[0:00] From around the world,
[0:04] from around the world and from CBS News
[0:07] in Washington, this is the CBS Evening
[0:10] News with Dan Rather.
[0:12] >> Good evening. Iran's surprise air raid
[0:15] on Kuwait's oil fields has given
[0:17] President Reagan new hope that he may
[0:19] yet get Congress to approve the sale of
[0:21] Awax radar planes to Saudi Arabia.
[0:24] Following Iran's overnight aerial strike
[0:26] into Kuwait, Mr. Reagan this morning
[0:28] formally notified Congress he plans to

[1:04] Israel by any US president, suggesting
[1:06] that Israel is unduly interfering in the
[1:08] development of US foreign policy.
[1:11] >> It is not the business of other nations
[1:13] to make American foreign policy. What
[1:16] really is the most serious thing is a
[1:18] perception that other countries must not
[1:21] get a perception that we are being
[1:23] unduly influenced uh one way or the
[1:26] other with regard to foreign policy. Can
[1:28] you now guarantee the Congress and the
[1:30] people of the United States that the
