[0:06] crews have arrived to defend Israel
[0:08] against any more Scud missile attacks
[0:10] from Iraq. And the US roundthe-clock air
[0:14] war against Sodom Hussein is now focused
[0:16] on Iraqi ground troops.

[0:25] Schaefer reporting. Good evening. As the
[0:28] war entered its fourth day, the United
[0:30] States and its allies tonight reported
[0:32] more than 4700 bombing missions against
[0:35] Iraqi positions, and they are still
[0:37] counting. For the first time, officials
[0:39] say the air war is now being
[0:41] concentrated on Iraq's ground forces,
[0:43] including Saddam Hussein's elite
[0:45] Republican Guard on the Kuwait Iraqi
[0:48] border. But it's not being done without
[0:50] cost. The United States said tonight it
[0:52] has now lost a total of six jets, three
[0:54] in the last 24 hours. A total of 10
[0:57] Iraqi jets have been knocked out. Also
[0:59] today, the United States rushed those
[1:01] Patriot anti-scud missile batteries to
[1:03] Israel and will supply the US crews to
[1:06] run them. That came after the latest
[1:07] Iraqi missile attacks on Israel. Well,
[1:10] for the latest on all of this, we want
[1:12] to go first to our Pentagon
[1:13] correspondent, David Martin. David. Bob,
[1:16] literally within a matter of hours
[1:17] today, the US rushed those Patriot air
[1:19] defense missiles to Israel to help
[1:21] Israel defend itself against Iraq's Scud
[1:24] missile attacks. And at the same time,
[1:26] the campaign to liberate Kuwait has
[1:28] entered a a new and bloodier phase as
[1:31] the US begins carpet bombing Iraqi
[1:34] troops.
