[0:01] they're treating it as such only in the
[0:03] sense that they have shut down all the
[0:04] airports they're patrolling the airspace
[0:07] the FAA tells us they are now debating
[0:10] whether to put a further ground stop in
[0:13] at other airports but no decision has
[0:15] been made on that at this point uh it
[0:18] was an Airbus
[0:19] a300 uh this would be the first major
[0:22] accident involving an Airbus uh jetliner
[0:25] in the United States we don't know
[0:28] exactly yet how old this particular a300
[0:31] was we do understand from Airbus that uh
[0:35] this plane did have uh what you call a
[0:37] glass cockpit not the old dials but it
[0:40] was not one of their flyby wire planes
[0:42] at least that's what they're telling us
[0:44] right now they believe it was uh a plane
[0:47] where uh one of the oldfashioned planes
[0:49] you might
[0:50] say all of the uh the the devices the
[0:54] flaps and everything are not actually
[0:56] run by Electric signal they're connected
[0:59] really by wires so um that's what we
[1:02] understand by Hydraulics that's what we
[1:03] understand at this point but we don't
[1:05] have any indication of course yet what
[1:07] brought the plane down there's still
[1:09] some conflicting information Peter about
[1:11] how many people were on board uh we
[1:14] believe it was somewhere between
[1:17] 256 passengers and crew members on board
[1:20] the jetliner and we do understand that
[1:23] the national Transportation safety board
[1:25] is putting together their go team the
[1:27] team that goes to the major crashes and
[1:29] they will will be uh leaving as soon as
[1:31] they assemble the people they need and
[1:33] heading up to the crash site thanks
