[18:33] he I know after I retired from

[18:37] pastoring I uh I struggled for a little

[18:41] while a lot of things that were supposed

[18:43] to be

[18:44] weren't you know and I had to get

[18:47] victory over that well I I'm glad I did

[18:50] because I determined in my mind that I

[18:52] wanted to finish my course with

[18:54] joy you know we need to have some Joy

[18:58] about this whole business of

[19:00] serving the lord you know and so ladies

[19:04] I don't I don't know how to say it again

[19:06] just marvelous I it ministered to my

[19:09] heart thank you so very much 2

[19:12] Corinthians chapter 8 again tonight I'm

[19:14] just going to read a couple of verses

[19:15] there and then we'll look at uh several

[19:18] verses out of chapter

[19:21] nine and

[19:23] uh so if you are able to stand please if

[19:27] you would uh

[19:29] just stand with me for a few verses of

[19:32] scripture

[19:37] here I want to begin reading there in uh

[19:41] verse number one if you found it would

[19:42] you say amen amen all right let's just

[19:45] look there at verse number one moreover

[19:48] brethren we do you to

[19:51] wit of the grace of

[19:54] God bestowed on the churches of

[19:57] Macedonia

[19:59] how that in a great trial of

[20:02] Affliction the abundance of their joy

[20:06] and their deep poverty abounded Under

[20:09] The Riches of their

[20:11] liberality for to their power listen now

[20:16] I bear record yay and beyond their power

[20:22] they were willing of themselves let's

[20:25] pray together father we come to you

[20:27] tonight

[20:28] Lord we thank you for who you

[20:32] are and what you are what you do in our

[20:36] lives and we thank you for the privilege

[20:40] of coming to the throne of grace knowing

[20:44] that we are but Sinners saved by grace

[20:47] but we have access through your blood

[20:49] and we're thankful for the blood of

[20:51] Jesus Christ that cleanse us from all

[20:54] sin we come tonight asking that once

[20:57] more you'd meet with us that you would

[21:01] anoint the time of preaching that it

[21:03] might be your word and that it might

[21:06] find a place to settle in the hearts of

[21:10] your people tonight and Lord we want to

[21:12] give you all the praise and all the

[21:14] honor and all the glory for whatever's

[21:17] accomplished here and we ask it in Jesus

[21:19] name amen thank you you may uh be seated

[21:23] so if you were here last night we looked

[21:26] at uh how uh Paul was challenging the

[21:31] Corinthian Church uh who as I said last

[21:34] night uh had a reputation of carnality

[21:38] but according to verse number seven uh

[21:40] of our text was beginning to show signs

[21:44] of spiritual growth in fact the the

[21:47] Bible says as they were abounding in

[21:50] everything and then it list some things

[21:51] they uh were abounding in and and talks

[21:55] about how they were growing and then he

[21:57] says but I want you to to grow in this

[22:00] Grace also and that of course is the

[22:03] grace of giving and we make no apology

[22:06] tonight that in order to get

[22:08] missionaries on the field churches have

[22:10] to give amen we have to help and send

[22:12] them and that's what a mission

[22:14] conference is about it's about number

[22:16] one letting you know what God's

[22:18] commission is number two getting you

[22:20] involved everywhere you can be involved

[22:23] and then where you cannot be involved

[22:25] helping us to be able to send others

[22:28] that are willing uh to be involved and

[22:30] last night we looked at how uh in this

[22:34] uh uh giving beyond their power they

[22:36] were number one willing of themselves

[22:39] remember that last night and then number

[22:41] two uh they were growing in Grace uh

[22:45] when you're growing in Grace listen to

[22:47] me you will not grown in

[22:51] disgrace when you become stagnant

[22:54] spiritually everything in the world can

[22:56] happen in your life but they were

[22:57] growing and prise good time for them to

[23:01] be challenged with this concept of

[23:04] giving sacrificially and then thirdly

[23:07] they acknowledged the sacrifice of

[23:10] Christ in other words they they realized

[23:12] that what Jesus had done for them do you

[23:15] hear what I'm saying tonight we can

[23:17] never pay him back for amen we could

[23:19] never never outgive uh the Lord so that

[23:24] being true he challenges the church at

[23:26] Corinth to do two things here notice in

[23:29] verse number eight the first one he says

[23:32] this came by occasion of the forwardness

[23:35] of others and to prove the sincerity of

[23:40] your love and so the first thing here is

[23:43] he's saying I want you uh to prove that

[23:46] you sincerely love me if you do giving

[23:49] is not a hard problem it really is not

[23:52] and then the second thing he says in

[23:54] verse 10 that he said uh what you have

[23:58] begun before not only to do that but

[24:01] also to be forward a year ago uh I

[24:04] pastored for 44 years and I I I remember

[24:09] uh the first time we had a big mission

[24:11] conference and somebody said what is

[24:13] your goal well it was the first mission

[24:15] conference I had been able to lead our

[24:18] church there in Tampa uh to do and so

[24:21] they didn't even understand Faith

[24:23] promise so my first uh Mission

[24:25] conference was to get them to understand

[24:27] what faith promise missions was all

[24:30] about so I explained that and then to

[24:33] get our people to start somewhere to

[24:36] begin somewhere and he says here so

[24:39] wherever you begun what you were doing

[24:41] last year to be forward that this year

[24:44] so I never ever set goals I some

[24:46] Churches do and I there's no problem

[24:48] with that uh to each his own as the

[24:50] pastor leads them but uh for me uh I

[24:54] just said to our people here's what I

[24:56] want us to do every year I I want you to

[24:58] allow God to help you to give more than

[25:01] you gave last year amen to stretch your

[25:04] faith to help you uh each year and

[25:07] sometimes it may be true uh that God

[25:09] won't have you give more than you gave

[25:11] last year but our faith ought to be

[25:13] increased from time to time amen and so

[25:16] he challenges them prove your love and

[25:19] then give uh beyond what you did a year

[25:22] ago now tonight I want us to move on in

[25:25] the chapter and I want to look at uh

[25:27] between chap chapter 8 and verse

[25:30] 14 and chapter n uh I want to look at

[25:34] four principles of giving beyond your

[25:39] power four biblical principles that are

[25:41] right here in the text that if we follow

[25:44] them will help us to give uh beyond our

[25:49] power the first of those principles is

[25:52] found in chapter 8 beginning actually

[25:54] there in verse 13 He said for I mean not

[25:58] that other men be eased and ye burdened

[26:03] but by an equality that now at this time

[26:07] your abundance may be a supply for their

[26:10] want that their abundance Also may be a

[26:14] a supply for your want that there may be

[26:19] an equality or be equality so he's

[26:22] saying here I don't want anybody uh to

[26:26] have to give more because someone gives

[26:30] Less in other words what he's saying

[26:32] here in our text is that no one should

[26:35] be ease to the point that it places

[26:39] additional burden on somebody else now

[26:42] let me let me just talk about this aren

[26:44] aren't we thankful uh I I think we are

[26:48] for the ties and the offerings that come

[26:50] in we're thankful for that you're

[26:52] sitting in a building tonight because

[26:54] ties and offerings come in amen and so

[26:57] we're we're grateful for that but you

[26:59] know it always troubled me as a pastor

[27:02] how many people are willing to come into

[27:05] the house of God and let others carry

[27:09] the load carry the burden of the church

[27:13] carry uh the finances of the church and

[27:16] they will enjoy all the benefits without

[27:19] being equally involved in the work uh of

[27:23] the Lord and I want to say to you

[27:24] tonight that when we talk about giving

[27:28] it's a it's a no-brainer it's a given

[27:31] that we start at the place of tithing

[27:33] I'm not going to go back over that

[27:34] tonight we we talked about that last

[27:36] night it was before the law was during

[27:39] the law Jesus endorsed it Matthew

[27:42] 23:23 after the law and so tithing is

[27:45] that beginning place and thank God for

[27:48] the tithe because that's how there is

[27:51] Supply in the house of God Amen that's

[27:55] what takes care of Bible Baptist Church

[27:58] amen the tithes that come in and then uh

[28:01] the these special offerings here in 2

[28:04] Corinthians 8 were for the purpose of

[28:07] ministering to the Saints and those

[28:10] Saints are clearly uh included the

[28:13] Apostle Paul who was doing his

[28:16] missionary work I'm not going to take

[28:18] time to read it but I'll give you the

[28:19] verses if you'll look at 2 Corinthians

[28:22] chapter

[28:24] 9 verses 12 and

[28:26] 13 and then and in fact write that one

[28:29] down and then write down 2 Corinthians

[28:32] 11 and verse 9 and and I will go there

[28:35] and read that if you have your Bibles

[28:36] open there 2 Corinthians chap 11 and

[28:40] verse 9 and when I was present with you

[28:44] and wanted I was chargeable to no man

[28:48] for that which was lacking to me the

[28:50] Brethren which came from Macedonia

[28:53] supplied he's talking about the

[28:55] Macedonian offerings that he's asking

[28:58] the church at Corinth to mimic to be lik

[29:02] to allow the grace of God uh to work in

[29:06] their life and in all things he says I

[29:09] have kept myself from being burdensome

[29:12] unto you and so will I keep myself as

[29:16] the truth of Christ is in me no man

[29:19] shall stop me of this boasting in the

[29:22] regions of AI so he says I'm out dooing

[29:26] the work of God and thank y the churches

[29:29] of Macedonia that I'm asking you to take

[29:32] a look at and acknowledge the grace of

[29:35] God that worked in their life they were

[29:37] supplying needs that I had that should

[29:41] have been done by the other church and

[29:43] so he's asking them take on this same

[29:46] burden he's saying Titus has been sent

[29:49] to you that you might excel in all of

[29:52] these areas but also in the grace of

[29:56] giving and he says every one of you

[29:59] needs to be a part of that every

[30:02] believer is expected to be faithful in

[30:05] their giving now listen I I know we

[30:07] don't live under the Old Testament but

[30:09] the principle stands in in the Book of

[30:11] Malachi look up here to cement in the

[30:13] Book of Malachi he says wherein have you

[30:16] robbed me he says you've robbed me in

[30:20] tithes and what and offerings so listen

[30:24] it's very important for us to understand

[30:27] tonight that we can rob God's uh uh

[30:30] offerings from him and still be thieving

[30:33] from God because God expects us to give

[30:37] where he impresses us to give now I know

[30:39] this when God lays it on my heart to

[30:42] give an offering I've learn to say yes

[30:45] Lord yes Lord I I tell you uh I don't uh

[30:50] so we my wife and I be married uh uh 58

[30:54] years here in just a short while and and

[30:58] uh I've never carried cash that's okay

[31:01] if you want to carry cash I I just I

[31:03] don't need anything I rarely you know I

[31:06] have a credit card for to get a rental

[31:09] card or an airplane ticket or whatever I

[31:12] need and if I use it I pay it off in 30

[31:14] days that's how I handle it and so if I

[31:17] need something to eat I'll use that but

[31:19] uh but I never so my wife

[31:22] recently insisted that uh I I was going

[31:26] on this trip alone because she was

[31:28] staying back to help some family and so

[31:31] it's like a three- week trip and she

[31:33] didn't like me being gone by myself you

[31:35] know I'm 75 I have heart disease I've

[31:38] had two heart attacks and got a sent in

[31:40] my right coronary and one in my pad and

[31:44] and so she doesn't like me to go alone

[31:46] and and she says and and you need to

[31:49] take some money with you and I said

[31:50] honey I have a credit card what do I

[31:51] need cash for and she said well you'll

[31:54] never know and so she made me take a

[31:57] $100 bill and I stuck it you know in the

[32:01] crease of my my wallet and and I carried

[32:04] it for a whole trip and I was in a

[32:08] mission conference here uh two weeks ago

[32:11] and uh a little boy I I won't mention

[32:14] names a little boy from the church one

[32:16] of the uh pastoral family said to me uh

[32:20] hey can I ride with you I told them I'd

[32:22] take all your kids out to brms and buy

[32:25] ice cream for them after church I I like

[32:28] to do that with the preacher's family

[32:30] and have love on them time you know and

[32:33] so I I I said yeah you can ride with me

[32:36] come on so he gets in the car and he

[32:38] begins to tell me he begins to tell me

[32:42] this story I'm going with my dad to

[32:46] Brazil he said I've surrendered to

[32:49] missions this is going to be my first

[32:51] mission trip and he is just so excited

[32:55] and he said Dad's told me I got to pay

[32:57] my

[32:58] away and he said brother Turner that's

[33:01] going to be a lot of yards to mow this

[33:04] summer and I said well I said how do you

[33:07] feel about that he said well he said I

[33:10] heard your message last night that if we

[33:12] do the right thing God Will Supply

[33:15] that's what faith promise is he said I

[33:17] made a commitment last night from my

[33:19] lawn mowing and he said God's going to

[33:22] have to supply it brother Turner or I'm

[33:24] going to be in trouble and I said God

[33:27] Will Supply it and I said God will take

[33:30] care of your commitment and as I I was

[33:34] uh driving on over there the Lord

[33:36] started whispering to me you ever have

[33:38] the Lord whisper to you in your heart

[33:40] and he was saying you know that $100

[33:42] bill you got in your

[33:43] billfold that your wife sent with you

[33:46] that you didn't think you need well the

[33:48] reason you need that is you're going to

[33:50] give that to that little boy I pulled

[33:52] that $100 bill out I didn't give it to

[33:54] him I gave it to Dad I I I didn't want

[33:58] it to get lost uh or used at the soda

[34:01] fountain amen so I gave it to Dad I said

[34:04] don't even tell him that you get home

[34:06] and Dad called me later and said he was

[34:08] amazed he said Dad brother Turner gave

[34:11] that to me yes and you took

[34:14] it and he said yeah I took it you want

[34:17] to get there don't you he said I do and

[34:20] so the little boy was so excited oh God

[34:23] prompted my heart to give that offering

[34:25] now here's what I believe I can't give

[34:27] you an exact verse for this and so you

[34:30] take it or you can leave it but this is

[34:32] what I believe okay I believe when God

[34:35] prompts you about something like that

[34:37] and you disobey you're robbing from God

[34:41] I believe you're robbing from God

[34:43] because God does prompt us to give you

[34:46] know uh in I know this is such a

[34:50] spiritual crowd do any of you ever have

[34:53] problems just reading your Bible enough

[35:00] huh I I struggle sometimes I'm driven I

[35:04] I land on my feet around 5:30 in the

[35:06] morning uh or if my wife gets up at 4:00

[35:09] I get up right after that because she's

[35:10] banging and clanging anyhow so so I I

[35:14] get up pretty early and I have brain

[35:18] fog I I just do it some people my wife

[35:22] gets up the minute I get up after her

[35:24] she'll say uh I did the Bills last night

[35:26] we're going to need this

[35:30] and I said shut

[35:32] up are you kidding me woman I'm not even

[35:40] awake she always brings me a coffee I by

[35:43] the way this is a lesson for you

[35:45] husband's wife I've never asked my wife

[35:46] to bring me

[35:48] anything she does it because we have a

[35:50] reciprocal

[35:52] relationship and it'll be sitting there

[35:54] and I'll say at least let me drink this

[35:56] cup of coffee

[35:59] but I want to tell you

[36:01] something we've learned to talk together

[36:05] and trust God together and when God

[36:07] prompts us to do something to act upon

[36:10] it amen and that's what the the holy

[36:14] spirit is trying to do in the lives of

[36:16] these Believers here to help them

[36:18] understand that when you do the right

[36:21] thing God's grace will interfere amen

[36:24] and he said so every one of you need to

[40:25] there are many who are not engaged

[40:27] engaged in getting our missionaries to

[40:41] verse 15 as it is written he that had

[40:44] gathered much had nothing over and he

[41:12] verse tells us that there were two kinds

[41:18] gathered much and had nothing over let

[41:20] me let me illustrate that from scripture

[41:23] do you remember the rich farmer do you

[41:27] remember him when he said oh

[41:30] my we got to tear down the old barns it

[41:33] reminds me of the Amish in our area

[41:35] every time I go by they're building a

[41:37] new barn I don't know where they get all

[41:39] the money and what they're putting in it

[41:41] but anyhow they got it and and he said

[41:44] we're going to tear down the old barn

[41:46] because we have so much and we're going

[41:48] to fill up the new barn and he thought

[41:51] that was a good plan but here's what the

[41:53] Bible tells us he did not count on the

[41:56] fact that that night God would require

[42:00] his soul of him and then everything he

[42:03] had collected would not be his but would

[42:06] belong to others

[42:21] but they never have a lack turn your

[47:37] get so I live in farm country we're

[47:40] seven miles out of downtown metropolitan

[47:44] area of hagertown Indiana population

[47:48] 1200 and we're 7even miles out of town

[47:51] in the country Amish farms mostly around

[47:54] us but some really big

[47:57] uh farmers in that area traditional

[48:02] farmers and uh there's one farmer not

[48:06] far from us that has right off the road

[48:08] close to my house uh about a 100 acres

[48:11] just sitting there he has thousands of

[48:14] acres and i h i happened to run into him

[48:16] one day and he had this brand new John

[48:20] Deere machine you know they used to have

[48:23] uh plows and then they they have

[48:25] combines and now they got these machines

[48:27] they just change out things and they do

[48:30] everything this one has the planner box

[48:32] on it

[48:35] everything and he was telling me one day

[48:37] he said it's an amazing thing he said it

[48:40] has GPS on

[48:43] it he said I just get in the cab put my

[48:47] headset on and listen to

[48:49] music and that machine just does its job

[48:53] it's loaded up with seed and it'll just

[48:55] cover every of that property and when

[48:58] it's done it'll take me back to where we

[49:01] began and shut itself

[49:04] down and I said man you can get all that

[49:08] seed in that he said it's amazing the

[49:10] amount of seed I can put in

[49:12] there so I had a question for

[49:16] him you have to have all that

[49:19] seed well he said it just depends on

[49:22] what do you want to get in

[49:24] Harvest I said that's my point

[49:28] because in our churches it seems like

[49:31] people come in and dribble one little

[49:32] seed in the middle of a 100 acres and

[49:35] then they come crying to the preacher

[49:37] and say and I've had this for years

[49:40] number one frustration in my life come

[49:43] to my office and say preacher I I I need

[49:47] the church to help me pay my rent and

[49:48] listen do not misunderstand me I'm for

[49:51] helping people who legitimately need

[49:54] help did you get that so don't BR me and

[49:57] and stop me on the way out and lecture

[50:00] me about loving people I just gave a kid

[50:03] $100 get off my

[50:12] right but I had people come and beg me

[50:15] do this do this and I said listen didn't

[50:17] we have this conversation last

[50:20] year and didn't I help you to understand

[50:23] God has some demands on your Christian

[50:31] you want the blessings of God you have

[50:33] to tithe and by the way the tithe

[50:35] doesn't go to the par of church thing

[50:39] down the road it goes to the local New

[50:41] Testament

[50:48] wanting to get started for several years

[50:52] started and I said to him I had a deacon

[51:33] preacher I lost my job and we're in

[51:35] trouble I'm on

[51:39] board preacher we've had some medical

[51:43] bills that have eaten us

[51:45] up if I can help I'm on

[51:47] board but I'm saying we need to learn

[51:50] the principle that we only get back from

[51:53] God what we invest to God Amen and if

[51:57] it's one seed in the middle of a 100

[51:59] acres don't plan on getting a bumper

[52:01] crop don't plan on getting all of the

[52:04] blessings at Harvest Time don't come and

[52:07] say wow you can't believe this man we

[52:10] were lining up those big trucks and

[52:12] pouring the Grain in you're not going to

[52:15] get that out one seed you're going to

[52:17] get it when you put every inch of that

[52:20] ground under seed

[52:22] amen and God says the same thing is true

[52:25] in our giving in the house of God if you

[52:28] give a little

[52:30] bit you're just going to get a little

[52:32] bit if you give a lot God says not only

[52:37] are you going to get a lot but it's

[52:38] going to be good measure pressed down

[52:40] shaken together and running over and and

[52:43] listen that's when you learn to enjoy

[52:47] giving and you give out a joy versus

[52:50] giving out of demand

[52:54] amen the principle of sewing and

[52:57] reaping and then lastly tonight and I

[53:00] love this one in chapter 9 verse

[53:04] 8 actually let's go back to verse seven

[53:06] and read down to verse eight every man

[53:09] as he is purp as he

[53:11] purposeth in his heart so let him give

[53:16] not

[53:17] grudgingly or of

[53:19] necessity for God loveth a what a

[53:22] cheerful giver and know this he says

[53:27] that end that conjunction there ties

[53:30] those two verses together he said be a

[53:33] cheerful giver and know this and know

[53:35] this God is able to make all grace

[53:40] abound isn't that what chapter8 is about

[53:42] look at the macedonians look at the

[53:45] grace of God he bestowed on them that in

[53:48] their horrible Affliction and in their

[53:51] deep poverty they still abounded to The

[53:55] Riches of their liberation Mor it

[53:57] because they just believed what God

[54:01] Said that by

[54:03] Grace he would help them to do more than

[54:07] they were able to do of their own self

[54:10] now there's three thoughts here first of

[54:12] all he said God is able to make all

[54:15] grace

[54:17] abound God wants to pour His grace out

[54:24] says providing all all sufficiency look

[54:28] there that ye always having all

[54:35] God takes care of your needs he supplies

[54:48] Christian would be so immature as to

[54:51] think they could do more with their

[54:54] money than God can do with their money

[54:58] the god The Sovereign god of the

[55:01] universe that created all that we see

[55:05] the earth and the fullness thereof and

[55:08] all that dwells therein God did that and

[55:11] he saved our soul out of the pits of

[55:14] hell and gave us eternal life surely he

[55:18] can handle our

[55:21] finances well I got three

[55:24] amens we're gaining

[55:30] sufficiency and then he said in all

[56:35] buildings were falling down when I left

[56:37] there we didn't own three acres we owned

[56:41] almost 15 Acres God had miraculously

[56:44] given the last 10 to us on the day that

[56:47] the Twin Towers went down the the 10

[56:50] acres they had been trying to buy since

[56:53] 1959

[56:57] and I had been trying to buy it since

[57:01] 1988 and it would sell they'd go to the

[57:04] county and the county say no you can't

[57:06] build

[57:07] that just before 911 2001 a guy bought

[57:12] it to build 80 apartment

[57:15] buildings and the county said yeah we'll

[57:17] go with

[57:19] that and I went in my office and sucked

[57:22] on my thumb and you know why Pray when

[57:24] you can worry that's my

[57:29] personality I decided Hey listen if

[57:32] that's what God wants there we'll just

[57:33] try to win those people to

[57:35] Christ and so I called the guy up and I

[57:38] said if I can help you in any way let me

[57:41] know what I can do he said well can you

[57:44] use your building and let me have a

[57:45] community meeting and let them know that

[57:47] I'm going to try to be careful in the

[57:49] community and do things right I said

[57:52] absolutely absolutely so that meeting

[57:55] was set

[57:56] for the week of 911

[58:01] 2001 that morning

[58:04] 911 I got on a United Airline

[58:08] flight going to Seattle Washington to

[58:13] preach at a national fellowship

[58:17] meeting I we weren't in the air but just

[58:20] a little while when the pilot radioed

[58:23] back and he

[58:24] said ladies and Gent gentlemen I've been

[58:27] told not to do this but he said I don't

[58:29] think it's fair and I'm going to violate

[58:31] what I've been ordered to do he said

[58:35] we're not sure what's happening but

[58:37] America has been

[58:40] attacked and he said we have been

[58:42] ordered to the ground as quickly as we

[58:44] can get to the ground he said we are

[58:46] going to have a very fast and bumpy ride

[58:49] people began to scream the lady next to

[58:52] me said are we going to die and I said

[58:54] shut up

[58:56] if they're on here they're going to get

[58:58] you and me first be

[59:03] quiet I ended up having to drive her

[59:06] back to Florida when I drove home from

[59:09] Birmingham Alabama they landed that

[59:11] thing

[59:12] quickly I'm retired from being a

[59:15] chaplain with Tampa Police and so I had

[59:17] my badge and I walked in and I said can

[59:20] I ask what's going on and they said yeah

[59:21] come on in police Shack here and they

[59:23] showed me the pictures

[59:32] horrifying I took my phone out of my bag

[59:35] and turned it on and immediately I

[59:38] started having messages one of them one

[59:41] of them about 10 times in a row was my

[59:43] wife you you need to call quick call me

[59:46] call me at home I need to know you're

[59:48] okay so I obviously I called her first

[59:51] and said honey I'm fine I'm in

[59:53] Birmingham

[59:54] Alabama when I got on

[59:56] down the guy who bought that land was on

[60:00] the phone and he said Reverend this is

[60:02] so and so that bought the land next door

[60:05] that you're helping with the meeting I

[60:07] he said I I I want to tell you he said I

[60:10] just lost several million dollars on the

[60:13] stock market in just a few

[60:15] minutes he said I cannot buy that

[60:19] land I'm going to have to

[60:23] default I got home I called the lady on

[60:26] the land I said this is offer number

[60:29] seven and I said I I don't want to be

[60:31] rude to you man but I want to ask you

[60:34] when are you going to get the picture

[60:35] that God's holding this land for us she

[60:38] said I got it she said we'll meet

[60:41] tomorrow we'll sign the paperwork and we

[60:43] bought that land sitting today there's

[60:45] a400 seat Auditorium that just had the

[60:49] national gibf fellowship meeting in

[60:52] it beautiful facility

[60:57] I just want to tell you when you walk

[60:59] with

[61:00] God as a people and and that's that's

[61:05] important it has to be the

[61:09] people God will anoint the

[61:13] church and as you trust him he'll bless

[61:19] you so I retired shortly after that I

[61:23] pretty sure I had the two heart attacks

[61:25] I I just had two feet I went in to

[61:28] supposedly have seven inches of colon

[61:30] taken out and they said two feet of

[61:34] colon were dead and they took it

[61:36] out and I was beat

[61:39] up and then the retirement didn't work

[61:42] and I'm sitting in a basement

[61:44] apartment just as angry as I could

[61:48] be about circumstances I'm not as

[61:51] spiritual as you people I actually said

[61:54] Lord what are you going to allow next

[61:57] my wife said shame on you and I said I

[61:59] know I was embarrassed I couldn't take

[62:01] care of her properly I was so sick I

[62:03] couldn't get a job I I was having real

[62:06] struggles couldn't get Social

[62:12] Security and God really got a hold of my

[62:14] heart down there in that basement and I

[62:16] think I mentioned the other night I

[62:18] prayed

[62:19] through my problems and read through the

[62:22] scriptures but I didn't tell you was

[62:25] when I got up off my knees having

[62:26] repented of my

[62:29] sin my telephone

[62:31] rang it was from a young man I had led

[62:34] to Christ in 1976 in my first uh Church

[62:38] Plant in

[62:39] Boston and he said to me just got off

[62:41] the phone with your

[62:46] son just heard how much you're going

[62:51] through he said I'm not I'm I'm not good

[62:54] with that and I said hey don't say anym

[62:57] I just told God I'm okay don't get me

[62:59] back where I was he said well it's okay

[63:01] you be all right with it but it's not

[63:04] all right with me he said I want you to

[63:06] find a piece of property whatever you

[63:09] want to buy I don't care what the amount

[63:11] is and you go sign it you go sign an

[63:14] agreement and in 24 hours I'll have that

[63:17] amount of money in your

[63:19] account I said well let me pray about it

[63:23] I called a preacher and he said well you

[63:25] idiot take the

[63:29] money but we prayed about it and my wife

[63:31] and I decided listen to this we

[63:34] decided we didn't want to take the money

[63:38] we'd take it as a loan because it

[63:39] couldn't get a bank loan to get a house

[63:41] didn't have a job he said you can pay

[63:44] when you're ready then if that's what

[63:45] you want to do I said that's what we

[63:47] want to

[63:49] do so for the last uh 11 years or so

[63:56] not having it in our budget by the way I

[64:00] mean financially it just wasn't there to

[64:03] do what we told him we'd do but we never

[64:06] missed a

[64:08] payment because God supplied it God

[64:11] supplied our every

[64:13] need and I'm sitting at the house

[64:16] just two months ago and my phone

[64:21] rings and he said to me listen what are

[64:24] you doing I said just sitting in a big

[64:25] chair we are very close we're dear

[64:30] friends he said what are you doing just

[64:32] sitting in my big chair watching the

[64:34] news what are you doing working that's

[64:36] what he's always

[64:38] doing he said I just called to tell

[64:42] you he said I just called to tell you

[68:49] world that have no gospel

[68:54] witness there are there are many cities

[68:57] around our country that have no little

[69:00] Baptist Church to preach the

[69:05] gospel there are

[69:07] missionaries that used to get their

[69:09] support raised in a year to 18 months

[69:13] that are now taking three and four years

[69:15] to get on the

[69:16] field God I pray you'd help us to do our

[69:19] best in our missions giving and that by

[69:24] your grace

[69:26] by your grace we do the very best we can

[69:29] to help those who are willing to go in

[69:33] our place to get where they want to go
