[0:00] Then with Walter Kankite,

[0:03] >> good evening. Patricia Hurst is a free

[0:05] woman tonight, at least temporarily. The

[0:08] 22-year-old publishing errors has been

[0:10] reunited with her family at a secret

[0:12] location after almost 3 years as

[0:14] kidnapped victim, fugitive in the

[0:16] underground, and prisoner behind bars.

[0:19] There's one big restriction on her

[0:21] freedom. Heavy bail posted by her

[0:23] family. Richard Thralk reports.

[0:26] This morning, Patricia Hurst prison cell

[0:28] in San Diego was empty. US marshals had

[0:31] come for her in the middle of the night

[0:32] and brought her under heavy security to

[0:34] the federal courthouse in San Francisco

[0:36] for the last little bit of bookkeeping

[0:38] before she could be set free. Federal

[0:40] judge William Oric denied her motion for

[0:42] a new trial, but ordered her released

[0:44] until her bank robbery conviction can be

[0:46] appealed. Her defense attorney spelled

[0:48] it out.

[0:50] That order provides that she is released

[0:52] to the custody of her mother and father

[0:57] under rather elaborate security

[0:59] precautions in accordance with a plan

[1:02] submitted to the court on Monday of this

[1:04] week.

[1:06] The judge also set the amount of $1

[1:09] million in bail. The Hurst posted 10% of

[1:14] that million dollars in cash and

[1:15] security required and soon after

[1:17] Patricia Hurst emerged a free woman at

[1:19] least for the time being.

[1:25] >> Okay.

[1:34] right now.

[1:39] All

[1:39] >> right, gentlemen.

[1:41] Miss, as I indicated before, there will

[1:43] be no questions because of legal

[1:46] reasons.

[1:48] However, Miss Hurst has indicated she

[1:50] might indicate how it feels right now to

[1:52] be released on bail.

[1:55] >> Well, it would be a lot bet
