezzar was the head of gold

[8:50] now nebuchadnezzar was the head of gold

[8:54] but

[8:55] babylon represents the kingdom one of

[8:58] the first

[8:58] major kingdoms of rulership

[9:02] in biblical history is babylon

[9:06] now babylon was that golden image

[9:09] babylon

[9:10] is the lion here babylon's

[9:14] is that first one that lion and it says

[9:17] that the

[9:17] fetus of man and a man's heart was given

[9:20] to him is referencing nebuchadnezzar

[9:22] so during daniel's time the golden

[9:26] head from nebuchadnezzar's dream and

[9:29] then

[9:29] the lion in daniel chapter 7

[9:33] references babylon now babylon was a

[9:37] great power

[9:38] now you have to remember this

[9:39] nebuchadnezzar ruled and he thought he

[9:41] was the greatest thing as we would say

[9:43] since sliced bread

[9:45] but in nebuchadnezzar's case god

[9:48] gave him the power and god took away the

[9:50] power

[9:51] the second part of nebuchadnezzar's

[9:53] dream

[9:54] is this his arms of silver

[9:58] now the silver is the second great

[10:01] empire that's in daniel chapter 5.

[10:04] so in daniel's prophetic prophecies

[10:07] daniel chapter 5

[10:08] we find the medes and the persians come

[10:11] in

[10:12] they're that second great empire they're

[10:15] there now you'll notice

[10:16] here back in daniel chapter 7 i know

[10:19] we're going back and forth between

[10:21] chapters but daniel chapter 7 verse

[10:24] number 5

[10:25] daniel's vision from god he says there's

[10:28] another beast a

[10:29] second like a bear and it's raised up

[10:33] upon its

[10:34] one side and it had three ribs in the

[10:36] mouth of it

[10:37] between the teeth of it and thus it

[10:39] saith

[10:40] un to arise devour

[10:43] much flesh now talk more about that here

[10:45] in just a minute

[10:47] but that second beast is

[10:50] not only not the lion anymore but the

[10:53] second beast

[10:54] is the bear

[10:57] the bear now it talks about the

[11:01] description

[11:02] of the bear the bear having

[11:05] this desire to devour its prey

[11:08] now the medio persian army

[11:12] you'll find it's raised up on one side

[11:14] it said in the verse number five

[11:16] they would put so many soldiers to

[11:19] attack

[11:20] vast numbers of soldiers at the enemy in

[11:22] fact

[11:23] xerxes according to history expedition

[11:26] against greece was

[11:27] undertaken with 2.5

[11:30] million fighting men so a 2.5 million

[11:34] man army

[11:35] that devours much flesh it says that it

[11:39] devoured much flesh they killed many a

[11:42] people many of the soldiers

[11:44] but it also says it talks about the

[11:47] three ribs between the teeth of it

[11:49] suggests that this new world power had

[11:52] already devoured its prey

[11:54] conquering babylon and egypt and lydia

[11:58] now the bear is slower than the regal

[12:01] lion

[12:02] but it's eventually overpowered by

[12:05] the bear and so we find that in daniel

[12:09] 7 the second beast

[12:12] the bear here we find it in revelation

[12:16] 12

[12:17] the feet as the bear so this

[12:20] picture's given describing the lion

[12:24] and the bear the mouth of the lion

[12:26] babylon boasting himself to be prideful

[12:29] like nebuchadnezzar did

[12:31] the feet of a bear conquering quickly

[12:35] the third descriptor is the beast is the

[12:38] third beast in daniel chapter 7

[12:41] is verse 6 is like a leopard which had

[12:44] upon its back four wings of a foul

[12:47] the beast also had four heads and

[12:49] dominion were given to it

[12:50] so that third beast in daniel's vision

[12:54] which is the vision for the future

[12:57] of what has not happened daniel's

[13:00] prophesying in daniel 7

[13:02] of events that have not even happened

[13:04] yet people who have not even been born

[13:06] yet

[13:07] but that third beast is the lion devours

[13:11] the bear

[13:12] and then the leopard now the leopard is

[13:15] powerful

[13:16] swift and fierce the leopard represents

[13:20] the grecian empire now greece under

[13:23] alexandria the great

[13:24] overcame its enemies with swiftness

[13:27] unpreced unprecedented in warfare it

[13:31] also talks about

[13:32] that in daniel chapter 7 that it says

[13:35] that there were

[13:36] four heads given unto the beast

[13:40] that the beast there the leopard had

[13:42] four heads

[13:44] did you know that alexander the great

[13:46] divided his

[13:47] kingdom into four areas syria

[13:51] egypt macedonia and asia minor and four

[13:54] of his generals were appointed as

[13:56] heads and the empire continued until it

[13:59] was conquered

[14:00] by the romans and so we've got these

[14:04] three so far that we've looked at the

[14:07] leopard

[14:08] the bear the lion now daniel's looking

[14:12] forward daniel describes it lion

[14:16] bear leopard john's looking

[14:19] back into history and therefore he

[14:22] describes it

[14:23] leopard bear lion the characteristics of

[14:28] these

[14:28] kingdoms and their kings and how they

[14:31] operated are all encompassed

[14:35] in the beast that rises out of the sea

[14:38] the

[14:39] fierce and swiftness of greece and

[14:42] conquering is found in the antichrist

[14:46] when he

[14:46] becomes to power during the second

[14:49] time frame the finding of

[14:53] the bear and it's conquering and it's

[14:56] desiring to devour much flesh is

[14:59] revealed in the antichrist

[15:02] the desire of the lion the

[15:05] boastfulness of the antichrist how he

[15:08] feels that he is better than all is a

[15:11] characteristic

[15:12] so this lion leopard bear is

[15:16] characteristics

[15:17] of the antichrist now in daniel 7

[15:20] there's a fourth beast

[15:22] we find this he says after this i saw in

[15:24] the night visions behold a fourth beast

[15:27] dreadful terrible strong exceedingly

[15:30] had great iron teeth it devoured and

[15:33] break in pieces and stamped the residue

[15:36] with the feet of it and it was diverse

[15:38] from all the beasts that were before

[15:41] it and it had ten horns and i considered

[15:44] one of the horns behold there came up

[15:46] among them another little horn

[15:48] before whom there were three of the

[15:50] first horns plucked up by the roots

[15:52] behold in this horn were the eyes like

[15:55] of a man and a mouth speaking great

[15:57] things

[15:58] so there's this fourth beast he's not

[16:00] described as an

[16:01] animal but he is described as

[16:04] a dreadful terrible strong

[16:08] exceeding peace now in history we

[16:11] know that the fourth beast is the roman

[16:14] empire the fourth great empire depicted

[16:18] in the nebuchadnezzar's dream the legs

[16:22] of iron is no doubt in rome

[16:25] the two legs refer to the western and

[16:27] eastern parts of the roman empire

[16:30] and then there are ten toes of clay and

[16:33] iron

[16:34] these tones these toes i should say

[16:36] contain the same mineral as the legs

[16:39] plus plus an additional ingredient of

[16:41] clay

[16:42] and i'm going to explain that here in

[16:44] just a few moments

[16:46] so as we think about this beast the

[16:49] rising up out of the sea

[16:51] the antichrist these

[16:54] armies are depicted here

[16:58] and we've got a lot of discovery here

[17:01] so these armies the leopard the bear the

[17:03] lion

[17:04] the dragon being satan giving him his

[17:06] power it helps us to understand this

[17:08] important truth

[17:10] that the antichrist is a wicked and

[17:13] devouring of nations person now in the

[17:17] last days

[17:19] the rulers of this world are going to

[17:20] have beast-like actions

[17:23] it's going to be awful the descriptions

[17:25] of them

[17:26] and so the beasts here refer to the

[17:29] characteristics of the king

[17:31] and we know that the fourth beast has

[17:35] the iron

[17:36] teeth the legs of iron and the clay

[17:39] referred to the nations

[17:43] that are going to come against the

[17:45] nation of israel so let me

[17:47] wrap that section up so i can get back

[17:49] to verse number one

[17:51] the lion the bear the dragon

[17:54] the leopard here are all picturesque

[17:57] of the type of leadership that's going

[18:00] to be there

[18:01] now rome came to power and then

[18:05] is no longer in power but again during

[18:08] the tribulation period we will discover

[18:10] the revived roman

[18:12] empire will come to power that's

[18:14] prophesy

[18:15] now let me help you very quickly when

[18:17] daniel's prophecy

[18:19] he's looking forward and in his prophecy

[18:22] he sees the future coming of the messiah

[18:25] and god's plan

[18:26] jesus came as the messiah he had not

[18:29] come in daniel's day

[18:30] and he came as prophet priest and king

[18:33] however

[18:35] he did not rule his king yet he will

[18:38] rule his king

[18:39] but he has not yet so we the nation of

[18:42] israel and view

[18:43] of prophecy daniel in particular sees

[18:46] the mountaintops

[18:48] of the picture they see the first

[18:51] and second coming of jesus now there's a

[18:54] valley in between the

[18:56] mountains the valley in between is

[18:58] called the church age

[18:59] i put it this way the church was

[19:01] supernaturally injected into the

[19:03] timeline through jesus christ

[19:05] and the church will be supernaturally

[19:07] ejected out of the timeline

[19:10] at the rapture and then we'll continue

[19:12] with as you've been in this series note

[19:15] the 70th week

[19:16] of daniel so now we go back to

[19:19] these seven heads 10 horns 10 crowns

[19:23] and i'm going to talk about them and

[19:25] describe them

[19:26] to you now these 10

[19:29] feet in the daniel 2 are

[19:33] also described here with the 10

[19:37] heads or excuse me the 10 horns and

[19:40] there's seven heads

[19:41] and so i want to dive into that but i

[19:44] want to

[19:46] remind you that god's plan

[19:49] for scripture is clearly defined

[19:52] in scripture and so look if you would

[19:56] in revelation chapter 17.

[20:00] revelation chapter 17 verses 9 through

[20:03] 13

[20:04] revealed to us the information about

[20:08] verse number one the seven heads the ten

[20:11] horns

[20:12] and the ten crowns revelation 17 verse

[20:15] number nine

[20:16] and here is the mind which hath wisdom

[20:18] the seven heads

[20:20] are seven mountains on which the woman

[20:22] sitteth

[20:23] there are seven kings five are fallen

[20:27] one is and another is not yet come

[20:31] and when he cometh he must continue a

[20:34] short space

[20:35] and the beast that was and is not

[20:39] even he is the eighth and of the

[20:42] seven and goeth into perdition the ten

[20:45] horns which thou sawest are ten kings

[20:48] which have received no kingdom as yet

[20:50] but receive

[20:51] power as the king's one hour with a

[20:54] beast

[20:55] these have one mind and shall give their

[20:57] power and strength unto the beast

[20:59] so back to chapter 13 the seven heads

[21:04] refer to seven mountains now there's a

[21:06] city that sits on seven hills

[21:08] hopefully you know the name of it if you

[21:15] but the seven heads reference seven

[21:17] mountains and there's a city that's set

[21:19] on seven hills now the ten horns

[21:23] represent a ten

[21:26] league nation of kingdoms so these ten

[21:30] horns

[21:31] represent ten nations now these ten

[21:34] horns have also ten crowns so there's

[21:38] ten

[21:39] leaders that rise up these horns

[21:40] represent nations

[21:42] and leaders now remember we made this

[21:44] statement earlier

[21:45] in order to have a kingdom you got to

[21:47] have a king and so

[21:49] 10 leaders 10 leaders 10 kingdoms and 10

[21:52] kings

[21:53] so that's the 10 horns there now this

[21:56] league of next you say well how do you

[21:58] know it's ten kingdoms well back to

[21:59] revelation or excuse me daniel chapter

[22:02] the fourth beast has ten toes

[22:05] the roman empire here as we said was the

[22:08] fourth beast

[22:09] the final successor to rule the world is

[22:12] rome

[22:13] daniel saw no exact description of the

[22:15] beast

[22:16] other than it's dreadful terrible and

[22:18] strong

[22:19] now this beast has ten

[22:23] toes ten the number of completion number

[22:26] fullness number of judgment and kingdoms

[22:29] so

[22:30] we find 10 10 horns

[22:33] 10 toes all of these visions daniel 7

[22:37] revelation 17. how do you know it's ten

[22:40] kingdoms pastor

[22:41] it says so in the bible thou sellest ten

[22:45] kings which have not received

[22:47] a kingdom as yet so futuristic

[22:51] john's day daniel's day the 10

[22:54] kings had not been revealed so there's

[22:57] ten nations that'll come together

[22:59] and they'll back up the antichrist and

[23:01] the antichrist will rise up now next

[23:04] week we'll talk about

[23:05] a section in the life of the antichrist

[23:08] when he's in power

[23:09] that it says in verse number three that

[23:12] there is

[23:12] a wound and we'll talk about that next

[23:16] i know we've covered a lot of ground so

[23:18] let me wrap it up by saying this

[23:21] the antichrist is not a pleasant

[23:23] character he's going to

[23:24] rise up and like nations and kingdoms

[23:26] before his plan will be to destroy

[23:29] mankind

[23:30] but god is greater god raises rulers

[23:34] and then he takes them down the

[23:35] antichrist will rule and reign

[23:37] for a short period of time the daniel

[23:40] visions there's something exciting that

[23:42] happens in daniel chapter two

[23:43] a great stone rolls down and crushes the

[23:46] statue and everything breaks into pieces

[23:49] and when that happens

[23:50] that references jesus christ's return as

[23:53] he rules and reigns from jerusalem

[23:56] now the antichrist has limited power

[23:58] limited voice

[24:00] limited strength only because god allows

[24:03] it for a period of time but his
