[0:07] >> For anyone who knows someone with an

[0:09] addiction, this is a must-see Dr. Phil

[0:12] House intervention

[0:14] >> today in the Dr. Phil House.

[0:17] >> No.

[0:17] >> Do you want to quit drugs?

[0:19] >> Yeah.

[0:19] >> Why?

[0:20] >> Because I hate living the way I do.

[0:23] >> The twins on heroin take on Dr. Phil.

[0:25] >> That is one skanky looking cocore.

[0:29] You're six months pregnant and you take

[0:31] a hit of heroin

[0:33] >> as the ultimate intervention goes full

[0:35] force.

[0:36] >> Somehow somewhere I'm going to get you

[0:38] off a drug.

[0:39] >> The withdrawals.

[0:40] >> I just don't feel good. I can't get up.

[0:43] >> The sabotage.

[0:44] >> Why did you go sabotage our efforts if

[0:46] you wanted her to quit?

[0:48] >> And the reality.

[0:49] >> At this point, I'm in the game and

[0:51] you're going to do it. I will do

[0:54] whatever it takes to save your life.

[0:57] Will you let me help you?

[1:01] >> Be advised, this program contains strong

[1:04] language and graphic situations. Viewer

[1:07] discretion is a must. Coming up,

[1:11] let's do it. I want you to get excited

[1:15] about your life.

[1:16] >> Here we go in 10.

[1:17] >> Stand by camera.

[1:18] >> If you're going to talk to me, you're

[1:19] going to have to be on. Stand by, Dr. P.

[1:21] Showtime. This is going to be a changing

[1:24] day in your life.

[1:27] I'm taking people with real problems and

[1:29] moving them in to the Dr. Phil house.

[1:32] I'm going to put you under a microscope.

[1:34] Need a camera here? Need one here. I'm

[1:36] putting cameras everywhere to see what

[1:38] really happens behind closed doors. I am

[1:41] moving in with you.

[1:46] Last week, we told the story of

[1:47] 25-year-old twins Sarah and Takcoa. Two

[1:51] beautiful girls with so much to look

[1:53] forward to. But after their stepfather

[1:55] left and divorced their mother, Cindy,

[1:57] Sarah and Takcoa started the downward

[1:59] spiral that would eventually lead them

[2:01] into hard drugs like crack and heroin.

[2:04] It's a shocking tale, one that every

[2:07] parent should heed. How two girls with

[2:09] such promise could go from this to this.

[2:15] Here's what happened last time.

[2:21] When you're high, nuclear bomb could go

[2:25] off and you won't care.

[2:27] >> I first tried heroin when I was 15. I

[2:30] introduced Sarah to heroin when she was

[2:33] 16.

[2:35] >> Dude, I'm home.

[2:36] >> I had no idea that this was happening.

[2:39] >> I probably would have sold my own mom to

[2:41] get a fix.

[2:45] >> I need something to tie up with

[2:47] anything.

[2:48] >> I spent months with Sarah. I've

[2:50] witnessed everything. I've seen her

[2:53] shoot heroin.

[2:55] >> When you do that one shot, it's just

[2:57] like magic.

[3:00] >> She prostitutes 24/7. This is where I

[3:04] train.

[3:05] >> Hey, this is Sarah. 2 minutes. Okay, I'm

[3:08] waiting on you. He pay like $80 for

[3:14] >> I've seen her smoke crack.

[3:16] >> It gives you this rush. Yeah, that

[3:19] part's good.

[3:21] >> She shoots drugs very frequently in the

[3:23] cemetery.

[3:25] >> Where are we going and get high? I'm

[3:28] ready to do some dick now.

[3:30] >> Sometimes it'll smack me in my face. Oh

[3:32] my god, look at me. I'm homeless and I

[3:35] know I look horrible.

[3:37] >> Sarah will shoot drugs until she reaches

[3:39] the point of unconsciousness.

[3:42] They stole things from me to pawn for

[3:44] drugs. There was no way I could stop it.

[3:48] >> It's about looking back and saying,

[3:51] "What did I miss?"

[3:53] >> I thought they were starting to maybe

[3:55] experiment with alcohol or marijuana

[3:59] when they were 12, 13 years old.

[4:01] >> Where were you when they were doing it?

[4:03] >> At work or they were out with friends

[4:07] and maybe I wasn't awake when they came

[4:11] home. You said a great deal of their

[4:13] lives were taken away from you by the

[4:17] drugs. I think it's important that you

[4:20] know where those girls have been.

[4:24] >> I've worked as a prostitute for about 3

[4:27] years.

[4:28] >> Oh, look. There's one of my John's

[4:30] looking for me.

[4:30] >> I'll give the world thanks for that.

[4:34] It felt really degrading, but those

[4:37] thoughts went away fast when you know I

[4:39] saw the couple hundreds and was shooting

[4:42] the dope in my vein.

[4:43] >> You're getting paid for your soul.

[4:48] >> It's extremely difficult to watch.

[4:51] >> I knew I had to find the twins and bring

[4:54] them to the Dr. Phil house in Los

[4:56] Angeles.

[4:57] >> Tell me how you're feeling about going

[4:58] to talk to Dr. Phil. Actually, like I'm

[5:01] kind of I'm just worried about how am I

[5:05] going to bring heroin to LA.

[5:07] >> We got to the airport. We got through

[5:09] security.

[5:09] >> I went to the bathroom, followed Sarah

[5:11] in, and she was shooting heroin and

[5:13] getting ready to light up the crack

[5:15] pipe.

[5:16] >> I have my crack and my needle thing.

[5:21] That's the way

[5:38] Okay, let me turn the TV on. We're going

[5:40] to watch a message from Dr. Phil.

[5:43] >> Takcoa, Sarah, Cindy, I want to welcome

[5:46] you to the Dr. Phil house. But I want to

[5:48] tell you upfront, you've entered my

[5:49] world now. You've entered a world where

[5:52] I have access to you 24 hours a day, 7

[5:54] days a week. and I am going to be

[5:56] watching. Now, Sarah, I want to talk to

[5:59] you first because I know that up until

[6:02] now, you've been living a world that's

[6:04] just full of lies and secrets. You've

[6:06] been on the street struggling to stay

[6:08] alive. You've been selling your body for

[6:10] drugs. Did you hear what I just said?

[6:12] You've been selling your body for drugs,

[6:15] doing anything you could to stay alive.

[6:18] Now, you probably feel really bad right

[6:20] now cuz you've been off drugs for 12

[6:22] hours. We've got Dr. burn bomb from the

[6:24] creative care center that's going to be

[6:26] monitoring you medically. But the real

[6:28] challenge, Sarah, is the one that you're

[6:30] going to have to make to step up and

[6:32] claim your life. Cuz we all know if you

[6:34] spin back onto the streets, we're going

[6:36] to find you dead.

[6:40] Now, Takcoa, you were addicted. You were

[6:43] addicted until you were arrested and

[6:45] hauled into jail. And you spent over 70

[6:47] days getting that monkey off your back,

[6:50] fighting to stay sober. But that wasn't

[6:52] your choice. You're out now and you've

[6:54] got to make a choice. Will you stay

[6:57] clean? Will you stay sober? Will you

[6:59] fight those cravings for the baby that

[7:01] you carry inside your body right now?

[7:04] Cindy, I know that you didn't want these

[7:07] drugs to be in your daughter's lives. I

[7:10] know that you didn't want to be an

[7:11] enabler that made this happen. You're in

[7:14] over your head. You need help now. And

[7:17] what we're going to do is get all of

[7:19] this on the table. And what I don't need

[7:21] is anybody being defensive. What I don't

[7:23] need is anybody putting up barriers.

[7:25] What I don't need is somebody trying to

[7:27] cover their own butt and trying to be

[7:29] right instead of being successful. This

[7:32] is not going to be easy. This is your

[7:35] first night. Settle in. Get some rest.

[7:38] Cuz come tomorrow morning, I'm coming

[7:39] for you.

[7:42] >> He's the stereotyped.

[7:47] Just one day off heroin, Sarah was in

[7:50] full withdrawal, craving drugs and

[7:52] binging on food. We sent the doctor to

[7:54] the house to help get Sarah through her

[7:57] detox. To say she wasn't happy would be

[8:00] a huge understatement.

[8:04] >> I don't feel good.

[8:05] >> Cold, sweat, diarrhea.

[8:08] >> It's not good right now.

[8:12] >> I'm a hard user.

[8:16] My bones ache, everything. Backache,

[8:19] stomach ache, I'm sweating all heroin.

[8:22] Can't sleep. Not lying just to get some

[8:25] drugs.

[8:29] >> I'm Dr. Burnbound, darling.

[8:31] >> And let me let you know that I have been

[8:34] where you are.

[8:36] >> That's good. So, you know how I feel cuz

[8:38] a lot of people don't. They're all like,

[8:39] "It's like the flu." No, it's not like

[8:43] the flu. you ever had in your life and

[8:44] you want to die? Are you having any

[8:46] belly ache, backachche?

[8:47] >> I'm having everything. Everything.

[8:49] >> Could you describe some of your

[8:50] symptoms?

[8:50] >> Cold, sweat, diarrhea, yawns, um runny

[8:55] eyes, um knee, my bones ache. I mean,

[8:59] I'm telling you, I'm I'm a hard user.

[9:01] >> When I I first saw Sarah, she was going

[9:03] through irritability and craving of

[9:06] drugs. What are you shooting? Can I take

[9:07] a look?

[9:12] >> Yeah, you got some track marks down

[9:14] here. So, let me fill you in what I'm

[9:16] going to do. You know, first I I know

[9:18] you want medication right now. What I'm

[9:19] going to do is what's called a classical

[9:21] detox, which means we're going to get

[9:23] you off of opiates.

[9:25] >> What does that mean?

[9:26] >> That means if you need some Suboxone

[9:30] Subex, I will give it to you.

[9:31] >> I need some. It's rather interesting

[9:33] because in addition to the opiates in

[9:35] the form of injectable heroin, she also

[9:37] is using crack cocaine which is sort of

[9:39] keeping her on edge.

[9:42] Take one of these out here.

[9:47] When you are taking opiates, as you

[9:50] probably well know, it takes away all

[9:51] fear. If someone says, "I want to cut

[9:53] your head off." You say, "How shall I

[9:54] hold my head?"

[9:56] >> But when you stop the opiates, the fear

[9:58] mechanism, the adrenaline mechanism in

[10:00] your body just screams. What you've been

[10:02] doing every time you use these drugs is

[10:04] you've been completely suppressing your

[10:06] feelings.

[10:07] >> Yeah.

[10:07] >> You've just been knocking down your

[10:08] emotions.

[10:09] >> I know why I do it. I don't want to face

[10:11] reality. I mean, I've tried to get clean

[10:14] and everything and it's like I couldn't

[10:16] find enjoyment out out of anything that

[10:18] I used to find enjoyment out of

[10:20] anything. I couldn't find happiness.

[10:23] >> So, you're not going to give me the

[10:24] vapor?

[10:25] >> That's is typical of addicts. Sarah

[10:27] wants more medication and I'm giving her

[10:30] in the sense of using a drug which is an

[10:33] opiate which should completely relieve

[10:34] her of all symptomatology and just wipe

[10:37] her feelings out. I know you're jonesing

[10:40] and I know you want to get something and

[10:41] you want to stop and discomfort.

[10:42] >> I need some. I'm not really liking this

[10:45] place. They won't give me the right

[10:46] medicine. I still feel sick. I just

[10:49] don't really like being here.

[10:53] Coming up, Sarah is craving drugs and

[10:56] mad at everyone. I'm

[10:58] >> really bad as well.

[10:59] >> She wants you buprenorphine.

[11:01] >> Is she ready for Dr. Phil?

[11:03] >> I just don't feel good. I can't get up.

[11:05] >> Get her out of the bedroom, lock the

[11:06] damn door.

[11:07] >> I'm not feeling good.

[11:09] >> If she goes and lays on the couch, then

[11:10] take the couch out.

[11:12] >> Shut up.

[11:14] >> I have asthma and even with my asthma

[11:17] controller medicine, I was still having

[11:18] symptoms. So, I hadn't taken out my old

[11:21] horn for a while. Then, my doctor put me

[11:23] on Advare. Since then, I've been having

[11:25] fewer symptoms and breathing better. So,

[11:27] I've been thinking about playing again.

[11:34] >> I didn't know you could play like that,

[11:36] Dad.

[11:36] >> Neither did I, son. Neither did I.

[11:39] Advare is the one controller that treats

[11:41] the two main causes of asthma symptoms,

[11:43] airway constriction and inflammation.

[11:46] >> Adver contains Saluterol. In patients

[11:48] with asthma, medicines like someolone

[11:49] may increase the chance of asthma

[11:51] related death. So Advare is not for

[11:52] people whose asthma is well controlled

[11:54] on another controller medicine. Advare

[11:56] won't replace fast acting inhalers for

[11:58] sudden symptoms and should not be taken

[11:59] more than twice a day. Talk to your

[12:01] doctor about the risks and benefits of

[12:02] treating your asthma with Advare. If

[12:04] you're taking Advare, see your doctor if

[12:06] your asthma does not improve. Find out

[12:07] how to get your first full prescription

[12:09] free at advare.com. Advare can help you

[12:12] breathe better.

[12:13] >> That's sweet.

[12:17] Is the coast clear?

[12:19] >> Yes, let's go.

[12:20] >> Are you sure they went to Petco?

[12:22] >> Where else would they go?

[12:24] >> Oopsies.

[12:24] >> Calm down.

[12:26] >> I smell presents,

[12:28] >> pals. Save $20 on the 5gallon Eclipse

[12:30] hexagon aquarium kit. Save $10 on pink

[12:33] princess and blue knight hamster

[12:34] habitats and holiday dog toys and raw

[12:36] hide starting at $1.99.

[12:38] >> Uh-oh. Step on it.

[12:39] >> Okay. Not at my tail.

[12:42] >> Petco, where the pets go.

[13:10] All things holiday all in one stop at

[13:14] Fred Meyer.

[13:17] Ever think what flavors are getting into

[13:20] your butter?

[13:29] The flavor protect wrapper from Lando

[13:31] Lakes keeps the creamy taste you love

[13:33] in, other flavors out.

[13:40] Also try Lando Lake spreadable butter

[13:42] with canola oil.

[13:47] This is the scene from I5 at Capitol

[13:49] Highway just a few moments ago. You can

[13:51] see some snow flurries hitting that

[13:52] area. Will we get more snow tonight? And

[13:55] what about the ice? Keep it right here

[13:57] on Coinne 6 for the very latest.

[14:08] Takcoa has been sober for over two

[14:10] weeks, but her twin Sarah was just

[14:13] coming off the crack and heroin she was

[14:15] so addicted to. We provided the twins

[14:17] with aroundthe-clock medical care,

[14:19] including a nurse who was constantly

[14:21] monitoring their health. Now, after 24

[14:24] hours in the Dr. Philhouse without her

[14:26] hardcore drugs. Sarah was at her worst

[14:30] in full withdrawals and demanding the

[14:32] nurse's attention and some medication.

[14:48] >> Uh, no. The nurse is Would you like to

[14:50] see your honey? I'm not good.

[14:53] >> Okay. Describe your symptoms.

[14:56] >> Everything. I'm having really bad

[14:58] withdrawal right now.

[14:59] >> Okay. Like for example,

[15:02] >> I'm having stomach cramps, sweat,

[15:05] backachche,

[15:07] muscle ache, anxiety,

[15:10] everything.

[15:11] >> Sarah's been withdrawing. It's been

[15:13] pretty difficult. There's still a lot of

[15:15] pain and discomfort there. Sarah's detox

[15:18] is typical for the amount of drugs that

[15:20] she was ingesting. She was ingesting a

[15:23] large quantity of heroin and smoking

[15:26] crack cocaine. This is the scary truth

[15:29] of it. This is typical. This is what it

[15:31] is.

[15:32] >> I'm going to call Dr. B right now and

[15:33] see what I can give you. Oh man.

[15:38] >> Sarah's up and not feeling good. So,

[15:40] she's demanding and pretty selfabsorbed

[15:44] right now and just wants to feel better.

[15:50] She wants to buporphine now, but

[15:52] >> I really I'm going to give it to her,

[15:53] but not right now.

[15:56] >> Why? I need it now. I do not feel good.

[15:59] >> I know. I know you want the opiate now.

[16:01] I completely understand that. Let's try

[16:03] this other stuff first. I'm going to be

[16:05] here. I want to see what happens.

[16:08] >> Oh,

[16:10] it'll work.

[16:11] >> It is going to work.

[16:23] Better saying worse.

[16:25] >> Worse.

[16:26] >> I'm going to make you feel better. Okay.

[16:28] >> I make me feel better now.

[16:30] >> Well, I can't do that now.

[16:32] >> I mean, I don't want to get high or

[16:33] anything.

[16:34] >> I promise I'll make you uncomfortable.

[16:36] That's a promise. Okay. Scouts on him.

[16:39] >> Yeah.

[16:40] >> I'm going to lay down until he's here.

[16:44] >> Good. After a long night of detoxing,

[16:48] Sarah with her somewhat sober twin TCOA

[16:51] met up with psychologist Dr. Frank

[16:53] Lawless. He wanted to discuss their drug

[16:56] cravings to see if he could help ease

[16:57] the pain, but Sarah wasn't having

[17:00] anything to do with him.

[17:06] >> So, tell me how you feeling right now.

[17:08] >> Strong everything. I have all symptoms.

[17:11] >> Everything meaning

[17:12] >> backache, stomach ache. I can't sleep.

[17:16] I'm sweating, cold sweats, everything.

[17:19] >> You feeling any kind of cravings or

[17:21] anything?

[17:22] >> Yeah.

[17:23] >> Yeah. But are you craving any drugs or

[17:26] anything?

[17:26] >> I just want to feel good, feel better.

[17:28] >> Okay. Well, I have some things I want

[17:30] you to try. This is a little device that

[17:34] basically gives off brain frequencies

[17:36] that kind of made you feel good. You can

[17:38] use this in a variety of ways, but I'm

[17:40] going to show you how to get rid of

[17:42] cravings and maybe some of the feelings

[17:43] you're having right now. So, you willing

[17:46] to try my little device?

[17:50] >> I do not feel good.

[17:51] >> I mean, for

[18:04] me sit here. Can I sit here?

[18:06] >> Yeah. Okay, Sarah, you know that this

[18:09] process is one that you kind of got have

[18:12] to go through to cleanse yourself and

[18:14] it's also kind of a a trial to get you

[18:19] to kind of help yourself.

[18:22] So, I'd like to kind of get some kind of

[18:25] notion that you're not just being a

[18:28] passive passenger on this train and that

[18:32] you're really going to kind of learn

[18:34] some ways of kind of replacing all

[18:36] those.

[18:37] >> Well, yeah, but right now I'm just

[18:38] detoxing. I just don't feel good. I can

[18:41] do anything.

[18:42] >> But this is the important phase is when

[18:44] you don't feel good.

[18:45] >> What are you? I just want to lay down

[18:47] and

[18:47] >> I know you want to lay down and be

[18:49] passive. I don't want you. No, I just

[18:51] don't feel good. I can't get up.

[18:53] >> I know. I know it hurts. This is what

[18:55] I'm saying is that you got to start

[18:58] taking care of yourself and you got to

[18:59] take care of yourself.

[19:00] >> I am taking care of myself is laying

[19:01] here right now.

[19:02] >> No, that's being it is. No, it isn't.

[19:04] It's being hurting and like, you know,

[19:07] somebody that's got dope sticking

[19:08] together and walks around. No, I don't

[19:10] think so. Please, you need to please

[19:13] relax.

[19:14] >> But this is what I'm talking about.

[19:15] >> I need to do this. This is what I need

[19:17] to do.

[19:21] Well, stop.

[19:22] >> Nothing's going to help, is it?

[19:23] >> I'm an adult. I can just do this if I

[19:25] want to.

[19:26] >> Well,

[19:28] I guess this is going to be the way

[19:29] you're going to deal with any kind of

[19:31] problems.

[19:32] >> No, but if I can't do it, then I'm not

[19:34] going to.

[19:35] >> This is the way you're going to confront

[19:36] all problems then?

[19:38] >> Okay.

[19:39] >> This is the way you have to learn how to

[19:41] redo yourself.

[19:42] >> Yeah.

[19:42] >> It's come from beneath the surface.

[19:47] >> You understand what I'm talking about?

[19:48] >> Nope.

[19:49] So you you really weren't serious about

[19:51] trying to change?

[19:52] >> Yes, but I'm not feeling good. Oh my

[19:55] god.

[19:55] >> Feeling good. You're never going to feel

[19:56] good as long as you

[19:57] >> I am. As long as the heroin gets out of

[19:59] my system, I'll feel fine.

[20:01] >> Well, you got to fight your way out of

[20:02] it, Sarah.

[20:04] >> This is me fighting my way out of it.

[20:06] Seriously?

[20:06] >> Exactly. Laying on your side and the

[20:08] fetal.

[20:08] >> I can't.

[20:10] >> So, you really weren't serious.

[20:11] >> Yeah. Shut up. I'm serious.

[20:14] >> I don't think you're serious.

[20:16] >> Okay, that's your opinion. I guess we'll

[20:18] have to talk about this later.

[20:21] >> Sarah feels bad and sick. It's hard to

[20:24] express to anybody that you want help or

[20:26] make people think that you want help

[20:29] when you're in physical pain.

[20:32] And it makes

[20:34] other people around you think you're not

[20:37] trying. Makes me think she's not trying.

[20:40] And obviously she made Dr. Lawless think

[20:43] she's not trying.

[20:47] Next, Sarah is 36 hours into detox and

[20:51] TCOA sabotaging her sister.

[20:54] >> I'm enabling Sarah.

[20:56] >> She tells us one story. She tells your

[20:57] sister something else.

[20:58] >> If that's where she wants to be, that's

[21:00] where she wants to be. When you're sick,

[21:02] does that mean you can't do something? I

[21:05] got my own Dylan.

[21:57] >> Yes, sir. Picked it up on Thursday.

[21:59] >> Yeah, let's take a look.

[21:59] >> I bet your insurance rates really went

[22:01] up when you bought this. When are you

[22:04] >> Mark, you're a good insurance agent and

[22:06] a good friend, but I'm happy with my

[22:08] insurer. You know, they're really

[22:09] courteous and they were great with

[24:06] >> What are you doing?

[24:07] >> Lesting children.

[24:08] >> All new Dr. Phil.

[24:14] >> While I was on my way to the Dr. Phil

[24:16] house, Sarah was hiding under the covers

[24:18] and acting belligerent with our

[24:20] psychologist Dr. Frank Lawless. Takcoa

[24:23] was hurting her twins recovery by

[24:25] interfering with our goals. I could not

[24:27] wait to get there and talk to the twins

[24:29] myself. But first, take a look at Takcoa

[24:32] confronting Dr. Lawless about what she

[24:35] thinks needs to happen in the house.

[24:42] >> I could see the approach, but I can't

[24:44] help but feel sympathy for her because

[24:46] when I was there, I was

[24:48] >> to go when you feel sorry for her.

[24:50] >> Oh, I mean I when I

[24:51] >> You're enabling her. You're enabling

[24:53] her. But I mean, I can understand that

[24:55] she's getting toxins out her body. She

[24:58] doesn't want to be.

[24:59] >> Are you going to help her? You going to

[25:01] >> I mean, I I'm going to help her. But

[25:03] >> teach her how to make herself feel

[25:04] better, not look to the doctor over here

[25:07] to make herself feel better. This is the

[25:10] only way it's going to work and stay

[25:12] working. And that's one of the reasons

[25:14] why I'm not completely knocking her out

[25:16] right now. So, she can speak with Phil

[25:19] and Dr. loss and

[25:22] try to start doing some stuff. And I I

[25:24] appreciate the fact that where she is

[25:26] now, where her brain is, she's thinking

[25:28] about her own physical body. I feel

[25:30] like,

[25:31] >> but I mean, you know, it's not like a

[25:33] mind over body thing. When you're

[25:36] physically ill, your body feels bad, you

[25:39] know, and I mean, these are things you

[25:41] think I don't know that.

[25:42] >> Yeah. So, I mean, you know, think

[25:45] feeling better and feel better,

[25:48] >> you know what I mean? That's not until

[25:49] you really start changing is when you

[25:51] start taking your care of yourself.

[25:53] >> I understand.

[25:54] >> You know, when this is the beginning of

[25:56] the recovery, at least let her know that

[25:58] she can do something to help herself.

[26:00] >> I've already spoken with her. I mean,

[26:02] you know,

[26:03] >> you got to talk to her a lot. You got to

[26:04] talk to her. This is a hard time.

[26:07] >> You got to be a coach.

[26:08] >> Okay.

[26:09] >> Okay.

[26:11] >> I'm trying to explain to you that this

[26:15] is called tough love.

[26:17] >> Yeah.

[26:18] And what I wanted to learn is how to

[26:20] take how to make herself feel better

[26:22] instead of relying on drugs or anything

[26:24] else.

[26:25] >> Yeah.

[26:26] >> And we're going to help her out a little

[26:27] bit.

[26:28] >> I'll explain that part together.

[26:30] >> That's important. That's the important

[26:32] thing. Now, you don't have to do it now.

[26:34] You don't have to do I want to do it

[26:36] now.

[26:36] >> Okay.

[26:37] >> So, we'll see.

[26:39] >> Thanks, J.

[26:40] >> Mhm.

[26:45] >> I'm sorry.

[26:47] I'm feeling really sorry for my sister.

[26:49] She's looking like

[26:52] they want you to like move around. And

[26:54] I'm like, dude, I'm sorry, Sarah.

[27:00] I said, it's not a mind over matter

[27:02] thing. And they're like, well, we knew

[27:05] that, but she needs to try to get

[27:07] herself to

[27:10] get herself to feel better. It's so I

[27:13] don't even really understand that

[27:15] approach, but I can understand her part

[27:18] because I know how it is to be sick. And

[27:22] it's not necessarily that you don't want

[27:25] to show initiative

[27:27] or anything. It's just you want to get

[27:31] that illness out of your body. They just

[27:34] want you up and moving, you know, for

[27:36] Dr. Phil, which I don't see is going to

[27:39] be happening.

[27:44] Yeah.

[27:53] >> It's hard to know. Well, is she just

[27:56] going through motions or does she really

[27:58] want help?

[28:00] But I just don't think we'd be right

[28:02] here if she didn't really really want

[28:05] help. Is y'all think I can just walk

[28:08] around everywhere?

[28:12] If that's where she wants to be,

[28:15] that's where she wants to be.

[28:21] >> I don't understand. I don't understand.

[28:23] >> What don't you understand?

[28:26] >> Everybody knows because she doesn't feel

[28:29] good.

[28:30] >> Okay. When you're sick, does that mean

[28:31] you can't communicate with people?

[28:33] you're in a life or death situation that

[28:36] you can't at least life or do something

[28:39] to make the people that are trying to

[28:41] help you believe that that's what you

[28:43] want to do instead of just pulling the

[28:46] covers over your eyes and saying

[28:48] nothing.

[28:49] >> I'm not seeing clearly what they're

[28:51] asking her to do.

[28:54] >> Give us something an expression that

[28:56] yeah, I'm really I really want to work

[28:58] through this. I feel like right now, but

[29:01] I really want to get through this.

[29:03] >> I can't fix Sarah. I cannot fix Sarah.

[29:05] >> Nobody's asking you to fix Sarah.

[29:07] >> And if she want and she, you know,

[29:12] I got my own to deal with.

[29:13] >> I know, Taka.

[29:15] >> I don't want to be too stressed out

[29:17] about it. I think right now

[29:22] she's doing what she wants to do and I I

[29:25] want this to help me. And I kind of

[29:28] don't want negativity to stand in my

[29:32] way. I guess that's selfish, but I've

[29:35] heard many a times sometimes you have to

[29:37] be selfish in your recovery. I don't

[29:40] want anything to happen so you guys

[29:42] don't get this. It's all I just don't

[29:44] want anything to happen so that they

[29:46] don't want to help you.

[29:52] I guess I'm fearful that

[29:55] if they don't express themselves a

[29:57] certain way that they're going to miss

[29:58] the opportunity to to get help. Is it

[30:01] because I'm enabling Sarah?

[30:04] I didn't say that. I'm just telling you

[30:07] be sincere with how you feel and how you

[30:09] feel about the people that are here

[30:12] trying to help.

[30:13] >> I don't know if I can

[30:16] deal with yet another disappointment.

[30:23] So, we got Sarah who's the identified

[30:24] patient and she really doesn't want to

[30:27] get well. All she wants to do is

[30:28] basically sleep through it all and when

[30:31] she feels better, she's going to get

[30:33] serious. And the sister is kind of

[30:36] jealous right now of all the attention

[30:38] going to Sarah and is sabotagious. You

[30:42] know, you need to talk to your sister.

[30:43] You need to get her up. You need to get

[30:45] her to do things for herself. She didn't

[30:48] quite agree, but she said, "Okay, I'll

[30:50] do what I can."

[30:51] >> They just want you up and moving, you

[30:53] know, for Dr. Phil, which I don't see is

[30:56] going to be happening.

[30:58] >> Does she not know we're watching that on

[30:59] camera?

[31:00] >> Uh-uh.

[31:00] >> She hadn't figured that out.

[31:02] >> I guess not. She tells us one story, she

[31:04] tells her, she says for something else.

[31:06] >> Mhm.

[31:06] >> And I called her an enabler and she

[31:08] didn't much like it. But I tried to get

[31:10] her out of the bed so that we could talk

[31:12] about some other things she could do,

[31:14] something fairly simple. She refused to

[31:16] do that.

[31:16] >> Get her out of the bedroom, lock the

[31:18] damn door.

[31:18] >> Basically, where we need to go.

[31:20] >> I mean, and and if she goes and lays on

[31:21] the couch, then take the couch out,

[31:23] right?

[31:23] >> So, you want me to go talk to her?

[31:25] >> Let's do it.

[31:27] >> Coming up, the twins come face to face

[31:30] with Dr. Phil.

[31:31] >> Do you want her to quit? You went and

[35:10] >> I do not feel good.

[35:12] >> Well, I'm Dr. Phil and I feel great.

[35:15] >> Committee, I want to talk to you for a

[35:16] minute.

[35:26] >> I'm glad to meet all of y'all.

[35:30] How are you feeling right now?

[35:31] >> Good. Do you want to quit drugs?

[35:34] >> Yeah.

[35:34] >> Why?

[35:35] >> It's because I hate living the way I

[35:38] live and doing the things I do. Of

[35:42] course, I I love drugs, but I don't want

[35:44] to do them anymore because it's just the

[35:48] lifestyle and everything.

[35:50] >> Yeah. Do you want her to quit?

[35:54] >> Yeah.

[35:54] >> Does Dr. Lawless asked you if you would

[35:56] go encourage her and all of that and you

[35:58] went and told her that we were full of

[35:59] crap and didn't know what we were doing?

[36:01] I got it on tape. I can play it for you

[36:03] if you want me to. I thought it was

[36:05] really hard.

[36:06] >> My exact words.

[36:07] >> Yeah, pretty much.

[36:08] >> Um,

[36:10] yeah. I wanted to quit. I wanted to

[36:12] quit.

[36:13] >> Why did you go sabotage our efforts if

[36:15] you wanted her to quit?

[36:17] Well, I knew she wasn't um necessarily

[36:21] in with doing anything at that point in

[36:24] time. So, I was kind of feeling, I

[36:28] guess, sympathetic towards her and

[36:31] wanting or agreeing with her to get

[36:34] rest.

[36:36] >> That wasn't what she said. You said,

[36:38] "These people don't know what the hell

[36:39] they're doing." But she said, you know,

[36:40] that you could I don't understand why

[36:43] they're doing this because they know

[36:44] you're sick. And usually it can't. It's

[36:47] you lay down and rest during the detox

[36:50] cuz they know, you know, it's hard. And

[36:52] then when you're done with the detox,

[36:54] then you start with the physical and

[36:56] stuff like mental and stuff like that.

[36:58] Well, I mean, the physical is right now,

[37:00] but the mental and everything is should

[37:02] be after the detox because I can't I

[37:04] can't. They all want me to get up and

[37:06] walk around. I really don't feel good.

[37:09] I can't. Walking outside to smoke a

[37:12] cigarette hurts. Okay. Taking a bath

[37:15] hurts. I can't just mingle and be happy

[37:18] and stuff. I'm not I don't feel good.

[37:22] >> We weren't asking you to sit around and

[37:24] see come by. But you know what I do

[37:26] think is interesting is that even as bad

[37:28] as you're feeling,

[37:30] you still rise to protect your twin.

[37:34] >> So those are words that I don't have to

[37:36] go anywhere. I mean, what do you mean?

[37:38] Oh, no. I mean, my twin.

[37:40] >> Yeah. I mean, I think that's good. I

[37:42] think it's great that you still, if

[37:44] somebody is criticizing your sister,

[37:46] which I clearly am, by the way, uh, you

[37:49] come to her defense, which tells me

[37:51] you're still in there.

[37:57] You know what I know? I know that right

[38:00] now things got to look pretty scary to

[38:02] you. Cuz what you know is doing drugs,

[38:05] staying high, riding a roller coaster,

[38:07] selling your body, doing whatever you

[38:10] had to do to get the drugs. And so you

[38:13] don't know anything else.

[38:15] But you know what? I'm here to help you.

[38:19] I'm going to be very clear and you you

[38:22] need to understand something. I know

[38:25] what you've been going through. And hear

[38:28] this if you hear nothing else. I believe

[38:31] from the core of my soul

[38:34] that if we don't help you get a grip,

[38:37] we're going to be burying her real soon.

[38:42] >> Coming up,

[38:43] >> you can throw a fit, you can be a smooth

[38:46] running [ __ ] You have no idea what a

[38:49] hard-headed, stubborn old country boy I

[38:51] am. I can't make you stay here. You know

[41:03] This is a live picture from an ODOT

[41:05] camera from just a few moments ago. And

[41:07] you can see the snow really falling down

[41:09] at I5 at Capitol Hill. But just a mile

[41:12] away from here, it's sunny. So, some

[41:13] snow flurries. And this was the scene on

[41:15] Highway 26 in Washington County this

[41:18] morning. The snow flurries caused lots

[41:20] of problems. And now we want to take you

[41:22] to the coast. This was the scene at

[41:24] Canon Beach where hail and snow were

[41:26] falling. Keep it right here on Coinne 6

[41:29] for the latest on our winter storm.

[41:36] drill.com or call 8664d.

[41:39] That's 8664377445.

[41:42] We now return to the Dr. Phil house.

[41:47] I mean, take a look at you. Look at

[41:49] this. I made this for you so you can

[41:51] focus on what's over your shoulder.

[41:56] >> You're getting paid for your soul.

[42:02] >> Yeah. I think heroin, it keeps you.

[42:10] >> It makes you feel really energetic. It's

[42:13] like speed, you know? It's the opposite

[42:15] of heroin. So, and it gives you this

[42:18] rush.

[42:19] Tired of being out here don't want to

[42:21] deal. I'm tired of this.

[42:47] The video is shocking. It's just like I

[42:49] didn't

[42:51] just to see it from a different

[42:53] perspective, you know? It's different.

[42:55] >> Why is that so hard to watch?

[42:57] >> Because

[43:00] when you're doing it, you don't see it.

[43:02] >> You don't.

[43:05] >> But everybody else does.

[43:10] That's tough.

[43:12] >> That's what's over your shoulder.

[43:19] I'm what's in front of you

[43:23] and you want that or you want this. Cuz

[43:27] let me tell you something.

[43:29] Once I get involved,

[43:32] I am not turning loose. You can throw a

[43:35] fit. You can be a smooth running [ __ ]

[43:37] You can tell people to go jump in the

[43:39] lake. You can do whatever you want, but

[43:42] I'm like a dog with a bone.

[43:46] And I will do whatever it takes

[43:50] to help you save your life.

[43:54] And that's not a scare tactic. I'm

[43:56] telling you, I'm here. I won't go away.

[43:59] You have no idea what a hard-headed,

[44:02] stubborn old country boy I am. And I

[44:05] ain't even almost going to turn you

[44:06] loose. And you know, you can get pissed

[44:08] off and go out the door. You know what

[44:09] I'll do? If you leave, I can't make you

[44:11] stay here. I'll go call a friend of mine

[44:14] on the police department that

[44:16] specializes in drugs. I'll have him

[44:18] follow you down the street. As soon as

[44:19] you make a buy, we'll bust your ass and

[44:21] put you in a penitentiary cuz somehow

[44:24] somewhere I'm going to get you off of

[44:26] drugs. I'll do it behind bars or I'll do

[44:28] it in this beautiful Dr. Phil house.

[44:30] You're either going to do it there or

[44:32] you're going to do it here. Now, if I

[44:34] were you, I'd rather do it here with me

[44:37] to help you, your mom to help you, your

[44:39] sister to help you, people to work with

[44:41] you all the time, or we can go put you

[44:43] on a cot in the jail where all you smell

[44:45] is urine and feces and you can do it

[44:48] down there. But either way, at this

[44:51] point, I'm in the game and you're going

[44:53] to do it.

[44:54] >> The most shocking thing Dr. Phil said to

[44:56] me, I think was when he sincerely looked

[44:59] me, my mom, and Sarah in our eyes and

[45:03] said, "I want to help you

[45:05] >> cuz you've told me you wanted to. I

[45:07] didn't come looking for you,

[45:11] >> and you tell me you want to be here now.

[45:12] Is that right? Do I understand you

[45:14] right? You want to do this?"

[45:20] >> Coming up, Dr. Phil sets his sights on

[45:23] TCOA. So you're 6 months pregnant and

[45:25] you take a hit of heroin and you smoke

[45:27] cigarettes.

[45:29] This is you 20 years later if you keep

[48:10] used a friend of mine. He's a realtor.

[48:12] So who'd you go with? I went with

[48:16] except help me pack. Really? My house

[48:19] listed for 400,000 and Haskins only

[48:22] charged me $4,000. My friend charged me

[48:25] $30,000.

[48:27] I need some new friends.

[48:47] >> We have one polygraph that says you were

[48:51] being deceptive and one polygraph that

[48:54] says that you were being truthful.

[48:55] >> And the drama is far from over.

[48:58] >> What are you doing?

[48:59] >> New allegations.

[49:00] >> Did you sleep with a 12-year-old girl?

[49:01] >> Hell no.

[49:02] >> Jeremy returns.

[49:03] >> What are you doing?

[49:05] >> Molesting children. Then on Wednesday,

[49:07] >> getting me off the show right now.

[49:09] >> You saw him storm off the stage. This

[49:12] cheater's back and hear what Dr. Phil

[49:14] discovered.

[49:15] >> Drop the bomb, Doc. I don't want some

[49:17] middle-aged balding white guy to tell me

[49:19] enough.

[49:19] >> You need somebody to throw the bull flag

[49:21] on you.

[49:22] >> Wednesday. We now return to the Dr. Phil

[49:26] House.

[49:27] >> I I put something together for you both

[49:29] of you. I want you to take a look at

[49:30] this. This is Takcoa.

[49:34] That's you. Now, that's you at 47 if you

[49:39] stop doing drugs. That's a computerized

[49:42] aging program that looks at your facial

[49:44] structure, the aging process, and that's

[49:46] what you'll look like at 47 years of age

[49:49] if you stop doing drugs.

[49:52] >> During the age progressing, when he

[49:54] showed me what I would look like, 47 off

[49:56] drugs and then 47 on drugs, it was just

[50:00] astounding how different they looked. It

[50:03] just makes it realer for me cuz we don't

[50:06] see the future, you know, when I'm

[50:08] using.

[50:09] >> You've been in jail. That's a tough way

[50:11] to do it, isn't it?

[50:13] >> Yeah.

[50:14] >> Would you have rather done it here?

[50:17] >> Yeah. Yeah, I would. I would have.

[50:20] >> But now you got to choose it for

[50:22] yourself and you got to choose it for

[50:24] your baby. And you're still not making

[50:26] good choices about your baby. You're

[50:28] still smoking. This might as well be

[50:30] sprinkling arsenic

[50:32] on the baby. You going to do that? When

[50:34] was the last time you had a hit of

[50:36] heroin?

[50:38] >> Um,

[50:40] was it 2 weeks ago?

[50:41] >> So, you're 6 months pregnant and you

[50:43] take a hit of heroin and you smoke

[50:46] cigarettes. How you going to explain

[50:47] that to your baby?

[50:51] Can we have Sarah? That's you. Now,

[50:54] camera doesn't lie, does it?

[50:57] This is you at age 47 if you keep doing

[51:01] drugs. This isn't just kind of an artist

[51:04] rendering. This is how the FBI finds

[51:06] missing people 20 years later. They look

[51:08] at their bone structure. They look at

[51:10] their lifestyles. They look at all of

[51:11] this and do a progression. That's you at

[51:13] age 47 on the street.

[51:16] Now that is one skanky looking co-core

[51:20] at 47 years of age.

[51:23] Takcoa now and then. And there you are

[51:26] now. Then

[51:28] I don't want your past to be your

[51:30] future. We're going to ask you to do the

[51:32] things you need to do to get to the next

[51:34] level.

[51:37] This is going to be a long road back,

[51:40] but you're not going to do it alone.

[51:43] You two have made some mistakes along

[51:45] the way as well. You got to be willing

[51:47] to learn a new way to be in her life.

[51:51] But when you know better, you're going

[51:54] to do better.

[51:55] Okay.

[51:56] >> That means you and I are going to be

[51:57] partners.

[51:58] >> Okay.

[51:59] >> Okay.

[51:59] >> I'm going to tell you some stuff you

[52:00] don't want to hear,

[52:01] >> I'm sure.

[52:02] >> But you're going to embrace it and

[52:04] change it and move on. Sarah, what if

[52:08] there's a way to get you off of these

[52:10] drugs and get you where you don't need

[52:14] them to be happy? What if there's a way

[52:18] for you to become a vibrant young woman,

[52:21] living on your own, standing on your own

[52:24] two feet, having friends and a life and

[52:28] a future? Would you want that?

[52:33] But you ain't got any more idea in a

[52:35] goose how to get started, do you? What

[52:38] you need to do right now is get through

[52:41] today.

[52:42] And if we come in and say, "Want you to

[52:45] go over there and stand on your head in

[52:46] a corner for 30 minutes." You know what

[52:48] you need to do? You need to go head down

[52:49] and tail up. You can [ __ ] about it. You

[52:52] can say you don't like it. You can

[52:53] holler till hell wouldn't have it. I

[52:55] don't care long as you do it. And that

[52:57] means you got to make choices. There are

[53:00] two ways that's going to keep you from

[53:01] winding up where you are on the right.

[53:04] One is you never make it

[53:07] cuz you overdose and kill yourself.

[53:11] Or number two is you take your life

[53:12] back.

[53:16] You take your life back. We going to

[53:19] roll our sleeves up here and do what

[53:21] needs to be done. So you got to trust

[53:23] people around you that care about you.

[53:25] You got to take a risk. You got to trust

[53:26] me. You got to trust your mother. You

[53:28] got to trust your sister. And sister,

[53:31] you got to be trustworthy. Can't go in

[53:33] there and tell her what she wants to

[53:34] hear. You got to tell her the truth. And

[53:36] you got to tell yourself the truth.

[53:39] and Sarah,

[53:41] we can do this. And most importantly,

[53:44] you are worth it.

[53:47] Hear what I'm saying? We can do this.

[53:50] And you are worth this.

[53:52] You can be healthy and happy

[53:56] and have this out of your life. And you

[53:58] don't have to do it alone. Will you let

[54:00] me help you?

[58:12] Well, I just got through talking to the

[58:14] twins, and I have real questions about

[58:18] whether Sarah takes herself seriously

[58:21] enough to make a change here. I I think

[58:24] this girl is absolutely uh at a

[58:27] crossroads in her life. She's either

[58:29] going to grab a hold of the help that's

[58:31] getting offered her or she's not. And if
