[0:13] Hello, I'm Porter Anderson with this

[0:14] news update. Just hours from now, voters

[0:17] in Quebec will go to the polls to decide

[0:19] whether they should form a new nation. A

[0:21] final opinion poll shows separatists

[0:23] close to a majority. The survey shows

[0:25] nearly 47% of decided voters are in

[0:28] favor of secession. Hundreds attended

[0:30] this anti-section rally in Longo,

[0:33] Quebec. Both sides held massive rallies

[0:35] through the weekend in hopes of winning

[0:37] the undecided voters who could well

[0:39] decide the outcome. Separatists say

[0:41] splitting from Canada is the only way to

[0:43] preserve Quebec's distinct language and

[0:46] culture. But even if Quebec votes for

[0:48] sovereignty, it is not clear if the

[0:50] national government will allow it to

[0:51] secede.

[0:55] proposed GOP budget, some lawmakers are

[0:58] urging compromise. Both Republicans and

[1:00] Democrats say the best way to negotiate

[1:02] the budget may be to bypass the White

[1:05] >> Maybe it might be better for the

[1:06] Republicans in the United States Senate

[1:08] to start talking to the Democrats in the

[1:10] United.

[1:11] Maybe that'd be a better way to do it,

[1:12] not be talking to the president.

[1:14] >> Rather than worrying about what the

[1:15] president's going to do, he's got to

[1:16] decide whether he's going to sign it.

[1:17] Don't negotiate with the president at

[1:19] the moment. negotiate with congressional

[1:20] Democrats who have already demonstrated

[1:22] a willingness to vote for the very

[1:23] things that you say need to occur.

[1:25] >> Mr. Clinton says
