[11:08] the uh testimony service for college in

[11:11] age group tonight because one I want to

[11:13] get over with and two I want to say it

[11:16] first so if someone else says it they

[11:17] stole it from me I just want to set the

[11:20] record straight um so I just got done

[11:23] with uh fifth or sixth uh youthcon I'm

[11:26] getting old I know um but

[11:30] I feel like this year above most years

[11:34] was really a blessing to me um not that

[11:36] the other ones weren't

[11:38] but I was at a place where I kind of

[11:43] really really needed it um and so this

[11:47] year I had a open mind of going like

[11:50] strictly for the preaching I was like

[11:52] I've I've been to the main event I've

[11:55] been to frer City Whitewater it wasn't

[11:59] it wasn't about it was for me to go and

[12:01] hear the preaching and I'm so glad that

[12:06] I went with an open heart because the

[12:08] messages were absolutely fantastic and

[12:13] um I think the message that spoke to me

[12:15] the most and you're going to hear this a

[12:17] lot from a lot of people we named this

[12:20] message um the wet dog message um and

[12:25] so um I believe it was brother Dave

[12:28] hetzer it was was the first night so it

[12:30] was a Tuesday night and he had talked

[12:33] about how um he he went to the beach

[12:36] with his family and he had he found his

[12:39] seat and he nice part of the beach no

[12:42] one was there and he sat down he didn't

[12:46] look around he just sat down and he

[12:49] stayed there and then eventually one dog

[12:51] came over and he was confused and then

[12:54] second dog and then before he knew it

[12:57] there were dogs all around him and he

[13:00] was confused he didn't know what was

[13:02] happening and then he looked up and saw

[13:05] it was the dog

[13:06] beach and he related that to our life

[13:11] and what what I really got out of it was

[13:15] um we go and we're in our Christian walk

[13:18] and we find a place to sit and we sit

[13:20] down and then um we start seeing things

[13:25] that shouldn't be there start popping up

[13:28] but when he looked over after he

[13:30] realized he was in the wrong spot he

[13:33] looked over at the other side of the

[13:34] beach where he was supposed to be and

[13:38] when we're sitting down and we're in the

[13:41] wrong part of the beach the wrong part

[13:43] we're not supposed to be there we can

[13:45] see where we're supposed to be and we

[13:48] can see

[13:50] where um where this is where this is the

[13:55] dog beach we're not supposed to be there

[13:57] he needed to be over here here but I

[14:01] started thinking um a lot of times we

[14:05] get especially me we get and we sit down

[14:09] and then we start seeing all the stuff

[14:13] that we shouldn't be seeing uh realizing

[14:16] we need to move and we can look over and

[14:18] we can see where we need to be but

[14:20] instead of getting up we just stay there

[14:24] we get lazy

[14:26] and um coming back to Summer from my

[14:30] first year of Heartland um I kind of got

[14:34] in the the mindset of trying to do

[14:38] everything physically that I could do

[14:41] for God that I was completely forgetting

[14:44] what I should be doing spiritually so

[14:46] even though I was out on bus vitation I

[14:48] was singing in the choir I was doing

[14:50] this that you know anything and

[14:52] everything that I could physically

[14:55] spiritually I was still sitting in the

[14:57] dog park and I was looking over over

[14:59] where my actions were showing I was at

[15:01] and where I needed to be but instead of

[15:04] moving I was just sitting there looking

[15:07] at it and uh brother Jesse um gave us a

[15:12] couple questions he wanted us to go

[15:14] through he said

[15:16] one why or what is God speaking to us

[15:20] why does God want us to be here and what

[15:23] are we going to do about it so I started

[15:25] thinking okay why is why does God want

[15:27] me here and I started to realize well

[15:31] spiritually I hadn't gotten up yet I I

[15:35] my actions are showing that I'm doing

[15:38] I'm over there and I'm like as far over

[15:42] there as I could possibly be but

[15:45] spiritually I was still stuck in the dog

[15:47] part and so okay so now I've I know why

[15:51] God wants me there I know

[15:54] why uh uh what specifically is um

[15:59] speaking to me and I thought okay then

[16:02] the last one what am I going to do about

[16:04] it and that's the problem when we get

[16:06] sat seated down and we look over we

[16:09] don't do anything about it we just sit

[16:12] there in the dog park um and so uh the

[16:17] rest of the messages uh were really good

[16:20] but then we got to night three about um

[16:24] brother um uh Gates was talking about uh

[16:29] surrendering and I realized I needed to

[16:33] surrender all aspects of my life and put

[16:37] a focus on the spiritual because I was

[16:40] focusing so much so on all of the

[16:43] physical things of what I could be doing

[16:45] for God that my spiritual walk was

[16:49] affected because of that and so um I'm

[16:52] really glad that I got to um to go and

[16:57] to uh hear that that and

[17:00] to further uh walk with God that in my

[17:07] life I really really needed and I'm so

[17:09] glad that God was able to speak to me

[17:13] and

[17:14] um now I'm on my way to walking towards

[17:18] where I should be thank you

[17:35] howy so this is my third year of Youth

[17:38] gon and overall it was great it was

[17:41] definitely well the first year was

[17:43] pretty great but I would definitely have

[17:44] to say this was one of my very favorite

[17:46] youth cons the preaching was amazing the

[17:49] games were great and it was it was

[17:51] really just a good time first I'd like

[17:53] to thank uh brother Jesse and Miss

[17:56] Priscilla for for taking three days out

[17:59] of their week to come out and drive us

[18:01] around and and really be a part of it

[18:04] what I what I really liked about brother

[18:06] Jesse is that he didn't just do the bare

[18:08] minimum he went above and beyond I mean

[18:11] it was his suggestion to do a 12 o'clock

[18:14] basketball game and we did that for like

[18:16] two and a half

[18:18] hours and he he really had a good heart

[18:21] with it you could tell he really wanted

[18:23] to be there with us and that's something

[18:25] that I I really

[18:26] enjoyed um as the preaching it was

[18:30] really hard to narrow down just one

[18:31] night because it was all so good it was

[18:33] just good preaching after good preaching

[18:35] after good preaching but my favorite

[18:38] service was the morning service on

[18:41] Wednesday it was Wednesday morning and

[18:43] it was

[18:45] by Burton Gates now the one thing that

[18:48] really stuck out to me during during the

[18:50] service was he said if you only do what

[18:53] you've always done you'll only have what

[18:56] you've always had and I thought thought

[18:59] that that that was just really good

[19:00] because like for me I've always been

[19:02] raised in church I've always done the

[19:04] actions I've I know my Bible I read my

[19:06] Bible and I've I've always done that and

[19:09] it's really easy to get into such a rut

[19:10] with it you just do the same thing every

[19:12] day every day and then you realize that

[19:15] you really haven't got anywhere with

[19:16] your walk with God because you've you've

[19:18] been doing what you've been doing you

[19:19] haven't changed anything you haven't you

[19:22] haven't decided to do anymore you

[19:23] haven't you you really just get stuck in

[19:26] it it just becomes everyday things and

[19:28] you're not your your heart's not really

[19:29] in it and that's happened to me a couple

[19:32] times and when I went to youthcon I I

[19:35] was in that rut and thanks to that

[19:37] service the one that stuck out to me I

[19:38] was able to get out of that and realize

[19:40] that that's the position I was in so

[19:43] that that service very very much stuck

[19:44] out to me I would like to thank uh

[19:47] Pastor for giving us the opportunity to

[19:49] go and anyone that signed our calendars

[19:53] to help fund us so that we could go

[19:56] and probably my favorite my favorite

[20:00] activity is great as main event and

[20:04] Frontier City was I'd have to say it was

[20:06] the uh Midnight basketball game we went

[20:08] down there we played there for like two

[20:10] hours hour and a half to two hours

[20:11] something like that played full court

[20:13] and it was it was just a good time I the

[20:16] the services are really great they're

[20:17] the they're the best part but a close

[20:20] second is fellowshipping with other

[20:22] believers and meeting other good people

[20:26] that also want to know more about Christ

[20:29] so thank

[20:54] of sleep it's because I am uh we all ran

[20:57] on about two hours of sleep at night at

[21:00] youthcon um and it was

[21:03] awesome uh very fun um I just want to

[21:06] start off by thanking everyone um for

[21:09] all your support whether it was

[21:11] Financial um or spiritual um you guys

[21:15] made it possible for us to come um and

[21:19] I'd like to thank Priscilla I don't know

[21:22] if she's in here she's in the nursery

[21:24] I'd like to thank Priscilla um and

[21:26] brother Jesse for just making this and

[21:29] an incredible experience you guys took

[21:32] time out of your lives out of your work

[21:34] um you took time away from your kids for

[21:36] us and that's a lot and you put your

[21:38] heart into it you

[21:41] made you made it so memorable um and I

[21:44] can't thank you guys enough for that um

[21:46] I'm also thankful that God allowed us um

[21:49] or allowed me to come I'm thankful God

[21:50] allowed all of us to come it wouldn't

[21:52] have been fun if there weren't every

[21:53] single one of us um I'm glad God allowed

[21:57] me to come there were kind of some

[21:58] obstacles leading up to it and I prayed

[22:00] and I'm thankful that he gave me the

[22:02] opportunity to go um and he really used

[22:06] this week to change me and uplift me in

[22:12] some incredible ways um we also had a

[22:15] lot of fun so I'm just going to share

[22:17] some activities that we enjoyed and then

[22:19] I'm really going to get into what

[22:20] matters which is what spiritually

[22:21] touched me but um I was joking with my

[22:24] friends beforehand that I was going to

[22:27] be their mom friend this week um and I

[22:31] gained that title about two hours into

[22:34] our trip because I had everything they

[22:37] need in my purse and I have not emptied

[22:40] it out yet so if you guys need anything

[22:42] I probably have it

[22:45] um probably probably my favorite

[22:48] activity was Hurricane Harbor um this

[22:50] year I was able to go on a lot of slides

[22:53] that I was not confident enough to go on

[22:56] last year um but the adal took hold of

[22:59] me and we kind of split off into groups

[23:01] and I really enjoyed time with Mary um

[23:03] the two of us got to go on some crazy

[23:06] slides and have great conversations in

[23:08] the wave pool which is quite contrary to

[23:11] the guys who started a fight club in the

[23:13] wave pool but every year it's

[23:18] tradition and then I also

[23:21] um enjoyed every year we enjoy Frontier

[23:24] City last year I wouldn't touch any of

[23:29] the crazy rides with a 10- foot pole but

[23:33] Wy

[23:35] Eli

[23:37] Malachi Gabe Micah okay these the

[23:41] perfect example of peer pressure perfect

[23:43] example because I was still considering

[23:46] whether or not I wanted to go and the

[23:49] second we walked into the park they

[23:51] asked me if I wanted to go on the brain

[23:52] drain with

[23:54] them if you don't know what this is it's

[23:57] like an eight story tall Circle and you

[24:01] can kind of imagine what that does um it

[24:05] was the most terrifying experience of my

[24:07] entire life and it was awesome so

[24:10] awesome I went

[24:12] twice the second time kind of ruined the

[24:16] rest of the afternoon for me and I was

[24:18] completely like emaciated in the car for

[24:20] like the next half hour on the ride home

[24:21] because I was so sick but I would do it

[24:23] again I can't wait to go next year and

[24:25] do it again

[24:27] um so yes that was

[24:30] fabulous activities were fabulous got

[24:32] two hours of sleep was great running on

[24:35] adrenaline and then we had a prank war

[24:37] when we got back which I don't

[24:41] know that was great

[24:43] where you Malachi and

[24:47] Josh better watch your backs I will get

[24:51] back at you for that I did nothing to

[24:53] you and you guys came for me I don't

[24:56] know why anyways

[24:58] be

[25:00] careful as fun as all of that was and as

[25:04] many incredible memories as I

[25:06] made and as much as we looked forward to

[25:09] our activities I would say we were

[25:12] really there for the preaching and I

[25:13] think a lot of us have matured enough

[25:15] that this year we went into it thinking

[25:17] we're going to open our hearts and we're

[25:20] going to listen um and I know I did but

[25:24] I observed all of you as well and you

[25:26] did too and I really saw God move

[25:28] amongst all of us and it was a really

[25:30] beautiful thing to see I think we bonded

[25:32] a lot I think you know we grew together

[25:34] and that's a really precious thing

[25:36] especially when you're young people and

[25:37] you can grow alongside one another

[25:40] and

[25:47] uh brother hetzer and brother Gates

[25:50] brought some really incredible things to

[25:53] the table but I honestly was surprised

[25:57] when some of their most simplest

[25:59] statements were some of their simplest

[26:01] statements excuse me were what really

[26:03] stuck with me and have stuck with me and

[26:05] I cannot shake them from my mind and I

[26:07] pray that it's going to stay that way

[26:09] um I don't know I believe it was first

[26:15] night David

[26:17] hetzer said a statement that I can't get

[26:20] out of my head and he spoke about

[26:22] inviting God to pursue you and he was

[26:25] talking about when God sent Nathan um to

[26:30] pursue David after everything that

[26:32] happened with basba and he sent someone

[26:34] as a go between to pursue him in like a

[26:38] physical aspect because David was so far

[26:41] from God that he couldn't see you know

[26:43] the image of God anymore he needed

[26:45] someone to be like

[26:46] hey get right

[26:50] and from the moment I heard that

[26:53] statement I was asking God every single

[26:57] morning you know even just if I felt my

[27:00] mind wondering or like any kind of

[27:03] confusion or anything coming to my

[27:05] thoughts that I was like this is not I

[27:06] shouldn't be thinking about this right

[27:07] now this is not right I throughout the

[27:09] week would ask God please can you pursue

[27:13] me I'm inviting you to pursue me and

[27:14] it's all I want

[27:16] and

[27:21] um it's been an interesting past couple

[27:24] months and I

[27:28] I think

[27:29] I've I saw myself falling into

[27:35] apathy and I think I saw myself falling

[27:39] too far I saw myself as have gone as

[27:42] going too far

[27:43] and brother heads are described as it's

[27:46] not it's not necessarily doing something

[27:48] wicked or being terribly sinful or

[27:50] having a hidden sinner anything like it

[27:51] can literally just

[27:53] be you forgot to read your Bible and

[27:55] then you just don't for like the next

[27:57] week and you you know that I I can say

[28:00] that that has happened to me and it's

[28:02] hard it's hard as a young person

[28:05] sometimes and it's hard

[28:08] when if you don't purs ask God to pursue

[28:11] you the world will pursue you because

[28:12] that's all satan does and

[28:15] I I really was struck with areas in my

[28:18] life that I needed to change and I was

[28:21] like I I don't want to do this anymore I

[28:22] don't want to be this way anymore I

[28:24] don't want to think this way anymore

[28:25] it's really not worth it it's not worth

[28:27] it when you wake up one day and you're

[28:29] just depressed and you have no like Joy

[28:31] like the joy of Christ

[28:33] and and you can get to a point where

[28:36] you're just sick and tired of being sick

[28:37] and tired and God is always there to

[28:38] lift you up and he'll never say that

[28:40] you've gone too far for to reach out to

[28:44] him and that really um really affected

[28:48] me and I you know was able to get over

[28:50] some situations I needed to and forgive

[28:52] some people I needed to and

[28:55] and I just felt fresh I felt healed I

[28:59] felt free and that's why God is so good

[29:05] um another statement I believe he said

[29:07] was that God wants you to know his will

[29:10] more than you want to know his will and

[29:13] the more I think about it it makes so

[29:15] much sense to me because our will is our

[29:17] identity and God is rooting for us he or

[29:20] excuse me not our will but his will for

[29:22] our life is our ident like our ultimate

[29:24] identity he knows who we we are he knows

[29:27] he knew that from the second he created

[29:28] us until so he constantly wants us to

[29:30] find it and pursue it and once we get

[29:32] there we'll be in a relationship with

[29:35] him that he desires and that's what like

[29:39] brother

[29:39] Gates

[29:41] um touched on this and I believe it's

[29:44] the last sermon and he spoke about Simon

[29:46] of sirene and he said that you know

[29:48] there are a lot of Scholars who might

[29:50] say that oh we needed Simon sirene to

[29:53] carry the cross or else God wouldn't

[29:55] have been able to get up like the rest

[29:56] of the Hill that is ridic ridiculous

[29:58] because if he couldn't do that then he

[29:59] wouldn't be all powerful and he wouldn't

[30:01] be Christ and then and then what does

[30:03] the bible mean to you why would you

[30:04] think that and

[30:06] and he said a statement that God doesn't

[30:11] need us but he wants us and that's what

[30:14] was so mindblowing to me that I'm

[30:18] literally

[30:21] nothing and God wants me right and I

[30:25] don't know I said it it's the simplest

[30:28] things it's the simplest things and you

[30:29] grow up learning them and you know them

[30:31] and you have them ingrained in your mind

[30:32] but sometimes they're so ingrained in

[30:33] your mind that they've almost become I

[30:36] don't

[30:37] know you're so used to it that you can

[30:40] no

[30:42] longer understand the gravity of it he

[30:45] wants us like that is incredible um and

[30:49] I just can't oh it's so wonderful and it

[30:54] just made me feel so

[30:59] scene I don't know I can't explain it

[31:03] um my words are all jumbled tonight I

[31:05] would have liked to be able to say this

[31:07] smoother and I have a lot of things that

[31:08] I kind of want to say and I think we all

[31:10] kind of do um I tend to prattle

[31:13] on I think I'm just so excited that I

[31:15] don't know how to say how good it was

[31:18] but I'd like to encourage any of you you

[31:20] know if you didn't get to go and you

[31:22] want to go next year please come it will

[31:24] change your life um but not just that

[31:28] God can change your life now like it

[31:30] doesn't have to be anything huge it

[31:31] doesn't have to be some big experience

[31:33] or some big HBL you can just invite him

[31:38] to pursue you

[31:40] daily

[31:42] hourly and I like to think that you know

[31:44] every time I ask him that or every time

[31:46] one of us ask him that he's just

[31:48] overwhelmed with joy because he doesn't

[31:50] need us but he wants us and for him to

[31:53] see us want

[31:55] him must be

[31:59] must be beautiful so thank you for your

[32:12] time well it was a blessing to get to go

[32:15] this year uh I want to thank the

[32:16] Underwoods for taking us uh without them

[32:19] we probably wouldn't have been able to

[32:20] go but they uh took time and took us and

[32:23] it was just it was really fun I just

[32:25] want to throw this out there um the

[32:28] prank wars was going to be between the

[32:31] guys but then one night we stepped out

[32:34] of the van and all the girls had Silly

[32:36] String and decided to just get all the

[32:39] guys except for the two that ran away

[32:41] really fast and didn't get touched but

[32:44] so Malachi and I and some other guys

[32:46] took it upon ourselves to take it the

[32:48] rest of the stuff we had we had an air

[32:50] horn that Wy brought and then we had

[32:54] some I don't know if you've heard but

[32:56] they're called snaps so we took like a

[32:59] handful and gathered all the girls in

[33:02] one place was like hey y'all got to see

[33:04] this and then we just threw them against

[33:05] the wall and it made a loud pop and they

[33:07] all screamed and it was just great

[33:09] because that's what they get they

[33:11] started it technically so I just want to

[33:13] throw this out there it wasn't us it was

[33:15] them okay um but anyway it was it was

[33:19] really fun to get to go this year um

[33:22] this year was my first year to get a go

[33:24] as a young adult as a college student so

[33:27] I got to go to the College and Career

[33:28] class that they had during the sessions

[33:31] and it was really good because they

[33:33] spoke directly to young adults they SP

[33:36] spoke directly to college students and

[33:38] uh it was really a blessing because out

[33:41] us getting out of the Youth Department

[33:42] and everything they spoke to us and it

[33:44] wasn't uh meant

[33:47] for how do I say it wasn't meant for

[33:50] like how you are in the Youth Department

[33:51] it's meant for you how to start your

[33:53] life and how to help you

[33:54] grow but overall it was just really fun

[33:57] to get to go uh get a fun it was pretty

[34:00] fun to hang out with everybody have good

[34:02] Fellowship um the activities were fun uh

[34:07] nobody else has said it so far I'm gonna

[34:09] get in trouble for saying it but the

[34:11] food was good the food was really good

[34:14] I'm just kidding um but uh overall I

[34:17] just I had a blast

[34:20] I the messages really spoke to my heart

[34:23] because it gets you to if you have an

[34:25] open heart and you pay attention it'll

[34:27] get you to change your perspective on

[34:28] things it'll get you to uh focus on what

[34:32] you need to focus on it'll get you to

[34:34] help on what's going on throughout your

[34:36] life and it was a blessing to get to go

[34:39] um like Wy was saying we did have a two

[34:42] and a half hour basketball game super

[34:44] late at night stupid uh I'm just kidding

[34:47] it was fun but it wasn't fun in the

[34:51] morning but uh it was good to see

[34:55] everybody and uh when we got back we got

[35:38] that way and uh brother hetzer uh said

[35:42] he didn't notice the sign and he walked

[35:44] in and he sat on the doggy beach side

[35:46] and um over a couple hours there were

[35:49] just dogs everywhere and he didn't even

[35:51] realize that like why are there so many

[35:54] dogs here and then he turned around and

[35:56] he saw the sign

[35:58] and

[36:00] he he saw just over on the other side no

[36:05] dogs just people were and one of the

[36:08] statements he said it's not enough just

[36:10] to know where you're at you got to make

[36:12] the move you got to make the choice to

[36:15] go to the other side you got to make the

[36:16] choice to move your seat um it's not

[36:20] enough just to know you're in sin it's

[36:22] not enough just to know you're in the

[36:24] wrong spot you have to make the choice

[36:26] to move your seat and to get up and it's

[36:29] it's difficult but it spoke to a lot of

[36:32] our teenagers and it spoke to a lot of

[36:33] our college students and myself because

[36:37] this world's not getting any better and

[36:40] it's it's encouraging to us because we

[36:42] got it's up to us to make a stand we got

[38:06] every opportunity that I could I would

[38:08] uh you know go every Sunday morning

[38:10] Sunday afternoon Wednesday afternoon go

[38:12] to choir I loved it um but and I also

[38:17] had you know a few people that I would

[38:19] you know come back to see because I just

[38:21] love seeing them like there was I had

[38:22] two best friends one of them stopped

[38:24] going I was like it's okay you know I

[38:25] still got my other one here stopped

[38:27] going it's okay I still got all these

[38:29] other teens that I'm friends with some

[38:31] of them stopped going and uh I was like

[38:35] it's okay but then um my aunt's funeral

[38:39] was held here and ever since that I just

[38:42] had a hard time coming back

[38:45] and that's why I was gone for a little

[38:48] bit for those who know me and um after

[38:52] that point I just tried find myself in

[38:54] other churches but I just couldn't um

[38:56] I'd come back to to visit this one but I

[38:58] still just you know wouldn't have the

[39:00] easiest time paying attention to any of

[39:02] the

[39:03] services um and then it gotten to the

[39:06] point where there was just a whole month

[39:08] I just didn't even go to church and then

[39:10] there was last Sunday night where uh I

[39:15] heard there uh I went the morning and

[39:17] then I heard I got invited to go play

[39:19] board games on the afternoon church so I

[39:22] was like you know might as well I mean

[39:24] it can be fun and then I heard uh a lot

[39:27] of testimonies about uh how other people

[39:33] uh also had a struggle with their walk

[39:35] with the Lord and I was like wow I

[39:38] thought I was the only one but no it's

[39:41] it's a common thing so after that um

[39:44] I've also

[39:46] been uh you know keeping some Bible

[39:48] verses close to me like Matthew 7:7

[39:50] asking it will be given seek and you

[39:52] will find knock and the door will be

[39:54] open to you uh

[39:58] whenever I went to church that afternoon

[40:01] I uh and I heard all the testimonies I

[40:04] felt like I just needed to do something

[40:06] like something was like just pulling me

[40:08] towards something so I I see all the

[40:10] teens and the young adults uh grouped up

[40:13] over there I'm like wonder what's going

[40:14] on over there so I go over there to see

[40:15] what's happening and I hear they talk

[40:17] about youthcon and that's where I'm like

[40:20] you know I didn't really want to go this

[40:23] year because I just wasn't in the right

[40:25] mindset but just someone was pulling at

[40:27] me just you know

[40:30] knock and just ask you know you already

[40:33] you know sought yourself over there you

[40:36] SE now it's time for you to knock so I

[40:39] asked brother Jesse is it too late for

[40:42] me to go I was like it was two days

[40:44] before it even happened but I asked and

[40:46] I was just so willing to just throw

[40:48] everything like I at first I thought it

[40:49] was $200 to go I was ready to pull out

[40:52] $200 for my savings I was just ready um

[40:56] I only ended up being uh 150 160

[41:00] uh and uh but after that he uh he said

[41:04] that try our best to see what we can do

[41:07] so then after that uh went home and

[41:10] that's where I just kept asking I kept

[41:11] praying Lord please I felt like I just

[41:14] need this to just

[41:16] rekindle like something you know CU I

[41:19] just felt so lost for so long and I uh

[41:24] next day I got the news I was able to go

[41:26] uh very excited about that um so then

[41:30] yeah I was able to go and then one of

[41:32] the first services that they gave up

[41:33] there was and y'all heard I believe Josh

[41:36] and kanton bring it up the wet dog one

[41:38] where um you know the guy he spent a

[41:40] long time looking for a good parking

[41:42] spot and then he uh you know once he got

[41:46] there went to the beach started seeing a

[41:49] lot of dogs appearing and all that uh

[41:52] and then once uh someone asked that guy

[41:56] to you know if they have like a dog bag

[41:58] for you know you know

[42:02] uh uh that's when he

[42:04] realized I'm at the wrong Beach you know

[42:07] there's so many dogs here I want a nice

[42:10] clean Beach so he looks to his right

[42:12] nice clean Beach no

[42:14] dogs no need for dog bags just clean

[42:19] nice Beach so that's when he was like

[42:22] you know what it's time for me to pack

[42:24] my stuff move my umbrella my chair my

[42:57] least for me it was asking a question if

[42:59] I go to youthcon to really just try to

[43:02] make a difference in my

[43:05] path and then after that um the next day

[43:09] we had a service about uh Starbucks

[43:11] Coffee um it was the day I forgot to

[43:13] bring my Bible and my notes so I

[43:15] couldn't write notes so I can't tell you

[43:17] too much about it because I don't

[43:18] remember too much about it but

[43:21] um what I got from it is that I um

[43:27] I just haven't been you know again like

[43:29] not the best on my path and there's a

[43:34] verse James

[43:36] 4:4 um Christians who choose to continue

[43:40] to live according to the wisdom of the

[43:42] world driven by Envy and ambition

[43:44] seeking what they want above all else

[43:47] are not living as friends of God um and

[43:52] I I just held that verse with me for a

[43:54] little while until you know the day they

[43:56] was Starbucks service and that's

[43:58] whenever

[44:07] but just feel like I need to do better

[44:32] crying and I went to start praying you

[44:34] know whenever everybody else starts

[44:35] praying and I I just couldn't pray like

[44:37] I was just in tears I couldn't do

[44:39] anything I couldn't say anything I

[44:40] couldn't think anything and that's when

[44:42] uh brother Josh and I thank brother Josh

[44:44] for this ho hopped over the seat and

[44:47] came to just basically pray for me and

[44:52] it's just crazy and phenomenal to me how

[44:54] much he just he knew like everything

[44:58] that I was just going through and he

[45:00] said all the right words knew how much I

[45:01] was struggling and knew that I just

[45:03] wanted to come back and he just prayed

[45:05] for me and it really helped me a lot

[45:08] made me realize that you know by

[45:12] asking that

[45:13] question by you know showing up to

[45:16] youthcon taking out of my savings to

[45:19] pay I slowly

[45:22] rekindled my relationship with the Lord

[45:27] my hand being the Lord um

[45:31] and uh I made a decision I'm going to

[45:33] let the Lord pursue me because just for

[45:36] so long I've just went wanting to you

[45:41] know please the world and not the Lord

[53:55] emotions what a person wants is their

[53:59] will and your thoughts are where the

[54:03] spiritual Battleground

[54:07] is now I don't know if you fully

[54:11] comprehend how powerful your thought

[54:14] life can be so I want to highlight a

[54:18] couple scriptures and again last week

[54:21] and this week it's going to be a shorter

[54:23] message it's not going to be a long one

[54:27] but I want you to take your Bibles leave

[54:41] spirit which is your god conscious you

[55:05] 17 verse number 11 job says my days are

[55:11] passed my purposes are broken off even

[55:16] the thoughts of my

[55:21] heart so job's thoughts produce

[55:25] something look at verse

[55:28] 12 they change the night into day and

[55:35] the light is short because of

[55:41] Darkness look at that verse again they

[55:45] Chang the night into day and the light

[55:49] is short because of

[55:52] Darkness job's thought life a affected

[55:57] how he saw day and

[56:00] night job's

[56:02] thoughts affected him in such a way that

[56:06] it changed how he perceived day and

[56:10] night don't you tell me your thoughts

[56:12] aren't

[56:13] powerful they are very powerful a man in

[56:16] the Bible named job it affected how he

[56:18] saw day and night it affected him in

[56:22] such a way that just his thoughts now if

[56:26] a person's thoughts can have that much

[56:29] of an impact on them

[56:32] spiritually it would be cautious of us

[56:36] to bring into captivity every thought

[56:39] for our spiritual

[56:40] life but also your thoughts affect you

[56:46] emotionally so if you don't bring into

[56:49] captivity your thoughts your emotions

[56:51] could run

[56:53] wild if you don't bring into captivity

[56:56] your your thoughts you can

[56:58] physically be

[57:00] affected by your thought

[57:03] life spiritually emotionally and

[57:05] physically why do you think Satan so

[57:08] hard at attacking the mind because it is

[57:11] a Battleground that emotionally

[57:14] physically and spiritually can have an

[57:16] effect on you now remember this Satan

[57:19] cannot read your mind but he can put

[57:24] thoughts there and watch this

[57:26] see if

[57:29] you respond to the thoughts by observing

[57:34] your actions and your be emotional

[57:39] Behavior Satan cannot read your mind but

[57:42] he can put thoughts there and see if you

[57:44] respond to the thoughts by observing

[57:47] your emotions and your resulting

[57:52] actions Satan is very good we talked

[57:56] about him as the adversary this morning

[58:11] put up a guard to guard our thoughts

[58:21] what brings emotions about in your life

[58:27] life in other words he sets a trap and

[58:33] explode he watches to see how you'll

[58:37] respond now if you and I will bring into

[58:41] captivity those

[60:07] prepared to understand that our thoughts

[60:11] cannot just be whatever they want to be

[60:16] we got to bring them into captivity to

[60:18] The Obedience of Christ you cannot let

[60:35] scroll hours go by of mindless

[60:43] scrolling they don't even know what

[60:46] they're looking

[61:05] pursues the world pursues just as we

[61:08] heard God pursues us the world pursues

[61:13] us so the world

[61:16] sees an algorithm

[61:19] possibility to put some things in your

[61:23] scrolling that would be a temptation

[61:27] now there's no temptation taking you but

[61:29] such as is common to man but God is

[61:32] faithful who not Ser to be tempted above

[61:34] your able but will with that tempation

[61:36] also make a way of Escape that ye may be

[61:39] able to Bear your mindless scrolling

[62:50] opinion of how you think things ought to

[62:53] go and just because they didn't go that

[62:56] way it's produced feelings in

[62:59] you your emotions affect how you feel

[63:03] and how you feel affects how you act and

[63:06] it all starts in your thought

[63:17] 24 said to God search me oh God and know

[63:22] my thoughts

[63:27] the first thing he asked God to search

[63:29] was his

[63:33] thoughts would you give God permission

[63:36] to search your thoughts

[63:39] tonight search me oh God and know my

[63:44] thoughts and what's he say

[63:47] next search me oh God and know my

[63:51] thoughts try me and see if there' be any

[63:54] wicked way in and Lead Me in the way

[63:59] Everlasting the thoughts are the first

[64:03] searches would you give God permission

[64:08] thoughts would you let God pursue

[65:16] thoughts we will do things we ought not

[65:18] to do because we don't consider our

[65:22] thoughts our emotions can over overwhelm

[65:28] us our feelings can be bigger than

[65:32] us what you think affects how you feel

[65:35] and how you feel affects how you act it

[65:38] all starts with your thought life that

[66:03] Isaiah 55:7 let the wicked forsake his

[66:10] let him return unto the Lord and He will

[66:22] are your ways my ways saith the Lord

[66:28] for as the heavens are higher than the

[67:51] you've taken inventory of your thoughts

[67:59] recognize that you got a thought

[68:08] Christian walk how discouraged you can

[68:12] feel how discouraged you can be

[68:14] physically how wore down you can be

[68:17] physically now listen if you're emotions

[68:22] thoughts are not right you cannot make

[68:26] Godly decisions when you're emotionally

[68:28] upside

[68:30] down you cannot make Godly decisions

[68:33] when you're emotionally upside

[68:36] down you've got to bring into captivity

[68:39] those thoughts you say well how do you

[68:40] know that because his thoughts are not

[68:42] our thoughts and his ways are not our

[68:45] ways we have to bring into captivity our

[68:55] ought to make sure it's God's

[68:59] decision before you make a Godly

[69:27] refrigerator but I got a text from

[69:30] Starbucks that I can get buy one get one

[69:32] free

[69:36] Starbucks decision process

[69:40] begins my thought says carel

[69:44] macchiato

[69:47] Americano not only did it say buy one

[69:49] get one free it said buy one get one

[69:51] free of any

[69:53] size not just the little on

[69:56] but the big

[69:58] one but I got to remember my $20 in my

[70:02] pocket there's no groceries in there so

[70:04] I could get my iced coffee and I could

[70:07] say I even bought my wife

[70:11] one I got it for free but I bought her

[70:15] one and I could take it home to her and

[70:19] say here is your ice coffee oh you're so

[70:22] sweet

[70:25] what groceries you pick up at the

[70:26] grocery

[70:28] store I didn't I got you ice coffee

[70:34] instead and she'd say thanks for the

[70:36] iced coffee but what about the

[70:39] kids I wasn't thinking about

[70:43] them now you're laughing and it's a

[70:46] humorous

[70:48] illustration however if we respond

[70:51] impulsively to what God wants to do and

[70:55] it's just our feelings and our emotions

[70:57] in response we can be in a danger

[71:01] zone we have to choose to bring into

[71:04] captivity every thought did your Bible

[71:08] say every thought every thought means

[71:10] every thought bring into captivity every

[71:13] thought to The Obedience of Christ you

[71:16] can't make Godly decisions if you're

[71:18] living in an emotionally upside down

[71:23] World why are your emot all upside down

[71:26] because your thought life's not

[71:28] right your thought life affects how you

[71:31] feel now I

[71:33] know I know there are times when

[71:36] physical things are affecting your

[71:39] emotions I've got five kids I know there

[71:44] are have been at least five times in my

[71:46] wife's life where there were things

[71:49] outside of her thoughts that were

[71:51] affecting how she feeled

[71:56] and there are times in our life it is

[71:59] not always our thoughts that are

[72:02] affecting our emotions sometimes there

[72:03] are other outside circumstances that can

[72:06] do that but many times we need to check

[72:08] to make sure our thought life's right

[72:11] before we act upon those emotions that

[72:14] we

[72:15] feel because just because you think it

[72:17] doesn't mean it came from

[72:20] God just because you think it doesn't

[72:23] mean it came from you

[72:26] it could be a

[72:29] dart that Satan threw toward your mind

[72:33] to watch it explode and see how you're

[72:37] going to respond to that and he gets out

[72:41] his notepad for your life and he writes

[72:45] it down let's see what

[72:47] happens woo that one worked put in

[72:52] Arsenal let me try this one

[72:56] that one didn't really take root try

[72:58] again later I'm me try this one oh that

[73:55] and they didn't

[74:03] up he's not giving up he's going to try

[74:08] things that we got to consider before

[74:09] we're done tonight it could be Lo

[74:11] lustful thoughts that you

[74:14] battle it could be envious thoughts that

[74:17] you battle it could be false statements

[74:21] about God that you

[74:24] battle it could be replay from past life

[74:28] experiences that you battle and you let

[74:32] them replay from your past and your past

[74:36] is affecting your

[74:37] present and God came to give you life

[74:40] and life more abundantly choose not to

[74:42] hit

[74:44] play Don't replay

[74:49] it 2 Corinthians chapter

[74:53] 10 verse verse number four the weapons

[74:58] of our Warfare are not

[75:02] what the weapons of our Warfare are not

[75:06] carnal But Mighty through God to the

[75:11] pulling down of strongholds you may have

[75:13] thought patterns that have happened in

[75:14] your life so often that it's taken over

[75:17] territory in your mind a stronghold is

[75:20] an enemy ground that they're holding in

[75:23] a place that doesn't belong to them and

[75:26] the power of God can tear down that

[75:29] stronghold in your

[75:33] mind a man who has an addiction to

[75:37] pornography needs accountability

[75:39] software on all his

[75:42] devices needs blocking on all his

[75:47] devices

[75:50] amen so he can resist the temptation and

[75:53] he can have accountability when when he

[75:55] gives into

[75:57] temptation he needs that there why

[76:00] because there's a stronghold there

[76:01] that's been built by Satan there's a

[76:04] stronghold of lust in the mind and

[76:08] listen some of us have let strongholds

[76:11] from the past take territory that God

[76:14] never intended for it to have you are a

[76:18] product of your past but it's not the

[76:20] final

[76:22] product because Christ is working in you

[76:26] and he which hath begun a good work in

[76:28] you is

[76:30] faithful to complete it let him do the

[76:36] work and let him tear down that

[76:40] stronghold it could be a thought pattern

[76:43] of what

[76:44] ifs what if this or what if that or what

[76:47] if this or what if that or I

[76:50] wonder I wonder what it would be like to

[76:53] be married to that person I wonder what

[76:55] it' be like to be married to that person

[76:57] why would you be thinking

[77:01] that why why would you go there why

[77:05] would you think

[77:07] that ask yourself why am I thinking

[77:11] that what is the purpose of this

[77:14] thought the answer is to draw you away

[77:17] of your own lust and enti you got to

[77:19] bring it into captivity see casting down

[77:22] imaginations every High thing that

[77:24] exalts itself against itself against the

[77:27] knowledge of God and bring into

[77:28] captivity every thought to The Obedience

[77:32] of

[77:33] Christ spiritual warfare begins on the

[77:35] Battlefield of the

[77:38] Mind everybody here is under

[77:42] attack in your mind from Satan and his

[77:47] forces and your flesh God's ways are not

[77:51] our ways his thoughts are not our

[77:52] thoughts but we ought to try to get on

[77:54] the same page as God how do we do that I

[77:58] bring into captivity every thought to

[78:00] The Obedience of Christ would you bow

[78:04] heads take thought of your thoughts take

[78:06] note of the actions and the feelings as

[78:08] we've come through the

[78:10] week do you recognize you got a thought

[78:13] problem do you recognize that your

[78:15] thinking has been under attack do you

[78:19] recognize that there's a danger zone in

[78:22] your life about your thoughts

[78:26] life let me ask you tonight how many

[78:28] would say Pastor I

[78:30] recognize my thought Life's a danger

[78:32] zone my thought Life's a

[78:35] battlefield I recognize it tonight

[78:37] Pastor would you pray for me if that's

[78:40] you slip your hands up and put it back

[78:47] realized your thought life's the

[78:49] battlefield now move your

[78:52] seat move your seat from the dark Beach

[82:38] morning um their oldest daughter she's

[82:41] dealing right now she's in a time in her

[82:43] life where she's been having a lot of

[82:45] seizures and early this morning she had

[82:47] another one and so be in prayer for her

[82:51] um I guess Mom says it's part of this

[82:54] stage of life it gets agitated more and

[82:57] so you pray for her I think it was like

[82:59] 2 o'cl this morning having a seizure

[83:01] dealing with that so you pray for her

[83:03] that God would Cal him he can he's able

[83:08] and if he chooses not to that he can

[83:10] help her grow through it and endure

[83:12] through it so but pray for them

[83:14] especially her and so uh here in just a

[83:17] moment we'll have a dismissal s want to

[83:19] encourage you to come by and welcome

[83:21] them U you say where were they at last

[83:23] they were at Family Camp last week they

[83:25] went to Camp as a family and were're

[83:26] there and so we've been talking for a

[83:28] while about this so we're excited for

[83:30] them and what the Lord's doing in their

[83:32] heart but pray especially for their

[83:33] family and the health situations going

[83:35] on there uh I want to encourage you

[83:37] Wednesday night be in the Lord's House

[83:39] continuing our series on prayer and

[83:41] looking forward to a great time this

[83:43] coming Wednesday and uh if you were here

[83:45] this past Wednesday I know a lot were at

[83:47] youthcon uh we preached on praying for

[83:50] parents it's essential

[83:54] so our prayer folus has been praying for

[83:56] parents parents praying for themselves

[83:59] and for their kids but also other people

[84:02] praying for parents because they're

[84:03] raising the Next Generation and they

[84:05] need your prayer and so praying for

[84:08] parents this week so I hope uh as you go

[84:11] home this week um twice this week two

[84:16] different families God put on my heart

[84:18] at different times two different sets of

[84:21] parents so I stopped in my day two

[84:23] different times and prayed for that

[84:25] specific set of parents so I don't know

[84:28] of anything that happened specifically

[84:30] during that time but God put them on my

[84:32] heart so I stopped and prayed for them

[84:34] so I encourage you like I mentioned

[84:35] Wednesday if God puts a set of parents

[84:38] on your heart to pray for in that moment

[84:40] pray for them because they probably need

[84:42] it so pray for them in that moment young

[84:45] people that weren't here during youth

[84:47] con I want to make a statement that I

[84:48] made on Wednesday night that you have to

[84:51] know and have to learn it'll help you

[84:54] your parents you have the opportunity

[84:56] while you're young to watch your parents

[84:59] grow

[85:01] up I want you to think about it for a

[85:03] minute you are having the opportunity

[85:05] while you're young to watch your parents

[85:06] grow up your parents are learning how to

[85:09] parent with

[85:11] you and you get the opportunity to watch

[85:14] your parents grow up so those that are

[85:16] the oldest like me I'm the oldest child

[85:19] we understand that the baby gets a lot

[85:21] of sympathy and it's not right and it's

[85:26] fair but it happens because your parents

[85:29] are growing up with you some of you that

[85:31] are the baby like you don't know what

[85:36] yourself in our heart dwelleth no good

[85:57] ladies conference I heard they had a
