[0:00] One of the great lines of all time.
[0:02] Lewis Black. All right, we're discussing
[0:04] personalities. You discussed Tom and
[0:05] Katie there. What do you make of that
[0:07] phenomena? Tom and Katie.
[0:08] >> No, just think it's one of those things
[0:10] that, you know, that God designs to
[0:11] scare us.
[0:12] >> Scare us?
[0:13] >> Yeah. It scares me, doesn't it? Doesn't
[0:15] it scare you? It's just weird. And I
[0:17] don't know why we're kind of attracted
[0:18] to it or why people seem to have this,
[0:21] you know, how does it sell magazines?
[0:23] How does it sell anything?
[0:25] >> Why are people interested?
[0:26] >> What? What? What? She's barely got a
[0:29] personality and she's she's appeared
[0:31] three or four times during the during
[0:33] the relationship with like and I'm I've
[0:35] got herpes on her mouth, you know, and
[0:37] you kind of go that's not that's not
[0:38] good, you know. They're taking these
[0:40] celebrity photos. It's not like they're
[0:42] more it's just
[0:44] I find them creepy though that
[0:46] Scientology thing. I mean, you know,
[0:48] religion, we're all kind of everybody's
[0:50] got the way in which they deal with
[0:52] trying to live on the planet, you know,
[0:54] and whatever, however you get through
[0:55] the day in terms of religion, but
[0:57] Scientology just goes into a place I
[1:00] don't, you know, I they asked me what I
[1:02] thought. You know, you get these calls,
[1:03] what did you think of the wedding? What
[1:05] do you think? you know, when and I said
[1:07] my my hope was that, you know, if this
[1:09] was such a great thing that the mother
[1:11] ship might pick him up that day and take
[1:14] him back to Xenon or wherever it was
[1:16] that we we supposedly came from or Ice
[1:19] Nine or whatever the hell.
[1:20] >> Madonna,
[1:22] she I don't pay much attention to her. I
[1:24] just I've never paid much attention. up
[1:27] until this kid thing and then I thought
[1:29] you know that was uh you know it's like
[1:33] for so many but you got to go to I don't
[1:35] get I mean it's one thing if you go to
[1:38] Africa and you kind of like maybe get a
[1:40] focus on you know the the problems there
[1:43] and the children and all of that but
[1:44] it's kind of did go down there to adopt
[1:46] I don't you know I don't quite and then
[1:51] there and then it becomes like a big
[1:53] thing of well did did she really did she
[1:55] pay the guy off. Did they d the baby
[1:58] yada yada yada I don't I don't who knows
[2:01] I I find they just leave me celebrities
[2:04] don't get me as angry unless they really
[2:07] do something that just I find you know
[2:10] most of the time I just find them
[2:11] disturbing.
[2:12] >> Britney Spears
[2:15] well yeah boy that that's good but she
[2:17] made me feel better about my marriage so
[2:19] that was good that aren't you? I was
[2:22] doing I was married for like six
[2:23] minutes. It was a real quick thing. It
[2:25] was like, "Oh, really? We're going to do
[2:26] this?" No. And it was dead the water and
[2:29] I was young. But this is really uh how
[2:32] do you how do you even how
[2:36] kayfed?
[2:37] You know, it'd be like dating somebody
[2:38] named KFC. Why would you go with someone
[2:41] named Kay? And then she's, you know, now
[2:44] her pictures on the internet with her
[2:45] hoo-ha, you know, apparently parading
[2:48] that about. You go, "What?" And then and
[2:50] then but and that everybody knows this.
[2:52] It's like we're a phone call away from
[2:54] psycho so psychosis at any moment that
[2:57] the phone will ring and go you know what
[2:58] you know what's next
[3:00] you know I hope it you know it's
[3:02] whatever I I wish you know it's some it
[3:04] makes you pine for royalty in a weird
[3:06] way doesn't it cuz at least then you
[3:09] kind of know they've been married you
[3:11] know years and years of the you know the
[3:13] gene pool just mixing
[3:14] >> with the uncle
[3:15] >> exactly you know and they've all got
[3:16] kind of a water on the brain and the
[3:18] Philip you know when he you know and the
[3:20] whole crowd the the queen. They're all
[3:22] kind of staring off into space oddly and
[3:24] it's but at least there's it there's
[3:27] some sort of history this kind of you
[3:28] know that that that Hollywood has a
[3:30] royalty you know that it seems to
[3:32] replace the royalty factor doesn't it
[3:35] >> Paris Hilton.
[3:37] >> Wow. Now it doesn't The thing is and
[3:40] every time you say one of these names
[3:41] it's they're going to be around for the
[3:42] rest of my life. It's just it's
[3:44] exhausting to think about and that and
[3:47] her and and that her uh uh because her
[3:49] her her father owns a hotel that's
[3:53] that's you get it for that for hotels. I
[3:56] mean what was the talent?
[3:58] >> But how do you
[3:59] >> WHAT WAS THE GENETIC TALENT?
[4:00] >> HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN IT?
[4:01] >> I DON'T EXPLAIN IT. DO YOU KNOW?
[4:03] >> I DON'T KNOW. YOU GOT ME TALKING LIKE
[4:04] THAT. HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN IT?
[4:06] >> They come on the show. Do you get Paris
[4:07] Hilton on the show?
[4:08] >> I haven't had her on yet.
[4:09] >> How what would you SAY TO HER? HOW COULD
[4:10] YOU POSSIBLY HOW WHAT WOULD YOU DO? And
[4:12] then you'd have those little dogs, those
[4:14] little yippy dogs, the Hilton. But but
[4:17] really, did you ever think in your
[4:18] lifetime when you stayed at a Hilton
[4:19] hotels, you go, "Boy, I can't wait to
[4:21] see the the progeny of these hotel
[4:24] owners. I cannot wait. They have that
[4:27] kind of soap. I can't wait to see their
[4:29] kids." What? It doesn't make sense,
[4:32] Larry. Does it? I God. Pittsfield,
[4:35] Massachusetts. A call for Lewis Black.
[4:37] >> Hi. Um, I just have a question for
[4:39] Lewis.
[4:40] >> Go ahead.
[4:41] >> I was just wondering what is up with
[4:42] your fingers when you do your standup.
[4:45] >> Like just pointers. They point.
[4:47] >> What do you mean his fingers?
[4:50] >> You mean the pointing?
[4:52] >> Yeah. When you get when you get really
[4:54] angry, you just your fingers just seem
[4:55] to
[4:56] >> I know. Yeah. Why do your fingers go
[4:57] haywire? Well, it's just the way I It's
[4:59] got to go somewhere, you know, and it's
[5:01] a and it also started I didn't even know
[5:03] I was doing it for a long time, but I
[5:04] think it has to do with you're in a in a
[5:06] large space and you want, you know, you
[5:07] get, you know, it's you know, you want
[5:09] people to see effective
[5:10] >> and you want people to see it and it
[5:12] keeps their their focus and and and also
[5:14] people think, you know, I and it and it
[5:16] works, you know. I mean, it's the thing
[5:17] is if you focus and you do that
[5:19] sometimes people come up and they go,
[5:21] now how long are your fingers? They must
[5:23] be you. Still ahead, Lewis's disdain for
[5:26] Dancing with the Star.
[5:27] >> Oh yeah, that's good. Let's do that.
[5:29] That group of people,
[5:30] >> let's just say he won't say how he
[5:33] >> Why don't we come back dancing?
[5:35] >> And then there's the way he feels about
[5:37] traveling.
[5:38] >> Lots ahead.
[5:40] >> Yeah, keep the calls coming.
[5:43] >> Who do you think designed
[5:46] this the coach seats on an airplane?
[5:50] >> I think it's a guy with scoliosis who
[5:52] was really pissed.
[5:55] Damn it. This is the most comfortable
[5:57] CHAIR EVER. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE
[5:58] bitching about.
[6:00] This is perfect.
[6:16] Sports sedans have come to be regarded
[6:18] as purely machine.
[6:20] But when design functions as a display
[6:22] of human skill and craftsmanship rather
[6:25] than simply mechanical precision,
[6:28] the machine can evoke emotion.
[6:33] It can shape how you experience the
[6:34] road.
[6:36] You can go beyond machine. The allnew G
[6:40] is here and it's from Infinity.
[6:43] >> My name is Van Schuler and I'm 100 years
[6:47] old. I first met my husband in study
[6:50] hall. We've traveled all over the world.
[6:54] Lisbon, Athens, Tokyo. I was one of the
[6:57] lucky ones. When Henry passed away, ban
[7:00] carried on living out their dreams to
[7:02] see the world for another 40 years. When
[7:05] you can't protect and care for your
[7:06] family, life insurance from Genworth
[7:08] Financial can help. Genworth Financial.
[7:11] Insurance for living. Solutions for
[7:13] life.
[7:13] >> All right, guys. Keep your eyes open.
[7:15] You don't know what you're going to see.
[7:17] If you look to your right, you'll see a
[7:19] tropical rainforest. Huh?
[7:23] Lucky day. To your left, a scantily clad
[7:28] native. Kungpow.

[7:53] started. You'll even get a free
[7:55] companion certificate with ticket

[7:58] months.
[7:59] >> Oh, kids, look. Caribou.
[8:03] >> City Advantage Card. Turn everyday
[8:05] purchases into a real vacation.
[8:07] >> Hey, look, a zebra.
[8:11] >> Call City now to apply.
[8:15] This is Sarah Watkins. A lot of people
[8:18] almost helped her. One almost cooked for
[8:21] her. Another almost drove her to the
[8:24] doctor. Still, another almost stopped by
[8:27] to say hello. They almost helped. They
[8:30] almost gave of themselves.
[8:33] But almost giving is the same as not
[8:36] giving at all.
[8:46] I got to um travel a lot this year. Uh I
[8:51] got to get out of the country which was
[8:52] which was really great. And you know it
[8:55] would have been nice if if our president
[8:57] when he was young had had some
[9:00] intellectual
[9:01] curiosity
[9:04] and he'd gotten out of the country too.
[9:09] I WAS SHOCKED to discover that he never
[9:12] even went to Canada.
[9:16] How's that possible?
[9:18] EVEN DRUNK ON A BET YOU MAKE IT TO
[9:21] CANADA.
[9:24] >> We're back with Louis Black. All right.
[9:26] About traveling. Is traveling a You
[9:28] travel a lot.
[9:28] >> I travel a lot and uh
[9:30] >> still a hassle.
[9:30] >> Yeah. I Somebody once asked what am I
[9:32] more afraid of airports or airplanes? I
[9:34] I'm more afraid of airports and and and
[9:36] it just gets weirder and we it's just
[9:38] you know anyone who walks into an
[9:40] airport at this point in time and feels
[9:43] that they're secure and that somehow
[9:46] that uh you know that this this thing is
[9:48] all working you know that they're we are
[9:50] really safe is delusional. They they I
[9:54] have I believe you could actually take
[9:57] all the equipment down and have mines
[9:59] just pretend and it would be as
[10:02] effective as we have now. I watch this
[10:05] is a true story. I watched a woman this
[10:07] is the kind of stuff I see this first.
[10:08] Have you ever been in an airport? Now
[10:10] you may you may where you have seen
[10:13] somebody taken a side that you wow
[10:16] that's a suspicious looking person. I I
[10:19] never never I see I see people my
[10:22] father's age and they they're patting
[10:24] him down as if to see maybe if they went
[10:26] you know they went to the bathroom on
[10:27] themselves. Maybe is that why you're
[10:28] touching him in the in the behind? Why
[10:31] would you why would you pat down an 87
[10:33] year old man? What what level? WHERE DID
[10:36] THE MEMO come from? And I watched this
[10:39] woman who is literally um in a
[10:41] wheelchair. This is LAX where they just
[10:44] do a tremendous job there. They're
[10:47] working night and day to make sure we're
[10:48] safe. The she's in a She is totally
[10:51] immobile. Totally. They're going to have
[10:52] to pull her out of the chair and place
[10:54] her in the plane. So, why would you even
[10:57] stop her, you know? I mean, YOU YOU YOU
[10:59] JUST GET her on the plane. The poor
[11:01] woman is like, you know, it's a sacri
[11:03] she's whatever it took. It took courage
[11:05] to show up to fly on a plane to begin
[11:07] with. She's immobile. They're they're
[11:09] they're actually, you know, when they do
[11:11] your briefcase to see if you got a bomb
[11:13] in it, they're dobbing her to testing is
[11:16] to see if she's a bomb. So, I actually
[11:18] went up to them, which is, you know, is
[11:20] a big mistake. And I said, um, excuse
[11:24] me. Uh, I I've just, uh, she is not a
[11:27] bomb. I I know you're going to have to
[11:29] trust me on this. You don't know me. Uh,
[11:32] but I'm I'm uh she is not a bomb. and
[11:34] and and I know that you believe that the
[11:35] al-Qaeda uh are masters of disguise, but
[11:38] if she's actually a bomb, this is not
[11:40] terrorism. It's a work of art.
[11:44] >> What do you got against Dancing with the
[11:46] Stars? Oh boy.
[11:48] >> What do you got for it? Why would you
[11:51] It's Where did WE GET TO? NOBODY DANCES.
[11:55] WHAT ARE THEY WATCHING? IT'S NOT LIKE WE
[11:57] GO on Friday and people all over the
[11:59] country are dancing. So you go, gee, I
[12:02] can't wait to see EMTT Smith dance or or
[12:04] Tucker Carlson or And why you'd want to
[12:06] see them dance is beyond me, but that's
[12:08] another whole can of worms. But just the
[12:10] basics, WE DON'T DO IT. We most of us
[12:13] haven't done it till high since high
[12:14] school. DO YOU GO DANCING? NOBODY DOES.
[12:18] >> And yet
[12:18] >> that's right. Nobody even says, "Let's
[12:20] go dancing."
[12:20] >> Nobody says it. They might say there was
[12:22] a time like 10 years ago some of my
[12:24] friends marriages were falling apart
[12:26] where they go, "Let's go do Friday
[12:28] night. Let's take dance lessons." like
[12:30] that's going to that's going to put the
[12:32] marriage back together. Boy, if we can
[12:34] chaa together, you know, hoo-ha. But
[12:37] this and then they talk I can't want I
[12:39] just find it in it's it's in I it's
[12:41] inexplicable of me. Sometimes I feel
[12:43] like I'm I'm it's it's good for me in a
[12:45] way because I don't do drugs anymore. So
[12:47] when I turn it on it's like I'm watching
[12:49] I'm going wow.
[12:50] >> The only time you dance if you go to a
[12:52] dinner might be dancing you know an
[12:54] orchestra and it's a some sort of
[12:56] >> Yeah. Or you're at a wedding.
[12:57] >> Yeah. Wedding
[12:57] >> then you're wedding and you're trash.
[12:59] Did you dance at your prom?
[13:01] >> I danced at the prom. I danced at my
[13:03] prom.
[13:03] >> What high school did you go to?
[13:04] >> I went to Spring Brook High School in
[13:06] >> There it is. Look at it. Oh, wow. That's
[13:08] scary. That's not right. No, that's not
[13:10] right. That was my prom date.
[13:11] >> Who is she?
[13:12] >> Cindy Coleman. Now works in a law office
[13:14] in Washington. This is me when I was
[13:16] before the operation. I was originally a
[13:18] Mongaloid child and surgery was done.
[13:21] And those glasses are hard to come by
[13:23] anymore. You can't It's That's a tough
[13:25] You can You can't even find those
[13:26] glasses. So, Dancing with the Stars is
[13:28] off your list, right? You
[13:30] >> I turn it on for like five minutes to
[13:31] kind of get the feeling like I'm stoned,
[13:34] you know, like, wow, this is really
[13:36] unusual.
[13:37] >> What do you make of American Idol?
[13:39] >> That was the It was That was like the
[13:41] end of uh the way you're supposed to
[13:43] discover talent, isn't it? Aren't you
[13:45] supposed to if you're You know, you did
[13:47] it. You You worked Isn't this the way
[13:49] it's supposed to be? You worked in uh
[13:52] you worked in radio, you came up, you do
[13:54] you go from one schley job to another
[13:56] and you learn how you do what it is. You
[13:58] know, these people never sang in front
[14:00] of drunks in a in some sort of honky
[14:03] tonk. You know, it's they go from from
[14:04] point A to point Z without anywhere in
[14:07] between. And then, you know, and then
[14:09] I'll kind of follow some of them around
[14:11] the country every so often, you know,
[14:12] that you know that they'll be playing a
[14:14] a theater that I've played and I'll ask
[14:15] about, you know, these people and they
[14:17] go, well, you know, they got an
[14:18] attitude. They got an attitude. HOW DO
[14:21] YOU COME UP WITH AN ATTITUDE? YOU KNOW,
[14:23] you were so lucky that you just went
[14:25] from A to Z. How do you, you know, I
[14:27] just think it's it's hideous.
[14:29] >> When we come back, the black and white
[14:31] issue of Hollywood's penguin obsession
[14:33] at the movie. Speaking of which, as we
[14:34] go to break, a sample of Lewis's own
[14:37] movie skills as Uncle Ben in the film
[14:40] Accepted. Don't go away. Look, we throw
[14:43] a lot of fancy words in front of these
[14:45] kids in order to attract them to going
[14:47] to school in the belief that they're
[14:49] going to have a better life. And we all
[14:51] know that all we're doing is BREEDING A
[14:53] WHOLE NEW GENERATION OF BUYERS AND
[14:56] SELLERS, BUYERS AND SELLERS, PIMPS AND
[14:58] and indoctrinating them into A
[15:01] LIFONG HELL OF DEATH AND INDECISION.

[17:36] Memorial Coliseum December 16th at 8:00
[17:38] p.m.
[17:41] >> A Christian Alenor special CNN Saturday
[17:44] and Sunday night, 8 Eastern.
[17:50] >> Come on, IT'S GOING TO BE FUN. WE'RE
[17:52] GOING TO WATCH SOME FOOTBALL, eat some
[17:54] turkey sandwiches. No number TW's on the
[17:57] bus.
[17:58] >> Time to make my picks. Got to keep. Here
[18:01] we go.
[18:03] Chris Henry.
[18:05] He's going to be playing today. Wide
[18:07] receiver. He's been arrested four times
[18:09] in like the last 7 months. That's
[18:12] spectacular. You know, the guy needs a
[18:13] hobby. Maybe Ben Rothllessberger is
[18:16] going to sell his bike. Well, Henry's
[18:18] going to play. Then you go with
[18:19] Cincinnati. Why not? He's not been
[18:22] convicted. Play ball.
[18:25] >> You enjoy that?
[18:26] >> I like doing that. Yeah, that's fun.
[18:28] >> The football thing. Yeah, it's a it's a
[18:30] it's a nice diversion and it's great cuz
[18:32] it's about I like yelling about nothing,
[18:34] you know? I mean, it's it's it's fun to
[18:36] yell about. It's such a silly thing,
[18:37] football. It's it's so much fun and it
[18:39] gives you so much fodder.
[18:40] >> We have an email question, personal and
[18:42] to the point from Paty in Imperial
[18:44] Beach. How come you're not married?
[18:49] >> Cuz I'm How come I'm not married?
[18:51] Because women just leap on a guy like
[18:53] me. They go, "Wow, you know, I'd like to
[18:55] meet an angry, you know, I you know, I'd
[18:57] like somebody angry, nasty."
[18:59] >> You think you'd be hard to live with?
[19:02] >> Now I am because I'm kind of set in my
[19:04] ways. So, you kind of got to watch out.
[19:06] >> I got to get from point A to point B. I
[19:08] don't have time. I will walk around uh
[19:11] during the early day if something if I'm
[19:13] not getting something right or if I
[19:15] didn't do something, I will actually
[19:16] yell at myself for like 3 to five
[19:19] minutes at a time.
[19:21] >> You George W. Bush and John Kerry all
[19:24] attended Yale.
[19:26] >> Yeah.
[19:26] >> You at the school of drama.
[19:28] >> I was at the school of drama. This is a
[19:29] kind of the end of Yale. But uh
[19:32] >> why don't you play that up more? You are
[19:33] an intellectual.
[19:35] >> Nah, I can't push that. Not in this
[19:38] country. Okay. You can't go I'm the ser
[19:40] of comedy. Then you know the you know
[19:42] it's like no you can't really push that.
[19:44] It's not a big selling point.
[19:46] >> And not
[19:47] >> I don't think so.
[19:47] >> Did you like Yale? At the time I went,
[19:50] it was a little depressing because it
[19:52] was I started to realize why the the
[19:54] rich in this country were, you know, it
[19:56] was it had kind of flipped. It had been
[19:58] 55% in the 60s. It was 55% public
[20:02] school, 45% private school. Then it
[20:04] flipped back to when I got there in the
[20:06] 70s, it was 55% uh uh private school
[20:10] kids. And you get a sense of why the
[20:11] rich have intermarried to the point
[20:13] where it's out of control. A lot of
[20:14] >> the rich have intermarried.
[20:15] >> I think so. The rich keeps kind of
[20:17] marrying each other. So you got these
[20:19] kids are driving around the big watthead
[20:20] kids, you know, they got to they got a
[20:22] BMW, but they got to have something to
[20:23] keep their head, you know, so it doesn't
[20:25] fall over.
[20:27] >> What do you think of school in general?
[20:28] Are you a fan of of our educational?
[20:30] >> No, I think we really got to work that I
[20:32] think that that's the my biggest bone of
[20:36] contention. That's the the most
[20:37] important thing there is. That's bar
[20:39] anything else is education. Everything
[20:41] starts from there. We can discuss all
[20:43] the wars. We can discuss all of the
[20:44] political problems, but but for us as a
[20:47] country, we got to get back to learning
[20:49] how to teach people how to do things,
[20:51] you know? I mean, it's just it's
[20:53] appalling. We got a public education.
[20:55] When I went to school, you went to
[20:56] school in New York when my parents, you
[20:57] know, and my and my parents went earlier
[20:59] than you and the school system in New
[21:00] York was spectacular.
[21:02] >> Best you best in the world.
[21:04] >> When we were kids, if you went to
[21:05] private school, something wasn't matter
[21:06] with you.
[21:07] >> Right. and the schools I went to and
[21:09] within a 30 to 35 or 40 year period
[21:11] we've completely destroyed I mean 49% of
[21:14] the kids in New York City schools don't
[21:16] graduate you don't and that's that's
[21:19] like the Titanic
[21:20] the boat is sinking you have to see it
[21:23] you you're not graduating 50% of the
[21:25] kids and you can't figure it out and we
[21:27] can't seem to manage it and that to me
[21:29] is where the money has to go and they go
[21:31] well you can't throw money in education
[21:34] and go well you know what you do you pay
[21:35] teachers that's what you do because when
[21:38] we when I was a kid uh there was one of
[21:42] the great jobs was being a teacher. It
[21:44] was a perfect middle class job and you
[21:46] and they paid you really well in terms
[21:48] of the income. You can't expect somebody
[21:50] they're going 35 grand. What are you to
[21:52] live in New York City? What are you nuts
[21:55] to to to go work in an in an inner city
[21:58] school and you know and try to struggle
[22:00] with the problems that you're dealing
[22:01] with and you got to deal with the
[22:03] parents and then you got to deal with
[22:04] the the administrators and you're and
[22:06] and the real problem that you got to
[22:07] deal with is is what you really need to
[22:09] focus on is these kids and and and
[22:12] they're giving you you know here's hey
[22:14] here's uh you know why don't you
[22:15] hitchhike home it's pay them you got to
[22:18] make IT COMPETITIVE HOW DIFFICULT I
[22:21] DON'T THINK I'M CRAZY HERE HOW difficult
[22:23] is it to pay teachers a a reasonable
[22:26] wage so that we're competing cuz most
[22:28] kids go to college and go, you know, I
[22:29] want to be a business major, which is
[22:31] the phoniest major on earth. THAT'S
[22:34] BUSINESS. THEY DO. NO, THERE'S you can't
[22:37] be a business major. There's all sorts
[22:39] of business.
[22:40] >> It's phony.
[22:41] >> I think it's a it's a BS major. And
[22:43] that's as close as I'm going to get to
[22:44] saying something bad. Okay. And we'll be
[22:46] back with our remaining moments with
[22:49] Louiswis Black
[22:50] right after finish.

[26:20] that'll be the next movie. That'll be

[26:57] Santa, but if Santa's so important to
