[0:01] News is always on CBS4.com.
[0:07] Good Friday morning to you, South
[0:08] Florida. Good to be with you as always
[0:10] this morning. I'm Danielle Knuck
[0:11] >> and I'm George Estz. Let's take a look
[0:12] at the stories we're working on this
[0:14] morning.
[0:14] >> A community is on alert.
[0:18] professional. Florida Metropolitan
[0:20] University in the Fort Lauderdale area
[0:22] offers career education in the hot
[0:24] fields of legal and healthcare in
[0:25] addition to programs in accounting,
[0:27] business, computer information science,
[0:28] and criminal justice. Pick up the phone
[0:31] and call the number on your screen right
[0:33] now. This could be the most important
[0:35] call you'll ever make.
[0:44] >> [music]
[0:57] >> When big news breaks, you just got to
[0:59] see it. See it on 7
[1:06] [music]
[1:07] live from the news station. This is
[1:10] Today in Florida.
[1:14] >> This morning at 5:00, trouble brewing in
[1:16] the Caribbean. And Alita is going to
[1:17] tell you [music] what that means for the
[1:19] weekend forecast.
[1:20] >> Police searching for suspects instead
[1:22] end up in the [music] hospital with
[1:24] gunshot wounds.
[1:25] >> A mother walking in on this man and
[1:26] allegedly witnessing the unthinkable.
[1:29] >> An animal on the attack and the victim
[1:30] now [music] facing rabies concerned.
[1:35] And as the fighting in the Middle East
[1:37] intensifies, Israel calls up more of its
[1:39] troops. Good morning, South Florida. I'm
[1:42] Richard Leis.
[1:42] >> Good morning. [music] I'm Diana Diaz. We
[1:44] begin this morning with a look at a wave
[1:46] which is now just a day away from us.
[1:48] >> Seven's Alita Lores is here and she's
[1:50] got the details. Good morning, Alita.
[1:51] >> Good morning, Richard. Good morning,
[1:52] everybody. That's right. It looks like
[1:53] we are going to see some changes around
[1:55] here for the weekend. We've been awfully
[1:57] dry the last couple of days, but doesn't
[1:59] look like this wave is going to stick
[2:00] around for very long. Right now,
[2:01] temperatures are in the low to mid 80s.
[2:03] Let's get you started off out the door
[2:05] this morning. A few clouds around the
[2:07] area, but generally mostly clear skies
[2:09] and as far as the radar's concerned,
[2:11] nice and dry conditions. We did see some
[2:12] overnight showers right around the lower
[2:14] keys that did prompt some special
[2:16] warnings around that area. Most of the
[2:18] showers have dissipated. Good deal of
[2:19] sunshine once again for your Friday. If
[2:22] you've like our trend the last four
[2:24] days, the weather pattern not changing
[2:25] for your Friday, but by Saturday, we are
[2:28] watching this wave right now stretching
[2:29] from the southeastern Bahamas all the
[2:31] way down towards southern portions of
[2:32] the Caribbean. It is making its way
[2:34] toward the west northwest at 20 to 25
[2:37] miles per hour. So we have actually
[2:39] upped the wave to Saturday instead of
[2:41] Sunday. So Sunday now being the better
[2:43] day of the two days of the weekend. But
[2:45] this wave is going to bring some
[2:46] moisture around here. Not favorable
[2:48] conditions. I'll have more on this. Plus
[2:50] your 7 on 7 forecast coming up in about
[2:52] 15 minutes.
[2:57] Now at 5:00, [music] one officer shot
[2:59] another graze. They were serving search
[3:02] warrants and all of a sudden ferocious
[3:04] dogs went on the attack. One officer was
[3:06] bitten by a pit bull
[3:08] >> and two others in order to keep from
[3:09] being attacked start shooting the
[3:10] animals. Let's take it out live to 7's
[3:12] Lan Serell who's at Memorial Regional
[3:14] Hospital in Hollywood where one of those
[3:16] officers had to be transported. Good
[3:18] morning, Lan.
[3:18] >> Good morning, Richard. Well, if being
[3:20] bitten by a dog wasn't bad enough, as
[3:22] the officer is trying to get this dog
[3:24] off of his leg, the other officers begin
[3:27] shooting to try and get that dog to
[3:29] release. But it all happened. He got
[3:31] shot in the shin and had to be
[3:33] transported here to Memorial Regional
[3:35] Hospital. But he does have
[3:37] non-lifethreatening injuries. Hollywood
[3:39] police attempting to serve a drug
[3:41] warrant on a man walking outside his
[3:43] home. But when the man notices police,
[3:46] he makes a dash to his front door.
[3:48] That's when out of the door come three
[3:51] pitbulls running straight at the
[3:53] officers.
[3:54] >> One pitbull did attack one of our
[3:56] supervisors, a sergeant. He was uh
[3:59] bitten by the animal. At that point, uh
[4:02] three possibly four officers opened fire
[4:05] on at least two of the pitbulls.
[4:07] >> One of the dogs shot dead on the scene,
[4:10] another shot several times, taken away
[4:12] by animal control and the third running
[4:15] back into the house unharmed. But in all
[4:17] the commotion, a police sergeant also
[4:20] shot in the shin. It's possible the uh
[4:23] the officers that did fire, one of the
[4:25] bullets actually did a through and
[4:26] through through the animal and into the
[4:28] officer's leg. It's possible there was
[4:30] separately went into the officer's leg.
[4:32] It's possible it was a ricochet. Again,
[4:34] it's too too soon to say.
[4:35] >> That sergeant transported to Memorial
[4:37] Regional Hospital in Hollywood with
[4:39] non-life-threatening injuries. Many
[4:42] living in the neighborhood of 63rd
[4:44] Avenue and Dawson Street in Hollywood
[4:46] concerned because around 8:00 Thursday
[4:48] night when all these shots were being
[4:50] fired, children were playing in a park
[4:53] right across the street.
[4:55] >> Surely they were cognizant of that
[4:56] because no officers were discharging
[4:59] their firearms in a southerntherly
[5:00] direction. It was in a westerly
[5:02] direction towards the home.
[5:03] >> Police saying they were forced to shoot
[5:04] at the dogs in self-defense. And at the
[5:07] end of the night, police did get their
[5:10] man. The suspect arrested and taken to
[5:12] jail. Now, in the midst of all this,
[5:15] another police officer was grazed by a
[5:17] bullet, but he was treated on the scene
[5:19] last night and released. We're live in
[5:21] Hollywood this morning. I'm Luan Sell.
[5:23] Today in Florida,
[5:25] also this morning on Today in Florida,
[5:27] Miami's SWAT team in search of armed
[5:30] robbery suspects. Police setting up a
[5:32] perimeter in the area of Northeast 4th
[5:34] Avenue and 79th Street yesterday. After
[5:36] a brief search, one man was caught on
[5:38] the roof of a nearby home and the other
[5:39] was found shortly after. The
[5:41] investigation continues.
[5:43] >> 504 is now the time. And this next story
[5:45] is disturbing. A man arrested after
[5:48] doing the unthinkable. Detectives say
[5:50] 25-year-old Leonard Wiggins raped a
[5:53] six-year-old girl inside her parents'
[5:55] home. The child's mother saying she
[5:57] caught Wiggins in the act.
[5:59] >> She sees the most repugnant thing a
[6:01] parent could see. This is the
[6:03] 25-year-old male raping her six-year-old
[6:06] child.
[6:06] >> That sickens me. I don't think I could
[6:08] ever get over anything like that.
[6:11] >> Well, detectives believe there may be
[6:12] more victims out there, and they're
[6:13] asking that you come forward or call
[6:15] Broward Crimestoppers at the number on
[6:17] your screen. 954493
[6:20] tips.
[6:20] >> A Dana Beach woman in recovery a week
[6:23] after being bitten by a rabid raccoon.
[6:25] Authorities say the animal went on the
[6:27] attack last Friday just as a 49year-old
[6:30] woman climbed the stairs of an apartment
[6:32] complex. The building along Southeast
[6:34] 4th Street at 11th Terrace.
[6:36] >> He lunged at my leg and got a hold of it
[6:38] and bit and wouldn't let go.
[6:41] >> While the raccoon tested positive for
[6:43] rabies, the woman has since been treated
[6:45] with a series of vaccinations. A rabies
[6:48] alert remains in effect for the cities
[6:49] of Cooper City, Davyy, Southwest
[6:52] Ranches, Weston, Dana Beach, Fort
[6:55] Lauderdale, and Hollywood. A water pipe
[6:58] bursting inside Miami International
[7:00] Airport and creating a major mess.
[7:02] There's a hotel inside the airport's
[7:04] concourse E called the Miami
[7:06] International Airport Hotel. According
[7:08] to airport officials, a maintenance
[7:10] worker was fixing a toilet inside a room
[7:12] on the fourth floor when a pipe burst. A
[7:15] water leak affected 45 rooms on the
[7:17] third and fourth floors. Hotel guests
[7:19] were relocated to another hotel while
[7:21] emergency crews worked to dry out the
[7:23] hotel.
[7:24] >> Doing is installing uh dehumidification
[7:26] equipment, preventing mold and mildew,
[7:28] you know, applying air movers and drying
[7:30] the inside of the walls and the whole
[7:32] structural dry out.
[7:34] >> The hotel will probably be back in
[7:36] business in no later than a week.
[7:38] >> A former Miami city manager running into
[7:40] some candidate controversy. A formal
[7:43] challenge filed yesterday by Miami v by
[7:45] a Miami voter in connection with the
[7:47] candidacy of Howard Garry. Gary wants to
[7:50] run for a seat on the Miami date county
[7:51] commission. As 7 News first told you, he
[7:53] claims to be a Miami resident, but he's
[7:55] registered to vote in Broward County.
[7:57] Well, now the inspector general's office
[7:59] will investigate to determine if Gary
[8:00] can stay in that race.
[8:07] An allout aerial assault [music] by
[8:09] Israel. A necessary tactic for an army
[8:12] facing guerrilla warfare.
[8:13] >> But if Hezbollah is intimidated, they're
[8:15] not showing it. Firing rocket after
[8:17] rocket and attacking Israel [music] with
[8:19] a vengeance.
[8:20] >> The death toll in Lebanon and Israel
[8:22] closing in on 500 and the situation
[8:25] seems to be getting worse.
[8:26] >> As seven's Charles Bai tells us,
[8:27] Israel's government is calling up
[8:29] thousands of reserves in case the
[8:31] fighting intensifies.
[8:37] Israel telling the army to call up
[8:39] 30,000 reserve soldiers and put them on
[8:42] standby. Israel concerned the fighting
[8:45] may intensify. And it could now that
[8:48] al-Qaeda has entered the mix. Al-Qaeda's
[8:50] number two man aiming to rally Islamic
[8:53] militants by releasing this videotape to
[8:55] Alazer TV.
[8:57] >> It is a jihad in the name of God until
[8:59] the religion is all for God. Jihad to
[9:01] liberate Palestine. follow Palestine and
[9:04] liberate all the lands that used to be
[9:05] Muslim from Spain to Iraq.
[9:08] >> And Hezbollah is keeping up the fight.
[9:11] More rockets fired into northern Israel,
[9:13] landing for the 16th day at random,
[9:16] injuring scores of civilians as the
[9:18] bodies of nine Israeli soldiers are
[9:20] brought back to the country after they
[9:22] died Wednesday trying to take a
[9:24] Hezbollah stronghold in southern
[9:25] Lebanon. Israeli F-16s returning the
[9:29] favor, striking hard here. The camera
[9:32] catches the moment a Hezbollah vehicle
[9:33] is targeted and hit by an Israeli jet.
[9:36] But the rockets also injure the
[9:38] innocent, trapped in the middle, both in
[9:40] the Gaza Strip and in the Hezbollah
[9:43] dominated Lebanese city of Ty. All this
[9:45] while world leaders try and stop the
[9:48] violence. And President Bush stands
[9:50] firm. My goal is exactly what I said it
[9:52] was, and that is to hopefully end this
[9:56] as quickly as possible. And at the same
[9:58] time, making sure there's a lasting
[9:59] peace,
[10:01] not a fake peace, not a fake, you know,
[10:05] circumstances that make us all feel
[10:06] better. And then sure enough, the
[10:08] problem arises. Meanwhile, the outrage
[10:10] escalates over the Israeli air strike on
[10:12] this UN bunker that killed four UN
[10:15] observers and prompted Australia to pull
[10:17] its observers from what its prime
[10:19] minister calls a suicide mission.
[10:22] Charles Balai today in Florida.
[10:24] >> Lebanese officials say Israeli war
[10:26] planans renewed attacks on suspected
[10:27] Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon
[10:30] today. The raids reportedly killed at
[10:32] least one person and wounded four
[10:34] others.
[10:39] Hitting [music] fast forward for a look
[10:40] at the day ahead. President Bush is
[10:42] about to come face to face with another
[10:43] man who attracted the votes of the
[10:45] American [music] public. A birthday
[10:46] bonanza for the magic city. And it's the
[10:48] newborns who are getting the presence.
[10:50] But first, the winner of the tour to
[10:53] France proclaiming [music] his innocence
[10:54] by keeping his title. American Floyd
[10:57] Landis says he didn't do it and he'll
[10:59] prove it. [music] The most recent tour
[11:01] to France winner will request a counter
[11:04] analysis today after being accused of
[11:06] testing positive for abnormally high
[11:08] levels of [music] testosterone.
[11:11] Landis was given a second drug test. And
[11:13] if that's positive, he'll be stripped of
[11:15] his Tour to France victory, making
[11:17] second place finisher Oscar Pereira of
[11:19] [music] Spain the winner.
[11:21] Parents whose babies are born at Jackson
[11:23] Memorial Hospital [music] today will
[11:25] receive an extra treat. Newborns will
[11:27] get a Happy Birthday Miami certificate
[11:29] [music] to commemorate the 110th
[11:31] anniversary of the city of Miami, which
[11:34] incorporated on July 28th, [music]
[11:36] 1896.
[11:37] In addition, new parents will receive a
[11:40] free car seat.
[11:42] And President Bush plans to host
[11:44] American Idol winner Taylor Hicks and
[11:46] the other top 10 finalists today in the
[11:48] Oval Office. The White House visit
[11:50] [music] coming hours before their
[11:51] Washington DC show. Your idol favorites
[11:54] will perform at the Office Depot [music]
[11:56] Center in Sunrise next month. For the
[11:59] latest news, log on with us anytime at
[12:01] wsbn.com [music]
[12:02] or you could tune in to 7 News at noon.
[12:04] >> 511 now. The time is still to come from
[12:06] the newslet this morning. A little boy
[12:08] murdered [music] now 25 years later. A
[12:11] law to help keep kids safe.
[12:13] >> Then a radio station some are saying is
[12:15] just too runchy.
[12:17] >> And you may be surprised when we tell
[12:18] you what's lurking in your gym mats.
[12:26] I was in a car accident and I called
[12:28] 911. Then I called 411.
[12:31] >> I slipped and fell and after calling
[12:33] 911, I called 411.
[12:35] >> I got hurt at work and I called 911.
[12:37] Then I called 411. 1800 411 payment.
[12:41] [music]
[12:41] >> If you've been in an accident, you may
[12:43] be entitled to a minimum of $10,000 in
[12:45] injury protection and loss wages,
[12:47] whether you're at fault or not. In any
[12:49] accident, call 911. Ben 411 1800411 pay.
[12:55] >> At Headquarter Toyota, we're celebrating

[13:05] attention, financing options, and 15

[13:12] have to wait till Christmas to get your
[13:14] present.
[13:15] >> Off the palmetto and 57th Avenue is
[13:17] Headquarter Toyota. You'll feel like
[13:19] [music] you bought from the factory.
[13:26] >> Why is Sound Advice the place to have
[13:27] your home entertainment system
[13:28] installed? It's our relentless attention
[13:30] to detail. Right down to our installers
[13:33] wearing booties, booties, booties,
[13:34] booties when they're working in your
[13:36] home. Do you know why? Cuz we don't want
[13:38] to [music] mess your floors up. We
[13:39] figure we could leave you with the
[13:41] world's most beautiful home
[13:42] entertainment system, but if there are
[13:44] tracks on your white carpet, mud on your
[13:46] rugs, you're going to be deeply unhappy
[13:48] with us. [music] And it's that kind of
[13:50] attention to detail I think that really
[13:51] sets us apart. Sound advice, home and
[13:54] mobile entertainment made easy. Only the
[13:56] Checkers Right Side Drive-Thru has great
[13:58] deals like our towering cheese [music]
[14:00] double cheese deal, two giant patties,
[14:02] two slices of American Swiss or pepper
[14:04] jack, and now get two of these big boys
[14:06] for just three bucks. Of course, we here
[14:08] at the Left Side have the same deal. If
[14:10] only we could top it. I don't know. If
[14:12] only perhaps we could find someone like
[14:15] racing great Ricky Bobby to endorse the
[14:17] Left Side drive-thru. What's that,
[14:19] Ricky? Left side wins again. Yeah.
[14:22] >> See Will Ferrell and checkers in
[14:24] Tallaladega Nights August 4th.
[14:27] >> Now, time for seven weather with Elita
[14:29] Loresa.
[14:31] >> Good morning everybody. [music] Get you
[14:32] started first with a check of the
[14:33] temperatures on this Friday morning.
[14:34] Upper 70s, low 80s across the area. Mid
[14:37] 80s for you in Fort Lauderdale, the warm
[14:39] spot, as well as Key West with 84, 83
[14:42] degrees this morning in Marathon with
[14:44] wind speeds generally between 5 to 10
[14:46] miles per hour. A nice breeze coming in
[14:48] off the coastal areas. And along that
[14:50] breeze, we've got some rain showers
[14:51] coming in as well. Most of the rain
[14:53] showers are moving relatively quickly
[14:55] and seeing most of the activity around
[14:56] the Keys. No big weather makers there.
[14:59] Uh if we take a look at Storm Tracker,
[15:01] you can see that the radar is indicating
[15:03] that some showers popping up right
[15:04] around Kendall, Kendall Lakes, uh Cutler
[15:07] Bay. This will continue through the
[15:08] morning commute. Pretty much typical
[15:10] summertime pattern where we're going to
[15:12] see some early morning showers and
[15:13] majority of the showers and storms this
[15:15] afternoon will be favoring the inland
[15:17] and west coast areas. This has been the
[15:19] weather pattern and that should continue
[15:21] at least for the next uh 12 to 18 hours
[15:24] before we start to see better rain
[15:26] chances for all of South Florida with
[15:28] this wave that we've been watching out
[15:30] here in the Caribbean. So, the details
[15:32] on this wave, it is moving toward the
[15:34] west northwest being steered by high
[15:36] pressure to the north. It's moving
[15:38] fairly quickly. I know you're saying,
[15:40] "Wait a minute, I thought this wave was
[15:41] coming on Sunday." So, those of you
[15:42] making plans for Saturday, we're
[15:44] anticipating a drier Saturday than a
[15:46] wetter one. But unfortunately, because
[15:48] it is moving relatively quickly, it
[15:49] looks like we're going to flip-flop
[15:50] those days. Wetter day on Saturday,
[15:53] drier day on Sunday. So, make those
[15:55] plans accordingly. Now, further out into
[15:57] the east, we are watching a westward
[15:59] moving tropical wave just about little
[16:02] less than 700 miles southwest of the
[16:04] Cape Verie Islands. It is associated as
[16:06] well with the surface low pressure. And
[16:07] this could have the potential for some
[16:09] development. Upper level wind should get
[16:11] a little more favorable as it continues
[16:13] toward the west. But we'll continue to
[16:14] watch this in the next couple of days.
[16:17] Winds are out of the east boers 10 to 15
[16:19] knots two to four foot seas. Moderate
[16:20] chop around the bays with water
[16:22] temperatures in the upper 80s today. Low
[16:24] 90s for those afternoon highs tonight.
[16:27] 77 to 80° the temperature rain chances
[16:31] increase overnight and seeing a 40%
[16:33] chance of that rain associated with that
[16:35] way for Saturday but drier by Sunday.
[16:37] That's a look at your 7 on 7 forecast.
[16:39] Have a great Friday.
[16:43] >> What are we supposed to do to try and
[16:45] get that off the air? I mean, that's
[16:47] Well, that that's worse than Howard
[16:48] Stern almost.
[16:50] >> Yeah. From Holy to Holy cow. A Christian
[16:53] radio station in Fresno, California,
[16:55] goes from prayer to porn overnight.
[16:59] I just read it, folks. I don't make it
[17:01] up. All right. And local listeners
[17:02] aren't sure they want their airwaves to
[17:04] be so revealing.
[17:05] >> Radio all the time.
[17:06] >> Oh my gosh. It's doing exactly what it
[17:09] was intended to do. Cause a stir.
[17:11] >> It's the kind of thing that would make
[17:13] controversial radio king Howard Stern
[17:15] mighty proud.
[17:16] >> It's like watching porn in your car,
[17:19] except there's no TV.
[17:21] >> Howard Stern's radio show has made a
[17:23] career out of putting women in sexual
[17:25] situations and airing their frisky
[17:27] escapades over the airwaves.
[17:30] >> My friends, we've done it all. WE'VE
[17:32] DONE IT ALL. [cheering]
[17:35] WHAT'S IT FEEL LIKE TO WEAR A DRESS,
[17:37] HOWARD?
[17:37] >> AT THE SAME TIME, Playboy also has
[17:39] launched its own adult programming, but
[17:42] Stern and Playboy air on serious radio,
[17:44] requiring a subscription to tune in.

[18:02] you know, phone lines and the internet,
[18:04] but you can't block the radio.
[18:05] >> So, will Sex Cell or will this attempt
[18:07] at a long shot fall short?
[18:09] >> Not very creative and really stupid for
[18:12] alienating an adult audience. You know,
[18:14] if their goal is strictly teens, they
[18:17] probably do all right for a bit.
[18:19] >> Get the trash off the radio.
[18:20] >> There is one guarantee. It's put a whole

[18:24] >> Hey, if you're stuck in traffic right
[18:25] now, go ahead and take your top off of
[18:27] your convertible.
[18:31] Okay. So, what can listeners expect to
[18:33] hear when they tune in to porn radio?
[18:35] Well, songs with sexual connotations, a
[18:37] little Marvin Gay's sexual healing, some
[18:39] Beatles, Why don't we do it on the road
[18:41] and Diana's personal favorite, right?
[18:43] Said Fred's I'm too sexy for my

[22:20] recapping [music] for you This morning,
[22:21] a Hollywood police officer accidentally
[22:23] shot by his partner while serving a
[22:25] search warrant for drugs. The suspect's
[22:27] three pit bulls attacked and both
[22:29] policemen fired in self-defense. One of
[22:32] the officers was accidentally shot in
[22:33] the leg, as I mentioned, by his partner
[22:36] in the incident. His injuries are not
[22:38] life-threatening, though. A horrifying
[22:40] discovery yesterday as a woman tells
[22:42] police she caught a man raping her
[22:44] daughter. Detectives say this man,
[22:46] 25-year-old Leonard Wiggins, raped a
[22:48] six-year-old girl inside her parents'
[22:50] home. Detectives believe there may be
[22:52] more victims. Israel's government
[22:55] deciding Thursday not to expand its
[22:57] battle with Hezbollah in southern
[22:58] Lebanon for now, but the government did
[23:00] authorize the army to call up 30,000
[23:02] reserve soldiers in case the fighting
[23:04] does intensify. And that's a look at our
[23:06] top stories this morning.
[23:11] Also making news today, President Bush
[23:12] [music] signing a bill strengthening
[23:13] laws against convicted sex offenders.
[23:15] Bush was joined by John Walsh, the host
[23:17] of Fox's America's Most Wanted, as he
[23:20] signed the bill yesterday at the White
[23:21] House. Yesterday was the 25th
[23:23] anniversary of the abduction of the
[23:25] Walsh's six-year-old son, Adam, who was
[23:27] later found murdered. New law will make
[23:30] it harder for sexual predators to reach
[23:32] kids on the net. The next time you hit
[23:34] the gym for a yoga class, consider
[23:36] yourself warned. It may be hazardous to
[23:38] your health. Yes, some doctors have
[23:40] reported a 50% increase in the number of
[23:43] patients with athletes foot and planter
[23:45] warts. Likely culprit, some think that
[23:48] it may be unclean exercise mats. Lovely.
[23:52] Shared equipment can be breeding ground
[23:53] for viruses and bacteria. An easy
[23:56] solution to the problem is to bring your
[23:58] own mat. And Delta Airlines says it is
[24:01] raising its domestic fairs. The $5
[24:03] increase each way went into effect on
[24:04] Monday. The airline, by the way, says
[24:06] that the hikes are needed to help cover
[24:08] rising fuel costs. Another major US
[24:10] airlines now says that they're going to
[24:11] be considering making the same move.

[31:09] >> We'll get to all those stories in just a

[31:12] >> 7's Alita Loresa is here with the
[31:14] details. Good morning, Alita. Good
[31:15] morning, Tiffany. Good morning,
[31:16] everybody. Friday morning off to pretty
[31:18] good start out there. Radar, though
[31:20] indicating we've got some showers coming
[31:21] in off of that east coast breeze, so
[31:23] perhaps a coastal shower or two later on
[31:25] today as well. Good deal of sunshine out
[31:28] there. 20% chance of rain. Most of the
[31:30] rain should stay away along the
[31:32] coastline and move further inland,
[31:33] especially across the west coast of
[31:35] Florida. We saw those storms developing
[31:36] yesterday around Fort Myers, Naples, and
[31:38] over the Everglades. That will be the
[31:40] weather pattern at least for today.
[31:42] temperatures in the upper 80s to low
[31:43] 90s, but get ready for some changes at
[31:45] least for the first half of the weekend.
[31:47] Saturday, we are watching a wave. This
[31:49] wave will continue to move toward the
[31:50] west northwest and it is moving
[31:52] relatively quickly. So, the good news is
[31:54] although we may see a little bit better
[31:56] rain chances around here for Saturday,
[31:58] it's not going to be a complete wash out
[32:00] by Sunday. We're in for just a slight
[32:01] chance of a shower, we'll drop the rain
[32:03] chances from 40% on Saturday to 20 on
[32:06] Sunday. I'll have more on that coming up
[32:07] in about 15 minutes.
[32:10] Time now for Fast Track Traffic.
[32:14] >> Good morning everyone. Here's your seven
[32:16] traffic look at the Dolphin Expressway.
[32:17] It's a Friday. I'm glad we made it, but
[32:19] we do have very heavy delays on some of
[32:20] the roadways. One of them is the
[32:22] Dolphin, just not in this area. Just to
[32:24] the east of here, there's construction
[32:25] going on that's blocking two right lanes
[32:27] westbound on the Dolphin. That's between
[32:29] Red Road and Milm Derry Road. Only the
[32:31] left lane is getting by. Also, the exit
[32:33] ramp to Milm Derry Road is shut down.
[32:35] So, as you head out this morning, just
[32:36] make plans to exit off at Red Road and
[32:38] then do some loops around and you'll be
[32:39] able to get to where you're going. Also,
[32:41] expect very heavy delays getting through
[32:42] the area. Construction blocks three
[32:44] right lane southbound on the Palmetto
[32:46] Expressway. [music] That's between 58th
[32:47] Street and 36th Street. You only have
[32:49] the left lane open in this area, so do
[32:51] expect heavy delays as well. Let's go to
[32:52] your fast track to traffic. Take a look
[32:54] at Broward County. [music] An accident
[32:55] on the turnpike causing some delays this
[32:57] morning. It's southbound on the
[32:58] turnpike. 2 miles [music] south of
[33:00] Commercial Boulevard. Two right lanes
[33:01] are being blocked. Only the the left
[33:03] lane is getting by. So definitely give
[33:04] yourself extra time to get through that
[33:06] area. And they're wrapping up an earlier
[33:07] injury accident this morning. It's going
[33:09] to be on 595 right at the ramps to US1.
[33:11] [music] It's almost wrapped up and gone.
[33:13] No more slowdowns from it. So it's a
[33:15] good 13-minute commute on 595 from I75
[33:18] out to US1. That's 7 traffic. [music]
[33:20] I'm David. More traffic in 15 minutes.
[33:25] 5:32 is the [music] time. And in the
[33:27] news now, danger on duty for a Hollywood
[33:29] police officer while serving a drug
[33:31] warrant in the area of Dawson Street and
[33:33] 63rd Avenue. That suspect tried to take
[33:36] off from the scene. Three pitbulls at
[33:38] the home attacked the police officers,
[33:41] binding one of them in the leg. One
[33:43] officer fired at the dog, accidentally
[33:45] shooting his partner in the leg. The
[33:47] officer had to be transported to
[33:48] Memorial Regional Hospital with some
[33:51] non-threatening injuries. What could be
[33:53] a tainted victory for American cyclist
[33:55] Floyd Landis testing positive for high
[33:57] levels of testosterone. The tour to
[34:00] France winner denying that he cheated
[34:02] and requesting a counter analysis
[34:04] scheduled for later today. Landis was
[34:06] given a second drug test and if that's
[34:08] positive, he's going to be stripped of
[34:09] his tour to France victory, making
[34:11] second place finisher Oscar Pedo of
[34:13] Spain the winner.
[34:15] And Lebanese security officials say that
[34:17] Israeli war planes have killed at least
[34:19] one person and injured four others in
[34:21] attacks on suspected Hezbollah targets.
[34:23] Also this morning, Israeli jets have
[34:25] destroyed a deserted building and
[34:27] damaged roads there. The latest fighting
[34:29] comes after Israel's government decided
[34:30] now to expand the offensive against
[34:33] Hezbollah.
[34:35] Meanwhile, uh the uh Israeli security
[34:38] cabinet has authorized the army to call
[34:40] up 30,000 reserve soldiers in case the
[34:43] fighting does intensify.
[34:46] They look like police officers. [music]
[34:48] >> I look at them and they have big badges,
[34:50] >> but turns out they're anything but.
[34:53] >> These are bums that are masquerading as
[34:55] buyers and then as cops. Intimidating
[34:58] folks.
[34:59] >> The hunt is on for some cops.
[35:05] >> Police say the cop impersonators pretend
[35:07] they're searching for drugs to gain
[35:08] access to the property. And as Seven's
[35:10] Nicole Linselada tells us, that's when
[35:12] they make off with the uns
