[0:01] a hurricane warning is in effect winds
[0:05] increasing to near hurricane Force
[0:06] Saturday and Saturday night Saturday
[0:09] morning August hurricane Allen is
[0:11] forecast to land just north of
[0:13] Brownsville Texas with winds in excess
[0:15] of 110 miles an hour well below its
[0:17] earlier force of 180 but extremely
[0:19] dangerous nevertheless driving south
[0:22] from Houston the following day we
[0:23] started picking up the storm's Fringe
[0:25] hours before reaching Corpus Christi
[0:27] squalls of up to 55 miles an hour
[0:29] reduced visibility to near zero and made
[0:32] traveling hazardous at best our plan was
[0:34] to get as close to the coast as possible
[0:36] on the way into Corpus Christi the storm
[0:38] though had other ideas tides in the area
[0:41] were the highest since 1919 and there
[0:43] was widespread flooding cutting off most
[0:46] access roads into the city this is not
[0:48] by any means the worst of the storm
[0:50] we're trying to get into Corpus Christi
[0:52] but as you can see the road is
[0:53] completely blocked for the two miles
[0:55] into town this
[0:56] tie this is not a storm surge storm
[0:59] surge is actually much worse as far as
[1:01] the distraction it's not near as bad as
[1:04] Celia was but we do have a good bit more
[1:07] rain
[1:08] and uh
[1:10] and other than that there hadn't been
[1:12] too much stuff tore up there's quite a
[1:14] few trees uprooted and power lines that
[1:16] are down in places but uh other than
[1:18] that it's not near as bad as Celia seems
[1:20] to be there'd be some concern her
