[0:34] >> Good evening in Montana tonight as
[0:36] federal agents remain in a standoff with
[0:38] armed members of the anti-government
[0:39] group, the Freeman. Two leaders of the
[0:42] group were back in court today for
[0:43] arraignment. Both men have so far
[0:45] refused to cooperate with authorities.
[0:48] One of them on a hunger strike, refusing
[0:50] to bathe and refusing even to say why.
[0:53] It is all part of their philosophy that
[0:55] the US government is itself illegal. We
[0:58] have two reports on the situation
[0:59] beginning with ABC's Dean Reynolds in
[1:02] Montana. It was the second time this
[1:04] week the government had tried to arraign
[1:06] the two freemen militants Leroy
[1:08] Schweitzer and Daniel Peterson. And for
[1:10] the second time, neither man cooperated.
[1:13] After removing Peterson for outburst,
[1:15] the judge entered not guilty p for both.
[1:19] In addition to threatening government
[1:20] officials, they are accused of running a
[1:22] multi-million dollar fraud involving bad
[1:24] checks and phony money orders drafted at
[1:27] the home of freeman militant Rodney
[1:29] Skirdall. Banking officials concede
[1:31] anyone with a private computer and laser
[1:34] printer could do what the freeman did.
