[0:00] sometimes uh I see some parents who who
[0:02] do stay at home who just go to all these
[0:03] events and I I kind of feel bad I kind
[0:05] of feel guilty that I'm not part of all
[0:07] this sometimes your kids are like hey
[0:09] why didn't you come to my my thing like
[0:11] how how do you manage expectations I
[0:13] feel like we parent some guils and so I
[0:15] have this no regrets and model of
[0:17] parenting which is you know if you
[0:19] didn't spend enough time you miss
[0:20] something like how do you double down
[0:21] the next time and spend more time how do
[0:23] you you know make it up and sometimes I
[0:25] tell the kids hey look I'm traveling
[0:26] that week I can't do X but Dad will be
[0:28] there do I wish I didn't have to say
[0:30] that I wish these things didn't happen
[0:33] but at the same time that's the reality
[0:34] and say you know one of us tries to be
[0:36] available at all times like when the
[0:38] kids were young I rarely ever traveled
[0:40] but you know when they got a little
[0:41] older and I freed up my schedule a
[0:43] little bit more I was able to travel a
[0:44] little bit more for work but that also
[0:46] me some confidence and so you know we
[0:48] make choices and I don't want us to
[0:50] spend our time looking backwards I want
[0:51] us to spend our time looking forward to
[0:53] what's next for our relationship okay
[0:55] welcome everyone my guest today is Deb
[0:56] blue Deb is the CE of ancestry and

[1:01] today I'm really excited to talk to Deb
[1:03] about a more personal topic how to
[1:06] survive and thrive as a working parent
[1:08] and have good relationships with your
[1:09] spouse your own elderly parents and also
[1:12] your kids
