[0:44] Confronted. They're accused of Panet's

[0:46] ex-wife of stalking them. The ex-wife's

[0:48] body was found in a home shortly after

[0:50] the program aired. It was taped back in

[0:52] May. A spokeswoman for the show calls

[0:54] the incident, quote, "A terrible

[0:56] tragedy." Conflict and confrontation are

[0:59] the stuff most talked about on the TV

[1:01] shows This Summer, Survivor and Big

[1:02] Brother. Watching the Castaways and The

[1:04] Housemates deal with adversity and

[1:06] dealing with each other, has verged on a

[1:08] national obsession. Joining us now to

[1:10] talk about the impact of Survivor and

[1:12] Big Brother are the uh the contestants.

[1:15] We have Barry Glassner, who's a

[1:16] professor of sociology at USC and the

[1:18] author of the book Culture of Fear.

[1:21] Lieberman is an assistant professor of

[1:23] psychology at UCLA and sociology and

[1:25] psychology really come into the mix
