[0:02] condition is whether he himself will be
[0:04] able to carry on his campaign or not.
[0:07] Uh I think that one thing it certainly
[0:09] is going to do is increase considerably
[0:11] the discontent in this nation, which was
[0:13] a factor already in this campaign.
[0:16] Violence in America obviously is going
[0:18] to be a
[0:19] perhaps the issue now.
[0:22] That was another of the pictures you saw
[0:23] there
[0:24] as the Joe has been showing you.
[0:27] Uh I think at this point, Walter, we
[0:29] ought to uh make clear to our audience
[0:31] that uh we are relying mainly on the
[0:34] reports from our correspondents in the
[0:35] field, those who are with Senator
[0:37] Kennedy, particularly John Hart, Roger
[0:39] Mudd, uh who have been trying to to stay
[0:42] abreast with what has uh happened to the
[0:43] Senator. Uh John Hart at the uh nearby
[0:46] police station, the police station
[0:48] closest to the Ambassador Hotel, uh
[0:50] Roger Mudd at the hospital, and uh also
[0:53] the wire services' reports. And if you
[0:55] had seen uh the scene at the Ambassador
[0:57] Hotel at the moment of the the uh shots
[1:00] being fired, you would understand the
[1:01] kind of pandemonium and uh general
[1:03] confusion, which uh naturally would lead
[1:06] to many conflicting reports. So, it's I
[1:08] imagine it's coming upon us to
[1:09] constantly repeat that the latest
[1:12] reports we have have placed Senator
[1:14] Kennedy in the Good Samaritan Hospital
[1:16] in Los Angeles, a hospital which is
[1:18] known for its intensive care unit. A
[1:21] neurosurgeon was standing by when the
[1:22] Senator was taken into the hospital. He
[1:24] was taken there from the Central
[1:26] Receiving Hospital, which is an
[1:28] emergency hospital in Los Angel
