[0:00] Here
[0:02] comes Super Tuesday finally and a major
[0:04] dispute tonight about AIDS and
[0:06] heterosexuals.
[0:10] NBC Nightly News with Tom Broth.
[0:14] >> Good evening from our new home. Just in
[0:17] time for coverage of Super Tuesday, the
[0:19] biggest prize of this presidential
[0:21] campaign. By tomorrow night, Vice
[0:23] President George Bush is expected to
[0:25] have a commanding lead and the
[0:26] Democratic race could be down to just
[0:28] three. 20 states altogether, including a
[0:32] powerful block of the deep south,
[0:34] anchored by Texas in the west and
[0:35] Florida in the east, and the border
[0:38] states. Altogether, more than 30% of the
[0:40] delegates in each party will be selected
[0:42] tomorrow in primaries and caucuses that
[0:45] reach all the way to New England and the
[0:46] far west. And the Democrats today were
[0:48] going for the big hall in the big
[0:50] states. Jesse Jackson today in Texas
[0:53] where he is expected to do well and not
[0:55] just among blacks. He's become a
[0:57] candidate of many hats and by tomorrow
[0:59] night he's expected to be a candidate of
[1:01] many delegates.
[1:03] >> Tennessee Senator Al Gore in Houston,
[1:05] one of eight cities on his schedule
[1:07] today. Gore has bet all on Super Tuesday
[1:10] and he insists he'll survive tomorrow.
[1:13] >> Missouri Congressman Richard Gart
[1:15] running low on money in Texas today
[1:17] attacking Massachusetts Governor Michael
[1:18] Dukakus for wanting to cut the defense
[1:21] budget. As NBC's Dennis Murphy reports
[1:23] now, Dukakus is a target because he's
[1:25] looking strong for Super Tuesday.
[1:32] Today, Dukakus had a kiss for 74year-old
[1:35] Anne Acriman, one of his most
[1:37] influential backers in Florida. Acriman,
[1:39] a political activist,
[1:54] Well, you know how it is in a new home.
[1:55] Not all the doors close and the plumbing
[1:57] doesn't always work the first day that
[1:58] you're in it. And that's what's happened
[1:59] to us tonight. We hope to get back to
[2:00] that in just a few moments. On the
[2:02] Republican side, the Super Tuesday
[2:04] momentum appears to be mainly with Vice
[2:06] President George Bush. Although, as
[2:08] NBC's Lisa Myers reports now, Bob Dole
[2:11] is determined to carry on the fight
[2:12] beyond the South.
[2:32] despite the best laid plans. A federal
[2:34] judge today dismissed Vice Pat
[2:36] Robertson's $35 million liel suit
[2:38] against former Congressman Paul Pete
[2:40] McCloskkey after Robertson agreed to two
[2:43] conditions to pay about $20,000 in court
[2:45] cost and not to file the same liel suit
[2:48] again. Robertson brought the suit after
[2:50] McCloskkey accused him of ducking combat
[2:52] in Korea.
[2:54] And there's a chance that I'll be back
[2:56] right after this.
[3:05] There's one raisin cereal that stays
[3:07] crispier in milk than any other. There's
[3:11] never been a crisp crisp like this. This
[3:14] is crispy wheats and raisins.
[3:19] >> When your coffee is smooth and easy like
[3:21] Sunday morning and it tastes your way,
[3:23] it's necessarily Nes Cafe. Great coffee
[3:26] blends to change the way that's
[3:29] necessarily.
[3:34] >> How long does a John Deere last?
[3:36] >> How long does a John Deere last?
[3:40] How long does a John Deere last? Well,
[3:44] that's a good question.
[3:49] If you think you've heard all the news
[3:50] about aspirin, think again. Today,
[3:52] there's an even better aspirin formula.
[3:54] Anison. Clinical tests show that Andison
[3:57] relieves headache pain better than
[3:58] regular strength aspirin.
[4:01] >> Andison, a better aspirin formula.
[4:07] >> Tomorrow is Super Tuesday. Of course, it
[4:09] is the richest prize in this long
[4:11] presidential year. And for the
[4:12] Democrats, Michael Dukakus, Governor of
[4:15] Massachusetts.
