[0:00] insurance. Real people.

[0:01] Damage is obviously

[0:03] extensive. Let's go back to KOMO and

[0:06] listen in on their coverage.

[0:07] Structures are safe. As we see some of

[0:10] the damage that we have seen all over

[0:11] the Seattle area,

[0:13] this earthquake felt as well in Portland

[0:15] where

[0:16] waiting for reports out of Portland. But

[0:18] a lot of the buildings, the tops of the

[0:20] exterior of buildings have fallen down.

[0:23] And

[0:24] so far no major reports of injuries,

[0:27] although we're checking with the

[0:28] hospitals now to see what's happened.

[0:30] But so far really the city comes through

[0:33] remarkably well considering this was a

[0:35] 6.4, 6.5 magnitude quake. There's the

[0:38] Icon Grill and Building, a restaurant in

[0:40] downtown Seattle. This is fairly typical

[0:42] of what we're seeing throughout the

[0:44] streets as tops of buildings, the

[0:46] parapets, some of the brickwork along

[0:48] some of the older buildings

[0:50] has fallen down and this is true as well

[0:53] in some neighborhoods, some homes that

[0:55] are brick and a number of them in the

[0:57] Puget Sound region, some of the older

[0:59] homes also suffering some brick damage.

[1:03] One of the one of the things that we

[1:04] need to stress is that even though we're

[1:07] told there probably will not be

[1:08] aftershocks, you see these bricks on the

[1:10] side of this building. A lot of the

[1:12] older buildings had a material that was

[1:15] old enough to be very loose. So just

[1:18] imagine some of that material that still

[1:20] may be hanging up there that eventually

[1:22] could come down. So you still want to be

[1:23] careful of where you're walking and

[1:25] looking around so that you can avoid

[1:27] injuries. Kathy mentione
