[0:08] and so we're looking forward to diving

[0:10] in today to revelation chapter 18

[0:12] verses 1 through 4. the bible says this

[0:15] and

[0:16] after these things i saw another angel

[0:19] come down from heaven

[0:21] having great power and the earth was

[0:23] lightened with his glory

[0:25] and he cried mightily with a strong

[0:27] voice saying babylon the great is

[0:30] fallen is fallen and has become the

[0:33] habitation of devils

[0:35] and the hold of every foul spirit and a

[0:38] cage of every

[0:39] unclean and hateful bird for all the

[0:42] nations have drunk of the wine of the

[0:44] wrath of her fornication

[0:46] and the kings of earth have committed

[0:48] fornication with her

[0:50] and the merchants of earth are waxed

[0:52] rich through the abundance of her

[0:54] delicacies

[0:55] and i heard another voice from heaven

[0:57] saying

[0:58] come out of her my people that ye be not

[1:01] partakers of her sins

[1:03] and that you receive not of her plagues

[1:07] as we dive into this section today we

[1:09] want to look at the announcement

[1:12] of judgment to mystery babylon

[1:15] the first thing we're gonna point out

[1:17] today is that first phrase and after

[1:19] these things

[1:20] signifying a time marker

[1:23] now chapter 17 and chapter 18 are

[1:26] parenthetical chapters

[1:28] so they're inserted into our text after

[1:30] we've already looked at

[1:32] other things that have will occur after

[1:35] these things so as we've mentioned in

[1:37] the past chapter

[1:38] 17 more than likely happens in the

[1:41] middle of the tribulation period

[1:43] chapter 18 is toward the end of the

[1:45] tribulation period

[1:47] so the time stamp here of after these

[1:50] things so

[1:51] the religious babylon the ecclesiastical

[1:54] babylon has fallen first

[1:56] and now we find that the political

[1:59] system babylon is falling now he says i

[2:03] saw another angel come down from heaven

[2:06] having great power and the earth was

[2:08] lightened with his glory

[2:10] so this angelic messenger first comes

[2:12] down

[2:13] he comes with great power and is so

[2:15] brilliant

[2:16] that the earth itself is illuminated by

[2:20] his life now some dispute whether this

[2:23] is jesus christ or not but i want you to

[2:26] look at verse four

[2:28] and this is how i came to my conclusion

[2:30] on this

[2:32] not being jesus christ look at verse

[2:34] four

[2:35] i've heard another voice from heaven

[2:37] saying come out of her

[2:39] my people now who's the one who's got

[2:41] people that would be jesus christ

[2:44] and so in verse four the voice from

[2:47] heaven so it's not the angel's voice

[2:50] it's in another location

[2:53] that voice calls out to the his people

[2:56] and so i see the transition there that

[2:59] it would not be

[3:00] the angel being jesus christ verse

[3:03] number 2

[3:04] says and he cried mightily with a strong

[3:07] voice saying

[3:08] babylon the great is fallen is fallen

[3:12] and then he talks about what it's become

[3:15] so we're going to call this the

[3:16] announcement

[3:17] this powerful angel pronounces judgment

[3:21] on the babylon here it seems the angel

[3:24] stutters when he says is fallen is

[3:26] fallen

[3:27] but it speaks about the twofold

[3:29] destruction that occurs

[3:31] in chapter 17 it fell ecclesiastically

[3:35] and all those involved in that religious

[3:37] system

[3:38] were hated by the nations in the land

[3:41] and if you watch

[3:41] last week's video you'll understand that

[3:44] as well

[3:45] but now it falls again it's a twofold

[3:48] destruction so

[3:49] the twice repeated fallen fallen means

[3:53] two distinct faults

[3:54] but also this place whether it's rome or

[3:58] babylon or new york city becomes a house

[4:01] of devils

[4:03] and while men say that catholicism is

[4:06] the true

[4:07] church it's not filled with the holy

[4:09] spirit

[4:10] it is filled instead with every foul

[4:13] spirit there are many foul spirits

[4:17] the spirit of the world

[4:20] this which is found in first corinthians

[4:23] 2 12

[4:24] the spirit that now worketh in the

[4:25] children of disobedience in ephesians 2

[4:28] 2 the spirit of air in 1st john 4

[4:31] 6 the spirit of bondage in romans 8 15

[4:35] and the spirit of man in 1st corinthians

[4:38] 2 11

[4:39] we are told not to believe every spirit

[4:41] but to try the spirits

[4:43] to whether they be of god for many false

[4:46] prophets are gone out into the world in

[4:48] first john 4

[4:48] 1 in fact if you were with us in church

[4:51] last wednes

[4:52] two wednesday nights ago we preached out

[4:54] of that very text

[4:56] now note that birds are used to describe

[4:59] these demons it says in verse three

[5:01] verse two

[5:02] it's the habitation of devils the hold

[5:05] of every foul spirit

[5:06] and the cage of every unclean and

[5:10] hateful birds

[5:11] now birds are used symbolically of satan

[5:14] matthew chapter 14

[5:16] verses 4 and verse number 19 references

[5:19] that mark 4

[5:20] 15 and luke 8 12.

[5:23] now this place is full of satanic

[5:27] activity which god hates so remember

[5:30] what were happening here this babylon is

[5:33] the political system babylon

[5:35] and as we mentioned last week not only

[5:37] is it a system but this system has a

[5:40] headquarters

[5:41] there is a location where it's

[5:43] headquartered

[5:44] some believe it to be rome some believe

[5:46] it to be babylon restored

[5:48] some believe it to be another city

[5:50] possibly new york city some

[5:52] even teach that it could be jerusalem

[5:54] i'm not for certain but i do know there

[5:56] will be a headquarters

[5:57] there now the announcement cries out the

[6:02] is fallen has fallen and here's the

[6:04] analysis in verse 3.

[6:06] for all nations have drunk of the wine

[6:08] of the wrath of her fornication

[6:10] and kings of the earth have committed

[6:12] fornication with her

[6:14] merchants of the earth are waxed rich to

[6:15] the abundance of

[6:17] her delicacies and as we look at this

[6:20] in addition to what was already said the

[6:22] twice

[6:23] is fallen is fallen makes this judgment

[6:27] severe now the writer the penman of the

[6:30] book of revelation is john the beloved

[6:33] now john who wrote this was the only

[6:35] gospel writer

[6:37] who would use the term verily verily

[6:40] when describing the importance of a

[6:42] situation for instance john 3

[6:44] and verse 3 and verse 5. in fact did you

[6:47] know that john used that term

[6:50] 25 times in the gospel of john alone

[6:54] could it be that the double use of is

[6:56] fallen is fallen

[6:58] represents the severity

[7:01] of white has fallen why is babylon

[7:04] judged

[7:05] well we're going to look at a few things

[7:06] here this morning of why this city

[7:09] is judged in this system number one

[7:12] because of her

[7:12] iniquities in verse 5 it talks about

[7:15] that

[7:16] it also through the though the tower of

[7:19] babel

[7:20] never did reach heaven the sins of the

[7:24] people did

[7:25] the word reach indicates that her sins

[7:28] were being

[7:29] piled onto each other until they were

[7:32] piled so

[7:33] high that the re they reached heaven

[7:36] so the iniquities of babylon the sin of

[7:38] the land

[7:40] there's there's three phrases in verse

[7:42] number two

[7:44] that we want to look at number one it

[7:47] has become the

[7:48] habitation of devils that literally

[7:51] means it became the home of devils so

[7:54] during this time

[7:55] after the fall of babylon or during even

[7:58] the time that babylon is

[7:59] in power demonic forces are residing

[8:03] there

[8:04] it also is the hold of

[8:07] every foul spirit

[8:10] the hold of it so every foul spirit

[8:13] f-o-u-l

[8:15] spirit every foul spirit is

[8:18] headquartered in this mystery babylon

[8:22] every spirit that hates the

[8:25] israelites during this time the jewish

[8:27] people every spirit that hates the

[8:29] tribulation

[8:30] saints during this period every spirit

[8:33] that comes out of

[8:34] hatred and anger and violence is

[8:37] headquartered in mystery babylon thirdly

[8:40] it's the cage of

[8:41] every unclean and hateful

[8:44] bird that's this city

[8:48] how awful it is now

[8:51] it's become that it's an awful place

[8:55] there's wickedness and evil and violence

[8:58] there in fact in verse 24 of this

[9:00] chapter

[9:01] it even mentions that was found in her

[9:04] the blood of prophets and saints they

[9:06] martyred people in the streets

[9:09] of this headquartered city so because of

[9:13] her iniquities

[9:14] she's judged because of her influence in

[9:17] verse 3 the city and the system of

[9:19] babylon

[9:20] epitomizes the life of a godless world

[9:24] look what it says in verse 3 all nations

[9:25] have drunk of the wine of the wrath of

[9:27] her fornication

[9:29] the kings of the earth have committed

[9:30] fornication with her the merchants of

[9:33] the earth are waxed rich

[9:34] through the abundance of her delicacies

[9:37] in the end time babylon will be the

[9:39] center of social political cultural and

[9:42] commercial life in this world

[9:45] many will fall into the trap of this

[9:47] system

[9:48] and it will have a stranglehold on the

[9:51] world

[9:52] this city will be built on merchandising

[9:55] and materialism and

[9:57] humanism the city's influence will cover

[10:00] the whole world

[10:01] all nations will be drunk with the wine

[10:05] of her fornication

[10:06] this influence is with us even today

[10:08] james 5 1-5

[10:10] says go to now ye rich men weep and how

[10:14] for your misery shall come upon you your

[10:16] riches are corrupted

[10:18] and your garments are moth eaten your

[10:21] gold and your silver is cankered

[10:23] and the rest of them shall be a witness

[10:25] against you and shall eat your flesh as

[10:28] it were

[10:28] fire ye have heaped treasure together

[10:31] for the last days

[10:32] behold the hire of the laborers who have

[10:35] reaped down your fields

[10:37] which is of you kept back by fraud

[10:39] crieth and the cries of them which have

[10:41] reaped

[10:42] are entered into the ears of the lord of

[10:44] the sabbath ye have lived in pleasure on

[10:47] the earth and been wanted

[10:49] ye have nourished your hearts as in a

[10:52] day of slaughter

[10:54] materialism in this world is rampant

[10:58] it's the i've gotta have it i gotta be

[11:00] better than the joneses and the

[11:02] humanistic i don't need god view of this

[11:06] world

[11:07] because of her influence because of her

[11:09] infidelity in verse seven

[11:11] we see she has how much she has

[11:13] glorified herself

[11:15] and lived deliciously so much torment

[11:18] and sorrow

[11:19] give her for she's safe in her heart i

[11:22] sit a queen and am no widow

[11:26] and shall see no sorrow she has traded

[11:30] her god in heaven for the god on the

[11:32] earth

[11:33] notice her pride in verse seven they

[11:36] seem to say

[11:37] we don't need god she glorified herself

[11:41] that is infidelity who alone is worthy

[11:44] of glory

[11:45] only god but man

[11:48] now man takes it for himself

[11:52] not only because of her infidelity but

[11:54] also because of her inhumanity verse 12

[11:57] the merchandise of gold and silver and

[11:59] precious stones

[12:00] and of pearls and fine linen and purple

[12:03] and silk and scarlet

[12:05] and all fine wood and all manner of

[12:07] vessels of ivory and

[12:09] all manner of vessels of most precious

[12:11] woods and of brass and iron and marble

[12:14] and cinnamon and odors and ointments and

[12:16] frankincense and wine and oil and fine

[12:19] flour

[12:19] and wheat and beast and sheep and horse

[12:22] and chariots and slaves and the

[12:24] souls of men now we're told about 28

[12:28] different items of

[12:29] merchandise now no none of these things

[12:32] are

[12:33] necessities they're all luxuries let's

[12:35] look at them

[12:37] earthly treasures gold silver precious

[12:39] stones come first

[12:41] these are the earthly treasures which

[12:42] have first place in the hearts of

[12:44] men this hasn't changed very much

[12:49] secondly then comes the things that are

[12:51] for show or personal

[12:52] adornment which are pearls and fine

[12:54] linen and purple and silk and scarlet

[12:58] then come the choice articles of rare

[13:00] and precious wood

[13:01] metal stone and ivory then comes the

[13:04] perfumes and the other luxuries for

[13:07] eating that speak of the sensuousness of

[13:09] modern living

[13:11] then comes the more substantial

[13:13] commodities including horses and

[13:15] chariots

[13:17] finally the slaves and the souls of men

[13:21] the slave trade will return and the

[13:23] souls of men will be of

[13:25] little value like nazism and communism

[13:28] which care little from men's souls

[13:30] man is nothing more than a commodity

[13:34] something to own or sell it all started

[13:36] when this humanistic society

[13:39] said that god did not create mankind

[13:42] and that man became who he was through

[13:44] the evolutionary process

[13:48] man becomes somebody who does not care

[13:51] about the lives of men

[13:54] this is seen in abortion

[13:57] euthanasia infant side etc what is

[14:02] pornography

[14:03] but the selling of sex doesn't this fit

[14:07] into the scope of their thinking

[14:10] that man is nothing

[14:14] but that's not what the bible teaches

[14:16] then thank god for those who believe in

[14:18] creationism

[14:20] for they look at the world as being

[14:22] created by god in

[14:24] every human being being created by god

[14:26] and

[14:27] man has value and they have a worth

[14:30] to their soul and it's important in the

[14:32] eyes of god it should be important in

[14:34] you and eyes eyes

[14:37] you'll notice in verse 4 he heard

[14:39] another voice from heaven

[14:40] saying come out of her my people

[14:44] my people that cry comes out

[14:47] near the end of the tribulation period

[14:50] there's going to be tribulation saints

[14:52] and believing israel is going to be

[14:54] located

[14:55] possibly even in that city

[14:58] hiding and god calls them to

[15:02] come out to flee so they don't suffer

[15:06] under the judgment of babylon

[15:08] and the destruction of mystery babylon

[15:12] my friend as we look at this section of

[15:14] verses

[15:15] the world's political system the world's

[15:18] humanistic

[15:19] system the world's economic system

[15:23] is based on man's desires

[15:26] alone we have left out god

[15:30] and during the tribulation period it

[15:32] will come to a climax

[15:34] near the end of the tribulation period

[15:37] it will be the most

[15:38] awful humanistic viewed time

[15:41] of course if you underline the and look

[15:44] into

[15:44] the humanistic view you'll find the

[15:47] teaching of satan

[15:50] that questions god

[15:53] ever since the book of genesis and the

[15:55] creation of the world

[15:56] satan's been trying to get man to say

[15:58] yea hath god

[16:00] said to question

[16:03] who we are and who god is

[16:07] during the tribulation period the

[16:09] political system that is babylon that's

[16:12] headquartered

[16:13] in a certain city will fall and be

[16:15] destroyed

[16:16] it'll be over but my friend

[16:22] you're a believer in jesus christ today

[16:24] you're going to be raptured out

[16:26] before the tribulation period begins

[16:30] but i want to caution you today you may

[16:33] suffer tribulation

[16:35] but it won't be the great tribulation

[16:37] period

[16:38] the church today is under attack the

[16:41] things of god are

[16:43] under attack in this world you and i

[16:46] must make the decision

[16:47] to keep god first and foremost

[16:50] in our personal lives and allow god's

[16:54] word to speak

[16:55] truth even though they who would not

[16:58] hear truth

[17:00] the bible says it this way they have

[17:02] heaped to themselves teachers having

[17:04] itching ears whatever the people

[17:08] want to hear god's word is true and in

[17:11] the end god wins

[17:13] and this world and satan will be

[17:15] destroyed

[17:16] i'm looking forward to getting into the

[17:18] future chapters

[17:19] where we get to see satan is bound and

[17:22] cast

[17:23] into the lake of fire i look forward to

[17:25] what's going to happen
