[0:02] More US jets to the Balkans. The US revs
[0:05] up the air war against Yugoslavia. What
[0:08] life is like in America for the last
[0:11] refugees out of that region. Cleaning up
[0:13] the tornado damage in the Midwest. And
[0:16] the revolution that will get you out of
[0:19] the grocery store.
[0:22] This is the CBS Evening News
[0:26] with John Roberts.
[0:29] Good evening. Day 18 of the crisis over
[0:32] Kosovo has NATO asking for
[0:34] reinforcements with no sign that it is
[0:36] even close to achieving its goals in
[0:38] Yugoslavia. The US has ordered up 82
[0:41] more warplanes to join the conflict,
[0:43] mostly radar jamming and support
[0:45] aircraft. Slob and Mallosvich upped his
[0:48] defiant rhetoric on this orthodox
[0:50] Easter, calling on Serbs to work harder
[0:52] to resist NATO. Bad weather turned back
[0:55] three out of four bombing missions
[0:57] today, but US satellites do appear to
[0:59] have found thousands of refugees hiding
[1:02] out in Kosovo. The United Nations says
[1:06] more than a half million refugees have
[1:08] been driven from Kosovo, but just as
[1:10] many Kosvar Albanians are still
[1:12] unaccounted for. Today, US spy
[1:15] satellites may have found some of them
[1:17] riding it out, trying to survive inside
[1:20] Kosovo. Mark Phillips has the latest.
[1:24] About 1,500 Kosovo refugees crossed over
[1:27] into Albania this morning. The first to
[1:30] do so since Yugoslavia closed the border
[1:32] 4 days ago. They were all from the same
[1:35] village and said they had tried to stay,
[1:37] but that they were forced from their
[1:39] homes by Serb police yesterday,
[1:41] indicating that ethnic cleansing is
[1:43] still underway. Several thousand more
[1:45] from adjacent villages were reported
