[0:02] hour-long CBS Evening News on the
[0:04] showdown in the Gulf. With the air
[0:06] campaign now into its second day and
[0:09] unrelenting, a huge movement of US and
[0:12] other allied ground forces is underway
[0:15] tonight in the Saudi Arabian desert.

[1:14] Steve Tate just shot down his first
[1:16] plane.

[1:20] it. Uh, you know, it's unfortunate that
[1:23] it had to go this far that Saddam didn't
[1:25] realize uh that President Bush was
[1:27] serious about the whole thing. That's
[1:28] what's too bad.
[1:34] >> The opening shots were fired by the USS
[1:37] Wisconsin.
[1:38] >> In the first day of battle, the crew
[1:40] launched more than 100 cruise mi
