[21:52] father may not have been

[21:55] there for some it may be difficult

[21:59] your father wasn't the type of father

[22:02] that the word of God describes fathers

[22:04] to

[22:05] be could be difficult this

[22:09] morning

[22:10] however if you're a child of

[22:13] God you got a heavenly father who's

[22:17] better than any Earthly father so we're

[22:21] going to look at our father today and

[22:24] we're going to make some application

[22:25] later to every father in the room but I

[22:28] pray pray this morning the word of God

[22:30] will be an encouragement to those who

[22:31] need

[22:32] encouraging convicting to those who need

[22:35] convicting and helpful to those who need

[22:39] help this morning so Matthew chapter

[22:42] number six we find the model prayer the

[22:46] model prayer and the disciples have

[22:49] asked Jesus to teach them how to pray

[22:51] and in Matthew chapter 6 he illustrates

[22:54] that for him beginning in verse number

[22:56] nine and if you're able you please stand

[22:59] and honor the word of God we're going to

[23:00] read verses 9 through1 13 this

[23:04] morning Matthew chap 6 verses 9 through1

[23:07] 13 after this manner therefore pray ye

[23:12] Our Father which art in heaven Hallowed

[23:17] be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be

[23:21] done as it is done in earth as it is in

[23:25] heaven give us this day our Our Daily

[23:29] Bread forgive us our debts as we forgive

[23:33] our debtors lead us not into temptation

[23:37] but Deliver Us from Evil for thine is

[23:59] you're a child of the king if you're

[24:01] saved this morning you belong to the

[24:03] king of kings and Lord of

[24:06] lords and you're not just a person who

[24:10] serves the Lord but you're part of the

[24:13] family of God the songwriter wrote a

[24:16] song I'm so glad that I'm a part of the

[24:19] family of God thankful for that we're

[24:24] going to look at some characteristics

[24:25] here and figure out what's going on

[24:31] the Bible tells us take heed there it's

[24:34] the beginning of the

[24:36] chapter and after this matter therefore

[24:39] pray ye those two words are

[24:42] our

[24:45] father Our

[24:49] Father you think about that this

[24:52] morning we have a father who's

[24:56] yours there's a person personal

[24:59] connection to God an intimate

[25:04] relationship with

[25:06] him our heavenly father desires

[25:09] fellowship and relationship with you one

[25:13] of the amazing things about our heavenly

[25:16] father is he desires intimacy with his

[25:20] children he desires a relationship with

[25:24] you he desires to have communion and

[25:28] fellow fellowship with you so we have

[25:31] our

[25:32] father who desires intimacy I want you

[25:35] to notice what is he teaching them to

[25:40] do to

[25:43] pray here's the amazing thing about our

[25:45] heavenly father he wants to communicate

[25:49] with

[25:50] you he doesn't just wants you to be his

[25:53] child but he actually wants to talk to

[25:56] you through his word and he wants you to

[25:59] talk to him through prayer he desires

[26:02] for you and I to communicate with

[26:06] him that's a characteristic of our

[26:09] heavenly father not only does he want to

[26:11] have an intimate relationship with us we

[26:14] know that he loves us we're going to

[26:16] talk more about that in a minute but he

[26:18] desires communication with you now some

[26:21] of us may grew up in a situation where

[26:24] we didn't talk to our dad but our

[26:26] heavenly father wants to communicate

[26:28] with you he wants to talk to you he

[26:31] wants to hear from you it says here that

[26:35] it's Our Father which are in heaven

[26:37] Hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come

[26:39] thy will be done in earth as it is in

[26:41] heaven give us this day our daily bread

[26:44] forgive us our debts as we forgive our

[26:48] debtors another interesting

[26:50] characteristic of our God is Not only

[26:53] does he want to have an intimate

[26:54] relationship with us not only does he

[26:56] want to communicate with us he's got

[27:00] unconditional love for us

[27:07] love that's our heavenly

[27:09] father he loves us take your Bibles

[27:38] 22 and the glory which thou gavest me I

[27:42] have given them that they may be one

[27:46] even as we are one so Jesus praying to

[27:51] the father says the glory I get I want

[27:53] them to be as close as we are

[27:59] I desire your kids to be as close as we

[28:02] are look at the next verse verse 23 i in

[28:06] them as thou in me that they may be made

[28:12] perfect in one and that the world may

[28:16] know that thou Hast sent me and watch

[28:19] this next part Hast loved them as thou

[28:26] Hast loved

[28:29] me Jesus prayed to our Heavenly Father

[28:34] that he would love you as much as the

[28:37] father loved

[28:40] him think about that think about the

[28:43] closeness in the Father and Son

[28:46] relationship between Jesus Christ and

[28:49] God the

[28:51] Father the closeness in that

[28:55] relationship he desires that for the

[28:58] closeness in your relationship with our

[29:00] heavenly father the love between Jesus

[29:04] and the father he desires that in your

[29:07] relationship with

[29:09] him

[29:11] unconditional love Romans 5'8 but God

[29:15] commendeth his love toward us and that

[29:17] while we were yet

[29:18] sinners Christ died for us for scarcely

[29:23] for a righteous man would one

[29:25] die but Jesus died for

[29:29] Sinners we love you

[29:35] unconditionally unconditional love our

[29:37] heavenly father has notice verse 11 of

[29:42] Matthew chapter

[29:43] 6 give us this day our daily

[29:49] bread our heavenly father meets all our

[29:57] needs our heavenly father meets all our

[30:02] needs notice we didn't say all our wants

[30:06] but all our needs he meets all our needs

[30:11] he gives us our daily

[30:15] bread he says forgive us our debts as we

[30:23] temptation but Deliver Us from Evil he

[30:28] needs that's our heavenly

[30:30] father every need we could ever have he

[30:35] supply another thing about our heavenly

[30:38] father is that he will

[30:45] there he said I will never leave thee

[30:49] nor forsake Thee I will always be there

[30:55] that's your heavenly father he'll never

[30:57] leave you

[30:58] he'll never forsake you he will always

[32:04] not your heavenly father he disciplines

[32:09] you but he does it biblically in love

[32:14] not in

[32:15] anger but in

[32:17] love he disciplines Us in love that's

[32:20] what your heavenly father does he

[32:22] disciplines Us in love

[32:28] so this morning there's some

[32:30] characteristics just a few we could talk

[32:33] longer on who our heavenly father is but

[32:37] our heavenly father wants to have an

[32:38] intimate relationship with you wants

[32:40] some

[32:41] intimacy your heavenly father desires to

[32:44] communicate with you

[32:46] regularly your heavenly father has

[32:48] unconditional love for you your heavenly

[32:52] father meets all your

[32:54] needs your heavenly father will always

[32:58] be there he'll never leave thee nor

[32:59] forsake the your heavenly father

[33:02] disciplines you because he loves

[33:09] you one of the sad things that happens

[33:13] in the life of

[33:15] Believers is that our view of our

[33:19] heavenly father gets skewed by the view

[33:25] of our Earthly father

[33:30] the world that we live

[33:32] in especially Hollywood's version of a

[33:38] dad

[33:40] is

[33:42] mocked and not

[33:48] appropriate there was a show years

[33:51] ago called everybody loves

[33:55] rain it was a fun and lighthearted and

[33:59] usually sometimes had a decent Point

[34:02] behind it however one of the things that

[34:04] was always bother some is that the fact

[34:07] that Raymond the star of the show and

[34:09] the father of the family was always

[34:11] playing the role of a pushover husband

[34:14] and

[34:15] Dad and while his lack of any real

[34:18] leadership added to the show's hilarious

[34:21] nature was at the same time a poor

[34:25] portrayal of what a Godly father should

[34:27] look like in

[34:29] home let's face it sitcom dads are a

[34:33] joke if you listen to what the world

[34:36] portrays dads as being this is what you

[34:38] get a bunch of weak lazy jelly spined

[34:43] guys who don't know how to do much other

[34:47] than what they're told by their wives

[34:50] and pushed around by their children to

[34:53] do so any form of true biblical loving

[34:57] masculine it and leadership in the home

[35:00] is

[35:02] missing this may make for funny

[35:05] television but it has irreversible

[35:08] consequences for families in the real

[35:14] life so let me ask you gentlemen today

[35:17] that are fathers are you a picture

[35:20] perfect

[35:24] father are you a picture perfect father

[35:29] but that's not the picture portrayed for

[35:32] us in scripture because we know the

[35:34] answer to that

[35:36] no the answer in scripture for us of

[35:39] what a father is meant to be God desired

[35:42] for you as a father that you be

[35:45] purposeful present and passionate about

[35:49] raising your

[35:50] family leaving a lasting Legacy that far

[35:53] out lives you and your life Proverbs

[35:56] 13:22 says says this a good man leaveth

[35:59] an inheritance to his children's

[36:02] children not just talking about

[36:06] money talking about

[36:08] character it's talking about biblical

[36:13] truth this

[36:16] morning last week week and a half the

[36:20] Lord led me to this passage to preach

[36:24] this thought that many young people and

[36:28] adults in our society today have what is

[36:31] called a father

[36:35] W that is a pain from their past that

[36:39] was caused by their parents and often

[36:43] specifically by their

[36:47] father there is common among most people

[36:53] whether they realize it or not and the

[36:56] negative of effects of a rather excuse

[37:00] me and the negative effects of a father

[37:02] wound can be far

[37:05] reaching now a father wound can be

[37:07] attributed to a number of different

[37:09] things

[37:12] abandonment a lack of physical

[37:15] affection a failure to be

[37:19] present physical or verbal

[37:23] abuse failure to

[37:25] love being too

[37:28] harsh or being too

[37:30] lenient whatever it is it is not only

[37:35] had an effect on our relationship with

[37:38] our

[37:39] father but upon our perception of God as

[37:43] our heavenly father as well because a

[37:48] child's view of who God is will be

[37:51] directly related to what they see in

[37:55] their father

[37:58] if a dad is Harsh abusive or seldom

[38:01] present in a child's life they'll view

[38:04] God as the same type of

[38:07] Father however if a dad is

[38:09] loving affectionate and kind they'll

[38:13] have a more proper perspective of who

[38:16] their heavenly father is from having

[38:19] seen him through their Earthly

[38:24] father children who fail to see God

[38:27] God's love through their father often

[38:31] fail to see a loving father through

[38:37] God children who fail to see God's love

[38:41] through their father often fail to see a

[38:46] loving father through God so the answer

[38:50] to the first question are you a picture

[38:53] perfect father would have to be know for

[38:56] all of us that

[38:58] we all fall short of perfection for our

[39:01] kids but here's a better question to

[39:05] ask are you a

[39:08] picture of the perfect father are you a

[39:13] picture of a perfect

[39:16] father as dads are calling to love our

[39:19] children is one of the greatest

[39:21] responsibilities ever given because God

[39:24] created them to see who he is through

[39:28] who we

[39:30] are God created them to see who he is

[39:35] through who we

[39:37] are this is one of the most far-reaching

[39:41] consequential

[39:43] responsibilities for it's immediate and

[39:46] longterm watch this

[39:50] multi-generational

[39:52] effects

[39:55] dad thankfully

[39:58] we don't have to be a perfect picture of

[40:02] the father just a per a picture of the

[40:06] perfect

[40:07] father we don't have to be a perfect

[40:10] picture of the father just a picture of

[40:13] the perfect father we don't have to get

[40:17] it all right but we must be following

[40:20] the one who

[40:21] does every father in the room we ought

[40:25] to realize you matter

[40:28] you're

[40:29] important don't let anyone tell you

[40:32] otherwise your family is counting on you

[40:35] to lead spiritually to love

[40:37] unconditionally to provide the affection

[40:40] guidance and presence that they crave a

[40:44] good father is one of the most unsung

[40:46] unpraised and

[40:48] unnoticed and yet one of the most

[40:50] valuable Assets in our society

[40:54] today so sir this morning you don't have

[40:57] to be a perfect father you just got to

[41:00] be a picture of the perfect father so

[41:04] let's talk about him today our perfect

[41:07] Heavenly Father desires an intimate

[41:10] relationship with all his kids I'm so

[41:13] thankful that God desires a relationship

[41:17] with me and I ought to desire a

[41:19] relationship with

[41:21] him some of you this morning may have

[41:23] said Happy Father's Day to your dad some

[41:27] of you this morning you couldn't make

[41:29] that phone call

[41:32] today some of you this morning the very

[41:35] thought of

[41:37] dad activates the scar from that wound

[41:42] of a

[41:43] father it triggers an emotional

[41:47] response but listen let's not the let

[41:50] the sins of the father pass down any

[41:53] farther let it stop with you be a

[41:57] generational curse

[41:59] breaker let it be different in you if

[42:02] you're a young man in the room that had

[42:06] a difficult relationship with your

[42:08] father or your father wasn't a good

[42:10] picture of the perfect father learn who

[42:12] your heavenly father is and be a big

[42:16] picture of

[42:18] him intimate

[42:21] relationship I'm so thankful my heavenly

[42:23] father wants to hear from me you weren't

[42:26] here Wednesday night we talked about

[42:28] praying like

[42:30] Jesus I made this statement and it is

[42:33] still true

[42:35] God does care how you feel and he wants

[42:40] to hear from you how you feel if you

[42:45] look in the garden of gethy you see

[42:47] Jesus praying he was emotional when he

[42:49] prayed he was an Agony when he prayed he

[42:52] was sorrowful when he prayed in fact the

[42:55] Bible says an angel came and and

[42:57] strengthen him and in the next verse

[42:59] he's still being in agony even though

[43:02] God supernaturally sent an angel to

[43:04] minister to him he's still in

[43:07] agony God wants to hear from you how you

[43:11] feel be emotional when you talk to your

[43:17] dad dad's let's let's not say not right

[43:21] now I'm watching the

[43:23] game Dad let's say well not right now I

[43:25] have more important things to do let's

[43:29] not be that our heavenly father is not

[43:33] that way let us not be that you say well

[43:36] I'm important whoa whoa whoa he's more

[43:39] important than you and God s gave you

[43:42] those young people for you to guide and

[43:45] direct them it is no accident that

[43:49] you're to be the spiritual leader for

[43:52] those young people that God gave

[43:54] you whether it's going good or bad it's

[43:57] still your responsibility sir whether

[44:00] you're plugged in checked in trying to

[44:02] do it God's way or you're just got your

[44:05] feet up laxidasical not leading the way

[44:07] God wants it to be done it still falls

[44:10] on your shoulders sir to be the man that

[44:12] God wants you to

[44:14] be I'm thankful of God's Heavenly

[52:57] mess up recognize it most humbling thing

[53:00] as a father is to go to your children

[53:55] our Earthly father now listen some of

[54:00] awesome my dad was great growing

[54:04] up but can I tell you as great as your

[54:06] dad was your heavenly father's better

[54:08] than

[54:09] that as great as your dad was and how

[54:12] much he loved you how much you could go

[54:15] and talk to him how much you could

[54:16] communicate with him how much he did for

[54:19] you your heavenly father does even more

[54:22] than

[54:23] that so whether you had is the world

[54:25] describes it as the dead beat dad or you

[54:27] had the most wonderful dad your heavenly

[54:29] father is greater than

[54:31] that he's greater than that don't

[54:40] relationship to him as ABA
