[0:00] Thank you.

[0:04] [music]

[0:04] >> Good evening everyone. I'm Darren Gersh

[0:07] and I'm standing at one of history's

[0:09] biggest building projects, the Great

[0:11] Wall of China. Thousands of miles long,

[0:14] this ancient wall was an epic feat of

[0:16] engineering. But what's going on in

[0:18] China right now dwarfs even this in size

[0:21] and scope. China is building and

[0:24] changing more now than in its entire

[0:26] 5,000 years of history. So, we'd like to

[0:29] introduce you to some of the people who

[0:31] are making that change happen. They come

[0:33] from very different walks of life. They

[0:35] live in very different parts of the

[0:36] country and they face very different

[0:38] challenges, but all of them are part of

[1:12] keep up would be familiar in Boise or

[1:15] >> Maybe

[1:17] [laughter]

[1:18] like to yeah I mean to have a bigger

[1:20] house to have nice cars [snorts]

[1:23] >> and uh you know to have more free time

[1:28] to just to maybe for ourselves to to do

[1:32] traveling and

[1:33] >> Jackie is a business consultant Alan a

[1:35] lawyer they share their two-bedroom

[1:37] apartment with Jackie's parents who've

[1:39] left behind a very different life in

[1:41] Hunan province we came from the villages

[1:44] we were peasants our children studied

[1:46] very hard all we could to provide our

[1:49] children with the best education. We

[1:51] wanted them to be successful. As

[1:53] parents, we wanted them to become

[1:54] pi
